Okay, Marteen, get it going.
May 13th, 20122:22 pm
Oh nooooo! Please no!
Ouch.. But Braves have a chance to get another early lead. Bout time for the young pitcher to get knocked around some.
May 13th, 20122:23 pm
Prado hurt bad??
May 13th, 20122:24 pm
Hope Marteen is okay
Time will tell, Nolie. Fortunately that was a curve that hit him in the back of the hand instead of a heater.
Still smarts, though.
May 13th, 20122:25 pm
He’ll probably be alright. He’s staying in.
Great job working the pitcher.
May 13th, 20122:26 pm
This guy’s nasty.
May 13th, 20122:27 pm
That was a great pitch to get Freeman swinging.
at least Freddie made him throw 8 pitches
May 13th, 20122:28 pm
Thanks for the jinx, Chip
Here comes the cheese Dan!
May 13th, 20122:29 pm
Bourn can’t get a call…
uhhh….not what we were looking for there.
May 13th, 20122:30 pm
Safe…but they vote with their emotions
That inning ended way too easily.
well that didn’t end all that well….
kid looks like he has some pretty good stuff
I don’t like that call by Fredi…. We were having good At bats, they have the best defensive catcher out there… Uggla is a swing and miss guy… Would have liked to see Heyward bat there, could have worked that pitcher alot more.
Why does Bourn always look safe when he steals?
May 13th, 20122:31 pm
Love the strike out, then the strike out and the caught stealing.
Great all around.
Answer: “Because he more often than not is safe.”
May 13th, 20122:32 pm
A mental momentum boost for the young pitcher, he’ll most likely brush off that high pitch inning and settle in now.
May 13th, 20122:33 pm
Curious. Wondering what kind of repoire Heyward and Freeman have these days. They roomed together in the minors and Freeman stayed with Heyward when he was in Gwinnett 2 years ago. Hardly ever see them sitting together or talking on the bench. Hate to sound like Jerry Springer here, but have noticed that even last season.
I am one to advocate to having fleet footed umps–so they can get in quicker to see what they’re actually calling…dang, minimum standard mean should hover around 10 sec. flat 40 yard dash.
That’s the way to make the rookie work……26 pitches in the first inning and it could have been much worse except for the strike ‘um out, throw ‘um out dp.
May 13th, 20122:35 pm
inauspicious start for Hanson
Free pass to start the game for Hanson, who came into the game already leading the Braves in walks.
May 13th, 20122:36 pm
Austin Kearns batting cleanup for the Marlins these days. Really?
It is really irritating when Braves pitchers jump ahead of hitters and then walk them.
May 13th, 20122:37 pm
That was lovely.
Could be short starts for both starters today, Hanson is only averaging 5 1/3 innings per start this season. Great throw by Ross. Easy RBI opportunity for the Cards now.
May 13th, 20122:38 pm
@Mitchell…Yeah…seems as though two get on; Ross holly mackrel!!! Two on then two wiff…this is affectionately called, “Twosies.”
Hanson is kind of difficult to watch these days.
Oh, Tommy, don’t let this happen, please.
May 13th, 20122:39 pm
McFann :Ô: :Ô:
V. Jim Mac’s fault…
Yeah, the maniac…look at all the trouble he’s causing!…
Ross throws that into CF.
He couldn’t start on any MLB team.
Another great throw by Ross.
Was there in “ownage” from Fish before the game started??
May 13th, 20122:40 pm
Finally get to watch a Braves game on TV and it’s gonna be one of these types of games. Well Chipper and McCann are both out so it is kinda like waving the white flag.
To give you guys some perspective on Chipper’s place in MLB history, here are his rankings in many important categories:
Wins Above Replacement (WAR) 53rd all time.
WAR (position players) 33rd
WAR (offensive) 25th
On Base Percentage 53rd
Slugging Percentage 45th
Runs Created 26th
On Base plus Slugging 32nd
Runs Scored 51st
Total Bases 35th
Home Runs 33rd
Base on Balls 20th
No matter how you slice it, Chipper Jones is one of the 50 best players to ever put on a MLB uniform. He’s a first ballot Hall of Famer and we’ve had the good fortune to watch him for the last 20 years.
May 13th, 20122:41 pm
Oh yeah, that’s a strike, senior!…
‘Bout dang time he got a K.
Great pitch by Hanson.
May 13th, 20122:42 pm
May 13th, 20122:43 pm
Hanson walks 2, then strikeouts 2. Great comeback.
It’s a sea of red because the seats are red.
It’s looks red either way.
