minor has good stuff just didnt locate tonight….but something is off with mccann….he just doesnt look right
The in game blog keeps getting better………just a bunch of fuss.
Chris is the poster child for all the reasons most people can’t emotionally handle sports. Just a sad case. I played baseball!!! lol
Okay, just to be clear, the throw was maybe six inches from perfect. This is why no one takes the constant Heap basher’s seriously, here.
April 30th, 20129:04 pm
I have my doubts that Mc Cann is healthy or conditioned sufficiently enough to play at the level he played at as recently as a year ago.
He looks permaturely washed up.
April 30th, 20129:05 pm
DURBIN YOU SUCK
Is Gattis ready?
Durbin strikes again.
I suppose that is totally Mac’s fault too
People wake up
McCann has been shyty since July. Is this the guy you all want the braves to build their future around for 100 mil that the Sox are gonna give him?
Catching in the Atlanta heat over the age of thirty not good for a overweight guy
Who seems to be regressing and not making adjustments at the plate
As I type this Mac fucs up again. Fat and can’t move.
Trade him get something for him. He is not a 4 hole hitter at all.
slip slidding away slip slidding away
Just damn lazy by McCann. There’s his daily defensive mistake.
This team is losing and that is not good. Losing to the Pirates—Worse than bad.
This BP is of zilch relief either. Gas Can Durbin is up to his old tricks again and he deserves to be Booed.
I was starting to warm up to Durbin. Not so much now.
April 30th, 20129:06 pm
Durbin for example….. if you are a pitcher who lacks confidence and gettting some tough breaks, you want to go to Atlanta because they will show you extreme amounts of patience. If you are a pitcher who just sucks and you are trying to hang on, you want to go to Atlanta because they show extreme patience and will let you hang around much longer than any team should and draw a paycheck.
Turn the glove facing downward, move the overweight body in front of the ball….
That’s a lazy play on mac’s part. Period.
The Braves allowed the Pirates to score a season high 6 runs tonight (and counting)… That’s saying a LOT.
A series split against the Juggernaut Pittsburg Pirates.
April 30th, 20129:07 pm
I think it has something to do with our sorry pitching tonight
The Braves are not forking over a humdred mil for anyone Chris, and that is one time I will say that in this case, (Mc Cann), Liberty Media will be a blessing not keeping this BUMB.
April 30th, 20129:08 pm
the gas can returns
Durbin just sucks…it’s really that simple.
Durbin needs to be DFA’ed.
Thanks Durbin you scrub
All that talk about Durbin having righted the ship… He just sank again.
I have a bad feeling people: i feel a losing streak is coming
starting with this garbage game….
Is the way 16 has played tonight worth the 13 mil option.
Roll overs, sinkers to second base, and can’t block balls.
im willing to live with mccann’s “average” defense when he’s hitting….but when he’s not even hitting then he’s just mediocre player
April 30th, 20129:09 pm
Got the feeling of a mailed in game. But we won on a Sunday!
Minor regresses – again. Son, if you are going to give ST ultimatums, you better pitch like you got some sense!!!
Look, i like mac. A lot.
Something isn’t quite right with him though.
Not getting in front of that ball? Be objective, guys.
Yet another run bump this
April 30th, 20129:10 pm
Make that 8.
oh yes we gitting right back in it ain’t we.
make that 9
Phillies in town tomorrow gotta get em while they don’t have utley Howard and lee
In Durbin’s defense, they’ve been riding his tail as of late. Again, starters are NOT carrying their own weight.
The Durbin experiment should end soon. This game was still in reach before entered.
Seriously trying not to be negative but is it me or does anyone else wonder why the Braves are paying 1 mil to Durbin to mop up and suck rather than paying the league minimum to someone else to mop up and suck?
April 30th, 20129:11 pm
Chris….no one here takes anything you say seriously. You’re a compete moron, who overreacts to everything. Just shut up already.
Don’t you think that is a little mean Murph?
The lady could be for real.
So much for us sweeping the Pirates, and so much for Minor being such a great pitcher, got pounded by the worst offensive team in baseball by a lot .
Phils will probably come in and kick their butts. Hamels is better than anybody on the Braves and he is their number 3.
What is a BUMB?
