There ya go, flange. If this doesn’t work, I don’t know what will.
June 12th, 20124:46 pm
Boy is that headline misleading.
Gouda, scoots? kinda sissy stuff, aint it? Good strong aged cheddar or pepperjack or limburger is much more manly
June 12th, 20124:47 pm
Mikey – First of all, Ibanez was still with the Phillies when we got Diaz from the Pirates. Second, Ibanez hits LH and Diaz hits RH – and we’re a LH heavy team – Ibanez was not what we needed.

Overworked Livan? Tells me all I need to know………..
June 12th, 20124:49 pm
I don’t think McFann will be upset that we are pulling for her mann…
There you go with them “facts” again!
Liking Freddie but not Fredi
What an extremely misleading title.
That title is downright fraudulent and in no way conveys the meaning intended. I award you no points and may God have mercy on your soul.
In all seriousness though, change the title. It is ridiculous and conveys poor journalism… and you know it.
I am secure in my manhood, nolie. I am not defined by my cheese.
June 12th, 20124:50 pm
I saw your comment and said hello on the last blog. I’ve been way behind the blog the last few days, just catching up today.
Hey, if a manly guy like flange1 can do it, what they heck.
The Braves do need some starting pitching to step up and need to stop overworking Livan.
Overworking Livan??? The dude hadn’t worked in almost 2 weeks until this Sunday… doesn’t seem like overuse to me, but rather, underuse….

“I am not defined by my cheese.”
Perhaps not, but when you label yourself a ‘cheese slut,’ I think you muddy the water a bit.
Peter Moylan @PeterMoylan
You are all probably sick of hearing this but today was again the best bullpen so far. #consistency #hittersonsaturday
I’ll admit that I’m a sucker for pepperjack, though. And many others, for that matter.
DS1 – Yeah, they have a habit of getting in the way.
scoots – Some may believe that cheddar or limburger are more manly, but yellow cheeses like Gouda and Edam have enzymes that are anti cancer agents. I’d rather stay alive longer and laugh at all the macho dudes who ate the wrong cheese and no quiche and died.

How bad has B-Mac been?
Since July 8th of 2011 (100 games) Mac has only had 17 multi-hit games, he is 77 for his last 354 (.217avg) while scoring a dreadful .693 OPS!!!!! Say what you want but if this goes on much longer you have to start thinking he might be on the downside of his career…can he turn it around, SURE, but how long do you wait for him to turn into russel martin?
Please. No. I can smell it from here.
Just don’t be caught dead eating that stuff on “Redneck Island”
June 12th, 20124:54 pm

Harrison is hardly lighting anything up,a 102 ERA+ and a 1.4 WHIP are nothing special at all. both he ans Salty would not have stayed with the team since then anyway most likely. whole lotta over reaction here to that trade. It sure wasn’t Tex’s fault that we didn’t get there that first year. he was great
Yeah, but have they let Moylan face LH hitting ?
June 12th, 20124:55 pm
But the Harper game erased all goodwill up to that point….it proved that Jason stinks….definitively. _ phil
Yeah, I suspect that will follow Heyward around until he hits .300/.400/.500 for a few months.
Sorry for the triple post…computer error
Way to go Wayne!
Now we need to get BAS to commit!
Come on BAS, show some courage!
McFann :Ô: :Ô: :ô:
June 12th, 20124:56 pm
Awesome sauce, y’all!…
Chris from the Rock
Looks like Schafer was the best of the lot the ‘Stros got in the Bourn deal. Olberholtzer has ERA just south of 5.00, Clemens’ is over 6.00, and Abreu’s is over 7.00. I understand two of those guys pitch in the PCL, but it certainly doesn’t look like the Braves will regret that trade long term, even if they can’t lockup Bourn after the season.
I belive in you macann.
oops, I shouldn’t have said that!
June 12th, 20124:57 pm
its amazing the difference between how limburger smells and how it tastes
You guys are making me hungry. I see an evening plate of cheese, crackers, and fixin’s in my future after dinner.
Nobody asked you…
June 12th, 20124:58 pm
Can’t do it. Wouldn’t be prudent. Gotta keep my record of never using another name. Plus, you know, I don’t have any courage. I’ll just sit here and root my boy on from afar.
Hey DOB, read the headline and you tell me if it reads that the Braves traded for Dempster. Come on, dude.
I think I’ll bust out my own attempt to help Mac along later if I’m around during the game.
You’re going to post a buffet next to your name?
June 12th, 20124:59 pm
“cheese, crackers, and fixin’s”
Salami/ no salami?
Alright, y’all. I outta here for home. See ya later for game chat. Although I split my time between here and the FB Tomahawk Nation group.
June 12th, 20125:01 pm
If this works, Heyward’s my next target.
salami or summer sausage or Lebanon Bologna and pretzels please
with my mountain of cheese
June 12th, 20125:02 pm
Yes on the salami, add some mustard and BAMM!
June 12th, 20125:03 pm
spicy mustard not yellow
Good strong aged cheddar or pepperjack or limburger is much more manly
Vermont white cheddar, extra sharp.
June 12th, 20125:04 pm
“If this works”
Shoot, if this works we’ll have to include everybody. And here ‘OB though O’Ventbrel was something. He ain’t seen nothin’ yet.
With apple wedges.
Diaz is a bumb his avg is high cause he rarely plays remember he cant make it on a sorry pirates team!
What type of cracker? The simple saltine just will not do.
June 12th, 20125:05 pm
that’ll work Russell
“With apple wedges.”
Alert. Alert. Somebody’s off the rails.
June 12th, 20125:06 pm
no crackers, just pretzels, sorry
Maybe I should try it before mocking, excuse me, discussing, another’s choices.
takes courage to eat limburger BAS…..
“and we’re a LH heavy team – Ibanez was not what we needed.”
Which is why Heyward isn’t playing tonight. Might be different if Rossy was playing for Mac, but 4 lefties probably not the way to go tonight, yes?
Of course J Hey did followup his strong game Friday night with 3 K’s on Saturday. Not sure on the hot bat thing yet.
String a couple of good games and the boy wonder will be in everyday.
Ship Heyward to AAA (Rob from SC)
June 12th, 20125:07 pm
Heyward starts to turn things arpund…his reward…riding the bench
June 12th, 20125:08 pm
David O’Brien @ajcbraves
#Braves manager Fredi G told Heyward, “This is not a platoon situation, but it’s hard to ignore those numbers.” (Diaz 5-for-9 vs. Sabathia)
Just one last Heyward tweet….
On cheese, Pepperjack and Swiss. Give me that with any sort of crackers, along with olives, spicy peppers and onions. That’s the Albanian in me. Of course, my wife wouldn’t come near me after eating all that.

