Looks like I have all the blogs to myself today, come on wake up everybody.
May 6th, 20123:53 pm
I love how Tulo is on Chipper’s side here. He knows Moyer is a fool and isn’t afraid about telling that to the press.
May 6th, 20123:57 pm
follow JJ’s game http://www.milb.com/gameday/index.jsp?gid=2012_05_06_chraaa_gwiaaa_1
Get ‘em Hoss… Keep playing with that Chip on your shoulder.
May 6th, 20124:00 pm
I’m also following JJ’s game. He’s throwing well. Encouraging.
And Freddie’s 3-run shot was nice and today we survived first two innings!
Old person fight!
May 6th, 20124:04 pm
UNBELIEVABLE 3 innings and braves give up 0 runs, GO BRAVES
May 6th, 20124:06 pm
I hope idiot fans dont put Votto in the All-Star game over Freeman
May 6th, 20124:07 pm
Hope the game is close and Chipper come in as pinch hitter made for TV
May 6th, 20124:10 pm
If Moyer wasn’t left handed he’d be selling insurance by now…it is what it is.

May 6th, 20124:19 pm
light traffic for a game to be in progress, where is everybody?
Look, at 49 Moyer can afford to be spooked, Chipper clearly had no bones here. Be nice girls and say you’re sorry LOL….
May 6th, 20124:20 pm
Jamie Moyer, I wanted to respect you with a full strength but you seem too much paranoid for me to do that!
And it’s very nice to see you in Braves section, Najeh.
May 6th, 20124:23 pm
EXCLUSIVE: I have just obtained footage of the postgame Chipper-Moyer confrontation.
May 6th, 20124:26 pm
C’mon, how about a nice dust up (fight) to alleviate the boredom of Moyer’s pitches. He sends me to sleep.
May 6th, 20124:31 pm
Jair’s line today at Triple-A game against Charlotte.
8 IP 5 Hits 2 Runs 1 BB 3 K’s on 95 pitches.
Hopefully this is a sign he’s getting back on track.
May 6th, 20124:34 pm
Heck if Moyer can still pitch Glavine could as well. IMO I bet Smoltz can still throw 93. And Madux never needed speed on his pitches………….Maybe we need to call somebody back if our starters besides Beachy cant pitch.
May 6th, 20124:36 pm
Beachy 1-hitter so far and has allowed no hits since the 1st
May 6th, 20124:38 pm
Interesting behind the scenes stuff you usually don’t here or see… Chipper really came out on top here and even got a parting shot into Moyer from the Phils end… I love it… I don’t know that I wouldn’t be trying to steal signs but it is probably a waste of time and just puts more pressure on you to try and jack out the next pitch…
May 6th, 20124:39 pm
Don’t be surprised if Colorado tries to get Freeman some years down the road… He owns that ballpark!!!
May 6th, 20124:43 pm
Freddi is half way to the Cycle has the 2 toughest out of the way in a HR and Triple
May 6th, 20124:49 pm
Talking publicly about something like stealing signs, as Moyer did, is a big “no no” in baseball. I lost alot of respect for him over this. Act like a pro Moyer, you been at it long enough to know better!!!!!!!!! And Diaz, keep your mouth shut also!!!!
GO BRAVES!! Great to see us scoring runs w/o Chip or Mac.
May 6th, 20124:50 pm
JJ will be back. He will be valuable either as trade or future starter. How about Heyward’s fielding? One of two best fielding RF.
May 6th, 20124:53 pm
If Juan Francisco keeps getting better with his eye (on balls) he will be getting paid huge as time goes, I think.
And Yeah Go Freddie now you can get a cycle in an easy way!
May 6th, 20125:03 pm
Great stuff from Chipper and the guys. Love that quote about Chipper from Matty; “no, we don’t do that.”
Love this organization. And kudos to Chipper for keeping it as honest as he can. Go Braves!
I remember Beachy at Coors last year and it wasn’t pretty.
and today it’s a BEACHY-BEAUTY at Coors, a one-hitter for six innings so far.
longtimefan, I agree with Jason’s fielding, not a lot of chance to show his arm so far this year but we all know about his throwing arm.
I think he could also handle CF job nicely if needed.
Who done what?
May 6th, 20125:05 pm
The guy was having a bad day. He had to blame somebody for his lack of talent.
May 6th, 20125:06 pm
Stealing signs?? Oh, geezzzz. Grow up. If someone is stealing your signs…CHANGE THEM!!!

