This was one of the most intense games I’ve ever watched as a Braves fan. It was so great to see the offense come back from a seemingly insurmountable deficit and keep tacking on runs. With that kind of confidence we can do really well this season. I love that we are getting production from the entire lineup as well.

PS – Way to go DOB on getting these game recaps up so quickly. Also love the in-game twitter feed. Really helps when I’m at work and can’t watch on MLB.TV.

1st time checking in all season. what a game. i read some of the cmmts from tuesday’s lost. why the braves(fans/players/freddy) are scared of the 2012 phillies is beyond me.

1.this edition of the phils has a lot of problems. they remind of me of the 2007 mets. old, mentally fragile(hang over from 2011) and younger teams are gaining ground on them fast.

2. the phils have better starting pitching than those mets. but that’s it. no reliable bp to speak of outside papelbon. “phillies still have a good lineup?” that’s wayyyyyyy off. so far bunch of .220 single hitters. howard/utley coming back healthy is pure fantasy. thome over ibanez?? i thought lidge was a more sensible 7th inng slot over bastardo/stutes/jose cont.

3. wild game. but bottom line is the phillies blew a 4 run 8th inning lead. i give credit to the braves for the rally, but jose cont and the other guy that pitched in 8th are clowns.

4. still can’t figure out braves bp struggles vs the phillies. what ’s that about?

5.braves still have potential rotation issues down the road, but right now they are better than the phillies. THEY JUST DON’T KNOW IT YET.

Anyone other than me and a 14 yr old, far wiser than his years, wonder why larry wasn’t pinch run for late in the game when he was on 2nd? he couldn’t score from 2nd on an inside the park home run!!!!

Well, that was one for the books! Glad we came out on top in such dramatic fashion, BUT……giving up 13 runs makes me a bit nervous. What happened to our pitchers? You can’t expect to score 15 runs every night….or give up 13 and win.

That 1985 game on the 4th of July is the only game wierder than last night’s. Rick Camp, one of the all time worst hitting pitchers in history, hit a game tying homer on an 0-2 pitch in the last of the 18th, and then proceeded to give up three runs the next inning. The Braves then loaded the bases in the last of the 19th and Camp came to bat again and struck out. The few remaining fans were then treated to a 4:00AM fireworks show since the long game also had several rain delays. Last night came close.

Gave up at the end of the 10th and went to bed. For some reason, got up at 11:10 or so to check the IPhone for the final score… saw that Chipper walked off and kicked myself for not having the patience to wait a few more minutes. . .

I will gladly EAT CROW . . . this morning anyway. The braves put on a show last night that, in my opinion, may never be equaled. Not by the any team. I can’t remember, ever, enjoying a game as much as I did last night. Great game, guys. Thanks for the thrill!

That may have been the most exciting and rewarding game I’ve ever been to. So glad I stayed until the end, unlike the thousands who scurried out when the Braves got down 12-8 late.

And for what it’s worth (not much, I know) I HEREBY TAKE BACK EVERY BAD THING I EVER SAID ABOUT CHIPPER JONES. At the end of the day, he is simply one of the best baseball players I have ever seen. He’s gonna be missed around here when he’s gone.

LOL at all the folks who “kept the faith” last night, as if that was the reason we won.

You saw Mac’s quote. This kind of thing almost never happens. At least be honest about it guys.

We were beaten, we rose from the ground and won anyway. It’s great but it is, in fact, rare.

I am worried that Chip,s back was slapped too hard during the celebration. He may now have an intercontinental bruise which McCann had last week.
Anyway, I think we now know for sure that we are chasing the Phillies as expected.

My TV was taken over by my wife who was watching something else ( who runs this house ? not me).
So I was reduced to watching gametracker on AJC. How often do I do that ? Never. That game was that great.

Wow! One of the best baseball games I have seen in my 53 years. The highs and lows were like a roller coaster and it couldn’t have ended any sweeter.
That being said, after such a great game, there are still those that can find fault. Do you people enjoy your misery so much that you cannot just enjoy the moment? Enjoy the positives, cast your negativity aside (at least for the moment), and just absorb a thoroughly entertaining game that YOUR team won!

If there were any doubts about whether or not Chipper will be a first ballot Hall of Famer, he is certainly putting them away now. As I said last week, I don’t think I’ve ever seen a major league ballplayer have as much fun playing the game as Chipper is right now, and I don’t think I’ve ever enjoyed watching a major league ballplayer play the game as much as I am right now. At the risk of sounding extraordinarily sappy, I don’t want this season to end because I’m going to miss my favorite ballplayer so much.

Surprised by 2 things last night ….
Why no Papelbaum in 11th?
Why when Uggla had touched home did team let chipper finish running bases instead of mobbing him between 1st and 3rd like they did Conrad two/three years ago for his walkoff

Great game. Chipper, once again, comes through. Maybe the Chipper bashers will be quiet for at least a day. Dramatic victory!

Now let’s win this series against the Fills and purge those demons from September 2011 forever!

Great comeback and win. My thoughts are that this was the most important win of the season for the Braves in that they haven’t fared well against them from the end of last season until last night. Philly is the team to beat and the Braves need that confidence against them. Even if we lose Thursday at least they didn’t sweep us. Go Braves!

^5 Braves!! Man….I was following the gamecast on my droid from MariannaFlorida. Braves were getting their butts kicked. DocHoliday was going strong. Back n forth back in forth. When LarryWayneChipperJones was @ the plate in overtime I thought….wow sure would be nice for him to hit a walk-off homer. Sure enough he did. TOTALLY AWESOME!!

Great win but I remember one even more improbable. Anyone else remember the game against Boston when they were down 7-0 (or was it 8-0) in the bottom of the 9th and came back and won. Don’t remember the year but Flash Gordon was their closer so it was probably about 2000 or so

Next time I go to a game, this is how I want it to be. Two of the greatest pitchers of today facing off, yet 12 runs came across the plate while the starters were in, 8 of those belonging to the Doc, Roy Halladay. It seems like every time I go, the Braves beat the visiting team by about 4 or 5 runs. It’s not that I don’t like that, but a little drama like this every once in a while is good. I just hope the Braves keep it up this season and win the division instead of the wild card.

[...] one Wednesday night over the Philadelphia Phillies.  The game saw a Brian McCann grand slam and a Chipper Jones 2-run walk-off home run.  Unfortunately, they lost the series, getting shut out by Joe Blanton yesterday afternoon.  And [...]