READ THE DAMN TITLE, PEOPLE!! All of it!
I would say the reaction to it was unbelievable, but sadly, it isn’t.
READ IT! ALL OF IT!
June 12th, 20125:09 pm
Raw onion too. I could eat that stuff like a red delicious apple.
McSophfreeewardters to the rescue.
June 12th, 20125:10 pm
Black olives from a greek deli.
Okay, I’m outta here. Gotta eat something now.
Hate to beat a dead bench, but Diaz, Wilson, Francisco & Hinski are not scaring too many pitchers & managers in those late innings pinch hitting roles.
“takes courage to eat limburger BAS…..”
I believe you, ’cause I don’t wanna be near the stuff, and, well, you know about my courage. I once refused to allow someone to put it in my refrigerator. No courage.
Doofus(Goober and Gomer's Smart Brother)
It amazes me that more posters are more concerned about the headline(which is technically correct) than the fact that DOB made a mistake in his lineup in two different places. In the article he has CJ and Prado both at 3B, and in his post later he did the same thing. Now, knowing FG it wouldn’t surprise me if that’s true. With the way CJ played last night putting them both there would have it covered, and who needs a leftfielder when the Yanks are batting. Makes sense to me! As for the headline it comes down to one thing. It depends on whether you read “trade” as a verb or a noun. Try it, you’ll see the difference. The first time I read it(just like most) I read it as a verb, when it is actually a noun in this case. (Thanks to my paraplegic 10th grade English teacher, Helen Powell, God rest her sweet soul, she gave me all A’s).
June 12th, 20125:11 pm
The apple wedges bring a nice texture/taste balance to sharp cheddar. Sharp and soft cheese meets crisp and mild apples. It works.
June 12th, 20125:12 pm
I like Kraft singles on my ham sandwich….
rest of you can choke on your silly, woosy other kinds of cheeses…..i spit on them all.
“Raw onion too”
That’s a good call. I don’t know if I need olives with my C&C, but I gotta have some onion, and maybe a little salt.
June 12th, 20125:13 pm
Umpires??? … don’t even get us started on Inept Umpiring, like that Moron who who missed the Should have been Ruled Fair-Ball, intead the Dumpters called it Foul, in order to save Santana’s No-hitter??? Gimme a Break, It was So OBVIOUSLY FAIR on Any Angle shown on MLB network, the Left Field Ump If He Was AWAKE Could Not have “Missed” the Call, it was That OBVIOUS… Umps have outlived their use in MLB, put it all to be Reviewed Upstairs in a Booth with Three Guys Looking at the Play, Let Them Call it… Not some Moron on the field, who looks like Santana’s Uncle Fidel…
Pull us thru tonight folks!
BAS is the man!
June 12th, 20125:14 pm
And by the way, as everyone of course knows, cheese is just about the worst thing out there for you.
Not that it matters.
June 12th, 20125:15 pm
I hate when head into a game with virtually no chance, but that is the case tonight. Hope we can avert the sweep tomorrow.
Great idea there, Brandon lee….
course lotsa folks place a slice of cheddar on their apple pie
June 12th, 20125:16 pm
Kentavo, your optimism might become contagious…..easy does it.
Kraft singles ain’t cheese its soft yellow plastic
So Heyward is sitting against 2 tough AL lefties that he hasn’t seen much of. I’m pretty sure he’ll be in there regularly when we get back to the NL schedule. Unless of course, Diaz gets hot…..
June 12th, 20125:17 pm
Can’t beat the ole low cal, Mac special, the Bacon Cheddar at Burger King!!
Over the last 8 games Jason Heyward is hitting .323, has 6 RBI’s, 2 HR’s, 2 doubles, and 3 multi-hit games, yet Fredi has benched him now in 2 of the last 3 games.
In the month of May and all the way up until almost the first week of June when he was terrible Fredi only sat him twice even though he was really struggling. June 5th comes around and Heyward gets hot, starts tearing the cover off the ball and looking like the old J-Hey at the plate and Fredi starts to sit him more????
Feel bad for Heyward he’s been one of our best hitters and players overall in June and when he finally starts to get it going and strings together 3 multi hit games over the past week Fredi decides to bench him twice in 3 days. That’s definitely not going to help J-Hey continue his hot streak and it’s not going to help his confidence. Just like pulling when he saw the first sign of trouble was good for Teheran’s confidence. I don’t think Fredi knows how to really manage/develop young players.
