Clutch hitting has gone into a ditch? I bet you wish you could take this article back.
You do understand that the blog in question was based on things that HAD ALREADY HAPPENED. Not a stat or sentence of DOB’s article wasn’t accurate at the time of its posting.
Just for chuckles, I actually did go back to see when the first “BALLGAME!” was uttered: 7:50PM.
Might have been just the tiniest bit premature. And no, I did not count how many other “BALLGAME!” posts were placed throughout the evening…I would have been laughing too hard to finish that chore, anyway.
You are obviously not aware of the reverse blog curse. DOB posts a blog like this and the curse takes effect 99 times out of 100. The boys go out and play hard and win and do just the opposite of what DOB has written about.
Man, what an epic game to be at last night! Almost left to make it home for some shut eye since we were down to Doc. Best game I can remember since when Brooksey hit the Grand Slam and we came back from an 8 run deficit.
clutch hitting, if its a skill is more about NOT reacting to the situation than it is reacting to the situation. so being a good hitter is a requirement first, obviously. staying the same hitter in a big spot is the skill, and yes, some player do it better, or more often than others.
Might have been just the tiniest bit premature. And no, I did not count how many other “BALLGAME!” posts were placed throughout the evening
I am going to shamefully admit that I had pretty much “ballgame”d it in my mind after they took a 6-0 lead. Halladay – no chance I thought. Couldnt believe what happened after that – still cant. All I can say is, I love sports!!
DAP, mainly just not over reacting and being overly impatient. Freeman can be a little overly aggressive in those situations. Sometimes they just have to remember that the pitcher is the one that is in trouble.
Thoughts for the front office . 1, Call the left coast, ask LOU PINNELLA if he would be interested. 2, A lot of baseball people say the guy in our bullpen EDDIE PEREZ will be a good MGR. 3, keep FREDI just send him to AAA ball, bring G-BRAVES MGR up the finish the season with the big club. That way they would not be throwing FREDI out in the cold. FIRE FREDI.
CraZy I always feel cheated when I get a box of donuts… Shouldn’t the donut holes come with the donuts?
im sorry to be the one to tell you, but “donut holes” are not made from leftover dough out of the middle of a donut. the name misleads lots of people on how both donuts and donut holes are made. im sorry.
Don’t feel bad, man. I ballgamed it the Braves’ way when Heap hit the slam. Didn’t think there was any way the Phightens could get off the mat, after that.
im sorry to be the one to tell you, but “donut holes” are not made from leftover dough out of the middle of a donut. the name misleads lots of people on how both donuts and donut holes are made. im sorry.
Did you have to crush the man like that? Not cool, DAP.
If they don’t come from the donut center, then what happens to that dough? Hmmmmmm? Where does it go? They don’t magically make dough that’s round and has a hole in the middle.
David O’Brien @ajcbraves
Fredi said Minor and Beachy wouldn’t throw scheduled bullpens today and would be available in the pen if needed. Vent, Med, Durb need rest
Durbin needs rest? Why does he need rest? He is supposed to eat innings.
Medlen needs rest? because he worked 1 inning yesterday?
Fredi might be resting the bullpen too much. We know Delgado will last 4 innings maximum unless ofcourse he takes one for the team and pitches till the 6th by giving up 9 runs.
They don’t magically make dough that’s round and has a hole in the middle.
I dont think they make a full circle and punch out the middle part. I thought the dough is extruded into a sausage like shape and then smaller pieces are made into a nut-shape.
I think if Delgado flat out stinks today then we should just option him to the Minors. Replace him with Livan or Medlen. Can’t have a guy continue to suck every 5th day. I think this is a make it or break it game for Delgado.
It’s amazing. I’m sitting here reading the doughnut discussion and glance to the right side of the blog and what do I see? A Stainmaster carpet ad with a little girl holding a chocolate covered doughnut.

But no one bothers looking at the evidence because it would ruin the belief and the narrative that some major leaguers are drastically more clutch than others. That’s the most annoying part of all this. Not that there are people that believe certain major league players can’t handle pressure but that no one bothers to figure out if it’s actually true because they don’t want to ruin their own beliefs and their own myths about some players being able to ride in on their stallions to rescue their team from the clutches of defeat because their mental state is drastically different from other major leaguers.
