I have not seen much on JJ lately.I would be very thankful for any info that I get .I also don’t understand why The Braves are willing to let our CF and lead-off hitter walk.We need him more than we need to sign other players to long term contracts They also need to give Prado a long term deal also.I look at Infante in Fla and Escabor in Canada and I am tired of letting these type of players get away!Go Braves

Coach (2012 Fredi’s Beisbol Fandango) Just remember, Dodge’s numbers are being put up against Triple A pitching. All decisions of player personnel next year are relative how much Liberty Media is willing to loosen the purse strings….

Carlos Beltran is now the player the Mets thought they paid for. Goes to show you the difference in playing hurt and playing injured. The Cards paid him a pretty good price but it was short term. In two years they can look for another free agent to take a chance on.

Most GMs don’t mind paying a guy a big salary as long as they are not committed to it for more than a couple of years. What kills a payroll is being stuck with a guy who is not producing and still has lots of time left on the deal (see Derreck Lowe)

That’s a cool article and very true. I like the following line:

“Too many knuckleheads have Hall of Fame ballots, but Chipper’s resume is knucklehead proof.”

Classic. Chipper has the highest OPS of any 3rd baseman. Ever. Chipper is the only 3rd baseman with a slash line of .300/.400/.500. Ever. Pretty much, ’nuff said.

jj – We didn’t let Escobar get away. We sent him away, with a firm boot planted up his patootie, as it should have been. Look up jerk in the dictionary. That’s his picture next to it.

Larry…

I don’t know if you know this or not, but Chipper IS 40, so he’s gonna look like a 40 year old at times. Last night was also the first time this season where he struck out more than once in a game….blockhead. Thanks for your time

Jurrjens is 2-1 in 3 games at Gwinnnett. He has pitched 22 innings, struck out 9, walked five and has a 1.00 WHIP with 17 hits in those 22 IP.

Not so sure we can even tell which one is better between Durango or Constanza, much less consider making wither our CFer next year.

Constanza – ..340, .420, .437 with 4 2B, 3 3B, 15 BB, 16K, 7 SB and 0CS

Durango – .276, ..349, ..351, with 6 2B, 2 3B, 15BB, 28K (yikes), 19 SB and 3CS

“……A writer for MLBTRADERUMORS is an advocate of giving Beachy an extension. Does anyone have any thought on this? Is it too early for this kind of talk or is he the real deal?……”

I watched BEACHY in regard to his avowed intent to cut down on wasted pitches and get hitters out with ground balls instead of SO’s. At least through the first three innings it worked very well. Seemed he reverted a bit as he went through the line-up repeatedly, and he flagged just a bit in the later innings, but I thought for sure he’d come out for the bottom of the seventh. I guess FREDI knew the gas-can was near empty after six, however.

We’re seeing a progression of an excellent control pitcher with some giggy-up on his fastball morph from a thrower to a pitcher. When he completes the journey, he’s going to be a lights out hutrler in my estimation. Sign him to an extension now? I would.

Durango is most likely trying something different in the batter’s box by his high amount of K’s. Feel bad for the guy, he only owns a 300/400 avg/obp line in the minors, must have to do something else to get a chance. Even clearly earning a job in spring training isn’t enough.

I want DOB’s job!

Flies to a nice city, watches a game, meets the players afterward for a few quotes, types it all up in about 20-30 mnutes, hits send, does the same the next day, takes a few days off every few days and hands it over to Carroll, and gets a 3-4 month break in the off-season. — Larry

No, it only takes us about 10-15 minutes to write. And it’s 4-1/2 months off in offseason. Nothing to cover between last pitch of regular season and first pitch of spring training.

Thanks for understanding our jobs, Larry. Enjoy.

Very unlikely that we win today.

We are going aganist statistically MLB’s best pitcher in Lynn. Add to that we won’t have either Jones or Mac in the lineup. We have Hanson going who is our number 4 guy at the moment and hasn’t pitched a gem lately. Also don’t forget we are going up aganist one of the best offenses in MLB.

So lets not get our hopes too high for today. 2/3 not bad

Do you read the blog before posting??

The good news is that Carlos Beltran is 0-for-10 against Hanson, and Matt Holliday, Jon Jay and Yadier Molina are a combined 0-for-9 against him.

Yeah, disregard how many days in a row he works. The red eye flights. The hassle at the airports. The getting into the next city at 3a. The number of nights under or around 3 to 4 hours of sleep or the long days. Sure, the job has some perks. But, seriously, let’s not pretend it is all gravy.

There used to be a website called “GreatestJournal” Back in highschool I used to write about sports daily on there. I’d just give my opinion about the moves teams were making and stuff like that. I remember writing a really long entry when Greg Maddux surprisingly accepted ARB and we were forced to trade Kevin Millwood cause of money. Good old times. So this site is perfect for what I like to do in my spare time.

My points about the Stereroid Era is that we shouldnt just exclude because of stereroids and just act like the stereroid era never happened I feel that the ENTIRE history should be accounted for and players that made contributions should still be honored. While its unfortunate that players took stereroids, I cant blame any players doing it if it could mean earn a multimillion dollar contract and to be able to provide for their family for generations. It wasnt illegal in MLB until 2005 and it took Jose Canseco to “Blow the whistle” before anyone looked at it and the congressional investigations before anyone believed it and until the Mitchell report until people had names. Plain and simple the “Baseball Reporters”, these SAME baseball with the “MORAL AUTHORITY” tonow keep players out did nothing because it ment people read their articles and bought their books on the amazing Home Runs. Remember “Chicks dig the long ball”, everyone was profiting off the Home Runs but now we have the phoney sports reporters now excluding a lot players like Jeff Bagwell because he worked out a lot and never actually had a positive stereroid test…….Its just a witch hunt.

I wish more players (hope you read this, JHey) would realize that just a smile and a wave to the fans means a lot. We realize that you can’t come over and sign for everyone who wants you to, but you could treat us all like fellow human beings who are excited to see you, who came to the game to watch you and are spending their hard-earned money to be there.

I’m not a mom, but I am so happy I went for a baby dedication at a different church this morning. Our friends dedicated their adopted baby boy, my little A.J., this morning. I may not be a mother, but I am the world’s best aunt (just ask my niece!) and I am so happy Sandy and Jason are allowing me to play that role for A.J.

So, Happy Mother’s Day to all of those of you that are moms or moms-to-be no matter how far in the future that may be. Mommies make the world go round.

It’s really a hard day for me to celebrate, having lost my mom 8+ years ago, but I hope everyone who still has their mom will remember to call her today. We’ll be calling my husband’s mother, whom I proudly call “Mom”, later today. Grateful I have her.