I’m afraid that Fredi G isn’t good for Heyward’s future and isn’t helping him to develop properly. You don’t sit a hot bat. I mean hell you played him for an entire month when he was doing terrible and now he starts getting hot and getting it going and you bench him again????
June 12th, 20125:18 pm
“course lotsa folks place a slice of cheddar on their apple pie”
Seriously? Intentionally? You’ve tried? Verdict?
you ain’t lived until you eat a few Kraft singles each day!
June 12th, 20125:19 pm
One would think based on some of the posts here that the RF only plays on offense. You lose a lot with Diaz in RF over JH, mostly speed. I can think of 2 or 3 catches recently that Jayson made that I doubt MD would have made. Against the Yanks I don’t think I would be cutting myself short on defense. I would certainly take my chances with JH(ESPECIALLY SINCE HE’s BEEN HOT LATELY) and stick with him. Besides that look at the speed on the basepath difference. Anybody here think Matt Diaz would have done what JH did the other night to win that game? NO, I didn’t think so. FG just showing his ignorance and over-analyzing again. If he had a brain he would take it out and play with it. Absolutely no common sense and logic in that head of his.
It does no good to question what FG does or doesn’t do. His mind is like swiss cheese….
June 12th, 20125:20 pm
Base-ref has been failing on me today. Not sure what the heck is going on. Didn;t know that was the line.
Jason has hit .321/.345/.607/.952 in June but one should know, Jason has hit .400/.429/.750/1.179 against right handers in June and only .182/.182/.273/.455 against left handers.
One last thought about the quality of umpires in baseball today. There should be a system whereby a team can log a complaint about the umpiring in a specific game. There should be an automatic review of those games, and then dock these guys when they screw up too much. And if they can’t get it right, then fire their azz.
And any showing up of players and managers should result in a suspension.
These guys make good money, they should be held to a high standard of quality.
Drives me crazy the different strike zones that umps have.
Big Sombrero for Matt Diaz tonight…we need Heyward every day…
not bad, but I don’t do it regular BAS. I think i saw the apple/cheddar combos more in the Baltimore to Boston area than other psrts of the country
I didnt realize Heyward had been playing that well, no way I’d sit him after seeing the numbers.
June 12th, 20125:21 pm
Does have awful splits tho, but the only way he’ll improve is going against them tho.
I’m confused. Is this a Braves baseball blog or a food blog? Reminds me of that saying, ” I went to a hockey game and a boxing match broke out”!
June 12th, 20125:22 pm
that headline got me too. i almost choked on my sundrop.
June 12th, 20125:23 pm
I’ll be shocked if the Braves win tonight. I’m expecting the Braves to officially lose this series tonight. Wouldn’t be surprised if CC goes deep into tonights game and holds us to a couple of meaningless hits and 2 ER’s or less. Also, I expect Minor will give up 3 HR’s in tonights game and 5 ER total over 5.2 innings. Braves lose 7-3.
If all we talked about was baseball, a boxing match would break out here, too!…
if Jason wasn’t so dang toolsy that you want to play him most of the time to try to get him going, he and Diaz would actually make a very good platoon, kinda like Klesko and Ice were for a few years
June 12th, 20125:24 pm
Big effort by Braves tonight winning similar to beating Price in Tampa a couple weeks back. Chipper doesn’t get hurt playing defense but pulls a muscle running after hitting a 2 run shot. Braves win 5-3 but bittersweet win as Chipper placed on DL Wednesday morning.
Statement lineup card………..
Sorry, not optimistic at all – Minor’s going to have that deer-in-the-headlights look by the first inning.
What do you do, David ; go to the same scholl as Jeff Shultz…”On Monday the Judge” . . . Really was that a Noun or a Verb Jeff???, or was it one of those after, After-thoughts. just prior to the brain Shutting Down for the Day. the Judge…
June 12th, 20125:25 pm
you might try reading the blog description on the upper right side…..
Yeah, I thought we had made a deal for Demptser, too, when I read that headline
June 12th, 20125:26 pm
You picking up the wrong Kraft singles my friend … This stuff is beast. BMac-approved for Cheeseburgers…
