I said 2nd and 3rd parts!
We’ve pretty much exclusively played at a tavern in Conyers, but I got us 3 gigs at a restaurant in Dacula (where I live) and I asked my singing friend who I’ve played with many a time (mostly at church events) to play a couple songs with us. She’s got an incredible voice. I was thinking we’d open a set with me and her singing “You and Tequila” and then thhe whole band doing “Need You Now”
June 1st, 20129:07 pm
When are the braves going to give up on the Terdoslavich 3rd base experiment, battion .180 with 23 errors, he for sure will not be Chippers replacement next year.
might as well pull him, he’ll never finish no matter what happens
June 1st, 20129:08 pm
Agree nolie, but he just batted and Parnell sat down
Fredi already called the Mets and told them to pull him
June 1st, 20129:09 pm
He just sac bunted, so he will likely stay in…(don’t figure they needed the sac with a 5 run lead)…
June 1st, 20129:10 pm
But she’s my friend and not the band’s, and especially our lead singer is leary about adding her for a cuople songs
scairt for his job huh?
McFann :Ô: :Ô:
June 1st, 20129:11 pm
Cool! Bet it’ll be good…course now I’m gonna have “You and Tequila” stuck in my head forever…
Well how should I know? I’m not in the business…
good luck Santana, always willing to applaud another no-hitter
June 1st, 20129:13 pm
We sing “You and Tequila” pretty darn good
We also practiced a Norah Jones version of “Are You Lonesome Tonight?” yesterday. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5NHLsrWAw9k
Sucks that REV has to play behind that tonight, but I guess it ain’t any different than Minor
LOL, “REV”’s error with two out in the 5th led to 4 unearned runs. Doesn’t change the fact that JJ got pounded, of course. Hopefully he was just working on his ephus pitch or something.
June 1st, 20129:15 pm
I’m still so bitter about Jimmy Flipping Qualls on that July day 43 years ago, I’m not sure I ever want the Mets to have a no-no since Tom did not…(although he did eventually get one)…
June 1st, 20129:17 pm
ant guesses on the number of no-hitters thrown?
June 1st, 20129:18 pm
I knew it was Rev’s fault!!!!
June 1st, 20129:20 pm
buncha chickens… 274
June 1st, 20129:21 pm
Can’t believe none of the ants guessed…
June 1st, 20129:22 pm
Tyler Kepner @TylerKepner
It’s funny how people observe superstitions about no-hitters when the Mets have never thrown one. Whatever the superstition, do the reverse.
Jerry Crasnick @jcrasnick
@TylerKepner Hey, it worked for George Costanza #dotheopposite
What, we’re just ants to your queen antics?
June 1st, 20129:25 pm
he coulda called us pee-ons
June 1st, 20129:27 pm
cowdogit @ 7:45 pm: I’m pretty sure it was the other way around, or Leo would still have a Major League job. Are you related to Don?
June 1st, 20129:30 pm
it’s all a vast conspiracy that Bobby Cox started ken, that envolves every MLB GM. They sure do luv that ol’ guy enuff to keep Leo banned even after Bobby retired. now that is SOME pull
No No into the 9th
Near disaster there – Santana through 8 as the 2nd baseman and SS almost collide on pop…
June 1st, 20129:31 pm
Nothing on TV tonight…it’s an XM Classic Rock night in Smyrna! Rolling Stones “Miss You” and “Gimme Shelter”, Quicksilver Messinger Service “Fresh Air”, and Zeppelin “Dazed and Confused” (that song could apply to a LOT of bloggers around here).
Buster Olney @Buster_ESPN
Santana gets Beltran to pop out; he’s got 122 pitches. My guess: They yank him before the ninth.
June 1st, 20129:33 pm
15 pitches in the last inning? I’d give him a shot…
June 1st, 20129:40 pm
I think they’ll let Santana make the call
June 1st, 20129:41 pm
He’s batting in the 8th
Jim Powell @Jim_Powell
I can’t help but wonder if the news that Medlen is going down to stretch out and then join the #Braves rotation had a negative impact on JJ.
