Good (non) move Lew.
Can’t stand the heat down here in Ga. and can’t wait to move north!
alright, time to make the long drive home.
Tucson actually has much better weather than Phoenix- not nearly as hot in the summer
May 17th, 20126:36 pm
neither, so far this season
May 17th, 20126:37 pm
I live and die by the Barves!
sorry Murph – couldn’t resist.
DRy heat or no- I’ll pass on that move. No desire to be a DBack’s fan. Of course, I ‘ve had no desire to become a Red Sox fan, either the past eleven years up here..

For the record Omar Infante is getting $ 4,000,000 this year which would have left $8,000,000 free to put toward a real LF / big bat. It’s all business people and Wren sucks at spending money.
i just perused the headline didnt read the story cab
i know i cant watch them here on mlb 4 hrs away
May 17th, 20126:40 pm
If we had Infante, we’d have a .300 hitting second baseman and still need a power hitting LFer. As it stands, we have a power hitting second baseman and a .300 hitting LFer.
For those wanting to defend Uggla, check out Infante’s numbers.
Better than Uggla for less money. Admit it, Wren messed up.
May 17th, 20126:41 pm
pretty hard to find two more different climates Lew
Another reason it helps to follow a team in a different “region”
Well, someone’s messed up, but it isn’t Wren.
May 17th, 20126:42 pm
nolie – Really.
BTW thats why God created air conditioning….
May 17th, 20126:43 pm
Lew – you miss my point.
1. Uggla is not putting up numbers to match the salary.
2. Money left over from Omar would’ve freed up $9,000,000.
We are spending more $$ for what we already had for less. The good ol’ boy system at work.
what’s air conditioning?
If we had Infante, we’d have a .300 hitting second baseman and still need a power hitting LFer. As it stands, we have a power hitting second baseman and a .300 hitting LFer…Lew
what he said
May 17th, 20126:44 pm
Uggl’s numbers this year match the salary just fine, even better than Pujols do…
May 17th, 20126:46 pm
so, i think it is an opinion that Uggla’s numbers do not match his salary. Not necessarily my opinion. Uggla is having a pretty darn good season. He is tied for the MLB-lead in Runs Created among all players at his position.
May 17th, 20126:48 pm
y’know I’ve posted several times, kidding about it, but I still caint believe that Rhymes fainted from getting hit on the elbow after he got to first. what would Ty Cobb say?
3rd Place and I really tried to win it its just some people have even more time on their hands than even I do
May 17th, 20126:49 pm
Just … BALLGAME!
I knew nolie was not going to agree with me. But whatever. You guys like Uggla (so do i) but still don’t think dude is putting up $62 million stats. Wasted money.
boy, come blueberry waffles sure would be good right about now.
May 17th, 20126:50 pm
Ty Cobb would say he hates “Jews, N*ggers, Women, and then take his gun out and call you a son of a B*tch”. But other than that he was a good guy. He kept it real……sometimes too real.

The Braves pitched two seasons back to back without a lefty starter, and now they’re going to leave an ineffective lefty in the rotation just to say they have a lefty starter?
Stop it!!!! What’s the true reason?
Put the best 5 starters in the rotation, and find bullpen guys whereever they keep getting the likes of Durbin, Sherrill, Linebrink, etc.
You mean to tell me they can’t find one of those guys available to move Medlen to the rotation?
Why do they want so very bad not to have Medlen in the rotation? What gives?
Move Minor to the pen, and Medlen to the rotation…Fredi did say that Minor pitched a very goo 3+ innings. That’ll get the job done every 3 days.
so he’d be ok with a player fainting ?
May 17th, 20126:54 pm
I can watch the game tonight FREDI is not giveing the game away before it starts. the only scrub in lineup is PASTORNICKY.
May 17th, 20126:55 pm
Lew – Wild America has got a great hook.
May 17th, 20126:58 pm
What Minor did is in my past
Joe in SoCal
Hey George…The Rev looks like a real ball player on mlb gameday.
