Go Braves! Forget today and get em tomorrow!
May 14th, 201211:26 pm
It’s hard to believe this offense can go so well in Colorado and St. Louis, but die in Chicago and at home.
May 14th, 201211:41 pm
Prado looked like he was running in molasses. Wilson got the bunt down well. No way, Prado should have been out at 2nd unless he was loafing. Heck, it was going to be close at first.
May 14th, 201211:43 pm
6 innings 0 ER for Gilmartin tonight at AA. MS and Gwinnett both split DH.
May 15th, 201212:05 am
WTF Braves lose?
May 15th, 201212:06 am
May 15th, 201212:07 am
Go get em tomorrow!
May 15th, 201212:13 am
Venters not looking good,Heyward starting to resemble 2011,and Mc Cann just can’t get out of the starting gate.
May 15th, 201212:25 am
Dont agree frisky. On Heyward anyway. He’s nothing like last year. Being patient and taking good hacks. Sometimes they just don’t fall.
May 15th, 201212:33 am
An error free year…just a thought!
May 15th, 201212:34 am
May 15th, 201212:37 am
Defensive lapses cost us this game. Pastornicky is a Liability with the defense, And McCann has lost so much agility that that Venters “Wild Pitch” would have been blocked by McCann 2 years ago. But it looks like Delgado is becoming the #3 pitcher Just say whatever tonight make Pastornicky take extra infield practice and make McCann get on an elliptical. McCann used to be a good blocker on low pitches now he seems to not be able to make the same defensive plays he used to
May 15th, 201212:40 am
Diaz is going good – got another hit. Why not PH him for Heyward in 8th: Jason had no chance against lefty in that situation.
In the who would have believed it dept: preferring Livan and Durbin in the late innings to Venters. Venters contol is a problem, especially when the catcher is unable to block his balls in the dirt. Try Ross at C.
Other than that just a bad game, first one in a while.
May 15th, 201212:47 am
It was just a poor performance…..It just seemed that the Braves were not mentally into the game. Except for Delgado. How does that Pastornicky play happen also McCann just seemed to not be into the game behind the plate……Maybe a night in their own beds will recharge their batteries and maybe they will have more focus tomorrow.
May 15th, 20121:02 am
@birddawgbill,Just think J Hey striking out a little more than I would like to see. That’s all.
May 15th, 20121:17 am
McCann seems to always misplay a ball in high leverage situations. It’s been happening ever since last season and it always complicates matters for the pitcher. That part of his game definitely needs to improve. He always does it in the late innings when if matters most
May 15th, 20121:27 am
Delgado is the new Kawakami when it comes to run support and dumb crap happening in the field behind him.
May 15th, 20121:29 am
Well, if no one else is gonna say it…
Gotta tip your cap.
May 15th, 20121:38 am
Delgado pitched terrific tonight……if he keeps it up then we wont need Oswalt or any other Starter. Droped his ERA .80 points tonight
Younger Than That Now
May 15th, 20123:01 am
Oswalt?!? No, thank you. I’d much rather take our chances with the young arms that we have. Even in a loss, the experience they gain on every outing is a big plus for every one of them. Games like tonight’s are gonna happen… you learn what you can from them, then forget them and come back tomorrow and go at it again. This is a very good team… more road wins than total home games played… and health permitting, these Braves are going to be even better!
May 15th, 20125:54 am
Heyward has been good this year. Third highest ops on the team. 22 years old and has a .813 ops in the big leagues. Most 22 year olds are in double A.
May 15th, 20126:56 am
There is 0 chance the Braves even consider Oswalt. I detect some of you guys are just waiting for a bad game or two to jump back on the “Braves suck” bandwagon. Players are going to make mistakes and are going to have bad games. That doesn’t mean you bench them, trade them, release them or demote them. I haven’t seen the ‘Fire FG” crowd lately. Some bloggers only show up when they have something negative to say. How about you naysayers that were variously bashing FW,FG, Heyward, Chipper, McCann, Uggla, Bourne and Freeman come on and say “My bad. Guess I don’t know jack”. You too Sonny Clusters-go back and read some of your sarcasm about our future HOF third baseman Chipper. Where’s HT and Rafael coming on saying “Great team! Go Braves”
May 15th, 20127:24 am
Heyward looked hopeless against Chapman in the 8th…just swung at the motion and nowhere near the path of the ball.
