I sort of hope that Minor gets nicked up for 4 R in the first so they can take him out and they have a chance to come back.

No one wants Minor. Derek was not that bad in 2009 and 10. No WC without Derek in 2010.

Ok I love the Braves! I fully believe in supporting a player when they’re not doing to well. But seriously? JJ got sent down for less than what Minor has done. Why not call up Teahran (hope thats right) and send Minor down?

DJ, Jurrjens had been pitching bad since last year’s AS break and had a poor spring training. Minor was the Braves’ best starter in ST and had a great three start stretch before getting in this poor four start stretch. He’s not that far removed from success.

interesting matchup. Leake is one of the guys who were thought to have higher upsife than Minor and was taken one pick later. so far both have struggled but Leake does have a better ERA

Dan Uggla is proving to be as big a choker as last year, with any runners on base. Bring that loser to the plate early in the game, and he’s an automatic strike out. It’s like he has no clue at the plate. Once again, he’s proving to be a waste of a huge amount of money.

Patience is one thing, a 7+era through 6 or 7 starts is another. Let’s face it, had he not had a good spring, he would be in Gwinnett right now. We’re in a division which is probably the best in baseball and we can’t afford to give away many games before the first pitch is even thrown.

Charlie, you should take a look at Uggla’s #s with any combination of runners on this season, they are kind of interesting. Doing well with RISP and bases loaded, but not so well with runners on or RISP and 2 out.

The spot was his to lose, so he wouldn’t have been in Gwinnett unless Delgado or Teheran outperformed him. And he also had a great stretch of three starts before this bad run of four starts.

Another great article, DOB. Listening to Fredi’s “explanation” for his “support” for the struggling young pitchers this season, I have but one question: Where was all this “support” for Cory Gearrrin this spring? The kid didn’t give up a run until the last two spring training games, and that was still a whole lot less that what Delgado gave up. Yet, Fredi and the staff didn’t think twice about sending him on the first train back to Gwinnett for someone who gave up more runs in one game than Cory has given up all season. I find this “explanation” just a little inconsistent. I guess it all comes down to is who you believe in and who you don’t. Tell me what’s consistent and supportive about that.

I usually have to listen to Chip and Joe, but for some reason the ESPN feed is sneaking through tonight. Now before some of the mega-fans start claiming that the ESPN guys hate the Braves because they are calling a spade a spade……I actually find it refreshing to hear what seems like a pretty objective call instead of the homer call. I’m ok with the home feed that I watch most of the time, but I tire of the excuses that they spit out sometimes.

I remember when the Braves could boast that they had the best group of announcers in the business. Sadly, I think those days are gone. On the radio, Jim Powell is ok, but Don Sutton should NOT be allowed to call play-by-play, and Ben Ingram’s voice is like fingernails on a chalk board to me. On the TV side, Joe Simpson is the only link to broadcasting days gone by, but he’s only average, and Chip is a joke. I think Tom Glavine and Dale Murphy are both better than Chip ever thought of being.
There will never be another group like Pete, Skip, and Ernie. I miss ‘em.

The announcers of today just do not have the personality and imagination of the announcers of a generation or two ago.
Its so cookie cutter and that goes for the National guys too.
The best announcer we ever had in this town was the great Dan Kamal. Hope he hooks up somewhere with an NHL team.

We’re gonna have to start calling DOB “Stat Man” as he is full of them. What I really love are some of these stats that are just totally irrelevant and at random. Like the one the other day that said “the Braves are so and so since April 10th” (of course it was a winning record) and I was curious as to why they selected the random date of 4/10. I had to say “well, Duh” when I saw that it was the day after the first four games of the year, ALL LOSSES! Stats are like polls, they can be manipulated and slanted!
