Fredi makes some good points – avoiding the big inning has been Minor’s big challenge. During his good run, he did a great job at pitching out of jams and seemed to be over it.
I still think Minor needs to change his approach to hitters the second and third time through the lineup. He has been relatively strong through the first time but then struggles the second and third time through the order.
The Braves know Minor’s psyche better than us. My guess it that Minor would take it really hard getting sent down and may be more counterproductive than helpful which is another reason the Braves will be patient with him here. I wonder if the Braves will get Glavine to talk to Minor. Talking to a starting pitcher about his approach through lineups and getting reassurance from a Hall of Fame lefty who had a rough year or two to start his career would be very helpful

There’s only one way to find out… send him down!
If he freaks out and turns into a big pout-pout fish, full of dreary wearies, then he’s too fragile to get the ball every 5 days for the big league club anyways.
Could be a good test for the kid if he’s actually in the Braves’ future plans.

I don’t think it is pouting like Frenchie Murph. There are always some players that can be ridden hard by a manager and Minor probably is not one. I think he would take it personally and hang his head. If the Braves can turn him around soon and keep him in the lineup it will pay off.

CTB – it is his given first name. I have no problem with Stanton wanting to go by that (though I don’t think he will ever be confused with the first MIke Stanton). He has always signed his autographs Giancarlo Stanton, or at least has since I met him in low A. I can’t remember which Marlin said it but they were right when they said that they will call him whatever Stanton wants if he keeps hitting like he is doing

Don..seems the thought process on that one is thus:
1) Give Minor time to work thru his troubles/Meds is too valuable in present spot.
2) Stretch out Meds in the minors then bring up to take Minor’s spot/Who takes Meds place while that occurs?
3) What will happen to Minor if he’s demoted from SP to reliever?/Or can we send him down to work on it and who will be brought up?

Just wondering, but is there such a thing as a performance contingency clause in baseball deals? I mean could the Braves have done their deal with the Indians for Lowe that, based on performance…number innings, wins, ERA, etc…say by the All-Star break, they, Cleveland, would have to take more of his remaining contract or give him back? Right now we could use him and/or the money.

Dirty, I don’t believe that I have ever seen a performance clause other than something related to playing time (innings pitches, plate appearances). I think MLB and even the MLBPA frowns on going to any other type of performance clause.

I think it depends on the team and local TV deals (and i don’t know what the rules are, since they are not an issue for me), but, like, if the Rockies have a regional deal, I can see where it would be in their interest to not allow their games to be broadcast on non local channels through Extra Innings or other sources (does that make sense?)
