‘CATS win going away 8-1.
J.R. GRAHAM is piling up quite a record up in LYNCHBURG. Perhaps FREDI should have called on him last night. Heh! I guess the vitriol that gushed forth last p.m. shows the real hatred some BRAVES fans have for those dammed STANKIES!

phil, If you are not outraged by the managing of Fredi Gonzalez, you need to go follow another sport..
if you paid attention and didn’t just join the brigade of the insane when we lose one we should’ve won, you would know I’m hardly one of FG’s biggest fans.
June 13th, 20127:12 am
I’m guessing we took the loss in stide and with dignity?

I don’t get all the hate for DOB… he does a great job.
I don’t get why the people that “hate” DOB keep coming back. If he’s so awful, find something else.
And can we keep the word “hate” in perspective. I hate cancer. Not DOB because he doesn’t question Fredi 1920’s detective style under a hot lamp.
Bunch of maroons!
You’d think DOB pitched the 8th inning last night or he is the manager of the team, judging from some of those comments. Complete idiots.
Minor pitched a great game… and then we gave it up.
Now, moving on to Wednesday………
June 13th, 20127:27 am
I don’t get why the people that “hate” DOB keep coming back.
Some of us appreciate the work you do DOB.

ROMANS split a double-header losing the opener 1-5, and winning the night-cap 4-3
Two-hits and three-errors says it all.

I mean, I don’t like pickles. So when I go to a restaurant, I don’t say “Cheese burger please, and extra pickles!!”
And then gripe and moan when my burger has pickles.
June 13th, 20127:30 am
But I guess you take the good and bad with the internet, I suppose.
June 13th, 20127:31 am
he should have had Kimbrel warming up just in case Venters falters.
Which he has done fairly often so far this season. And just about anyone would have better a choice to face Swisher than Gearrin. Although, I hesitate to say that because Livan is sitting out there in the BP, but perhaps even Livan.
June 13th, 20127:37 am
I kinda wish DOB would spend more time interacting with the regulars (who appreciate his work) than spend time dishing and commenting on the nozzle’s that like to post for purely reactionary reasons…
June 13th, 20127:41 am
DOB- There are many rational ones amoung us who appreciate the great job you and Carroll do here and for the newspaper. This blog is the best in the industry, in spite of trolls and the ignorant. Thank you very much for what you do, and carry on. (To the trolls and whiners…I’m not “sucking up”…it just needed to be said)
My grip with Fredi is that he generally has a quick hook with his starters (won’t let them pitch out of their own jams) but the opposite being true of his relievers…Venters hasn’t been the same all season (despite having pitched better of late) and after the single and walk…Yes, for Shaun’s sake, let Kimbrel get a five out save…
I have admittedly turned a blind eye towards Fredi but last night may have been the death nail…
June 13th, 20127:48 am
15 runs, 15 hits, 7 errors as the BRAVES beat the BREWERS 9-6 in a real brawl of a game to retain sole possession of first place in their division.
3B JOHAN CAMARGO [.385 BA] 3-5, 2 R, 1 RBI , 1 SO.
SS CRISTIAN PALACIOS [.300 BA] 1-3, 1 RBI . 1 SO, 1 SAC, 1 E [3, fielding].
1B IBRAHIM McKENZIE [.241 BA] 2-5, 2 R, 2 HR , 6 RBI , 1 SO.
C ALEXANDER De La CRUZ [.294 BA] 1-4, 1 SO.
RHSP RICHARD PAULINO [5.14 ERA] 2.0 IP, 3 H, 4 R/ER, 4 BB, 4 SO, 1 E [1, Pick-Off].
RHRP JESUS JONES [6.35 ERA] 2.0 IP, 3 H, 1 R/ER, 1 BB.
RHRP RAY CABRERA [W 1-0, 0.00 ERA] 2.0 Ip pristine, 4 SO. Great win!
RHRP JORGE ZAVALA [H 1, 0.00 ERA] 2.0 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 1 SO.
RHRP RAFAEL RODRIGUEZ [SV 2, 0.00 ERA] 1.0 IP, 1 BB.
June 13th, 20127:49 am
I will be really upset if the idiots ever drive DOB away to a different job.
June 13th, 20127:54 am
Where would he go? There’s idiots everywhere.
