DOB, thanks for not writing that McCann was “robbed” of a HR, like so many other recaps I’ve read today. From all replays, it appeared that the ball wasn’t going to quite make it over the wall, although it was certainly a well hit ball.

Heyward needs to bat higher than McCann and Freeman. Those two aren’t hitting as well, but they’re getting more at bats.

I was at the game last night….and we can blame delgardo & the pitching staff for the 3 on the board but not for the zero next to it.

unbelievable,

For better or worse, I think that Fredi likes to use the #3 hole to “get a hitter going”. That’s the only reason McCann would be there over Freeman. Freeman was doing great batting 3rd, then had eye trouble, scuffled, went to the bench, and was placed in the #5 hole when coming back. Not sure why he wasn’t given a chance to go back to #3.

If the Braves want to have a fighting chance of actually being able to compete in the playoffs, or even make the playoffs, they will HAVE to acqurie a proven starting pitcher. Minor, Delgado, Teheran, Medlen, JJ, just won’t cut it as the 4 and 5 starters, just look at the numbers.

Would a player like Matt Garza interest the Braves? They’d have him for a year and a half before he hits free agency and would definitely solidify the rotation.

The price would be higher than a half-year rental pitcher, but the Braves have a deep farm system and the Cubs will most likely be looking to move Garza this July for prospects. The Braves have plenty of young pitching prospects to deal, Minor and Delgado included.
