Mikey – First of all, Ibanez was still with the Phillies when we got Diaz from the Pirates. Second, Ibanez hits LH and Diaz hits RH – and we’re a LH heavy team – Ibanez was not what we needed.

How bad has B-Mac been?

Since July 8th of 2011 (100 games) Mac has only had 17 multi-hit games, he is 77 for his last 354 (.217avg) while scoring a dreadful .693 OPS!!!!! Say what you want but if this goes on much longer you have to start thinking he might be on the downside of his career…can he turn it around, SURE, but how long do you wait for him to turn into russel martin?

Looks like Schafer was the best of the lot the ‘Stros got in the Bourn deal. Olberholtzer has ERA just south of 5.00, Clemens’ is over 6.00, and Abreu’s is over 7.00. I understand two of those guys pitch in the PCL, but it certainly doesn’t look like the Braves will regret that trade long term, even if they can’t lockup Bourn after the season.

It amazes me that more posters are more concerned about the headline(which is technically correct) than the fact that DOB made a mistake in his lineup in two different places. In the article he has CJ and Prado both at 3B, and in his post later he did the same thing. Now, knowing FG it wouldn’t surprise me if that’s true. With the way CJ played last night putting them both there would have it covered, and who needs a leftfielder when the Yanks are batting. Makes sense to me! As for the headline it comes down to one thing. It depends on whether you read “trade” as a verb or a noun. Try it, you’ll see the difference. The first time I read it(just like most) I read it as a verb, when it is actually a noun in this case. (Thanks to my paraplegic 10th grade English teacher, Helen Powell, God rest her sweet soul, she gave me all A’s).

Over the last 8 games Jason Heyward is hitting .323, has 6 RBI’s, 2 HR’s, 2 doubles, and 3 multi-hit games, yet Fredi has benched him now in 2 of the last 3 games.

In the month of May and all the way up until almost the first week of June when he was terrible Fredi only sat him twice even though he was really struggling. June 5th comes around and Heyward gets hot, starts tearing the cover off the ball and looking like the old J-Hey at the plate and Fredi starts to sit him more????

Feel bad for Heyward he’s been one of our best hitters and players overall in June and when he finally starts to get it going and strings together 3 multi hit games over the past week Fredi decides to bench him twice in 3 days. That’s definitely not going to help J-Hey continue his hot streak and it’s not going to help his confidence. Just like pulling when he saw the first sign of trouble was good for Teheran’s confidence. I don’t think Fredi knows how to really manage/develop young players.

I’m afraid that Fredi G isn’t good for Heyward’s future and isn’t helping him to develop properly. You don’t sit a hot bat. I mean hell you played him for an entire month when he was doing terrible and now he starts getting hot and getting it going and you bench him again????

One would think based on some of the posts here that the RF only plays on offense. You lose a lot with Diaz in RF over JH, mostly speed. I can think of 2 or 3 catches recently that Jayson made that I doubt MD would have made. Against the Yanks I don’t think I would be cutting myself short on defense. I would certainly take my chances with JH(ESPECIALLY SINCE HE’s BEEN HOT LATELY) and stick with him. Besides that look at the speed on the basepath difference. Anybody here think Matt Diaz would have done what JH did the other night to win that game? NO, I didn’t think so. FG just showing his ignorance and over-analyzing again. If he had a brain he would take it out and play with it. Absolutely no common sense and logic in that head of his.

Jason has hit .321/.345/.607/.952 in June but one should know, Jason has hit .400/.429/.750/1.179 against right handers in June and only .182/.182/.273/.455 against left handers.

One last thought about the quality of umpires in baseball today. There should be a system whereby a team can log a complaint about the umpiring in a specific game. There should be an automatic review of those games, and then dock these guys when they screw up too much. And if they can’t get it right, then fire their azz.

And any showing up of players and managers should result in a suspension.

These guys make good money, they should be held to a high standard of quality.

Drives me crazy the different strike zones that umps have.
