Call me superstitious but with the written and broadcast media raving so much about Beachy today… I anticipated this outing. It’s like jinxing a pitcher throwing a no-no.

As for the teams as a whole, when the Braves staff throws a mistake, the Reds lineup hits it out of the park. When the Cincy staff throws a mistake, Braves hitters pop it up or hit it to the warning track.

When you get some support in this ballpark it’s a bit easier to pitch. The Cincy lineup is coming to the plate with the lead, digging in, and teeing off! I’m not one who likes the idea of throwing at hitters but the Braves are going to have to get the Reds off the plate or they will be killing the pitches for another 2 and a half games! Can you say brush back, chin music?

Bad enuff to have to watch them lose a game without having to come here and read all the ignorant hating remarks that are so far from reality as to be ludicrous

There you go Beachy!!!! Nice 1,2,3 innings. Come on offense pick it up for Beachy like he’s done for you plenty of times in his young career…With as many HR’s as the Reds are hitting we’re bound to hit a few out tonight too!!!!

When you give up 7 home runs in less than a game and a half all on fastballs, it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out that you may need to throw your off speed pitches more than just once to each individual hitter.

Beachy has built some equity that Minor does not have. Beachy hasn’t been his best tonight but Minor has stunk it up for many starts in a row!

brian

always taking the first pitch is not a good plan – pitchers groove one if you always take.

That being said, take the first pitch a lot, but keep the pitcher honest by occasionally taking a swing. Go up there only swinging on the first pitch on occasion only if it is the pitch you want in the location you want it. Taking a rip here or there will keep one from always being down in the count 0-1

cabravesfan

May 22nd, 2012
8:43 pm

The Polo Grounds may have been 260 down the right field line, but it was 449 to Right Center, 483 (not a typo) to dead center, 450 to left center, and a short 279 down the left field line. So if you didn’t hit it right down the line, you were not getting a home run there…

it is hard to hold homeruns against a pitcher in this park, but it makes it more inexcusable about the Braves lack of production the last 2 games.

We need one more bat in this lineup, especially when Chipper is not in the lineup. Francisco and Diaz are not that bat that we need

There ya go J-Hey… I can’t be too mad because he had a nice double but he’s had ONE yes ONE multi hit game since April 20th. It’s pathetic I mean he’s barely averaging .200 over the last month plus it’s a joke. He has no excuse this year. He’s drawing less walks and striking out more than his rookie year his K’s are up even from his terrible 2011 season and his walks are only the same as his terrible 2011 season. He’s hitting for about the same power as his pathetic season last year….

I’m really starting to worry that this is the real J-Hey not the kid that got on base at a .380 clip his rookie year. It’s a shame because he hasn’t lived up to the hype. He hasn’t even been anywhere near it since his rookie year….
