Braves fans should be very grateful we have a great closer, awesome 1st baseman, RF, and a few really good starters which are all cheap on the teams payroll.
May 8th, 201211:37 pm
I see your point, but a three game series proves nothing,
And I’m not even gonna talk about the Nationals.
How are the Nats dominating the Braves, exactly?
I don’t even think we re-sign Bourn
May 8th, 201211:38 pm
I’m actually trying to send them a bill charging them $100 an hour for the 3 hours I spent on hold trying to fix their billing mistake that I knew was going to exist from the moment their DRUNK independent contractor left my house.
No luck yet, but I’ll keep you posted.
May 8th, 201211:39 pm
I used to get way more attention here when I was nasty. Least I know where to go to get some attention.
So do we just do nothing with that 24 million Nolie?
Admittedly, I’m only seen DELGADO on the bump three times, but his stuff had snap tonight. It seemed electric by comparison to this spring and last season. If the kid stays this good, that era should soon begin to shrink as i suppose it did tonight.
Domination over the Braves is not the point. Playing bad baseball against particular teams is.
“I don’t even think we re-sign Bourn”
I like Bourn, but I wonder if we should not have kept the pothead around. Lesser lead off man, but better value.
May 8th, 201211:40 pm
We have not even played the Nats yet…I’m just trying to figure out how they fit into your comment…
May 8th, 201211:41 pm
24 million municipal bonds

You’re leaving CHATTTOWN for NASTYVILLE! Say it ain’t so JOE!
Alcoholic Bum Hits 4HRs. Cheered by thousands. Story at 11.
May 8th, 201211:43 pm
Lost the Dodgers game due to SHAPE SHIFTING traffic by Comcast.
Someone call my senator!
May 8th, 201211:44 pm
And i’m trying to figure out why is so difficult to grasp the idea that i might not be limiting my argument to this year…
May 8th, 201211:45 pm
Where’s your net neutrality now?
May 8th, 201211:46 pm
Maybe because this year is the one that matters. Previous years are over and done with.
Alcoholic Bum Hits 4HRs
I’d gladly have that kind of alcoholic bum on the roster..
acquire some decent but cheaper players, pay raises and bonuses, perhaps extend Mac or Freddie.put some in the bank, and Hopefully use some to restock the available draft funds
I’m not saying that there is no chance on Bourn, but I think he will want more than they will want to pay.
I do think there is no chance at all on Hamilton
Well lets see how we do against the Cardnials and Nationals since they look like teams we are gonna need to beat
Steve from OH
May 8th, 201211:49 pm
Gimme a break. Half of these guys (or more) are probably alcoholic bums in their spare time. The only difference is he’s the one being publicized.
“Gimme a break. Half of these guys (or more) are probably alcoholic bums in their spare time. The only difference is he’s the one being publicized.”
Not Mickey Mantle or Darren Daulton…
May 8th, 201211:54 pm
I really dont know if Mac should warrant an extension like Molina from the Cardnials got. Since the All-Star game last year he has not hit over .200. He no longer tries to hit for average like he did 2 years ago and tries to hit it out of the ballpark every time making him susceptible to double playsand he still never makes adjustments to that shift teams always put on him. Also his defense has regressed alot, and he has 1 of the worst throwing out baserunner percentages in the majors. And is a big guy and that extra weight will affect his knees being a catcher and he cant move to 1st base.
May 8th, 201211:58 pm
We owe mac. Give him a new contract that pays him well until he’s 33. Then let him got to the AL and pull DH backup catcher duty.
We can’t pay him $12m for 34, 35 and 36yo though, no.
DS1 called me a stoner, I suspect he has reading comprehension issues due to rage. I think he’s a truck driver and hits the meth pipe.
tl;dr don’t hire DS1 to drive your truck
I don’t know if they will extend him either, I kinda think so but would not be real surprised if it does not happen
May 8th, 201211:59 pm
wasn’t really worth repeating noles….
May 9th, 201212:04 am
Well Mac will make 12 million next year unless he gets bought out gor $500K
On a side note Hudson will make 9 million unless we buy him out for a million.
May 9th, 201212:07 am
I think he is worth what Molina got, not much more to an NL team at least
May 9th, 201212:10 am
May 9th, 201212:14 am
I’ve been a little irascible tonight… good times.
The A Bomb
May 9th, 201212:17 am
Any of you guys making a big deal about hitting this year isn’t watching. Braves making a ton of hard outs this year.
Walker is the man.
And imagine if Wren had keeled over in the deal with Houston last season — no Minor, no Delgado. We would have been screwed.
As it is one more solid arm wouldn’t hurt. Like a 3-4 guy. Hanson scares the bejeezus out of me.
May 9th, 201212:18 am
thank you for the quotage David, appreciate you bringing it back
May 9th, 201212:19 am
There’s no doubt the hitting and approach are as good this year as we’ve seen in a long time.
DOWN ON THE FARM
The Bandits have BLUE WAHOO for dinner matching the score in CHICAGO.