May 15th, 20127:31 am
Fredi already tipped his cap to Delgado. Can you read ?
The defense was shoddy last night. Delgado had no-hitter type stuff last night.
Why isn’t nobody talking about how Heyward was playing too shallow on Jay Bruce’s double ? Bruce is a dead-pull hitter and had 10 home runs but Heyward’s playing him shallow ? Wow !
May 15th, 20127:34 am
Well send Heyward back to AA then until he can lay off pitches 4 feet outside.
May 15th, 20127:36 am
If Heyward was playing the correct defense then Bruce’s double would have been an easy fly ball out. He had to turn his back and run to the warning track to chase that ball.
May 15th, 20127:45 am
We just don’t like 1st place.
Actually, we suffer from the worst case of the Mondays I have ever seen!
May 15th, 20127:46 am
I only hit submit comment once…weird.
May 15th, 20127:51 am
Eric Hinske Ball, Ball, Ball, E Hinske grounded into fielder’s choice to first, T Pastornicky out at second,
This was the opportunity to get back in the game, to get the line moving, with a speedy runner on
first. I think Fredi should take the green light option off the table for everyone, cause I don’t remember it working at all for anyone swinging on 3-0 pitch. That was a momentum killer. If he walks, that might have changed the whole inning.
May 15th, 20127:56 am
I have noticed on my MLB app for my phone that almost every pitcher goes after Heyward low and way in, with hard stuff. He has to adjust or he will be doomed. I think Diaz should have hit against a the 100MPH lefty last night in his place.
May 15th, 20128:03 am
Great to see Jason Heyward reverting to his “bust” ways of last year and being TOTALLY overmatched by journeyman Sean Marshall. Great clutch-hitting Jason. Once again you wave at pitch to strikeout with runners in scoring position.
Great to see Fredi playing “russian roulette” AGAIN by bringing in Chad “PROCTOR” Durbin to pitch in a game-changing situation. Fredi, childhood actor who portrayed Ricky Ricardo JR. on the “I Love Lucy Show” got LUCKY! Durbin gave up a long flyball that missed leaving the Ted by 10 feet.
Great to see Jack “Julio Lugo LITE” getting to bat in crucial situations let alone at ALL. WHY is Jack Wilson on a MLB roster????!!!!!!
Great article on Michael Bourn. Bradley had the “guts” to mention everybody ELSES “secret” or “elephant in the room” that Bourn is a BORAS client. This translates to we BETTER ENJOY Michael this year because he’s going to be playing ELSEWHERE in 2013, THANK YOU once again LIBERTY CHEAPIA!!!
May 15th, 20128:05 am
Trade EOF & Prado to Twins for Span. Gives the Braves more speed and if they can’t resign Bourn next season, they will be covered in CF. McCann is a puzzle, can’t see the Braves giving him a boatload of money. Braves have a good team, just need a few tweaks.
May 15th, 20128:06 am
Braves are winning and that is great. It was nice to see a true major league second baseman Monday night, it is ashame he is on the opponents team. Uggla is terrible, 13 mil a year while infante is playing solid ball at miami, can play multiple position if called upon, and is paid 4 mil a year. Frank Wren is the biggest problem with the braves.
Questions that continue for Braves:
Can F Gonzalez manage better than 2011 as the season continue?
Can Heyward continue solid plate appearances?
Can Jones stay healthy enough to make a difference?
Will McCann be able to recover?
Can Atlanta find a left field to start full time that is MLB level?
Pitching: this time of year just hope they all continue without injuries —
May 15th, 20128:12 am
GET RID OF THE MONKEY
May 15th, 20128:28 am
There is a sixth inning wall that Hanson, Beachy, Minor and Delgado have a hard time getting past. They all seem to have over 100 pitches by the sixth inning. I can understand Delgado, but this is the third year for the other 3. It would seem that their arms would be more stretched out by now and their mental approach better to go into 8th inning with under 100 pitches. Leo used to have his starters throw side sessions between starts to strengthen their arms.