Wish they’d quit zooming in on Hurdle’s ugly red face and that damn wad of gum he’s getting off on. GOD!
1ST PLACE UNDESERVED
April 30th, 20129:12 pm
the braves dont deserve the 1st place if they play like a losers vs garbage team….
and why all crap words to durbin??? the game was over before durbin coming
if Minor pitched good game Durbin never pitched in this game …. simple…..
Cap: Where's My Tip
gotta give my props to the Pirates tonight, in their first breakout game of the year … they’re beating the snot of the Braves so far
im telling you tomorrow there will be a story about how mccann’s “minor” injury isnt minor at all and its the reason he has looked like crap for the last week.
So much for us sweeping the Pirates,
Um, this was not an option as of Saturday…
So we got routed….
New game tomorrow!
April 30th, 20129:13 pm
Well….we all knew Fredi was going to lose at least one game single-handedly. You can blame McCann and Durbin all you want but Minor should have been gone last inning and we possibly still have a one run game against one of the worst hitting teams in baseball. I would have liked to have watched that game. Thanks Fredi!
No sole possession for us
Atta baby skeee
Heavy hinske, have a game, big man!
April 30th, 20129:14 pm
McDonald got stiff sitting so long between innings.
hey a grand slam and a three run homer were back in it
Well it looks like our goofball manager is trying to blow any chance of a division pennant this year like he did last year. He had a man crush on Scott proctor last year and now he is doing it again with gas can Durbin
“no one here takes anything you say seriously”
it’s really not hard to just ignore him and just let him talk to himself
April 30th, 2012
So much for us sweeping the Pirates,
April 30th, 20129:15 pm
no but it was sure talked about a lot b4 the series started and was offed today as an example of how far wrong that was
April 30th, 20129:16 pm
Look, it’s doesn’t matter who’s fault it was at 2nd… mccann’s throw or uggla’s drops. the fact remains the play wasn’t made.
Behind the plate is all mccann. It used to be that everyone knew he wasn’t the best defensive catcher, but his bat more than made up for it.
Not so much anymore. His defensive has gotten worse and so has his bat.
His technique is horrible.
You responding is enough for me.
“im telling you tomorrow there will be a story about how mccann’s “minor” ”
I’m still of the opinion that there was no need to bring him back for this series. I would have liked them to just give him the rest of the series off, let Ross do his thing, and then have Mac come back for the Philly series
wow have none of these guys seen a curveball….i mean how about swinging at one
April 30th, 20129:17 pm
im clint hurdle’s lover and i gift this game for our big love! a valentin day’s present
How many breaking balls are these guys going to bail on?? It’s like they’ve never seen a curve ball before.
them phils will look like a different team tomorrow.
sorry….defense not defensive.
yeah you are incredibly stupid if you can’t understand the intent, and you shouldn’t be calling anybody stupid phil with your constant whining about Brian and his weight and all the other negative crap you bless us with
April 30th, 20129:18 pm
Our team budget is both a burden and a Godsend. I wish we could afford some really good offensive pieces, but on the other side, I pray that they don’t shower McCann with anything resembling bigtime money. That would be a huge mistake. We should wave bye bye to Mac after next year when Bethancourt is ready to be a real catcher in this league.
Why did Fredi run Minor out for another inning when he was already at 99 pitches? Once he walked the first batter, it set up the inning for the middle of the order.
It frustrates me that this game was winnable before Gonzalez brought in Durbin. Durbin has no business pitching in a major league game.
Flabsisco goes down with a mighty swing!
April 30th, 20129:19 pm
Barajas knows how to block balls. He should teach fat Mac
I have to admit…I wasn’t expecting this. The worst offensive team in the NL vs. Minor. I was expecting an easy win tonight. But, like they say, that’s why you play the games I guess. Of course Durbin sucks…sheesh, just look at his CAREER stas: 5.12 ERA, 1.52 WHIP, and xFIP of 4.76. He was awful, is awful, and will always be awful.
Chris….what is enough for you? That I called you a moron? That everyone here thinks you’re an uninformed, loser?
I bet we lose at least 2of 3 to the Phils. We can’t beat them.
Yes we can do without McCann
April 30th, 20129:20 pm
That was a series of weak at bats in that inning, but McDonald usually dominates the Braves.
