I think the Reds may have signed Oswalt and disguised him as a Mike Leake look-a-like

That might have been their last chance given that the Reds’ bullpen is incredible.

Jurrjens has thrown 82 pitches in 4 innings, given up 5 runs including a 3 run homer to the 18-25 Rochester Red wings. I wonder when they are going to send him to Mississippi because he is now dragging down the G Braves.

Hate to say it but JJ is not the answer. Hey, Todd Redmond might be the best option in the org, face it, we are not signing Oswalt and for what the Braves will spend, Redmond is probably as good as anyone out there that they could sign.

Teheran, not sure he is ready. Hope he does not get messed up like Minor.

ncbravesfan, would it make any difference on the line if Fredi said JJ pitched terrible? I don’t know why so many people here get on Fredi for not publicly condemning a player’s performance. Good managers just don’t do that.

Minor is not getting “lit up”. He’s not consistent with his ability to hit corners and keep it down. When he does that, he’s fine. Weak HRs mean batting practice pitches. You’ll notice that Minor is missing McCann’s setup again and again. This is just a plain control problem. He’s not getting lit up. He’s a damn kid. I would have him in AAA just to learn. He doesn’t belong in the rotation until he solves his control problem.

Excuse me..he wasn’t lit up if that makes it better. How about he was hammered in that particular inning, is that better? When you have a control problem like you said and you are not hitting corners like you said, that’s what happens, you get hammered. Yea, I agree, he’s a kid..so is Beachy. I think he needs more mental help to regain his confidence than anything else so he can be consistent and hit corners.

“Announcers comparing Minor to Glavine at the start of his career. I’ll tell you one thing Glavine didn’t do. He didn’t give up like Minor has appeared to do.”

And that is what I have been talking about enjoying the ESPN feed. They provide objective observations about the Braves and the Reds. I’m glad I missed the Glavine/Minor comparisons as Chip and Joe watch pitch after pitch fly over the wall! That’s the kind of stuff that can make a calm person want to throw a hard object at the TV.

Again, I can accept a bad performance. I don’t like it, but I’m not going to go nuts about it. I DO HATE to watch a bad performance backed up by excuses from the home announcers!

kevkat (May 21st, 2012 8:49 pm): “They are swinging like they don’t give a damn. I guess watching your pitcher get lit up is demoralizing.”

4 runs in 6 innings ain’t exactly “getting lit up”, especially not at this park. Heck, it’s only 1 run over a quality start in ANY ballpark.

How demoralizing for Minor do you think it must be, to be given only 1 run to work with, in this ballpark and against this pitcher (Leake)?

Sutcliffe was complimentary about Minor just then….comparing him to Greg Maddux, BUT talked some sense in saying Minor needs to go back to the minors and find himself. In ATL, they expect Minor to find his way with OJT against big league hitting. Don’t think I agree with that.