On a side note Hanson is really fighting the delivery change this year from last. You can actually see the difference from inning to inning. When he keeps his hands together longer and high before his delivery to the plate it causes the back of his left shoulder to face home plate, which gives him more mph on his fast ball. When he did this his fastball was 90-92 mph. When he separated his hands early and low, the left shoulder never closes to the plate and his fastball tops out at 88 mph. If I can see this from the center field camera shot on TV, then Braves and McDowell should see that also and remind him between each inning to maintain his consistency.
May 15th, 20128:29 am
Wow… you blubberers and self-appointed experts are out in full force today… Rafael, you obviously need a new team to “root” for, if you’d only stop WHINING long enough to realize it… Larry, not even in your delusional best days as a self-proclaimed all-around sports legend could you come close to hitting one of those pitches… and, J-Man, good grief… still on that nutso Oswalt talk…I see you backed down after DOB made you look like a clueless baseball fan yesterday… when you are not stating the blatantly obvious (defensive lapses caused us the game) in one of your recaps, you’re coming up with these statements (like the one about Delgado’s ERA dropping 80 points – I told you yesterday that you can’t put as much stock as you do in statistics only 35 games into a 162-game season – see… I told you so) that are quite telling in regards to your baseball acumen (love the one about you wanting to run out a 40-year old with umpteen knee operations in the two-hole every night, too… sheesh)…
Let’s get it straight one more time, Armchairs:
NO team is going to be “on” every night…. hasn’t happened in a century of baseball yet and it NEVER will…
Even the best of hitters fail 7 out of 10 times… any thought that all hitters on a team can do better than this as a group all of the time is, well, STUPID…
Baseball is full of streaks and luck, period…
The Braves are playing some of the best baseball in the major leagues, period…
EVERY team will have an off night from time to time… that means ALL OF THEM…
None of you, I believe, has the clairvoyance to surmise what is in an individual’s mind, especially when you are watching him from a perch on a couch… Good grief, you guys are full of yourselves…
You are poor fans and you don’t understand Jack Wilson about baseball… GIVE IT UP!!!
May 15th, 20128:37 am
@ lobo, I AM jack wilson and I’ve never met you….. The anonimity of blogs and “lobosolo” serves you well….
May 15th, 20128:41 am
Scouts all over talked about opposing pitchers techniques is an effort to help each other and Leo was given alot of advice and assistance as all teams recieved. Not sure that goes on as much today and the fact that the Gwinnett Braves do not have a good qualified pitching coach shows. At the last home game where jurrjeans pitched on a either sat or sun afternoon, it was very apparent the flaw in his technique. At the start of the 3rd inning I could not take it anymore and yell positive instruction to him, he immediately went to 91 and 92 from the 88 recorded speeds. I know people will laugh at this but it is so true. Rolling off the rubber versus pushing off the rubber was the only difference. When he rolled off the rubber his control was bad and arm trailed well into the pitch. When he pushed off the rubber hard, timing came together which influenced his control and allowed all his pitches to work properly. 91 to 92 fastball with control, a good breaking ball control. I look for jurrjeans to get stronger over the next few weeks and either be called back up or traded.
May 15th, 20128:56 am
Jack Wilson has a good glove and no bat. Those guys never get out of AAA. Maybe they need to pull Pastornicky in the 7th for Wilson’s defense ? Pastornicky isn’t exactly a Derek Jeter with the bat either…
Why Fredi has faith in Durbin is one of the great mysteries on earth…
May 15th, 20128:58 am
I’m sure the Yankees,Angels, and Red Sox have Michael Bourn on their radars. Either of these teams can overpay by millions for him.
May 15th, 20129:01 am
I think Bobby Cox must still be managing the Braves. How ? Pastornicky/Wilson at ss like Blauser/Belliard at ss. Durbin like Reitsma. M.Diaz & Hinske like Conrad & Glaus. Its the same junk.
May 15th, 20129:06 am
Braun’s drug-overturner arbitrator fired.
Well let’s see, Bud Selig owns the Milwaukee Brewers. Ryan Braun plays OF for the Brewers. He tests positive for performance inhancing drugs & gets suspended. Viola! An arbitrator throws out the suspension. Bud Selig is a fraud.
