Let’s hope Hudson is on and getting ground balls… so far this season he’s split right down the middle on ground balls vs fly balls/line drives.
Wilson might be looking up a lot if Hudson isn’t his normal self.

I take it as that is not good.
Costing the team 10 runs over what 30 games? Yeah, thats like Garrett Anderson being in LF again. I doubt Pastornicky is as bad as those numbers considering Tulo and Reyes are just ahead of him. Just for conversation talk. Yunel has saved the Blue Jays 8 runs so far.

If it’s going to be this much of a trial….they could have split Pasto and Simmons 80 games each to give them lots of starting opportunity, a defensive specialist for Huddy games and such and let them duke it out man to man.
Would either ruin both of them or create one super SS! lol
Okay maybe not ideal, but Wilson is just a boring story. Super SS is probably the 2nd best super-hero story this summer next to The Avengers. Think about that!

I’m hopeful that JJ is figure things out, that alone could be a huge boost down the road. And given the advancement that Gattis is showing, that could also possibly pay some dividends down the line this year.

I agree… If he had played AA and was in AAA this year I could see him getting called up, but he is tearing up AA and could get moved to AAA before to long. The only player here in Gwinnett at SS is Wilson and they’ll happily move the 30+ year old to the bench for Simmons!!

That’s just me being selfish… There’s not much here in Gwinnett right now to watch except when Teheran starts… Terdo has been terible and everyone else is older AAAA players!! Not many young prospects to get excited about yet. I’m selfishly hopeing to see Simmons Gattis and Christian at some point along with Gilmartin.

The Braves’ offense never was contingent on Gonzo’s bat last year or the end of 2010, nor would it have been this year, anymore than it is on The Rev’s offensive contributions. We let an older Dude who wanted a multi year deal walk in favor of the bridge to the future. Just not that big a deal and the standings show it.

George – Any talk of obtaining Furcal is irrelevant, after he and his agent screwed the Braves…no matter what the time frame. Braves won’t do business that way…PERIOD.

When the season started I said I like this team the FO put together a lot ,I like it even more now
Fredi tends to over react to some things but he always tries to improve the club as does Frank so we’ll see
WE are as fans are blessed to see Chippers last run(hope he come’s back to go for 500)
If our bats stay steady and our arms gain a few MPH over may we just might make a storied campaign for all to celebrate

And if you look at Gonzo’s performance, during the collapse was the only time he stepped up offensively. Color me unimpressed with how he did the final couple weeks. We lost a good glove and several mil in salary. Not worth griping about – especially since he’s out anyway.

I seem to recall Bethancourt is not much of a power hitter…still needs to be a better hitter to be a consistent starter in the majors, but his defense is outstanding…I imagine he is projected to be with the big club in a few years (maybe next year as a back up if Ross is not resigned)- Mac is going to be with the club through at least next season so there is time for the kid to keep improving his bat

•I wish there was more offseason NFL coverage on ESPN, specifically on alleged “bounty” issue I’ve heard whispers about. (Sarcasm font)
That is exactly why watching ESPN is a waste of life.
I hope that the likes of MLB Network, NFL Network, etc…will start to turn the tide and make ESPN go away. I know it sounds impossible since ESPN seems to have a monopoly on sports broadcasting. But other giants have fallen in the past.
Unless you live in New York or Boston, there is very little reason at all in watching any ESPN channel. Sportscenter is a joke as is their entire broadcast team. All their best have left for better endevours.

Murph, doing pretty good… How are things going down in your world? I’ve seen a few posts pop up on my FB news feed, saw the ol cannon ball into the pool pic. Looked like a good day.
Yeah, haven’t been on here much. I haven’t really found much time here at work, it’s been rather busy lately. And reading some of the posts, it looks like I’ve missed a few things.
Got my tickets to one of the games in late July against the fish. Hoping by that time we’re leading the pack.

Yeah, unless you are an NFL junkie (a lot are, but not me) or an NBA fan, to a lesser degree (I quit watching when Larry Bird retired), or a Yanks or Sox fan, ESPN has little to offer.
PTI and Sports Reporters are about all I watch.

Even then, ESPN has too much of boring yappity yap from “experts”. It used to be more about highlights and with funny commentary at times. Now it’s blah blah blah all the time.
Also extremely stupid – on one hand they are bidding millions and millions on getting european soccer coverage rights, but their SC people constantly talk down the sport. Doesnt seem like a very intelligent approach at all.

The only good news with ESPN is the silencing of Valentine and Moyer this year with them somehow finding other jobs….
And Steve Phillips did an admirable job of silencing himself a couple of years ago by being an idiot.

On the bounty thing. The NFL over the past few years has made rule changes to cut down on injureys, ,but the game has changed not for the better. the past few years the offences have improved out of proportion., just look at the passing stats, used to be 50% completion was good now it is close to 60 or 65% is considerd good, scores are why up. The QB is now over protected. S

Both are defensive standouts. I think Simmons is bumped up to Gwinnett sooner rather than later. Bethancourt is off to a slower start offensively, so I’m thinking if he goes to Gwinnett, it’s toward the end of the season.
Interesting, though. If Simmons makes it to Gwinnett earlier than later and does well, surely he’s got to be considered as contending with Pastornicky for shortstop in ‘13 (provided Pastornicky continues to play capably offensively and defensively).
Got to believe Simmons is management’s favorite for shortstop. Would the Braves’ consider moving Pastornicky elsewhere in the field? Could he play center, presuming Bourn is gone? Does Pastornicky move into a super-utility role? Or would the Braves just try to trade him?
Longer range stuff, but interesting.

Against LHPers (20 ABs with 4 BB), Diaz has an OPS >1.100 with 2 HR and 1 2B.
No need to look at his numbers vs. RHPers. Barring an injury to another player, Diaz should get as close to zero ABs vs. RHPers as possible.

Once the Braves traded Lowe, AT had a lot less to say. And, unlike you, he didn’t pick another player to “hate on (cough … Diaz … cough).”
Right now I’m torn… Diaz has been doing ok, but I’m worried that if I turn the full force of my ire to Durbin, like I want to, Diaz will hit the skids and I will be raking the wrong player over the coals.
For now I’m just laying low, waiting until 1 of the 2 proves himself beyond a reasonable doubt to be the worst player on the team, and then I’ll unleash like I did on Proctor last season.

I watched her once. Very stilted, not communicative. She’s either dating somebody, is related to somebody, or has pictures, because she most assuredly is brutal in front of a camera.
Admittedly, it’s not as if she has great content to work from (the whole concept is a shameless, reaching pander to social media, with no actual redeeming value to a baseball-centric program), but she’s a really, really bad broadcaster. The mixture of the two things makes for a foul brew.

heres what needs to happen…put Gattis in left next season, move Prado to 3rd and send francisco somewhere…he’s been good as a fill in when needed but its pretty clear he doesnt have the defense to be an every game starter for us when chipper’s gone…
