Gotta Take the Rubber Game today…Because that Series in The Louie This Weekend is Gonna be Huge!!!
“‘Statement Series” On Deck…! For the weekend
Today will be the Laugher game of the series in our favor…I’m expecting the wind will be blowing out if the winds are from the Southwest which works to our advantage
1st place !!!!!!!!! Marlins and PHILLIES on the bottom (Phillies under .500) !!!!!!!!!!
“…..Yes, I KNOW it’s early…and it’s a long season, as we all learned last year….BUT, with 19% of season done, have the best record on the NL, 1 win behind TEXAS.
I know the “half-fullers” and trolls are just waiting to pounce, but some of us felt that Wren knew what he was doing all along…..”
And have been consistant in that position all along.
TERDO needs to take a step back. The reason it isn’t being done is 3rd rounder JOE LEONARD [.254 BA - 118 AB] I think.
Stick with him a little longer to see, but yes, he does seem to be a little overmatched at AAA. I was surprised they sent him that far, I mean while he did good at High-A, he didn’t exactly have “high school numbers” as Don Sutton would say.
Stick with him a little longer to see, but yes, he does seem to be a little overmatched at AAA.
Look only at Freeman’s first 100 ABs at any level, and you would have said he was “overmatched” at every one of them.
I haven’t seen Terdoslavich play at Gwinnett, so I can’t speak knowledgeably as to whether he’s over his head or not. However, I do know that the first month at a level, good or bad, is rarely an indicator of actual ability.
Good to see Kimbrel going with the money pitch to get ahead of batters. Keep throwing the heater to get ahead in the count. Slider is nasty when he sets up hitters with his fastball. He’s going to have a huge year.
I see where Hamilton hits 4 dingers and now the bloggers (some of us) are calling him the best hitter in baseball, and want the Braves to sign him? Come on, lots of baggage with him. Very pricey too.

I’ve watched him twice in person, plus seen video of him there, he doesn’t look that great. He looks worse than REV did during his first week.
Crazy – Yeah, seems that’s the only way he gets one by the defense. Between atem balls and wall hugging blast for outs, Mac has not had such good luck, even though he’s barreling up the ball. Killing his BABIP, for sure.
Tyler needs to be out there….. I need him for OBA in one of my fantasy leagues lol. The REV needs to play everyday to work on his defense and for confidence. He doesn’t need a rest every4-5 days.
See what I’m doing?? I figure the more I pile on the better the chance Wilson has of proving me wrong by going 3-4 today which I would be just fine with!!!
I dont know why the heck is Jack Wilson starting over Pastornicky. It’s not like Wilson wil get 27 tough put outs today. How many of the 27 outs will be made by Jack Wilson and how many of the 27 Tyler wouldn’t been able to make?
Your putting in a guy there who will end rallys today and go 0-4.

Yeah, I guess so. Heck, last time he had two days-off in a row (DGANG and team day off), he came back and went 4-5 with 4 RBI…So maybe this will be OK…

Take a hard right and VEER off the blog thank you.
George – How many saw it at the end of Spring Training? Several of us, actually. Those who were called Blind Homers and worse and were roundly criticized for thinking so.
I know Pastornicky isn’t expected to be as good as Heyward and Freeman were but still I didn’t see those two being sat every 4-5 days. You’ve got to give the rookie time to get comfortable with daily at-bats. Heck, they stuck with a .204 Jordan Schafer starting everyday in 2009 for 50 games.
Frankie Wren 12:16
I do not like either one PASTORNICKY or WILSON, would perfer R FURCAL at SS. We should never have let him get away years ago. We should have paid him what he wanted, he still is a very good SS.
It’s all about giving Hudson a bit more of an edge in that he’s a ground ball pitcher and Wilson is much better defensively than Pastornicky.
And the comparison to Freema/Heyward is not all that accurate. As soon as Simmons is deemed ready, we’ll never see The Rev as a starting Brave ever again, so it’s how he does NOW and NOT what he might develop into that concerns his playing time.
@raleigh I know Bobby managed in ‘09. I wasn’t blaming this on Fredi, just questioning why it should be done/ many bloggers agree with it. In ‘09 Schafer struggled yet still started basically every day until he was sent down. He hit .204. Rev is hitting .265, almost .300 in last 10 games or so. Heyward in 2010 did well, and I don’t remember him sitting every 5 or so days. Same with Freeman. So I’m just questioning why must the REV be sat every 5 days or so when he is doing better than Schafer and hitting for average like Heyward/Freeman. He’s doing a good job in the 8 spot, I don’t understand throwing Hack Wilson in every 5 days.
Yeah, picking up Furcal would have been so equitable – 36 games played in 08, 97 played in 2010 and 87 played last year. Money in the bank, right? Unfortunately, not OUR bank.
raleighbravefan 12:30
FURCAL is 34 or 35, BTW A-GON is about that age and ca out field and hit better than PASTORNICKY and of course A-GON can out hit WILSON.
I know I’m not the only Braves fan, was wondering how long til someone would say something. It’s more because I’m the only person in my family/baseball team who is a hardcore Braves fan, everyone else follows them casually. I get called the only Braves fan by my fam/team frequently. I just decided to use that name here.
I imagine the Braves didn’t go after Furcal when he signed with the Cards because they didn’t want to pay a 33 year old injury prone short stop that much money
Jesus.. I’m normally the one that gets on people for complaining. I understand getting on Veer, b/c all he does is b itch about everything, but I don’t think it’s that big of a deal to question Fred about sitting the Rev. It’s not that big of a deal, I just question it!!
And the reason Alex was not resigned is because the team didn’t want to block either Pastornicky or Simmons by signing him for the 2 years he was looking for. They did (if I remember correctly) offer him a one year deal that he turned down (understandably, since the Brewers offered him 2)
If anything Jack Wilsons offense will cost us the game then his defense will win the game.
PATHETIC – frankiewren
There’s the tradeoff. Which is better for this team…Pastornicky’s bat or Wilson’s glove? The Braves did the smart thing by keeping Simmons in the minors to start the year, but Id expect to see him called up before or around the AllStar break.

Seems like its been quite a while since Heyward had a multi hit game. 6 hits and 8 walks over his last 10 games. 1 double, 1 triple, 2 homeruns

Hudson = groundball pitcher = plausable reason to start Jack Wilson.

I do not like either one PASTORNICKY or WILSON, would perfer R FURCAL at SS. We should never have let him get away years ago. We should have paid him what he wanted, he still is a very good SS.

Holy Hell…A day game, then an off day, then 3 blacked out games vs. the Cardinals? This is going to be a week of torture for me.

George – How old is Furcal ????? We tried to resign him…thought we HAD resigned him. He and his agent screwed the Braves. Screw him.

I have noticed a lot of players that we let leave or trade do much better after they leave us. The BRAVES hardly ever resign free agents.

That was when he signed with the Dodgers several years ago. George is complaining about him signing with the Cardinals.

It’s more of trying to keep Wilson sharp and also the fact that Huddy is pitching. Lots of groundballs and Wilson is a bit better in the field.

Horrible the guy is out for the year. Not good for the Brewcrew.

George-
And the reason Alex was not resigned is because the team didn’t want to block either Pastornicky or Simmons by signing him for the 2 years he was looking for.