May 15th, 20129:21 am
Rev made one of the all time boneheaded plays last night. Hopefully, he won’t repeat it.
I can’t even recall seeing t ballers do that, though, so I have my doubts. Dude must have rocks for his brains, like Lobosolo….
May 15th, 201210:06 am
alex and phil… neither of you could carry Jack Wilson’s bat bag…. stick to your stature as armchair binky suckas… at least you’re experts on something… kawakrapi, do you even watch the games? Doust thou have any knowledge whatsoever about this team… sounds like you just need an excuse to whine like your bretheren sobsters… And a-wah and a-wah and a-wah…. Game-changer, when are you gonna apply for Frank and Fredi’s jobs? What a bunch of PUTOs!!!!
You said what?
May 15th, 201210:09 am
May 15th, 2012
Trade EOF & Prado to Twins for Span
Worst trade idea in a while
May 15th, 201210:10 am
I know the team as it stands looks good but … St. Louis appears to great at developing good young bats and of course the Braves are great at developing good young arms. Maybe a trade would benefit both teams and ensure they capture their divisions.
May 15th, 201210:11 am
You guys crack me up, every time the braves lose its J-heys fault. How soon you forget, the 2-run homer that won the game Friday night. The 3-run double that gave the braves the lead on Sunday….too funny
May 15th, 201210:24 am
@kenshin, would tend to agree with you, so far braun is having a typical year, although he may be juiced on something else. The chemists are one step ahead of the testers..
@phil,lobo has brains?………
May 15th, 201210:26 am
I have some bad news for a lot of the people on this blog today, hope you can take it.
Heck, it might not even be ‘bad’ news to some of you.
OK, here it comes, brace yourself for this. Here it is.
Sometimes, even the greatest teams,…….don’t win the game.
As in, “you can’t win them all”.
May 15th, 201210:35 am
Rafael @8:03am…..It is a big secret, that Bourne is a Boras client?
I believe someone mentioned that last year, when the Braves made the trade, glad to see you are catching up, with the rest of the planet.
DOB or else it was CR, just had a couple of writeups about Bourne and Boras a day or two ago.
May 15th, 201210:40 am
@10;35…….”DOB or else it was CR”….It was DOB, yesterday, about Bourne.
May 15th, 201210:41 am
@Lobosolo Wow, must be great to know everything! Funny how you call the bloggers on here armchair. YOU ARE THE WORSE ONE!!! However I’m sure you are just wanting to ruffle some feathers on here. Seems like that is all thats on here.
May 15th, 201210:43 am
i knew after we could not get to bailey we were beat if we got to their bull pen, because they have the best bull pen in the league. I thought delgardo pitched great and fredi should not have taken him out until he finished the inning so if the braves got some runs he could have a chance to win the game he had 2 outs and had got the next hitter out 3 times–bad move on fredis part
May 15th, 201210:55 am
May 15th, 2012
Great to see Jason Heyward reverting to his “bust” ways of last year and being TOTALLY overmatched by journeyman Sean Marshall
Rafael, your number of errors resembles Rafael Ramirez. Heyward was struck out by Chapman, not Marshall. Is Marshall a “journeyman” because he has pitched for 2 whole teams?
May 15th, 201211:06 am
@rafael and al:reckingnut and lobo are our resident narcissists, Their self aggrandizing comments are a source of humor for us all. Blogging provides an important outlet for their otherwisw miserable life. They deserve our pity…..
@Lobo and recking.. the salt shakers need refilling and clean the grill now!…
May 15th, 201211:31 am
p.u. bad game
May 15th, 201211:50 am
@alex 11:06……..You and rafael make a fine pair, you are the Dynamic Duo, you can be the Boy Blunder part of the team. haha.
On second thought, maybe The Dynamic Dumbazzes is probably a better name for you all.
Damitboy, can’t you ever contribute anything to the blog, other than your usual snide, ignorant remarks? another haha.
alex, as usual, don’t call us, we’ll call you.
Monday blues continues…when will the jinks end?
May 15th, 201211:57 am
Mark Bradley also had a couple very good reports on Bourn…one up now.