June 1st, 20129:42 pm
Please end the bottom of the 8th – for the first time since I’ve been here we have a work dinner to attend, but I have to watch this…
June 1st, 20129:43 pm
Here we go!!!!
June 1st, 20129:44 pm
One down on 1 pitch…
June 1st, 20129:46 pm
June 1st, 20129:48 pm
Johan’s tired…. hopefully his arm doesn’t fall off.
June 1st, 20129:49 pm
Well done, Johan!
Final line on JJ:
4.2 IP 12 H, 10 R, 6 ER, 2 BB, 3 HR, 87 pitches, 52 strikes
You know they work on certain pitches on certain nights down in the minors. I hope this was the “underhand toss night’ for JJ.
Congrats Johan and Mets!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hey nolie do you think he had some grit tonight?
June 1st, 20129:50 pm
I had no idea I would be so emotional – for all my family members who did not get the chance to see it!
June 1st, 20129:51 pm
and the Mets
June 1st, 20129:52 pm
glad they gave him the chance, musta ignored fredi’s call……
Keith Olbermann left the game very early on because he was feeling post-operative pain…he is taking credit…
June 1st, 20129:53 pm
KL & Cab: No strikeouts for JJ?
June 1st, 20129:54 pm
it was tainted.
Interesting program in progress on Bloomberg(comcast channel 251) now about Theo Epstein and the Cubs. It may be a repeat.
First Met to ever do it. Yeah that’s pretty cool. Though I really still hate that team.
June 1st, 20129:55 pm
Did you see security have to pull the crazy guy in the Carter jersey out of the dogpile? Unbelievable… well it is New York!
June 1st, 20129:56 pm
Somewhere Anders is doing the Carlton dance.
June 1st, 20129:57 pm
And nolie is doing donuts on his hoveround.
June 1st, 201210:00 pm
Braves didn’t win tonight. They suck ass!
June 1st, 201210:03 pm
SIMMONS 3-5 with a double and two runs scored, a walk, and an RBI in his first game as an ATLANTA BRAVE………….”oh wait……………huh, ow, you held my nose and woke me up.”!
The good wife……………” roll on your side and quit snoring please!”
“Yeah, yeah, good night dear.”
“Just a dream, just a dream, all our plans and all our schemes” JIMMY CLANTON
June 1st, 201210:06 pm
A sincere congrats to Johan and to Anders. I’ve been trying to tell you for years he would throw a no hitter but nobody would listen to me
Cap: Where's My Tip
sooooo … the Mets footage of their first ever no hitter will always and forever feature some random guy getting thrown to the ground, tackled, and escorted out by security.
June 1st, 201210:07 pm
Wow on Johan Santana. Impressive.
June 1st, 201210:11 pm
MLB TV showed a replay indicating it was tainted. After 50+ years, I think I’ll give ‘em the benefit of the doubt…
Wasnt Santana supposed to be done? I mean surgery? Many people said he was finished
How the hell does he throw a NO NO. This guy was supposed to be finished after the surgery and the loss of velocity
June 1st, 201210:12 pm
jj – 4.2 IP , 7 runs, 6 earned 3 BB, 2 W and 0 K.
Loving the new STP commercials with Drive By Trucker music playing and Mike Cooley himself narrating.
Congratulations VJ. Enjoy it for all of them. I am happy for you.
June 1st, 201210:13 pm
Sorry jj had 3 HR , 2 bb and 0 K’s
June 1st, 201210:18 pm
Wow, richbrave with a Jimmy Clanton reference. Well played, my friend, he is barely remembered these days. Reminds me of my first and still a very big crush: Annette Funicello.
Too bad the Cardinals couldn’t ruin Johan’s no-hitter.
June 1st, 201210:19 pm
Could you imagine the New York media if Collins had pulled Santana and a reliever gave up a hit late in the game. Collins hands were likely tied there. He did the right thing and fortunately…Santana delivered.
