Seriously, it’s easier to watch and accept the performance of the Braves once you realize what seems to be pretty much a fact. The team just isn’t that good. And they are never healthy.
Offense is spotty.
Starting pitching is spotty.
Bullpen is spotty.
Half the roster is ailing half the time.Pitchers have aches and pains, can’t make starts. Pitchers have tenderness and aren’t available. Position players are running a fever and/or can’t see and aren’t available. Some tweak a groin from swinging the bat. Senior people on the roster have diminished reflexes and get hurt from being struck by the ball.
Something you can count on with this team. They are NEVER 100% healthy with their roster. This isn’t the first year this has happened, it’s almost a team trait. Half the roster are head cases who seem to panic at the first sign of a close game or full house. A full time team shrink might help.
I know this isn’t football but it has become pretty obvious that this team would benefit from a mandatory conditioning regimen instead of just whatever the individual feels like doing to get/stay in shape. And if by chance I have erred and they already have a mandatory conditioning regimen…. then the one they have ain’t working!

I don’t eat much cereal anyway since it tends to raise my blood sugar – even without the sugar and whole grain.

I was sitting there last night watching the ARod AB and was hoping for a walk after the count was full.
Oh well. FG is probably the reason Venters hung that sinker, resulting in the laserbeam grandslam.
He told JV to hang it because he hates Minor and wants to send him to Gwinnett sooner rather than later.

As bad as Venters and Gearrin were, you have to hand it to the Yanks, they hit the HR’s, got the big hits when they needed to and it wasn’t off of Livan, but a side arm sinker guy and JV, who throws 94. that’s a stacked lineup over there top to bottom. 7-8 guys with 10 or more HR’s. It’s like playing an allstar team. IMO they are way more impressive than a Toronto or a Tampa Bay.

That game stunk on every level from the eighth on. Stupid comment of the night: ARoid talking about his “historic” homer: “I almost felt like it was a swing for the team,” Rodriguez said. “I felt like everybody needed that hit. We’ve all been waiting for it, but it definitely feels good to pick up our big man CC and to give our team a win.” Gee, man, I thought you were ALWAYS supposed to hit for the team. It really is somewhat remarkable. I saw more boneheaded posts after the GS last night than I could ever before recall. Blaming DOB, Venters, Large Livan, FG, FW, even Bobby Cox. Heck, a few blamed bloggers.
Nevermind that ARod is one of the all time greatest players to ever don a uniform.
Sure, I wish Minor had stayed out there, but with him, the very same thing could have happened.
Next time, let’s score somemore dang runs when we have the chance. that might help a bit more than blaming the known world for a loss.

At some point in my life, though, I realized that, whether the Braves win or lose, it doesn’t really make my life any better or worse. A Braves win can’t compare to listening to my 6 year old sing a Beach Boys tune, or big huggy hug from the 4 year old…

Yeah, we should have won last night. I get that. Of course, EOF was unavailable. Hernandez, Martinez, and Durbin have each had some issues (although Durbin pretty solid lately), and each subject to giving some up. Most dependable move would have been Kimbrell…IF you could get him warmed up fast enough. Also, better to walk a guy with bases loaded, than to “serve one up”.
Oh, and I’m sick ofthe “we sould have won the Toronto game” talk. Why? because we had a 4 run lead early. EVERY BP pitcher failed. Hard for me to blame Fredi a lot for a game that we LOST BY 8 RUNS! Hell, a better manager may have lost by only 2-3.

Let’s be honest…. What has Chipper done for the Atlanta Braves?
Don’t get me wrong. He has put up great numbers and will be in the HOF no doubt. But those are all things for Chipper not the team.
1. No championships (1995 was not really about him)
2. No team leadership besides the made for TV dugout sessions that other players were laughing at because it was so corny.
3. No leadership. Guy is soft and had influenced other Braves to sit when minor injuries or sickness (because that is what they see Chipper do).
4. Helped run Escobar out of town because he chatters too much next to him at SS. Really? Go back and read the write ups on here and you will see his quotes.
5. Now he is back again and the team looks sluggish like it did before he got “hurt” again.
I know many don’t agree with me and this is just an OPINION before all the haters rip me apart.
But think about it. besides the Crazy Train music at Turner, what do you remember as an epic moment where he took this team to the next level? There are plenty of Chipper moments but not Braves team moments. Move on 90’s and release your hostages.

Yeah, DOB, Braves need a manager who grew up on the mean streets, like Girardi. Nothing prepares you for the NY media circus like a Peoria, IL, Catholic High School education, followed by four grueling years at N’Western U in Evanston. If you can make it there, you can make it anywhwere.
The depth to which the self-loathers (that’s my term for the whiners) will dig to lay blame is just amazing.
Personally, at this point in the season, I’m more happy about Minor mowing down the Yanks for 7 and the team losing than I would be if he’d been blown up in the 4th and we won 9-8.

Can’t agree with your comment that the Braves shouldn’t and wouldn’t deal for the quick fix; Michael Bourn, whose contract expires at the end of this year AND is represented by hard-fisted agent Scott Boras, falls into the exact same category as Teixeira. If the Braves don’t trade him by July 31, he will walk at season’s end, leaving an enormous void in center field and at the top of the order. My guess is that Freddie Freeman’s eye problems, Eric O’Flaherty’s elbow woes, and continued slumps by Jason Heyward and Brian McCann, plus Chipper’s fragility, will knock the Braves out of contention by July 31 and force them to make some of the deals they should have made during the fruitless off-season.

I don’t get people that say “it’s just one game” because if the team in front of you wins when Braves lose it is actually two games. Braves were one game out and have lost three straight while Nats have one five straight. The point morons is to be in first, not see how many games you can fall behind. Rednecks are really dumb people.

I wouldn’t hold your breath for that one, tiger. I guess they could always surprise us though.

I notice that when I’m right on here, I get ignored which is funny. Is it my fault I called Fredi changing what was working and Braves would start losing? Sorry I’m not a puppet in Braves Country.

Baseball games usually turn on one or two significant innings. It is past time to use your closer when it really matters. No doubt Kimbrell should be used when the game is on the line and that means pitching the eight last night. This blowing 4 run leads against Toronto and NY could easily have been prevented by using Kimbrell when it matters.

The people that seem to blame O’Brien for Fredi’s decisions blow my mind.
But didn’t you know, DOB is on the phone with Fredi all game telling him what to do……….

Waffle, you get ignored because you aren’t worthy of a response. Some of us “rednecks” and “morons” are actually much more intelligent than you think.
