Hanson should reach 100 pitches by the second inning at this rate.

Heyward has that tall lanky body. When he looks bad, he looks like Dale Murphy. At the end of Murph’s career. The .226 Murphy.

Okay Braves apoolgists, if your savior Heyward is still batting .235 with less than 12 homers and 45 RBI’s at the break, will you now admit this guy is the bust that he is?

That really sucks for Freeman. This is not just dry eye but chronic dry eye. I have it and sometimes it never goes away. I have plugs, do drops and wear glasses. It comes from wearing contacts too much (which is what I did and sounds like Freeman has also). I even went to see Macs doctor in Atlanta but no luck. I’m now a nerd for life in glasses. Good thing it’s in style right now.

*******
i wore contacts for a week and have worn glasses for 21 years now. I hated contacts and quickly realized/thought that the things could be bad for my eyes. In retrospect, glad I ditched em. And no way I’m having Lasik and the risk it entails. Not interested in being part of the small percentage for whom it ends up being a disaster.

I’ll just live with being dashingly handsome in my rimless spectacles!

“Braves facing another apparent contender for Cy Young award. How can that happen nearly every day?”

Because we elevate the 3-4-5 starters into honorary Cy contenders.

Heyward has a “hitch” in his swing – he will never be the player we want him to be until this is fixed.

At least Francisco is not afraid to “cut the bat lose”!

David the Shepherd

May 28th, 2012
1:57 pm

We have got to get a manager who is more hard-nosed and DEMANDS that his players are more disciplined. Overweight, outta shape, undisciplined swings…UNACCEPTABLE. Fredi will have a much more successful career as a 3rd base coach for someone else’s club. Fredi gotsta go.

Heyward still swinging for the fences on 2-strike pitches, trying to pull everything.

No adjustment by Francisco on inside pitches. Scouting report suggests that pitching inside will get him out.

njbraves

May 28th, 2012

Heyward has been awful for over a year now, but you can’t be a “bust” at 23 years old.

ChattTownBrian (CTB)

May 28th, 2012
1:57 pm

Francisco looks like he’s so disgusted, like somebody drug him out on the field.

[...] In the first two months of the season, we have been treated to break out offense and sporadic pitching, the opposite of the 2011 Braves. Unfortunately, the last 7 games have looked a lot like the 2011 Braves and it can all be blamed on injuries, inconsistent pitching and a few untimely slumps. [...]

count_schemula

“At least Francisco is not afraid to “cut the bat lose”!”

And he usually fouls a few off.

As long as he sees 6 pitches like he did in that at bat… he’s gonna get his.

He’s a swinger, no doubt, but he’s better than pure flailing, I see him working with stuff inside, outside and off balance. I hope he gets to play most of Chipper’s DL stint.

Murphy just fell off too hard at 32, his .226 year.

Career .265 average dragged down hard by what he did in his 30’s.

Just a tough body type for prolonged excellence in baseball.

Winfield could.

sadly Jason Heyward will never be anything more then an average player at best. Likely he will be a below average player. He’s no better this year then last when he and the Braves blamed it all on injuries. I think it’s high time to trade, release or send him down.

Mike Minor and Heyward to the cubs for Dempster, and maybe they throw in Soriano

Today, our excuse is not the short fences of Cincinnati. Nor is it the snaky Turner Field outfield grass. No, today our excuse is the oppressive summer-like heat which is wearing down our pitcher and catcher.

Somehow, the Cards pitcher and catcher are immune to the desert-like conditions. At least we have an excuse, so all’s good.