Go Braves and don’t let anothers opinion get you to mad..we don’t wish a heart attacks on anyone.
May 15th, 201212:15 pm
alexis, you wouldn’t know what self-aggrandizing meant if the unused dictionary from your grammar school days came alive and bit you on the behind… dust off the binkie, man, and go for the re-suck…
Al, it’s WORST, not worse… you hayseeds are lacking in other areas besides BASIC baseball…. look at what I wrote, Al… see anything that isn’t true there? BTW, An armchair is a bloke like Larry, Rafael, alexis, Mitchell, et al, ad absurdum, that – despite no experience as a professional ball player or manager – uses 20-20 hindsight to denigrate “their” team and make asinine comments regarding such…
alexis, welcome your new daddy Al to the armchair fold and give him one of your biggest, juiciest, binkies… Suck’em if ya got ‘em, Armchairs!
May 15th, 201212:18 pm
McCann is as good as he’s going to get, both on offense and defense. I still look for the team to end up in third or fourth place in the East.
May 15th, 201212:27 pm
Clean that grill!
least of the east
May 15th, 201212:57 pm
Delagado should replace Minor as 4th starter. the guys we sign as free agents like Beachy and Delagdo produce while high draft picks like Minor, Devall, Rasmus, Stovall, Evarts and Evans disappoint.
You must be a foreman on a hamburger assembly line somewhere, is the BK, McDs, Wendy’s, probably Krystals??
May 15th, 201212:59 pm
I BELIEVE THIS GAME WAS A SIMPLE CASE OF MENTAL LET DOWN/WE NEED TO GET A LITTLE TOUGHER TO EXPECT A CHAMPIONSHIP-BUT THIS TEAM CAN DO IT
May 15th, 20121:07 pm
@Lobosolo… Anya Hashimika Yobosayo I actually agree with you. What is the matter with everyone? It is one game.
May 15th, 20121:08 pm
@Largo Get a life friend. Mac will be fine. WS bound.
May 15th, 20121:14 pm
OK GUYS IF YOU HAVE TO CHOOSE DO YOU SIGN BOURN OR BMAC ?
May 15th, 20121:18 pm
@ TripleThreat Both. With retirement of chipper, Lowe money, you have enough.
May 15th, 20121:46 pm
So now Lobosolo is a grammar teacher. Looking back at some of your posts, its a wonder you can even spell. “You hayseeds” what is that? I have more baseball knowledge in my little toe than you could ever know. So I suggest get out of your Mom’s basement and get a life. LOSER
May 15th, 20121:50 pm
In 2011, the best team in baseball (the Yankees), won 97 games and lost 65. Even if we win the WS, we, too, are going to lose 60-plus games. This was one of them.
May 15th, 20121:54 pm
This is just one loss of many. Chill out guys. As my father would say Muncho yi kili Mau
May 15th, 20122:15 pm
What a fan base.U ain’t going 2 win 160 games! The Braves have a good Team with a good group of players,so why don’t some of U chill and enjoy the summer.I love my Team and Freddie is doing a good job dealing with following BC and will b even better when #10 retire.I hope we resign Bourne and Mac will take less than that catcher in St Louis if he wants to stay in (he Atl.As a matter of fact, way less.GO BRAVES!
May 15th, 20122:34 pm
Keep on telling yourself that, Al, as to baseball knowledge, but, like most armchairs you think you can surmise stuff just because you want to… spelling, Al, in your case, spelling…. didn’t answer my question either, I see… what is it about “you hayseeds” that you don’t understand? I’d be careful of hanging with the armchairs… that stuff will rub off on you and is near impossible to get off…..
alexis, when your training period on the binkie is over, just let me know…. should be about time for you to move on up the ladder of suck…. you know, your luster is a little matte itself….
May 15th, 20123:06 pm
I know all. Braves win tonite. Sweep the Marlins. Go to Tampa and win the series. Book it.
May 15th, 20123:08 pm
Why don’t you post on the main blog where the true Braves fans are?
May 15th, 20123:10 pm
I Agree Lobosolo, I think you need to play nice. Chill out. Grab another beer and relax. Muco yi kiki Yobosayo. Sayonara.