Typical McCANT!! Guy is the worst defensive catcher in N.L. He is a huge liability, and now he can’t hit his own. weight. The brilliant Wren will probably sign him for 10 years and hand cuff the braves once again with another of his terrible long term deals; I would trade the lard ASS right now before his batting average is below .200 and then nobody will want a catcher that can’t throw out anyone, and a catcher that can’t stop any ball that hits in the dirt. Guy is the most overrated catcher in baseball as far as his defense and arm are concerned. My 10 yr old son has a better, more accurate throwing arm than this lardASS!!
May 13th, 20122:44 pm
Come on Tommy.
1991 Braves Typical McCANT!
Ross is catching today.
Rob from SC
May 13th, 20122:45 pm
Hanson turns into a nibbler..Gets ahead and then all breaking balls.
But thank you for playing…
Tommy pulling out his “A” stuff today?
May 13th, 20122:46 pm
Tommy Hanson is pretty fun to watch pitch these days. Haha
@VaBravesFan…Hang in there, glad you have the visuals today..it could really turn out to be a great win.
Now that is a helluva comeback. Stuff a ACE pitcher does right there. Terrible inning by the Cardinals. Wastes 2 easy RBI opportunities by not making contact.
May 13th, 20122:47 pm
Good to see 1991 Braves showing that he is a real student of the game…
That scrub, Tommy Hanson, can’t get a strike out when he needs it. Guy’s a number 5 starter if he’s lucky.
He struck out the meat of the Cardinal’s order with runners on second and third and no one out?
Both teams squander promising starts, could be a low scoring one today.
May 13th, 20122:48 pm
and Crime Dog had a crappy at bat in the first with runners on too….
this is sweet, thanks to slingbox and tbs, I can actually watch a braves game here in germany..
May 13th, 20122:49 pm
1991–Classic last stool at the end of the bar rant. Order another Black Label, Mabel.
I agree with what Darling just said about Fredi and Bourn.
May 13th, 20122:50 pm
Tommy dug deep, best 3 batter sequence of his season so far.
Hi folks, I’m sure this has been covered but why hasn’t Don Sutton been calling the games lately?
Good job, Jason!
oh, and Bourn was safe. Wally has absolutely no angle on that call.
May 13th, 20122:51 pm
Great start, Working the count and drawing walks, getting to the bullpen is way to do it.
what did ron,darling, just say?
Anyone see Damon’s HOF campaign speech? Thoughts?
Mr. Strikeout Fransisco is hitting. Wonder what the outcome will be?
May 13th, 20122:52 pm
Francisco was looking dead red fastball.
That was awesome by Tommy.
That felt like watching the bullpen working in extra innings during the road trip.
Or did it? Maybe that’s just me.
Looked like we were about to lose the game in the first inning though.
There’s still time for that.
May 13th, 20122:53 pm
good bunt, Juan
Fredi should have had red light on Bourn in that spot. Molina behind the plate, Uggla a swing and miss guy, Heyward on deck… You don’t run yourself out of a inning at 3rd base..
just a thought how about moving medlin into the starting lineup and moving minor to the pen for a while.meds has been pitching lights out this year and was our best starter before he was injured.
May 13th, 20122:54 pm
Juan can fly.
Ross hits the soft-tossers better. Lynn should stick with the fastball against him.
V. Jim Good to see 1991 Braves showing that he is a real student of the game…
Yeah, he’s really on top of things—big-time fan, for sure…
May 13th, 20122:56 pm
David “aint no mountain high engough” Ross fans!
May 13th, 2012
Glad I didn’t say that.
May 13th, 20122:57 pm
Another jinx. Just had to talk about Tyler’s 8th position for hitting in scoring position.
May 13th, 20122:59 pm
pasternicky has been a pleasant surprise
McFann. Is Big Mac ok?
May 13th, 20123:00 pm
bravesgrl4life Another jinx.…
We need to get Joe and Chip to just ramble on and on about how BMac’s batting below .250 and next thing you know, he’ll be right back in the .300s!!…
It’s not Molina behind the plate today.
Too many surprises in the field. Rev forgot to cover second a little bit ago.
May 13th, 20123:01 pm
Dang it, McCann, it’s all your fault, even though you are on the bench today.
May 13th, 20123:02 pm
Woody, I wouldn’t say Rev forgot. We don’t know for sure who was responsible there.
I think so. I read that he was gonna play all 3 of these games, but the 12-inning game on Friday kinda changed their plans on that. No mention of when he rolled his ankle last night, so I’m guessing it’s fine and didn’t swell up overnight or anything…
May 13th, 20123:03 pm
Not a bad idea, McFann
Tommy getting a generous corner on the breaking pitch. If the ump keeps calling it, keep throwing it.
Tommy hitting 91 instead of 89 today
For real. It’s creepy how some guys cann still control things even when they’re not involved at the time…