Stealing signs is like kissing your sister… You have an idea what it’s all about but in the end it had just as well have been your brother! The Braves are killing the ball this year thanks to the new hitting coaches and Moyer just got his “lunch ate” yesterday and has no excuses. I really, really lost a lot of respect for him and he got served by Tulo, his own team mate! What a double whammy of a day!
According to the players quoted, most MLB teams steal signs. If that’s true, HOW CAN ANYONE POSSIBLY GET MAD ABOUT IT? If you suspect it, as claytondawg said, change your signs.
Or, just say, “Here it is. See if you can hit it.” I believe Maddux could’ve told hitters what he was about to throw them and still been pretty effective.
May 6th, 20125:25 pm
It’s not because you are old and people may know your stuff Jamie, it’s because players are stealing from you right? LOL
May 6th, 20125:28 pm
Can we get Jack Wilson in there now……Pastornickys glove scares me
Younger Than That Now
May 6th, 20125:43 pm
Moyer’s reaction is pretty ‘bush league’ IMO. As Chipper points out, I’m not convinced that there’s an advantage in having a second opinion on a guess… which is what it is, another guess. It’s almost impossible to be 100% sure that what the runner on second base sees is the pitch that’s actually coming. Hitters that guess at pitches don’t usually do well for long in MLB.
IMO, this situation further proves how the Atlanta Braves do things the right way and do it with class!
May 6th, 20125:59 pm
clayton dawg…….”if they are stealing your signs, change them”. lol clayton dawg, you never played the game did you? .If you are not sure of what you are talking about, don’t post!! That was too funny!
May 6th, 20126:12 pm
Seriously, you’re either going to get an 84 mph “fastball” or a 74 mph change-up (or something like that). How complex could Moyer’s signs be? This is just embarrassing for him.
May 6th, 20126:14 pm
Errors and Excuses Chipper needs none.
May 6th, 20126:18 pm
He’s right they wouldn’t need to steal signs off of a guy that only throws 78. Moyer completely overreacted. Chipper was always a guy (that in the steroid era) played the game the right way. I’d be pissed too if I were him.
May 6th, 20126:24 pm
Chipper shouldn’t have thrown the Lemmer and Blauser under the bus. Moyer just doesn’t like the Braves as an organization. Didn”t he veto 2 deadline trades to the Braves in the early 2000s?
May 6th, 20126:41 pm
Alzheimers setting in for Moyet, so cut him some slack. Chipper still/always the Man. HOF 2018 – we have a caravan from south Ga. going to NY that summer for Chip/ hope Mariano pitches next year so he doesn’t go in with Chipper and divert all attention to Yankees. Love this team – let’s get our starting pitching going a little better – everyone contributing – even CMartinez/ Livan/ Durbin/ Rev hitting now(Pastor Nicky) GoBraves
May 6th, 20126:43 pm
The Braves averaged 11 runs Friday & Saturday. Then 7 runs today. Only 7!!
What a bunch of sand baggers.

Chipper stealing signs and relaying to Mac: “Be ready for a 70 MPH fastball or a 70 MPH curveball, or a 70 MPH change up!”
May 6th, 20126:50 pm
Hey Jamie: You know, I don’t want to make you paranoid or anything, but every team and everyone really are out to get you.

I am truly enjoying watching every minute Chipper Jones plays this year. He is a first ballot Hall of Famer and we are so lucky he has spent his years in Atlanta. Give em hell Chipper. You da man!

May 6th, 20127:14 pm
Great story. In a couple of days the national media will probably catch up and make a big deal out Diaz conceding that most teams steal signs. MLB Commish Bud will probably have to make a statement.
May 6th, 20127:18 pm
“Talking publicly about something like stealing signs, as Moyer did, is a big “no no” in baseball.”
Actually, Moyer didn’t talk publicly about it. He kept it on the field. Chippers the one who made it public. Just sayin’…if you’ve lost respect for Moyer over this, you might try to understand the situation.
Thank God for the Rockies. If they don’t sign Moyer, FW probably would have for the bullpen. He signs every other washed up bum that is released and gives them a million or so extra.
May 6th, 20127:27 pm
I saw him in Seattle. I saw him in Phillie. Moyer is now in Colorado. When is he going to realize that he is a washed up bum. He needs to shut his mouth and go to the house for good.
blame it on the falcons or bush, where is the jessie jacksons or the alvin sharpertons guy, my babies moma, or dat b my babies daddy, hey, wear a trayvon hoody or apply for welfares, lmfao

May 6th, 20127:49 pm
@Dela Solenas……Hank Aaron is the best Brave of all time.
In fact my list of Braves all-timers goes like this
1. Hank Aaron
2. Warren Spahn
3. Eddie Mathews
4. Chipper Jones
5. John Smoltz
8. Dale Murphy
9. Phil Neikro
10. Andrew Jones