May 15th, 20123:20 pm
Blah, Blah ,Blah…..Armchairs blah, blah ,blah.
Same old song and dance lamosolo you call everyone who posts an opinion an idiot and protray yourself as this all-knowing baseball guru. Your not and everyone thinks your a complete waste of space. But your just an armchair yourself your nothing but a replier, somebody posts something and you have to chime in and act like you know more than them. But in all actuality you in your self cannot think or have an opinion until somebody posts. And its always “Armchairs”……in case you havent noticed this is the internet everone is an armchair……even YOU. But me telling you the obvious does you no good because you will never leaarn.
May 15th, 20123:21 pm
May 15th, 20123:22 pm
Could not have said that better Don. Great post!!
May 15th, 20123:23 pm
Watch your spelling, Lobo will call you out on it as well. What is a Lobosolo anyway?
May 15th, 20123:24 pm
Come on guys. Play nice. We are all Brave fans here.
May 15th, 20123:31 pm
Well all these experts here wow…….now Lobosolo is saying he is an expert, Jesus Christ. I knew you were crazy but you never mentioned you were an expert…….did you finally flip out. Also when did I post that I want a 40 year with “Umpteen” knee surgeries out there every night?????? I actually know Chipper cant go at it every day and hopefully Chipper will just be DH when we play the AL teams. But besides of your usual imagination getting out of control and you remember things that never happened I see now that you are going after other posters well I gotta admit I feel a little betrayed you were my crazy reply poster and now your cheating on me. Not cool dude.
May 15th, 20123:32 pm
A lobosolo is what you can get from a Tranny for 5 bucks at 2 oclock in the morning on Castro St. in San Fran
May 15th, 20123:36 pm
Come on Don, I do not think you are nice. Oue niche wa , Muhe kili juy. Moga moga chici.
May 15th, 20123:39 pm
I’m a Brave fan Tommy but its just too easy to mess with lobosolo. Hes like a parot………
Arrrgh ARMCHAIRS whew whoo, thats all he EVER SAYS. Also he tends to want to remember things that never happened. Plus he never has anything of his own to say…….look at his posts its always a reply or response to something another poster put up there. How about coming up with some ideas of your own but he doesnt do that because he is afraid to have someone point out how dumb his idea might be.
May 15th, 20123:43 pm
@J-Man I can see your point. However, I think Don got a little strong. I am glad he does not know what I told him.
May 15th, 20123:47 pm
If you want nice go to Hall-mark
May 15th, 20123:51 pm
I like Hall-mark cards lol
May 15th, 20123:52 pm
@Don If you want to argue, go to Phillie post. As I said you better be thankful that you do not know what I said to you. We are all Brave Fans here. Quit arguing, you might lose.Whats the point antway. Lets have a beer and chill out.
May 15th, 20123:56 pm
@ Tommy its cool but I dont need to be worried what you called me in Japanese. Its words you can throw F-Bombs and I wouldnt give a damn. Because words are words just as long as people dont throw bows then its ok. But you need to get on lobosolo if you gonna get on to me.
May 15th, 20123:58 pm
So who was Britains greatest Prime Minister…….lol
May 15th, 20124:01 pm
@Don Wrong Language my friend. Lobosolo as far as I am concerned has done nothing wrong. You are the one complaining. Have another beer and chill out. Lets all be friends. That is not Japanese.
May 15th, 20124:13 pm
Come on loboso….I mean Tommy. You cant seriously say Im wrong and lobosolo isnt doing anything wrong when he is doing the EXACT SAME thing…………Calling people names is the same no matter what.
May 15th, 20124:17 pm
So I guess its angry peoples day in the blog today
Well I apologize then. I did not see that. Sorry. I am just trying to be your friend. Do you want me to cuzz him out in my Korean?
May 15th, 20124:21 pm
@J-Man.. Do you want to have a beer with me? I have also got saki and sushi if you prefer. No Geisha girls yet!!
May 15th, 20124:25 pm
Did I curse you out……….NO. All I said is I dont give a damn what you call me in Korean. Besides whats to say you didnt curse me out in your language. You said that I should be glad I cant read what your saying about me……Well thats a puss move dude, just say it I wont get mad bro.
