As bad as he’s been lately, Venters could actually be the winning pitcher if this lead holds. This crazy game!

He did do that rick. But it was Constanza who beat out the infield single, Constanza who took second on a ball in the dirt IN FRONT of the plate, and Constanza who was speedy enough to score on that after holding at second to see if the ball was going to drop. Thanks for playing

Same old song and dance. Fred Flintstone leaves in a starter too long, and then he brings in the worst option available in bullpen. The homers on braves t.v. need to brag about how wonderful Hudson is with a 5 run lead again. LOL!! Hudson is done, his E.R.A. is going to be close to 5 after tonight. The guy looks like a batting practice pitcher. Another one of Wren’s pitiful moves. Signing an over the hill pitcher to 3 year contract after he was coming off of surgery. Now, he is coming off of surgery again, and he is done. Yet the braves are stuck with his big contract the remaining of this year. His E.R.A. will be worse than Lowe’s was last year. So that makes 3 over the hill guys(Hudson, Jones, and Lowe) that the braves are paying over 33 million in salary thanks to Wren and his boneheaded decisions.

We won yesterday because of Conztanza and today Conztanza’s speed started the rally. If we had Fransisco then none of this would have happend. I think when Chipper comes back then you have to either release Wilson or get rid of Fransisco. We need a SS so Fransisco’s days are probably over

“As bad as he’s been lately, Venters could actually be the winning pitcher if this lead holds. This crazy game!”

I never liked the idea of a relief pitcher who blows a lead getting a win.

But Hudson really does not deserve to win the way he let it get away. Just hope they hold on–until they get to Kimbrell will be antsy.

Fact….if we win tonight, we are 2-0 so far this season with Constanza, along with what he did for us last summer. Pretty sure its no coincidence

cabravesfan

May 30th, 2012
9:05 pm

Releasing Francisco will not provide Constanza any more playing time because Marteen would be in left, with Chipper at 3rd. Constanza would maybe get 1 game a week with an extra one here and there to give Bourn or Jason a break. Mostly, he’d be on the bench…no place to play him

I didn’t think so.

JNick

@NCBravesFan – Oswalt won 20 games a few times in that span – not really saying much since the NL is full of young starting pitching now, and very few pitchers have been in the NL since 2005….
Says something about Hudson though, having missed an entire season, plus some, and still at #4 on the list.

I remember last night one of the “rocket scientist”contributors here saying he had to go to gameday to see that Venters only allowed one run because reading entries here he thought Venters was giving up 7! His take was that people were over reacting to Venters performance.

Time some of you idiots get this: A bullpen pitcher in Venters role is to come in and allow ZERO runs, not “no big deal, it’s only a couple.” Tonight is another good example. He comes in to get one out and preserve the lead and he promptly gives up a hit and the tying run scores.

Venters has been a heck of a pen arm for a couple of years now, but due to overwork or head problems, he is currently no more than a mop up arm. Maybe he will get it back. Maybe he won’t. Perhaps “everyday Jonny” took it’s toll. But until he gets it back (if he gets it back) he should not be relied upon in a game where the Braves lead or are close.