May 17th, 20126:59 pm
What to do about MINOR? Trade him and FREDI G to CIN for DUSTY BAKER., then we would have a MGR with some life in him, not a doofuss who sits on bench stareing off in space.
Ugglas numbers this year match the salary just fine, even better than Pujols do…
Pujols is making about 3.63 times league average this year. 7.57 times if you average it at $25m
May 17th, 20127:00 pm
Nolasco is ready to slice and dice. McCann will be eaten for breakfast for once instead of eating everybody else.
May 17th, 20127:01 pm
Bat..or about a 100 times what most people will make in their lifetime.
I still caint believe that Rhymes fainted from getting hit on the elbow after he got to first.
I hope they picked the sissy off.
May 17th, 20127:03 pm
Wren over paid KK, and then pitched him in AA the last year of contract, paid 10 mil to Cleveland to let D-Lowe pitch ther, and now is paying 5+ mil for JJ to stink @ AAA.
You can not make than many mistakes for that kind of money when your budget is 85 – 90 mil.
At that rate, and frequency, he’s throwing away 15% of the budget, with nothing to show for it.
May 17th, 20127:04 pm
LU ANN got hit on the elbow?
May 17th, 20127:05 pm
Ty Cobb would have spiked the 1st Baseman after getting hit by a pitch
Hugo Z Hackenbush
I doubt anyone here gives a rat’s ass about what Ty Cobb would say about anything…
Jay Dubu, true. Those are facts. I like what Wren has done for the team for the most part, but he’s made a few boo boo’s.
May 17th, 20127:06 pm
Outta here for game. Lets have a good one tonight y’all.
May 17th, 20127:07 pm
Joe in SoCal_
It’s a heap of damn money, no doubt, Joe. The funny thing is I’ve read a couple of articles claiming when you factor in cost of living and taxes the deal is no better than the one the Cards offered.
Highest paid baseball player of all time based on times league average: Ty Cobb @ age 40, 12.59
Ty Cobb is the greatest player Ever along with the Babe and the Hammer. But no way Cobb could play in todays age……..He was like John Rocker times a 1000…….Remember Cobb KILLED a man.
Two wrongs (Uggs & Pujols) don’t make a right!
Besides, the Angels’ TV contract dwarfs the Braves’ deal, so they have money to spend, while the Braves keep screaming proverty.
May 17th, 20127:08 pm
Bravo’s takin this one…fo’sho.
May 17th, 20127:10 pm
May 17th, 20127:11 pm
Heap..ain’t that what they used to call BMac? Thats what we need tonight is a Heap’n help’n of some Hoss!
McLouth played terrible baseball and we finally found out he had played two years with a sports hernia. I’ve never heard any legit excuse for flop JJ turned into. Knee injuries don’t cause you to lose your stuff and 5 mph off your fastball. I don’t know why they would hold back on releasing an injury that makes as much difference as it did with those two players.
“Bravo’s takin this one”
Hopefully not where the sun don’t shine.
May 17th, 20127:12 pm
Its time we find out if Julio Teheran can becaome an Ace or at least a starter
May 17th, 20127:13 pm
Braves’ payroll Frank Wren’s first year (2008) was $102 million. Dropped to $96 mil (2009), $84 mil (2010), $84 mil (2011), and $82 mil this year.
Meanwhile, team he inherited in ‘08 won 72 games; then 86, 91 and 89 wins, and hovering at 1st place this year.
20% cut in payroll, 25% increase in wins. Yeah, he’s a total failure.
LIKE this Thanks Chipper page!!!
Hello Everyone! Great night to be a Brave!!
Jay Dubu – You can post all the facts in the world on here and these guys will defend their idiocracy. I bet they sit there shaking their heads saying nope nope to make them believe they are correct. I hear you though brotha! Wren has messed up A LOT in my opinion. If the Braves were Vegas, Wren would have been kicked out with people looking for him way he blows money.