April 30th, 20129:21 pm
wow McDonald looking good. NOT braves are just looking like old braves
@Bat Masterson…re: 8:41 post//// schrewd and calculating move there Bat–how far do you go back in following “West Indies Pirates?” I just know the baseball carried quite well there and “Teach” was a big hitter—a playa, if you will.
I love how the Braves get behind and try to hit 7-run homers.
April 30th, 20129:22 pm
Mac’s defense drives me crazy, but let’s not pretend he sucks. The guy is the best offensive catcher in the game…his numbers will be there at the end of the year.
You mean “get them going”, right?
That i could see them doing. But beating them when they should? NO.
Durbin is what he has been for most of his career, a mediocre reliever who can give you some good outings at times but is not to be relied on for much consistency
April 30th, 2012
what are you talking about, you doof?
P B Orr
I’m gratified to see some objective knowledge displayed about McCann. That play behind the plate was just disgusting. I’d take Marv Throneberry if he’d get in front of the ball. That’s just one of those things you learn on the first day – get in front of the ball, keep it in front of you. If you’re getting millions to catch, at least move a few feet out of gratitude.
I think you’ve got to get McCann out of the #4 hole. I would go Bourn, Prado, Heyward, Freeman, Uggla, Chipper, McCann, Pastor. (I think Heyward is streaky and a 270 hitter, but he can make things happen on the bases and will get more walks batting third, rather than 7th.
April 30th, 20129:23 pm
JasoninFL . How do we get dumb*ss fredi to see that Durban sux!
I’m not piling on Mac. He’s been a great Brave and can’t be expected to put this team on his back and carry them to the playoffs. I do believe he should be treated with respect and sent on his way at the end of this contract.
Can anyone imagine paying him the 15 plus mil per year he will command?
Let the Red Sox or Yankees pay him. Braves need to be looking at a catcher like Yadier who can get the best out of the pitching staff. Let other position players worry about carrying the offensive load.
“We cannot be held to under 4 runs. Our offense is too potent now.
We win tonight 6-5″–ray k
–hey, we’ll get us a pair of 6′5″ waitresses at Hooters tonight, buddy!
I think McCann is a good player. Not a great player. His value is and will be decreasing. A short cheap contract is a valid idea but not long term.
He is a good guy and everyone likes him but not for big dollars or years.
Baseball decision has to be made. He is going down hill and should be hitting 7th
i really have loved mcann while he’s been but wiht his body and defensive skills…he’s headed for a career in the AL as dh and a spot fielder. there is a reason the team hasnt been falling over themselves to get an extension done
April 30th, 20129:24 pm
What an embarrasment. 9 runs to the Pirates.
im tired about nobody pitchers throwing a good games vs the braves….who is this skinny panter???
April 30th, 20129:25 pm
there is a reason the team hasnt been falling over themselves to get an extension done
Mainly because he is under team control through next season
Ric Flair to Right
Two huge concerns:
1. The glarring pattern heyward has….he struggles then outta the blue he’s been hurt or hiding an injury.
2. B-mac has been down right awfull since july of 2011…to the tune of an 202 avg and an 700 OPS
As big of fan of Mccann you are and I’m one of them, he looks like a guy who has gotten old quick
“them phils will look like a different team tomorrow”
I think they’ll look like the same team but from the way it’s shaping up, when the series is over … there won’t have been many runs scored between the two teams (and whether it’s 1-0 wins or 3-2 wins, all the Braves need is, at best, take 2-3 and win the series)
Gimpah & McError
SB: Walker (1, 2nd base off Minor/McCann).
PB: McCann (2).
Looks like the only way McCann is making the all star team this year is with a wild card, eh? What are you waiting for? Sign that .232 hitter up for 5/100!
One of the earliest players known for his steals.
Durbin is not mediocre. He is a below average ML reliever that we have a million to instead of letting one of the young guys have a chance. Of course, if Viz doesn’t blow out his elbow, Durbin isn’t here anyway. But still, we have guys in the minors that can outperform Durbin’s career stats. On such a tight budget, I would think that million would come in handy at the tread deadline.
We talk baseball, other sports, music, movies, BBQ and whatever (except politics or religion)