Tempest in a protective cup.
May 6th, 20128:09 pm
I lost a ton of respect for Moyer. Very happy that Tulo had Chipper’s back. I will really miss Chipper’s candor and lack of “player speak”. Hoss really tells it like it is, and it’s unusually refreshing.
May 6th, 20128:43 pm
Great job by Chipper getting a dig in on the Phillies. A generally classless bunch.
May 6th, 20128:59 pm
Moyer really needs to take his geritol and shut up. To hear that his own shortstop doesn’t have his back on this issue says plenty. But, as someone on here previously posted, Moyer never made this a public issue, he took issue on the field. Chipper made it public when reporters questioned him about it. Thing is, I don’t think Chipper wouldn’t have made it public if he wasn’t asked about it. Just comes to show how much class Chipper and the Braves have. I would be pissed as well if my integrity was put into question over something as frivilous as this…and it wasn’t true. I don’t think I would’ve have mentioned Blauser or Lemke in reference to the issue, just my opinion.
May 6th, 20129:08 pm
I don’t know…Chipper seemed a little too defensive about it. He doth protest a lot. But, not sure what the big deal is really- always thought it was standard procedure to steal signs if you could.
Bob the Blogger
I really don’t see anything wrong with stealing signs. That’s why they’re complicated. I thought it was part of the game. Players and coaches study pitchers to see if they are telegraphing pitches, then relay the info to other players. I think I would have just smiled at Moyer and let him think the hitter knew exactly was was coming next. If he’s paranoid anyway, that would really work on him.
May 6th, 20129:20 pm
Wow, Moyer really struck a chord with Chip. I can’t believe he told McCann “that’s how people get hurt”!!! Seriously, WTH?!?! That sounds like a threat to me. I hope he doesn’t get on the mound when the Rockies come to Atlanta…that would be a bad move. Moyer doesn’t even throw hard enough to bean someone.
May 6th, 20129:27 pm
DOB, was there more in the locker room that didn’t make it into the story about Blauser and Lemmer? That just seems kind of out of place. Any word on what Cox thought about stealing signs?
May 6th, 20129:52 pm
May 6th, 201210:33 pm
I am not a player, but stealing signs isn’t cheating to me, so not sure why Chipper would be so incensed by that. I DO understand him being upset about what Moyer said to McCann, but sign stealing is part of the game.
Although, I got to admit, it is funny to imagine 49 year-old Moyer throwing at 40 year-old balky knee Chipper with a 78 MPH fastball and the ensuing charging of the mound.
May 6th, 201210:44 pm
Moyer told McCann ‘that’s how guys get hurt.’ ????
What is he going to do, run over someone’s foot with his walker?
May 6th, 201211:07 pm
The thing that would happen in the tunnel is that Moyer and Jones would beat each other with their canes.
May 6th, 201211:38 pm
Was Moylan threatening to hurt McCann or Chipper with his powder-puff 78 mph fastball? Of course, somebody would steal the sign for the knock-down pitch.
May 7th, 20121:32 am
@Chopdawg 9:52 pm-He clearly meant using steroids. I guess Chipper thinks accusing somebody of stealing signs is similar to that?
Also, I can’t believe Tulo had Chipper’s back. I have no doubt that Chipper’s right in the dispute, but Tulo should have either stuck up for his teammate or said no comment. Maybe that shows that Moyer has problems in the clubhouse or something, but it can’t be good, whatever it shows.
Go Go Pilots
May 7th, 20122:36 am
If i was chipper Jones i be lookin for brush back pitch by Jamie Moyer when Rockies come callin folks….and chipper will either ignore are fight Moyer in game at the Ted.Cause if his fellow teamates do not knock down one of Rockies top player then freddi and chipper are lost lambs cryin….Look for chipper Jones be hit by jamie Moyer here when col. rockies come in for 3 game series!
May 7th, 20127:35 am
Chip if he tries to run over you with his wheelchair you hit him with your crutches dont take no crap off that nursing home candidate
May 7th, 20128:36 am
DOB, please delete those stupid “First” comments. 12 year old kids were doing that 5 years ago and even they think its stupid now.
May 7th, 20128:39 am
Lemke relaying signs? Blasphemy!!!
May 7th, 20128:43 am
I play old-man baseball in a league, most of the players are 28-48 years olds. Everyone except for our 69 year old lefty pitcher. Ex-minor leaguer who has never lifted a single weight, never run a single mile. Anyway, he’s striking out guys half his age with location, movement and changing speeds. Reminds me of Moyer, so while I have never liked Moyer, I do respect the man for what he’s been able to accomplish at his age.
May 7th, 20129:11 am
J-man, I would add Ken Oberkfell and Earl Williams (sic) before Dale Murphy to the list of greatest Braves. Murphy was not a winner, too complacent. Braves didn’t start to win until Murphy left and Justice went to right field.