Unless he finds a job as a roller coaster tester or something
June 13th, 20127:58 am
June 13th, 20128:08 am
I can’t find anybody here or on a Mark Bradley/Shultz blog who likes Fredi as a manager. Also Bowman has commenter’s and not a one likes FG either. Very sad. But the guy keeps making crazy decisions that seem to cost the team. He’s also not a stand up guy. “I never mess up. Just tip my cap to the other guys”. People don’t respect that.
June 13th, 20128:09 am
You know, DLed gets to judge (and decide on) the Falcons cheerleaders…
June 13th, 20128:11 am
I saw that picture of Venters, head down, shoulders slumped, walking off the mound and all that popped into my head was the Charlie Brown sad song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oabcM9SOF-E
Fredi G = clueless
June 13th, 20128:13 am
I really wish Fredi was managing in New York or Boston, or even Philly. The way he gets snappy when asked “hard” questions (and I use that term loosely), he wouldn’t last half a season. He has allowed this team to give up way too many big innings. There is no reason one relief pitcher should give games away and let them get out of hand. Fredi just sits there and watches Venters blow it, just like he watches Livan blow it. What is Kimbrel 12? Is there a reason he can’t pitch for 5 outs? Anyone who doesn’t see that this game and many others should have been managed differently are kidding themselves. I don’t blame DOB for not asking Fredi about his moves. For one, he’s not gonna last long in the clubhouse if he starts doing that in Atlanta, and two, he and Fredi are motorcycle buddies. DOB’s lost his objectivity there.
June 13th, 20128:17 am
Went back to read part of the blog from yesterday afternoon, and you guys had some great cheese plate choices, including some I had not considered. While my choices last night were not quite as eclectic as ones mentioned here, I want everyone to know that my plate was thoroughly enjoyed. Props to whoever started that thread yesterday.
(Luckily, the plate was empty and in the dishwasher before the 8th last night. ‘Cause I really like that plate, and I have a feeling I might have been slingin’ that mutha at the TV, had it been handy.)
June 13th, 20128:18 am
1. get your ass out there and protect your player on a blown call and not just a “hey blue, ya think you were right on that call? Ok, if ya say so, have a great rest of the game”.
2. Stop looking mad and confused all the time
3. Stop trying to be like Cox. You will never be him, ever.
4. Take a tad bit of blame. Not everything is “our” fault. YOU made that certain decision that turned the game shi**y.
5. Grow a pair of b*lls and a brain.
June 13th, 20128:21 am
Halbert, perfectly said on Fredi.
June 13th, 20128:24 am
Ease, so basically you’re saying you’re a rat?
McFann :Ô: :Ô: :ô:
June 13th, 20128:25 am
OK, new day. Apologize for my comments last night—bad mood and all that, but name-calling is hardly ever necessary…
You around? You asked me about a commercial last night, and I was about to answer when that danged grand slam happened—we were about 25 minutes behind on the game for a while, so I was fast-forwarding the commercials…
June 13th, 20128:37 am
“You’ve got to flush it. That’s why we play this game, man. Every day is a new opportunity, it’s a new game. When you start dwelling on the last couple of days or yesterday, that’s how you get yourself into bad funks.”
So, let’s not get into a bad funk on this blog today. You heard the man, flush it! These types of things happen over the course of a season. With that said, let’s go get them tonight Huddy. At least salvage one out of this series and know we should have taken the series from the “all mighty”.
Name calling is childish unless you’re talking about spoiled pro athletes who are arrogant. Most of them are, so fire away …
June 13th, 20128:38 am
Chipper say it well…move on this is Baseball…we have another day and another game to play today.
I will not surprise if Johhny wake up with a sore elbow today…He’s not te same Johhny
of last year.
June 13th, 20128:40 am
I see that the morons were out in full force last night, laying into DOB because kicking their dogs just wasn’t cutting it.
Disappointing loss for the Braves. Where Venters old effectiveness has gone is a mystery. Watching Venters struggle against the Yankees’ sluggers (before the slam), I was wondering why Fredi didn’t pull him. But that’s easier said watching the game on TV in the comfort of my home.
But let’s give credit to Minor. He stepped up last night and should have had a W against a very tough team. Let’s hope that last night was a turnaround performance for Minor. That would be a very welcome development.
June 13th, 20128:42 am
Now… some one taking the NL East…..wow the National looking good everything working good for them….SP,Pen…Hitting.
Time for Venters to hang ‘em up!!!