May 9th, 201212:20 am
I don’t have much trouble with hanson, get us a good LFer and I’ll be happy next winter
May 9th, 201212:21 am
Simmons tearin’ it up I see, thanx rich
May 9th, 201212:22 am
Thanks richbrave —
Looks like Lipka is starting to look like a top pick.
I can’t wait to see him and Ahmed progress. Like them both.
May 9th, 201212:23 am
Beltran having the same years so far as he did last.
May 9th, 201212:24 am
Hanson’s too mechanical for my good taste. And I agree — a bat for LF would be great if we could re-ignite Prado/Jurrjens/prospect while they’re still tradable.
I think JJ needs to come back up soon if nothing else for value sake.
May 9th, 201212:26 am
BaseballRef shows Lipka at 268, I wonder how far behind they are
And Northcraft — SoCal boy from Mater Dei High School. Wow — 9 Ks….Well done!
May 9th, 201212:28 am
Jeezus H, the G-Men are shut out and the ROME gang are no-hit. DAN FILAK has another stellar pitching performance go aglimmerin’. Makes me want to puke after the game in CHICAGO. Tomorrow folks.
Yunel's Frosted Tips
We don’t owe Mac sh*t ………he is declining………let him walk………hitting .200 since last July
Oh, yeah, it IS tomorrow. Well……….later then.
May 9th, 201212:33 am
@ Nolie you want a “Good LF” next year to be happy but dont want Josh Hamilton???????? Is he too good for you? The best player in baseball is too good for you.
May 9th, 201212:37 am
“……BaseballRef shows Lipka at 268, I wonder how far behind they are……”
Not far. he’s been pretty hot last several games…8-19 last four games; 17-40 last ten. But batting .179 against lefties, and .333 against RH’ers this season.
May 9th, 201212:39 am
he is declining………let him walk………
Of course, there is no team in MLB that would have any interest in such a no-talent bumb, so his walk would be back to the Retirement Village…
He was at .268 on the first of the month.
May 9th, 201212:41 am
“The best player in baseball is too good for you.”
I’d take Kemp or even even Braun, but… regardless, we can’t afford Hamilton. No way.
BTW, to qualify my answer, Kemp is 27, Braun is 28, Hamilton is 31.
Kemp and Braun also steal 30-50 bases.
May 9th, 201212:42 am

May 9th, 201212:45 am
The Dodgers have finally lost a home game to a team not from Atlanta…
Bottom line is McCann will be a Brave as long as Mr. Wren is the dealer.
You can say that Kemp is better than Hamilton but no way Braun is better.
May 9th, 201212:47 am
33 SB last year, 3 years younger?
Braun has herpes. Hamilton is a lush.
I’d take Braun.
May 9th, 201212:48 am
@Yunel’sfrostedtips…vis-a-vis Countschemula….Shall we meet with different names.
May 9th, 201212:49 am
Braves are not giving ANY $20 million contracts unless there’s new ownership. No way.
Molina deal might have screwed us out of Mac but we’ll see. No doubt he’ll have to pick it up or he’ll be a DH before we know it. It’s not like we don’t have good prospects to come in and take over.
Like I said with SS, anyone could come in and do better than Gonzalez. Way Mac has been playing lately he is definitely replaceable.
But on a positive note its nice to see a 3-1 Braves win………..Make me miss Maddux, Glavine and Smoltz
oh hey, I LOVE the name Yunel’s Frosted Tips, but I only post under count_schemula, or… Samantha.

Updated game story with quotes
Brauns on HGH Hamilton is on alcohol
May 9th, 201212:55 am
LF JAMES GATTIS [.323 BA] 1-3, 1 RBI , 1 CS , 1 Picked Off.
Tut tut, Jimbo. Just keep hitting HRs and then you wont have to worry much about base-running.
By the way, “Signable” got his first win of the season. Good for him.
May 9th, 201212:58 am
“Brauns on HGH Hamilton is on alcohol”
Does not match my theory. I think Braun has an itchy penis.
He was probably on a steroid like prednesone or something (which they gave me for an eczema condition). They load you up – I had to take 8 pills the first day, then 7, then, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1.
He should have gotten permission, but was “embarrassed.”
So, yes, he failed the drug test, maybe even posted crazy levels, but I don’t think it was HGH or a performance enhancing steroid. I think it was herpes medicine.
He always maintained his innocence, said he would tell the whole story, but when he got off on a technicality, he was like, pfft, that skeleton stays in the closet.
Just my theory…
May 9th, 20121:00 am
McCann migt be faster than Yonder Alonso.
Alonso just scored from second and… he is SLOW…
May 9th, 20121:03 am
can you not read? I said nothing about not wanting Hamilton, I said that the Braves will not sign him and gave the reasons.
Interesting theory, maybe he did come out to MLB and then they had “Tampering” evidence to come up. But dont rule out Chlamydia because they give you a big antibiotica and a stereroid to treat it……so it might not be itchy penis as opposed to oozing penis
May 9th, 20121:05 am
Now you may throw up
May 9th, 20121:07 am
I’ve spent the past 20 minutes compiling the list of teams with more wins than the Braves – I apologize for taking up so much space:
May 9th, 20121:08 am
well nolie that didn’t work at all…she fell asleep and she doesn’t wake up.
May 9th, 20121:10 am