June 1st, 201210:26 pm
DOWN ON THE FARM
G-Men do all right, but the horror show put on by JAIR really gave them little chance of pulling out a win. They lose to the KNIGHTS 3-10. The relief slams the door, but a whole herd had already escaped the barn.
Lead-off CF LUIS DURANGO [.286 BA] 1-4, 1 BB, 1 SO.
SS TYLER PASTORNICKY [.200 BA] 1-5, 1 R, 1 SO, 1 SB , 1 E [throwing].
LF STEF GARTRELL [.259 BA] 1-5, 1 SO, 1 E [fielding].
DH ERNESTO MEJIA [.323 BA] 3-4, 1 R, 1 CS .
RF FELIX PIE [.271 BA] 2-4, 1 R, 1 RBI .
1B CHRIS MARRERO [.261 BA] 1-3, 1 RBI , 1 SF.
C JOSE YEPEZ [.265 BA] 0-3, 1 RBI , 1 SF.
RHSP JAIR JURJJENS [L 3-3, 5.56 ERA] 4.2 lost innings that don’t bear repeating!
LHRP JOSE LUGO [3.38 ERA] 2.1 IP, 1 H, zeros, 3 SO. Excellente! JOSE extinguishes the three state fire lit by JURRJENS.
LHRP DUSTY HUGHES [3.91 ERA] 2.0 IP, 3 H, zeros, 2 SO. great relief work tonight. Of course there’s the starting pitching.
June 1st, 201210:31 pm
You a geezerette?
ANNETTE FUNICELLO…..hot,hot,hot! And I, a lusty lad with burning eyes……heh!
Jurrjens ………. I think he has go to get rid of the knee braces.
June 1st, 201210:32 pm
You closing this one down tomorrow?
June 1st, 201210:37 pm
rich: if i’m here, maybe, why?
June 1st, 201210:56 pm
richbrave, yeah, me, nolie and scoots went to different schools together.
Annette was like the girl next door, but with big boobs, of which I have had a fascination for ever since then. I know, TMI, but it’s the truth.
June 1st, 201211:04 pm
other 1/2 said I had to finish all the yard work or not able to go the the game in gwinette tomorrow…
June 1st, 201211:05 pm
ken/nolie/scoots went to different schools together..
ok its that south LA thing again but can someone explaing that one to me???
June 1st, 201211:06 pm
Well no game for 2 days….got a need for a fix and MLB network is not the Braves….the new SS appears to be a nice addition….I will miss the Rev even though he was about the roughest fielding MLB SS I have ever seen….here’s hoping no more –streaks in June, well there’s going to be some and they better be the 2-3 gamers at the most as this team just has to be better than that ugly 8-gamer.
June 1st, 201211:08 pm
tiger297: it just means we are close to the same age regardless of where we grew up or went to school. Not sure where the term came from, a song I think.
said it before the streak of 40 games (or is it 41 brian?) stated I’d be happy with .500 ball through them and still feel that way.
June 1st, 201211:12 pm
tiger: Fire other half!!
June 1st, 201211:14 pm
For anyone who has ever driven on the expressways around the ATL, they are opening a new Interchange at I-285 and Ashford-Dunwoody Rd. Monday and it’s very futuristic. Here’s a link to the video of how it works: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gY8xU-UAQWs. And, if it works, it could be a big answer to a lifetime of traffic problems around here.
June 1st, 201211:19 pm
BISCUITS stomp the Bandits 9-1 because of poor PEARL RIVER starting pitching, and one middle reliefer.
Lead-off RF KEENAN WILEY [.286 BA] 1-4, 1 R, 1 2B , HAT TRICK.
2B PHILLIP GOSSELIN [.263 BA] 1-3, 1 BB, 1 SO, 1 SB .
1B IAN GAC [.238 BA] 1-4, 2 SO.
LF/3B ALDEN CARRITHERS [.286 BA] 0-3, 1 BB, 2 SO, 1 Outfield Assist [home].