June 13th, 20128:47 am
Don’t drive DOB to this… I want that job
June 13th, 20128:48 am
Ease, so basically you’re saying you’re a rat? – (CTB)
Name calling is childish unless you’re talking about spoiled pro athletes who are arrogant. – (CTB)
And you sir are dumb and unfunny…but I guess I can call you that since yo are a pro something right?
Freddie Freeman now down to .250/.296/.434, 94 OPS+ in 233 plate appearances this season.
McFann, I’m not at home right now, but sometime soon, we (you,me,other bloggers) need to get your video issues worked out…
Of course, ChattTownBrian (CTB) jumps on the blog after a bitter Braves loss to fire all his poison darts at whoever he can think of: managers, players, mascots…
Braves start winning again, and ol’ ChattTownBrian (CTB) will melt into the shadows, anxiously awaiting yet another opportunity to lambaste Fredi, Warren Spahn, Chief-Knock-a-Homer, Turner Field’ turf, the beer, the red hots – ah, the list’s just too long.
June 13th, 20128:49 am
I mean, I don’t like pickles. So when I go to a restaurant, I don’t say “Cheese burger please, and extra pickles!!”
And then gripe and moan when my burger has pickles.
A restaurant? Don’t like pickles ………….. Then back in the day these were your guys, though Mickey D’s had better fries.
June 13th, 20128:50 am
scoots, I love cheese and bread. Not the two best things to like, but to me, there ain’t nothing better. Swiss, Pepperjack, italian or portugese bread, olives, raw onion, and hot peppers – could pretty much live off of that. Although it may not be for a while.
June 13th, 20128:51 am
Looks like there was indeed some Ventered spleen last night.
June 13th, 20128:52 am
Freeman vs. LHP .222/.273/.346 in 88 plate appearances.
June 13th, 20128:55 am
Efrim- should they platoon Prado at firstbase? Need to deal with the Heyward issue buddy.
Dan Uggla in his last years worth of plate appearances: .268/.366/.519
June 13th, 20128:56 am
Need to deal with the Heyward issue buddy.
Not sure what you mean.
I really think that Heyward starts last night if we are not as top heavy with lefties in the lineup. If Ross starts, Heyward plays. Bourn, Freeman, McCann, and Heyward in the lineup is not what you want against CC.
June 13th, 20128:57 am
Bonehead move of the year..Braves stretching out Kris Medlen. Ok, so now what do you do that the Braves bullpen is depleted and we currently have 5 functioning starters? Leave Medlen in AAA?
June 13th, 20129:00 am
As soon as Florida kicked Fredi out a couple of seasons ago, the blog was ablaze saying he would be ideal for the Braves.
Now it seems most of you don’t like the job he’s doing.
June 13th, 20129:01 am
What do you do right now if you’re Frank Wren? EOF with a sore elbow. Venters, clearly not very effective. You sent Medlen down to get stretched out, but now it looks like you need him in the bullpen. Perfect storm and it may lead him to put Meds back in the pen – which would be bizarre.
1) Why is Livan Hernandez and his 82 mph fastball still here?
2) Why don’t Delgado and Martinez stay here for good?
3) Why was Venters pitching to A-Rod (ahhh, the ol’ lefty-righty matchup)?
4) Why was Gearrin pitching to Nick Swisher (of course, teh ol’ right-lefty matchup)?
5) Why is Livan Hernandez and his 82 mph fastball still here?
June 13th, 20129:03 am
The braves are doom3d.
He’s never around, but PW Hjort was all over that way before Fredi was brought on. I remember him saying Fredo would be the worst possible choice to replace Cox, and that was long before it happened.
Ask FW… I still don’t understand that move. Even if Meds came back to start, who is our trusted RHP in the ‘pen?
June 13th, 20129:04 am
I don’t blame DOB for not asking Fredi about his moves. For one, he’s not gonna last long in the clubhouse if he starts doing that in Atlanta, and two, he and Fredi are motorcycle buddies. DOB’s lost his objectivity there. _ Halbert
Huge mistake taking that ride to interview Fredi when he was hired. Shoulda borrowed an interview room at the APD to set the tone for the manager/reporter relationship.
June 13th, 20129:05 am
CTB unless you’re talking about spoiled pro athletes who are arrogant.
Guess that’s true…
That’d be really groovy if we could! Sick of this nonsense…
Why is Livan Hernandez and his 82 mph fastball still here?
