Oswalt’s not getting only 2 mil unless he’s signed in late August
Agreed. BUT anything can happen. its going to be June in 2weeks. He’ll get an itch and want to go to a contender. Atlanta is close to home. Slight chance 3M for half a season
Nice lineup tonight, is tonight the night Brandon Beachy’s ERA blows up? Hope not. As long as the Braves can score enough runs to win, I’ll be good. Must win game! (I know people love that term so there you go!)
yeah Ease, I thought you were around somewhere. go try out immediately

@Jo Nicca Crazy was being sarcastic, something you don’t understand, you should know how to recommend stupid ideas
And what stupid ideas is that? Saying atlanta should sign oswalt. yeah thats stupid or wait suggesting 2-3M be a great deal on oswalt. yeah thats stupid too. You people are hilarious!!!! Who cares if hes turned down more money from someone else. OBVIOUSLY he didnt wanna play there!!
Speaking of ATL, Frediot apparently wants to keep his two best OBP guys (Chipper and Heyward) hitting 6th and 7th regularly. Between that and regularly pitching Durbin in close games, is it safe to assume that Fredi is actually a negative WAR manager?
TOBFan – It was just George talking out of his azz with Fredihate, who said he would like Dusty. Yau just have to consider the source. As I said, that statement says it all about George and his baseball
(un)knowledge.
I think we should ask Derrick Lowe to pay part of the Oswalt salary…seeing how he did not earn hardly any of his last year, and now we are still paying him, to pitch good for the only team we ever beat for a ring…can you believe it. Ain’t that just like an ex Brave.
Geez louise, Minor has got to pick it up, if we’re gonna start getting some of that Oswalt/Garcia/Redmond/Livan action, LOL. Come on, kid, help me out a little here.

An odd definition of “regularly”, I guess. This guy should try to keep up.
He does do it more often than I’d like, but I wouldn’t necessarily call it “regularly” either. What bothers me more is that it seems he has O’Flaherty and Venters in a box that says “Do not open before 7th”, even if there’s a really important situation in the 5th or 6th inning (men on base, tied or up 1 run). He has used Durbin in a lot of those situations when a better reliever would have been more appropriate, although the moves have worked out for the most part.

Telling you?
Hockey is stupid.
He has used Durbin in a lot of those situations when a better reliever would have been more appropriate
Maybe so, RC, though my perception is that he goes to Medlen more than Durbin in the higher-leverage stuff. I get the sense that the higher the leverage, the shorter the stint for Durbin, if he gets called on in that situation at all.
I’m not saying that Fredo isn’t capable of making me a liar, by the way.
Before I start, just let me reiterate that I am not now or have at any time been a supporter of either Wren or Fredi. But, some of you guys are going way overboard in blaming either for things that were not done or not being done. As I recall, there weren’t very many of us chomping at the bit to trade Prado and Jurrjens to get Adam Jones because most of us thought that was too steep a price for Jones. Now with Jurrjens having his issues, people are all over Wren for not making that trade. It comes down to not being able to satisfy some people no matter what.
As for Minor, we have all seen him really dominate until all of a sudden the wheels come off. He seems to have his best times the first time around the order. Sounds like he could really flourish in the bullpen, but I’m not gonna worry about it one way or another. Fredi said he is gonna continue to run him out there, so I’m gonna hope he turns that corner and starts doing well. Fredi did the same thing with Delgado and look at him now. I think Minor tends to give up when things don’t go well. That is what his facial expression is telling me. I wanna see him bear down when things go south.
RC – Agreed. He said he would use Durbin in a 2-run game, but not a 1-run game the other day, and then he started using Durbin in tied games. I almost went (more) crazy.
I guess if he is in the bullpen you have to use him, but I’d rather it not be in a close game. One thing I will give the Braves credit for this year is that they have blown teams out. I mean how many blow outs did we have last year? It didn’t seem like very many. Amazing what scoring runs can do to the back of your bullpen.

True that. Kimbrel getting alot more rest. O’ not doing to well early on which raises my thoughts of using medlen for that role. Vent doing ok so far. Guess i cant expect the same #’s as last year
I happen to think, really, that this is the best looking team (from a lady’s point of view) that we’ve fielded in years. Beachy, Eric O, Uggla, Mac, Rev, and while I am obviously not his biggest fan, Chad Durbin is kinda cute. And oh, Chipper looked gooood in that Stetson he got from Houston
And let me say this about this team. I think I have misjudged this team. Originally, I said 84 wins was the most the Braves could be expected to get in 2012. Don’t know what has changed with me, but I’m having a much better time watching these guys than I thought I would. Bourn, Prado, and Freeman are doing well. McCann is starting to come around and Uggla is about ready to take off. Heyward is not grounding out to second as much as he used to, so I have hopes for him. I have grown to like him very much in right field. I wish Chipper would play a little more, but it is what it is. As for the pitching staff, it’ll come around. Hell, I think most of it already is. The bullpen has had some bad moments, but that’ll be our strength again real soon.

Monty – you are second. I’ve already called ballgame for the Braves.
As I stated on the other blog, for whatever reason, the Braves are 5-8 in series openers and 18-7 in the other games.
For that reason, and some good ole Fish Bisch ownage, I call for a win tonight.

Hi cab. We were debating Mac vs. Pastor and figured you had an opinion as well.

In Roy Oswalt’s last 15 games last year, he averaged less than 6 IP per game, 10 hits per 9 IP, opponents BA .290, ERA 4.25…

If Ted Williams was still alive, his bat would have a Gattis signature on it.

Maybe…but anybody playing baseball at 18-years-younger-than-me has gotta be friggin’ adorable!…

And I’m assuming the guy asking the question was a nimrod.

True that. Kimbrel getting alot more rest. O’ not doing to well early on which raises my thoughts of using medlen for that role. Vent doing ok so far. Guess i cant expect the same #’s as last year

Fredo? Was that a freudian slip? As in…”I can handle things! I’m smart! Not like everybody says… like dumb… I’m smart and I want respect!”

On the JJ bashers – ya’ll leave him alone. Those Bisons are tough. They’re Bisons and that has to mean they’re tough with a name like that.
And hey, it’s not like he’s the first Brave pitcher to get hammered by Mets minor leaguers.
