‘CATS win going away 8-1.

J.R. GRAHAM is piling up quite a record up in LYNCHBURG. Perhaps FREDI should have called on him last night. Heh! I guess the vitriol that gushed forth last p.m. shows the real hatred some BRAVES fans have for those dammed STANKIES!

he should have had Kimbrel warming up just in case Venters falters.

Which he has done fairly often so far this season. And just about anyone would have better a choice to face Swisher than Gearrin. Although, I hesitate to say that because Livan is sitting out there in the BP, but perhaps even Livan.

My grip with Fredi is that he generally has a quick hook with his starters (won’t let them pitch out of their own jams) but the opposite being true of his relievers…Venters hasn’t been the same all season (despite having pitched better of late) and after the single and walk…Yes, for Shaun’s sake, let Kimbrel get a five out save…

I have admittedly turned a blind eye towards Fredi but last night may have been the death nail…

I really wish Fredi was managing in New York or Boston, or even Philly. The way he gets snappy when asked “hard” questions (and I use that term loosely), he wouldn’t last half a season. He has allowed this team to give up way too many big innings. There is no reason one relief pitcher should give games away and let them get out of hand. Fredi just sits there and watches Venters blow it, just like he watches Livan blow it. What is Kimbrel 12? Is there a reason he can’t pitch for 5 outs? Anyone who doesn’t see that this game and many others should have been managed differently are kidding themselves. I don’t blame DOB for not asking Fredi about his moves. For one, he’s not gonna last long in the clubhouse if he starts doing that in Atlanta, and two, he and Fredi are motorcycle buddies. DOB’s lost his objectivity there.

3. Stop trying to be like Cox. You will never be him, ever.

I see that the morons were out in full force last night, laying into DOB because kicking their dogs just wasn’t cutting it.

Disappointing loss for the Braves. Where Venters old effectiveness has gone is a mystery. Watching Venters struggle against the Yankees’ sluggers (before the slam), I was wondering why Fredi didn’t pull him. But that’s easier said watching the game on TV in the comfort of my home.

But let’s give credit to Minor. He stepped up last night and should have had a W against a very tough team. Let’s hope that last night was a turnaround performance for Minor. That would be a very welcome development.

Exactly. Not when you have the options of Delgado, Minor, Teheran, and Jurrjens. Once all those fail you take Medlen out of the bullpen, all those options haven’t even come close to failing. And Medlen has the stuff and mental makeup to be an 7th or 8th inning reliever depending on match-ups.

I’m not a huge McCann fan at this point in time…but the guy has to be frustrated after all of those balls he hit deep were caught, or were only doubles. Braves need the offense to get going again, and need some bullpen help immediately. Venters looks like he is a 7th inning guy this year, EOF is hurting, and Kimbrel can only be used in the 9th. Medlen your only other 7th-9th inning guy is down in AAA becoming a starter you don’t need.

Really? Gee, you should say so once in a while…

but the guy has to be frustrated after all of those balls he hit deep were caught, or were only doubles.

He’s definitely frustrated about the outs, but I wouldn’t say the same about the Doubles. He was prolly a little peeved that the one bounced into the stands, preventing a run, but MattE made up for that. But I think he’ll take the Doubles—Doubles used to kinda be his specialty.

Only Doubles”?…Come on, now, REALLY!… ;)

Crazy – Pretty much what I said after that game. I would have put in O’Flaherty and hope he got a double play grounder to save Teheran’s rookie behind.

If he’s hurting then we need a ground ball specialist. Moylan might help in that regard against RH hitters when (if) he comes back, but if I were Frank Wren, I’d be looking for someone who can.

While my choices last night were not quite as eclectic as ones mentioned here, I want everyone to know that my plate was thoroughly enjoyed. Props to whoever started that thread yesterday.

If you had read the game time comments you could have had some free whine to go with it.

Morning all,

Tough nite after Minor pitched his heart out.

Just curious what the Braves brain trust have in mind now. Both Delgado and Minor have pitched pretty well in their last 2 starts, Meds is close to ready?

I was not for stretching Meds out to be a starter when we have 4 guys (JJJ, JT, Delgado and Minor) that should be able to handle 2 spots.

WIth Viz on the shelf, the only RH pen arm one can count on is Kimbrel.

We need another relief pitcher that FG can count on EVEN when Venters gets his act together again.

I’m just glad I turned the game off after the 7th to do some things around the house figuring it was in the bag and by doing so…. I didn’t have to suffer through the headache of the 8th.

McFann – I think the effect would be cumulative. I mean, yes he did hit some doubles, but when he finally gets a hold of them, they are either caught at the wall, or bounce over the wall and don’t drive in the runs. Gotta be frustrating. Would be nice to see the Braves have one of those offensive breakout games.

Gotta lose some pounds…I went 3 weeks without working out or running. And ate a lot. We’re talking McCann’s “the usual” at McDonald’s here.

Plus, I went to Fago de Chao (sp?) on Saturday. And they just kept coming out with more and more beef. You keep saying “I’m stuffed” but then they come up…”House special?”

sighhhh “Yes.”

Bat, good one, LOL.

I’m guessing that the pinot noir I was sipping had a little better “nose” than the blog whine, though. Glad I went that way, instead.

Just a regular ham sandwich. Kroger sells these real nice sandwiches for $4.99, but they’ll usually make way for the new ones and sell the old ones for $1.99.

I’m not a big Fredi fan nor was I one of those calling for his instant hiring but I do hope that he has success. I’m kind of at the point right now that it’s not going to be with Atlanta, he does make a lot of head scratching moves.