My fastball is 84. I’m better than Livan!!!
June 13th, 2012
“…….I really think that Heyward starts last night if we are not as top heavy with lefties in the lineup. If Ross starts, Heyward plays. Bourn, Freeman, McCann, and Heyward in the lineup is not what you want against CC……”
Yeah, let’s ignore the fact that MATT DIAZ hits SABATHIA like a tom-tom.
June 13th, 20129:06 am
Frankie Wren Bourn, Freeman, McCann, and Heyward in the lineup is not what you want against CC.
Hey, BMac hit two Doubles…
Mike – Swisher is a switch hitter. If they had put in a LHRP, he would have batter RH.
June 13th, 20129:07 am
“Ask FW… I still don’t understand that move. Even if Meds came back to start, who is our trusted RHP in the ‘pen?”
Exactly. Not when you have the options of Delgado, Minor, Teheran, and Jurrjens. Once all those fail you take Medlen out of the bullpen, all those options haven’t even come close to failing. And Medlen has the stuff and mental makeup to be an 7th or 8th inning reliever depending on match-ups.
And what Livan should be here for is to pitch in blowouts so the back end of the pen is not overworked in games they don’t need to pitch in. Not exactly how he’s used, though.
June 13th, 20129:11 am
You need to talk about the Braves and nothing but the Braves after we lose
The stupidity level here at times is amazing!!!
Then of course you also have idiots like Ward blaming Minor!!
June 13th, 20129:12 am
Interesting decisions need to be made soon, like right now. We’ve got Medlen,Minor, and Delgado able to start, but one needs to be in the pen. The Medlen experiment in Gwinnett has been costly and may have cost us two or three games after Sundays and last nights bullpen meltdowns. Let’s get Kris back along with another capable arm
June 13th, 20129:13 am
Oh well, it is just another loss. Shoulda won the game and didn’t. Same thing with the Toronto game. Move on. The offense still could be better, should’ve scored more runs in both of those games, had chances, didn’t execute. Bullpen needs some help as well.
Gotta win tonight. At least Minor pitched well, right?
June 13th, 20129:14 am
If we only talked about the Braves after a loss, the entire Blog as we know it might implode…
Hmm…maybe that’s not such a bad idea!…
June 13th, 20129:15 am
MFin04 At least Minor pitched well, right?
Right. And BMac seems to be coming around for real this time!…
June 13th, 20129:16 am
Fire Terry Pendleton.
Lew… If you have multiple pitchers in the bullpen that are effective then only 2 of those pichers should have roles that never change.
1. The closer pitches in the 9th to close games
2. The worst guy in the pen that can pitch multiple innings to close out blow outs so the rest of the pen isn’t wasted!!
Everyone else should be used when they are needed. Mondays game in the 5th should’ve been someone other than Livan!! I HATE that Fred seems to think OFLAR and Venters can only be used in late game situations!!!
June 13th, 20129:20 am
“Right. And BMac seems to be coming around for real this time!…”
Alright, I’ll take a ride on the positive, crazy train today…
I’m not a huge McCann fan at this point in time…but the guy has to be frustrated after all of those balls he hit deep were caught, or were only doubles. Braves need the offense to get going again, and need some bullpen help immediately. Venters looks like he is a 7th inning guy this year, EOF is hurting, and Kimbrel can only be used in the 9th. Medlen your only other 7th-9th inning guy is down in AAA becoming a starter you don’t need.
Overall, this team is still in good shape and Chipper is slowly going to get back into it, if he doesn’t get hurt. Gotta win tonight though.
June 13th, 20129:21 am
buck belue @buckbelue8
Get Medlen back up now. This “stretching out” thing hurt opp to win last night. Medlen recues Venters. Kimbrel closes it out.
and Sunday Buck, don’t forget Sunday…….
June 13th, 20129:26 am
I can’t find anybody here or on a Mark Bradley/Shultz blog who likes Fredi as a manager
I like Fredi
June 13th, 20129:27 am
But for the record, when I initially tried to post that comment, I got an “Internal Service Error“
You kool-aid drinker.
not to say that it’s guaranteed the Medlen rescues Venters, but it’s more likely…
June 13th, 20129:31 am
Here’s something positive: Braves are averaging 30,266 over 28 games in attendance. On pace for 2.45 million, which would surpass last years total of 2.37 million. And it should get better over the next 4 games with the Yankees tonight and a weekend series vs. the Orioles.