So far, Miami got the better end of FW’s deal that traded Infante for Uggla–no doubt.
FW is no JS when it comes to trades. I was trying to think of a FW deal that worked out really well—can’t think of one.
May 17th, 20127:15 pm
Infante isw pis**ng me off. Finally got him out.
I was trying to think of a FW deal that worked out really well—can’t think of one.
Yeah. That Michael Bourn trade was terrible
May 17th, 20127:16 pm
what facts? give me a freakin’ break
MikeInFl – It is May so don’t go jerkin’ Wren just yet for 2012. Remember last season? Oh and one before that? What were we missing? Say it with me…. HITTING. The money saved from Uggla would have us a nice bat in that lineup for less money.
May 17th, 20127:17 pm
@KeyLargo….Good points on JJ….I wondered too regarding undisclosed injury status and, let’s not forget….medical issues such as depression (clinical) and family issues which are distracting and taxing.
Lawton – See my earlier post. Stats don’t lie dude.
May 17th, 20127:18 pm
Oh! Wren had many offers coming in for JJ past two seasons and passed with all the young arms we have. How did that work out? Ask the Mets triple A team about that one.
May 17th, 20127:19 pm
nice work Beach! Now lets draw some blood!
Infante is the more versatile, better defender than Uggla. Puts up better at bats and he’s actually got more homers than Uggla this year so far. Yep, MIA got the better end of the stick so far on that deal.
May 17th, 20127:20 pm
Lawton – About page 4 on this blog. Just showing Infante numbers to Uggla for money they both make. Same numbers but Uggla makes $9,000,000 more each year. Wasted money to me.
Wren passed on trading JJ because, until late last year, he was one of our best starters
May 17th, 20127:21 pm
Waffle House or Bust
May 17th, 2012
name one offer Wren passed on for JJ. Facts please……..
Jay Dubu – You can post all the facts in the world on here and these guys will defend their idiocracy…WHOB
no FACTS are being posted just opinions, and pretty damn dumb opnes at that
Way to start it off Bourn. Missed him last night.
s’what i’m talkin’ bout…c’mon now!
May 17th, 20127:22 pm
Pay Bourn already
So far, Miami got the better end of FW’s deal that traded Infante for Uggla–no doubt…Sk
another unbelievable utterance. too bad folks don’t have to take an IQ test to post here…..
May 17th, 20127:23 pm
Aaaannndddddd we’re off!
I guess–that there is a little get back from the great catch on Heyward last night
Beachy gets em out…sigh.
That’s for the haters.
We’re gonna look at 6 weeks of this season and make that judgement between Uggla and Infante. How about we look at last season? What you do is called cherry-picking the facts that fit your opinion.
May 17th, 20127:24 pm
Prado is back to being Prado of 2010 he is going opposite way and getting hits anywhere……..He is a 200 hit a year guy when he takes this approach
nine-game hitting streak for Marteeen. Or are y’all calling him that anymore?
May 17th, 20127:25 pm
Freddie refuses to take a walk
‘Teen!!!! sweeet! alright…flyball minimum
You mean that’s not the way he actually spells his name?
May 17th, 20127:26 pm
Why did he do that?
Chip talking about Freddie’s scratched corneas, as in plural. Way to go Chip!
Has anyone ever seen Waffle House and Veer on at the same time?
What is Prado’s deal?
Run! Same as last night. Just stand there. Good grief.
c’mon FF..flyball minimum right there..gotta have it bud.
Hey y’all UGGLA did have two hits last night.
May 17th, 20127:27 pm
While I was delighted last year that we got Bourn–his time with the Braves last year wasn’t great. Yes, so far this season he has been superb, but we need more than 25% of 2012 to evaluate the trade.
That’s because Freddie had scratches on both corneas.
Ugh Uggly! Terrible
We talk baseball, other sports, music, movies, BBQ and whatever (except politics or religion)
