“Patience? We were sold a pitching staff full of “big arms” by Braves management and Mark Bradley.

Patience isn’t supposed to be necessary with “big arms”. Big arms are supposed to be getting the job done. Not serving up gopher balls on 1-2 counts.”

I didn’t realize Mark Bradley worked for the Braves.

Are you actually watching the game? It really wasn’t a bad pitch. Had the middle of the plate but was down and at the target.

I’ve had to listen to plenty of truly awful announcers over the last few years. Chip is far from awful

“I actually find it refreshing to hear what seems like a pretty objective call instead of the homer call

That may be, but I’ve heard some dumb, uniformed, sheeple bs”

Yeah that’s what I said…. it’s good to get away from the “dumb, uniformed, sheeple bs” the Braves broadcasters sometimes spit out. Actually I take that back. The Braves announcers are informed about the Braves. It’s ok not to slam your home team, they pay the bills. I understand that. I just don’t want to hear excuses when they are doing dumb stuff. Either critique the play or just say nothing negative. But don’t make excuses or “tip your cap.”

I don’t read Mark Bradley, so I have no idea what he sold you…nor does his opinion necessarily reflect the Braves ideas. But- Patience is ALWAYS necessary with young players (not just pitchers). I suppose the Nats should give up on Bryce Harper now since he is 11 for his last 52 (.214 average) with a .281 OBP?

Speaking of announcers I was listening to Vin Scully the other night and I swear I thought I had tuned into a golfing match for a minute or two. All monotone and no excitement at all in his voice. Sad thing is a lot of people think he is great!

Another good example of the ESPN announcers. They are observing that Freeman swings at more first pitches than any other player in baseball so there is no reason to throw him a decent pitch on the first pitch. He will chase bad pitches. Sure enough, he has swung at two first pitches that weren’t strikes his first two times up.

Does the Braves coaching staff not know this? Can they not convice Freeman that if he takes a few first pitches then the opposition might actually stop throwing him waste pitches (which he swings at) in each of his abs? Result? Freeman gets ahead a few times in the count instead of constantly being behind in the count. Results might actually make him a better hitter than he already is.

Once again the Braves are letting a “lousy, no-name” pitcher turn the lights out on them. This guy has done nothing this year. He is 0-5 with about a 6.0 ERA and 0-3 at home with about an 8.0 ERA . Is this a mental thing with the Braves or what? The Braves have one friggin hit so far! Well at least they are consistent.

Could you imagine Maddux and Glavine coming up now and struggling as they did and the overreactions boards like this would get? I think it would be even worse than what we see for Delgado and Minor since Maddux and Glavine topped out at 90-91 and didn’t have nearly the pure “stuff” that Delgado, Minor and Teheran have. What’s worse, a lefty that can strike out one an inning as rookie and tops out at 92-94mph, or a control pitcher that barely strikes anyone out that walked more than he struck out as a rookie? Furthering the comparison to the big three, Beachy is most similar to Smoltz. Can be a strikeout pitcher, and will have arm troubles.

I love how even after it’s spelled out by DOB, there’s still some of you saying they need to be sent down, can’t be patient anymore, Minor is hopeless, etc… Did you guys read the article? Ten games over .500 and in first in possibly the toughest division in baseball and yet somehow we can’t afford to have these guys develop and get on-the-job training. Seems like it’s working just fine so far.

And by the way, nice job by Minor getting out of the big jam, you know, the type of jam he’s being slammed for not being able to work out of.

No pitcher in MLB history thrown more dumb pitchers and those last 2 pitches were no where near where Brian wanted them

Minor needs to be DFA’ed immediately if not sooner. If he is a prized pospect, the prize is a booby trap. What a waste of a high round pick, they missed on that BUMB.
