You wouldn’t have gotten an argument from me with “Freddie 2 Scoops”. Has a gangland ring to it. And anything is better than that Fab Five Freddie trash.
Doubt Beachy pitches the 9th.
Man..can y’all imagine if Freddie was a good defensive player?
pretty good for a fence post
May 17th, 20129:36 pm
somebody have tivo and can go back and tell me what that chart just said on TV about lowest ERAs through eight starts by Braves?
Freddi is average at first, at best…
As I said, I’m a fan of Adam LaRoche, but Freeman is one helluva bargain (and a better overall player) at this point…
May 17th, 20129:37 pm
could be KL
Beachy possibly going for a CG after this inning?
May 17th, 20129:38 pm
his picks have nothing to do with his lack of range. there are guys with as good a glove who aren’t fence posts
Betcha Beachy starts the ninth.
I hope Fredi lets him go for the CG Shutout.
May 17th, 20129:39 pm
give BB a shot
Might as well give Beachy the ball one more inning.
Maddux 1994 1.13
Glavine 2002 1.50
Jurjjens 2011 1.56
Maddux 1997 1.57
Lowest ERA through first 8 starts (since 1921)
Wow. I thought Beachy was gassed earlier. WRONG (as I usually am).
May 17th, 20129:40 pm
go for the shutout.
His season start is Madduxesque
Dunn only 6′ but 220, 3 inches shorter than Mac but just 10 pounds lighter. must be a real fatty
May 17th, 20129:41 pm
yeah, nolie, I am with you, he had a pretty quick inning, would like to see him go back out there.
May 17th, 20129:42 pm
the 1994 season will not be beat. Maddux in his prime was as good as any pitcher to play the game, not as flashy, but just as good as anybody
Braves need to bat around, and add 3 – 4 more runs to take the Marlins completely ou of this game. Then Beachy can cruise to that complete game shutout.
May 17th, 20129:43 pm
save the runs for the Rays
beachy going 9? I like it
May 17th, 20129:44 pm
nolie, that made me laugh.
getting your first two hitters on like Bourn/Prado have lately is a bit of a help
May 17th, 20129:46 pm
2-run homer makes some one Nostradamus
May 17th, 20129:47 pm
I knew DS1 didn’t know what he was talking about @ 9-0….
May 17th, 20129:48 pm
Lowest ERA through 1st 8 starts since 1921
94. Maddux 1.13
02. Glavine 1.50
11 JJ. 1.56
97. Maddux. 1.57
Beachy. 1.38 currently
May 17th, 20129:49 pm
What was Beachy taking there in the dugout? Looked like some kind of sealed pills.
I like it.
Give him a chance.
Beachy is a stud……He is becoming our ACE.
Beachy looks to keep to the Hanna Rule for the whole game tonight. First time this season.
May 17th, 20129:50 pm
that is the way to start the 9th!!
Now I’m ticked!
May 17th, 20129:51 pm
Boy is West parked far enough behind the batter
Can he do it? Can he? Can he?
c’mon kid, don’t tense up
May 17th, 20129:52 pm
Wife comes in and starts ranting as i was finishing the chart deal for Carroll….
Gotta love being interrupted.
Brandon deserves a standing “O.”
one more for the encore. COme on Beachy
nice stuff beachy… make it 9 retired in a row and a CG shutout…. nice not having to use the pen today.
come on blue – give Beachy that call
BB is SICK tonight!!!!! Great change up…… Go ahead and k the side
May 17th, 20129:53 pm
Last CG SHO was July 1st last season, by JJ
I guess the concerns about Beachey not going deep enough into games are getting erased the way things are going now.
I sure wish that the same could happen to Minor and though Tommy Hanson has not been bad, we want more than 5 innings in the next start. We need to see Tommy give us a good 7 on a reasonably consistent basis. Next time I want 6 good IP from Tommy, is that too much to ask.
A needed win and overall, not a bad week, split vs the Reds and now a split vs the hated Fish.
On a note in another sport, how bout them Pacers, nice feel good story. Good for them and the Pacer fans, always thought they got screwed thanks to Metta World Peace. That team had a shot to contend and now the Pacers are in a position to make a long playoff run.