C BARRETT KLEINKNECHT [.184 BA] 1-1, 1 2B , 1 BB, 1 SB .
RHSP DAVID HALE [4.94 ERA] 3.2 IP, 5 H, 6 R/ER, 7 BB, 3 SO. Stinker-roo!!!!
RHRP BRETT CAMMONS [10.80 ERA] 0.1 IP, 3 H, 2 R/ER, 1 BB, 0 SO. ‘Gas-can’ CAMMONS fuels the HALE bon-fire!
LHRP CHRIS JONES [2.91 ERA] 2.0 IP, pristine, 3 SO. Nice snuffer!
LHRP RYAN BUCHTER [1.54 ERA] 1.2 IP, 1 H, zeros, 1 SO.
RHRP CORY RASMUS [3.32 ERA] 1.1 IP, 2 H, 1 R/ER.
R-BRAVES lose to LEXINGTON 1-4.
RHSP NAVARY MOORE [L 3-2, 3.25 BA] 6.0 IP, 6 H, 2 R/ER, 0 BB, 6 SO. Danged shame to lose. MOORE pitched very well.
RHRP WILSON RIVERA [4.08 ERA] 2.0 IP, 4 H, 2 R/ER, 1 BB, 0 SO. Relief pitching not so much.
Lead-off CF TONY MUELLER [.231 BA] 1-5, 2 SO.
1B ‘Billy BECK’ BECKWITH [.327 BA] 3-3, 1 R, 1 2B , 1 SO, 1 SB , 1 CS , 1 Picked Off [1st base]. He’s reallty seeing soft-balls at the plate right now, but having a rough go once he’s on base.
BRANDON DRURY [.173 BA] 1-4, 1 2B , 1 RBI , 1 SO.
C RYAN QUERY [.195 BA] 1-4, 1 SO.
TOBF – easier to just put the 4 year old on her…he will quickly provide the appropriate influence
June 1st, 201211:20 pm
when its sleepy time down south…
June 1st, 201211:23 pm
It is roam and eat in the Big Apple.
June 1st, 201211:25 pm
Braves were too afraid to even play the Nats tonight after last weekend?
NYTOL! time for us creakin’ JIMMY CLANTON fans to nod off!
June 1st, 201211:26 pm
Good night tiger. I’ll be heading off soon as well. Good night bloggers.
Jeffrey D, are you still around?
June 1st, 201211:27 pm
Goodnight richbrave and tiger.
June 1st, 201211:30 pm
The storms have passed. We can start the game now!
June 1st, 201211:36 pm
According to Jeff Schultz’s just-posted column on Jair, he was actually extremely sick today, but decided not to tell anyone on the Gwinnett coaching staff because he was afraid it would be held against him if he missed the start.
Guess that kinda backfired on him. I doubt it would have been held against him as much as what his line, in the event, turned out to be.
Everyone seems to think his problem is mainly confidence at this point. Hard to say he’s wrong when he says he thinks the Braves have just decided they don’t want him, though. Wonder why?
June 1st, 201211:40 pm
After Jjs comments today about not feeling wanted and not happy about Medlen getting stretched out the Braves might as well just release him. Do both parties a favor.
June 1st, 201211:41 pm
I feel sorry for Jair, he has had some bad breaks, but he makes bad decisions and acts like he doesn’t have a clue sometimes.
Just saw Melky foul a ball off of his balls.
June 1st, 201211:43 pm
unbelievable: he still has value as a major league pitcher…they are not going to “just release him”, I hope.
June 1st, 201211:45 pm
I don’t think they’ll release JJ just yet. A couple unforeseen injuries to the rotation (God forbid), and JJ will be back up as a fill in starter before they promote Teheran, I’d wager.
June 1st, 201211:46 pm
He has no value.. He will be nontendered at the end of the year. People arent knocking at the door for a guy with a 6ERA in AAA.
We talk baseball, other sports, music, movies, BBQ and whatever (except politics or religion)