May 7th, 20129:22 am
“Every pitch is 78 mph”…hilarious.
If you are not watching this season you are missing somethign special with Chipper. The last three series have been fun to see him just playing, having fun. Knowing the end is near has given him a little pep in his step.
May 7th, 20129:23 am
Agreed BC. Typing “first” is the lamest blog entry…..ever.
May 7th, 20129:33 am
Good morning Blog…. I hope this finds everyone well and happy.
May 7th, 20129:35 am
In fairness Moyer is old and senile. He doesn’t really know what’s going on anymore.
May 7th, 20129:37 am
Also, who is Moyer going to hurt? Mac could be in the dugout by the time that fastball got to him.
May 7th, 20129:52 am
How many grandchildren does Moyer have??
May 7th, 201210:11 am
Moyer lost all respect I ever had for the buffoon….
To heck with him!
Fredi Gone zalez
May 7th, 201210:17 am
@ Go go Pilots – I’m sure a brushback pitch from Moyer is an extremely scary thought!
May 7th, 201210:30 am
What a complete jackass…all the replays of this showed Chipper with his face turned to Tulouiski talking and Moyer jawing at him…until Chipper asked him WTF was going on? Its, let him bring that 78 mph #$#$#$ to Atlanta in September when we play these guys again and let’s light his senile backside up for five or six more 900 foot bombs. I think Beachy should have plunked someone yesterday for them hitting Freeman…that was intentional even Freddie questioned it after the game ….these punks in Colorado are looking for their asses this morning but they won’t find em – they’re in the Braves equipment bags headed to Chicago….Go Bravos!
May 7th, 201210:59 am
It must be tough to be such a lousy pitcher that you feel the need to farm up some excuse,…any excuse for your lackluster performance. Chipper should have gone after that ass! but, alas, too much class.
May 7th, 201211:39 am
What a jerk Moyer is. How is he going to hurt anyone? His fast ball is slow and his biceps are low.
We should beam him immediately when he visits again. What a jerk.
May 7th, 201211:43 am
This is ridicules that Chipper even has to put up with this. Really stealing signs Moyer? I’m not even gunna bother saying how Ridicules it is that any MLB team would need to steal your signs. Even the DenverPost thinks Moyer is in the wrong. Would love to read Tulo’s comments. Where did yal find them, and what did he say?
May 7th, 201212:00 pm
As usual, I’m not going to go with the lemmings I don’t know if Jones did anything or not. Neither does anyone else except Jones and he, of course, is denying it. However, Jones statements indicate to me that, although his body has matured and aged from when he was a teenager, his mind has not.
If you want to check out Moyer and jones as role models for youngsters and their respective contributions to their communities, Jones runs a very distant second to Moyer.
Now, some of you lemmings can post your irate, though prejudiced and uninformed, replies. It won’t change the truth.
May 7th, 201212:06 pm
@don…. Moyer is a whining BUM. Always has been. If things do not go his way, he cries like his 6 children.
May 7th, 201212:38 pm
Samantha, Your comments are rather strong. Can you cite any proof (that means actual facts) of your attack on Moyer or are these merely the expected Jones homerisms. Moyer is a “bum”? Tell that to all the youth who benefit from his foundation.
May 7th, 201212:53 pm
@don He his a good humanitarian off of the field. I saw him in Seattle, in Phillie.now in Colorado. If things do not go his way on the field , he whines and cries and makes excuses. That is why I say he is a BUM. He needs to retire and take care of his foundation. Then he will not be a bum. Get off the field crybaby.

Jamie, time to call it a day, go home and play with the kids.
May 7th, 20123:15 pm
Moyer has lost his mind. Oh well, Saturday was a good win for the Bravos!
May 7th, 20128:08 pm
What the hell does being a role model and a humanitarian have to do with this incident, Don? If someone calls you out and accuses you of doing something you didn’t do, you react (well, if you have a pair) – what did you expect Jones to do, walk over, shake his hand and apologize for doing nothing? Eff that…

He was just trying to get in Chipper’s head. There was an article in the rag paper Seattle Weekly last week and it mentions how he will try to do these things from time to time. Bottom line, he couldn’t throw a baseball through tissue paper so he must protect the location of those weak pitches(though in this instance), I suspect that it was more a measure of respect to try and get the best of Chipper some otherway. Plus is there really a rule in the book about stealing signs etc., or is that just a baseball genbtlemans agreement that you won’t do it? Enough has been said about it, Chipper should go on and have a great year and forget about it until the Braves put the Rockies out in the playoffs in Oct.