I like Fredi too, but after last night I about went crazy when EOF didn’t come in. Conveniently enough, after the game, an article surfaces that EOF couldn’t pitch last night, very convenient.
Either way, whatever, one of the best homerun hitters in the game beat our struggling reliever and our offense didn’t score enough. 4 games back in the division, still in 2nd place, gotta win tonight.
June 13th, 20129:32 am
I brought a sandwich to work today. It’s in my bag. It’s 9:30….I’m struggling not to eat it now
June 13th, 20129:33 am
MFin04 I’m not a huge McCann fan at this point in time…
Really? Gee, you should say so once in a while…
but the guy has to be frustrated after all of those balls he hit deep were caught, or were only doubles.
He’s definitely frustrated about the outs, but I wouldn’t say the same about the Doubles. He was prolly a little peeved that the one bounced into the stands, preventing a run, but MattE made up for that. But I think he’ll take the Doubles—Doubles used to kinda be his specialty.
“Only Doubles”?…Come on, now, REALLY!…
Crazy – Pretty much what I said after that game. I would have put in O’Flaherty and hope he got a double play grounder to save Teheran’s rookie behind.
If he’s hurting then we need a ground ball specialist. Moylan might help in that regard against RH hitters when (if) he comes back, but if I were Frank Wren, I’d be looking for someone who can.
June 13th, 20129:34 am
While my choices last night were not quite as eclectic as ones mentioned here, I want everyone to know that my plate was thoroughly enjoyed. Props to whoever started that thread yesterday.
If you had read the game time comments you could have had some free whine to go with it.
jeffrey d I brought a sandwich to work today. It’s in my bag. It’s 9:30….I’m struggling not to eat it now
Oh, I HATE that…cann be so hard…
June 13th, 20129:37 am
Eat half, jeffrey.
June 13th, 20129:39 am
Tough nite after Minor pitched his heart out.
Just curious what the Braves brain trust have in mind now. Both Delgado and Minor have pitched pretty well in their last 2 starts, Meds is close to ready?
I was not for stretching Meds out to be a starter when we have 4 guys (JJJ, JT, Delgado and Minor) that should be able to handle 2 spots.
WIth Viz on the shelf, the only RH pen arm one can count on is Kimbrel.
We need another relief pitcher that FG can count on EVEN when Venters gets his act together again.
I’m just glad I turned the game off after the 7th to do some things around the house figuring it was in the bag and by doing so…. I didn’t have to suffer through the headache of the 8th.
Who brings only 1 sandwich for lunch???
Yep, especially for McCann….
1 for 10 with runnner in scoring position, blame the offense as well.
It already is half…
June 13th, 20129:40 am
6 man rotation on the way, 7 if/when JJ gets back. Sounds awesome…
June 13th, 20129:45 am
I was listen to MLB XM Radio and the Detroit Fan want the same of the Braves Fan.
Fire there manager….Fan calling to fire Leland…wow….
June 13th, 20129:46 am
McFann – I think the effect would be cumulative. I mean, yes he did hit some doubles, but when he finally gets a hold of them, they are either caught at the wall, or bounce over the wall and don’t drive in the runs. Gotta be frustrating. Would be nice to see the Braves have one of those offensive breakout games.
Gotta lose some pounds…I went 3 weeks without working out or running. And ate a lot. We’re talking McCann’s “the usual” at McDonald’s here.
Plus, I went to Fago de Chao (sp?) on Saturday. And they just kept coming out with more and more beef. You keep saying “I’m stuffed” but then they come up…”House special?”
June 13th, 20129:50 am
Bat, good one, LOL.
I’m guessing that the pinot noir I was sipping had a little better “nose” than the blog whine, though. Glad I went that way, instead.
I brought a sandwich to work today.
Is it a Statement Ham Sandwich!?
June 13th, 20129:52 am
Ooh, jeffrey did you get yourself a bobblehead the other day?
Just a regular ham sandwich. Kroger sells these real nice sandwiches for $4.99, but they’ll usually make way for the new ones and sell the old ones for $1.99.
June 13th, 20129:54 am
I’m not a big Fredi fan nor was I one of those calling for his instant hiring but I do hope that he has success. I’m kind of at the point right now that it’s not going to be with Atlanta, he does make a lot of head scratching moves.
We talk baseball, other sports, music, movies, BBQ and whatever (except politics or religion)
