so far he has let the team down way more than they have let him down IMO, so I caint get all that worked up for him

Something tells me that although he wanted the win that he doesn’t mind walking away blameless for this loss. He did his job, finally. Doubt he loses sleep over this one so I won’t either.

Venters on falling behind 3-and-0 vs. A-Rod: “I felt frustrated because I felt good, and I just couldn’t make an adjustment to make a good pitch. I fell behind right there and I didn’t want to walk him. Maybe looking back I should have made a conscious effort to not leave that ball over the plate. I mean, I wasn’t trying to leave it over the plate, but maybe a walk right there is not terrible, with a lefty on deck and one of the best players who ever played the game hittig. But it is what it is. I made a bad pitch and he crushed it.”

Looks like they retooled CG’s pitches this year… seemed like when he came up they all broke down and away from LH last year (reminded me of Moylan), but this year they look straight. Why can’t these guys get LH out with a pitch that goes down and away from them?

You are about the age of my sons, so can I tell you something I tell them when they get stressed and let it affect their behavior?

You really can’t control what happens to you sometimes (though the choices you make can affect what happens to you to a degree). But you can control how you react to bad situations. Getting upset or angry is a choice. Letting things get to us is a choice we make.

Ironically enough I am probably one of the few people who doesn’t hate Lebron James and don’t get the constant hate for the guy. I’ve always felt he’s been consistent. He’s cocky like most of the superstar players, humble ones are few and far between, but he really didn’t do something all that unexpected in my book. He played hard for the Cavs and they treated him like a King. He never had the connection to the city that most assumed he would. He was from Ohio but I don’t think he truly loved Cleveland all that much. He wasn’t a fan of any of their teams growing up and openly rooted for the Yankees and Cowboys at their games. He never struck me as a Chipper type person who might take less to stay at home (ironically in the NBA he would have gotten more money to stay at home).

That summer I remember hearing about him trying to get players to come to Cleveland but they wouldn’t so he went elsewhere. I don’t think he lied to them or led them on like you say Fisher did. He never committed to them. Sucks for that city and that team but he isn’t the first free agent to leave the small market for the big lights. I’m no big fan of the guy but don’t hate him either.

Other than bringing in Kimbrel for a 5 out save, which would have been totally logical, his other option might have been his 2nd most reliable reliever over the past month plus – Chad Durbin. I’ll say it again, the dude hasn’t been scored on since May 7th.

David O…as you well know great teams play to win, every game! The question for coach should have been why not put your money man in the game, that being Kimbrell! This ain’t Frank’s fault. He’s given Fredi some great groceries, Fredi just ain’t cooking. Hell, I’d be surprised if he could even turn on an oven.

I like Frank and how he mostly stood pat this offseason but I did want him to go after a good veteran reliever for the back of the pen. Bit of a mess in there right now so some of this is on Frankie. Durbin and Livan aren’t exactly shutdown types but I will give Durbin credit, he’s been on a heck of a streak. We’ll see how long he keeps it up.

stizz,

I’m not sure if I ever criticized Fredi before tonight. After tonight, however, I’m not sure if there’s anything Fredi can do to redeem himself in my eyes. I’m no soothsayer, but as I listened to the 8th inning in my car, I knew what was going to happen when Rodriguez came to bat. I’m guessing Fredi’s the only person in the world who apparently didn’t know what was going to happen. And he still left Venters in the game. I know Venters threw the pitch(es), but to me tonight’s loss falls on Fredi’s shoulders.

I thought the best fit at the time time was actually Chicago with Rose so this is what happens when the players play GM, but honestly superteam is just another name for big market team. Boston traded for two former stars of their team and won a championship. The Lakers had to steal Gasol from LA. OKC is a rarity. In the big markets the superstars just seem to align whether by trade or Free Agency. Knicks are flunking the course though.