My definition of a good playoff run is to make it to a confrence final.
Beachy struck that Marlin out with a 81 mph change after a 92 fastball. Impressive for the 9th.
Pastornicky closes it out. Awesome. Good job Beach.
Ballgame!!! I have really missed complete games the last few years!
Stanton could easily hit one 500 feet but a grounder to SS works just fine.
Way to go kid – complete game shutout!!!
TA DA !!!
May 17th, 20129:54 pm
How about that. Atta boy, Beachy!
Best Pitching performance by any Brave in 2 Seasons
As Bobby would say, way to go kid!
BARVES WIN! BARVES WIN!
Great start by Beachy. Good offensive night. Fillet the fish and send them on their way.
Life is beachy.
Absolutely amazing night for Beachy, and with that being said, I’ll say g’nite all.
become the ace Beachy.
This guy is becoming more and more impressive with each start. Really enjoy watching him pitch.
The Braves are great, they are not Bumbs anymore.
May 17th, 20129:55 pm
I think Huddy had a 1-hit shuotut last season, that was pretty good
Pirates DP in top 9 – 2 run lead into the bottom…
May 17th, 20129:56 pm
when you are up in Glavine and Maddux territory with your season start……………………
Give it up to Beachy
What negatives can we take from Beachy’s effort?
Another Clueless Blogger
Bravo Beachy, Bravo!
Mac was beaming
Beachy was peachy !!!
(okay, it’s corny)
No offense, but I don’t like when Beachy (or any of our “good” pitchers) and JJ appear in the same sentence… makes me cringe
May 17th, 20129:57 pm
Congratulations to Beachy! Hell of a performance.
phil, he gave up too many hits!
May 17th, 20129:58 pm
Jurrjens was a great pitcher…..He just got hurt and never was honest to say he was hurt and that messed up his mechanics IMO
May 17th, 20129:59 pm
Great Effort by the Beach Man tonight
On a side note, was looking at wikipedia today, how appropriate that Minor’s picture on his page is of him watching a homer sail out that he had given up. Gave me a nice little laugh. Everybody else has a normal picture and his is one of distress.
Great night for Beachy! And I got to see his interview.. that never happens. (mlb.tv feed)
Like it or not The only Braves fan, JJ was a good pitcher for us at times till he melted down early this yr.
What he has left, I don;t know. He won’t be tendered this off season so he will go somewhere else and try to make a comeback.
I hope he makes it back wherever it is.
Wow, Brandon Freaking Beachy. That is all.
phil – he only got one hit! Needs to work on the offense a little…
May 17th, 201210:00 pm
phil, May 17th, 2012, 9:56 pm … “What negatives can we take from Beachy’s effort?”
TheOnlyBravesFan, May 17th, 2012, 9:56 pm … “No offense, but I don’t like when Beachy (or any of our “good” pitchers) and JJ appear in the same sentence… makes me cringe”
We have a winnah!
Disgusted: So when the Braves lose they’re bumbs, when they win, you love ‘em…. guess they’ll be bumbs another 50 nights or so…. dang
May 17th, 201210:02 pm
Those are good negatives!
Way to pitch, young man! Outstanding job!
Good night folks.
Beachy Leads the Majors in ERA and is 3rd in the NL in innings pitched with 54 IP
Nah, dey are not really bumbs, and if they lose 60 games I will take dat TOBF.
God help U if you take me seriously.
I am serious about the way Beachey is pitching, I don;t know how long he can keep it up but its nice to see. We know one thing–he is doing better going deeper into games than he was as a rookie
Hanrahan not looking too sharp
May 17th, 201210:03 pm
As we revel in what appears to be a good win, I can only hope that Mitchell will appear later to tell us why we should be sad and depressed…
Can the Nats keep winning
May 17th, 201210:04 pm
Take care, my friends. Will converse tomorrow…
May 17th, 201210:05 pm
Nats down to last out
Mitchell should be giddy tonight, I can’t count the number of times he’s gone apeshoot in the past few years when Bobby pulled a starter without a shutout after 7 or 8 innings.
Down to last strike
We talk baseball, other sports, music, movies, BBQ and whatever (except politics or religion)