May 9th, 20121:12 am

May 9th, 20121:13 am
She’ll wake up… If you wake her up.
May 9th, 20121:14 am

Love early to mid-period Wilco but that song, I Am Trying to Break Your Heart, has some of the worst words in the history of lyricism.
By the way, I hear Uggla got the clutch game winning hit but once again, I wasn’t there to see it so it didn’t happen.
As far as I’m concerned the go ahead runs scored on wild pitches.
From now on with regards to Matty and Uggla, if I don’t see them do something live with my own two eyes I’m just going to have to assume that all of their highlights were edited to include special effects.
They’ve got Bud Selig by the balls. It’s a conspiracy I tell you.
I’m kidding. Ha ha. Silly me.
About time we scored some runs for Randall but I guess he doesn’t get the win.
I never really understood why people were so against him. He’s still young.
He gave up four runs to the Pirates and it was as if he ran over an old lady with a walker.
Didn’t think we’d win tonight, that’s why I was so annoyed after the 5-1 loss.
Glad Randall stepped up again and gave the offense a chance to get a win.
Let’s finish it off tomorrow and take it to St. Louis.
Man, I wish it was September right about now. I just want to know how it’s all gonna end this time.
May 9th, 20122:00 am
May 8th, 2012
Yeah, and they’re finally all playing the way they’re supposed to play (not to mention some of the older more expensive players), the way they should have played last year.
They’re all generally too good not to perform the way they have at the start of this season for the rest of the season.
By the way, can we find a cot for Jason down in the visitors’ clubhouse at Wrigley?
He needs to consider some commuting options to and from Atlanta.
Something about the Cubs and Wrigley Field get him going.
May 9th, 20122:02 am
Okay, I’m basically just talking to myself now.
But then, it’s everything I’ve ever wanted.
May 9th, 20122:15 am
Hello everyone! Hamilton would be nice at the right price. I would sign Hamilton over Bourn. Power over speed, and just bring up Durango next year. Bourn might not be signed, but Hamilton could be? If not Hamilton than keep Bourn, and snag Victorino. Josh Hamilton would be worth a contract. Bourn would want too much. It wouldn’t be worth what Bourn could be asking for. Hamiliton would definately be worth a contract.
May 9th, 20122:16 am
Love speed, but seeing Hamilton hit, is just power……..
May 9th, 20122:18 am
Nice Braves win, and Hawks win tonight.
May 9th, 20123:26 am
Beating a pitcher like Dempster was huge. Happy for Uggla, some times singles are just as good as a home runs. What matters is he drove in some runs. Braves are in 1st place, not bad at all, and very well pleased. All, talk tomorrow, and Peace my friends……”Go!!!!!Braves!!!!!”
May 9th, 20124:15 am
Man, I wish it was September right about now. I just want to know how it’s all gonna end this time…Mitchell
seems to be spoken by an impatient idiot that does not give a damn about actually watching and enjoying baseball but only cares for season wins and losses..no wonder i hate what he posts
May 9th, 20125:22 am
Seeing what Delgado did aganist the Cubs makes you realize just what a terrible pitcher Hanson has become. Our opening day starter perhaps is the worst SP in our rotation. Now with Jurrjens gone I suspect Hanson will be picked on by many of the fellow Brave Bloogers.
May 9th, 20126:44 am
Jurrjens who? Delgado is looking better with each start. Yes, Delgado’s young and inconsistency is part of the picture, but I say stick with him.
In fact, what if… what if Jurrjens looks like he’s back on track but Delgado is pitching well in Atlanta. What do the Braves do?
May 9th, 20126:50 am
Thanks so much for the Gattis story,(I’ll bet you’re hoping for an every day continuation should he get called up) and thanks for hustling for the post quotes.
A good friend was diagnosed with ALS just prior to Christmas and I’ve been up most of the night preparing for a fundraiser we’re having for him this morning / afternoon. It’s certainly been a welcome break to catch up a bit on the ol’ blog.
May 9th, 20126:51 am
The Gattis story reminds me of another late blooming slugger, Jack Cust.
May 9th, 20126:56 am
After swimming in the Vernon Wells, fired Angels GM Tony Reagins heads to the local watering hole to get punch drunk on shots of Pujols.
Bartender: “Mr. Reagins, Haven’t you had enough?”
Reagins: “I love this dive bar, man. Gimmee another, 0 for 4 with a Strikeout shooter.”
Reagins: “…and put in some Johnny Paycheck! Wooohoo!”
Bartender: “Call him a taxi…”
