April 29th, 20121:26 pm
great song DOB- although my favs are There She Goes & Johnny was a Good Man, classic stuff
April 29th, 20121:29 pm
still not a fan w/ mac at cleanup, especially coming off a minor injury. move freeman or heyward there, no shift issues for them!
April 29th, 20121:30 pm
I think the bats go off today. Everyone is pumped that Huddy is back. Braves win big.
April 29th, 20121:31 pm
Welcome back, Huddy!
April 29th, 20121:32 pm
must be a mistake, Uggla caint really have been that good, we all know he is a worthless bum
April 29th, 20121:35 pm
Hmm, surprised to see Mac in there today. Hope he’s okay.
Welcome back, Huddeeeee!
April 29th, 20121:39 pm
Get somebody up Fredi.
thats not a good thing
April 29th, 20121:41 pm
Hudson strikes out Garrett Jones for 2nd out, it’s 1700th strikeout for Braves veteran
April 29th, 20121:42 pm
An acceptable beginning…
wat to regroup Huddy
April 29th, 20121:44 pm
Nice to see Huddy back on the mound
Phil in GA
April 29th, 20121:45 pm
Anybody got a radio link for out-of-staters?
Thank you, DOB…
Chipper should be hitting third, not the strikeout king clown Freddie
To all my Bourn haterz….TOLD y’all he’d be aight!
April 29th, 20121:46 pm
Tsk, no eee’s for you.
April 29th, 20121:47 pm
Hudson’s whop is terrible…
But better than Prado’s grounding into double play’s numbers…
Here;s a thought, and stop me before I start to sound like a broken record, but how ’bout the National League’s highest scoring team put up some runs for their ace pitcher making his first start of the season coming back from back surgery.
You know, might be nice.
How about give the guy a little room to work with so he doesn’t have to throw a shut out to get a win.
Again, just a thought.
Not good situational hitting Marteen…..c’mon. You know this!
Whip, not whop….
April 29th, 20121:48 pm
Why is Bourn not running? We did the same thing last night. Bourn leadoff single and then a Prado double play.
April 29th, 20121:49 pm
5 is just to inconsistent. Needs to hit down in the lineup
Second double play in a row for Prado. Freddy needs to have him take a few pitches and let MB run. I know Prado does not like him on base “dancing”, but come on. Double plays last year and this year do not cut it.
At least FF looks more patient today…
Not that it did any good whatsoever…sigh.
I would have bunted.
April 29th, 20121:50 pm
Go get ‘em, Timmy.
April 29th, 20121:52 pm
Alvarez leadoff single in #Pirates 2nd; that’s twice in 2 days that Pastornicky has mistimed a leap on attempted catch…
Hudson threw 12 pitches (8 strikes) in 1st inning, faced 5 batters…
What the hell is Rev doing out there? Can’t see it? Bull. Stupid excuses. Sick of it.
Catch the dang ball.
Oh my God. Come on.
Catch that s#@%.
April 29th, 20121:53 pm
Seems like a fair amount of players have issues picking up the ball at Turner Field…
April 29th, 20121:54 pm
Mitchell pretending like he really wants a Braves player to do well……
time to chop
mmmmmm i dont like grounds into DP ….. time to drop prado to 7th spot in the lineup and put Heyward in 2nd spot…..
at least Heyward is faster than Prado sure he can beat the throw and avoid the double play …..
April 29th, 20121:55 pm
Pastornicky missed the same ball in yesterday’s game. Defense 101 – catch the ball in the air.
McFann :Ô: :Ô:
April 29th, 20121:56 pm
Sopheeee Hmm, surprised to see Mac in there today. Hope he’s okay.
Yeah, me, too!
April 29th, 20121:57 pm
Huddy looking a little rough around the edges…
Not a fan of the D from TP.
Make the damn play. Get one out at least.
That two balls this inning that I’m sure Simmons gets to.
April 29th, 20121:58 pm
Come on, tyler. His instincts with the glove are a little suspect
well thank goodness that we won the first game anyways…
VS RHP : BOURN,HEYWARD,C JONES, MCCANN,UGGLA,FREEMAN,PRADO,PASTORNICKY
VS LHP: BOURN, PRADO,C JONES , UGGLA , MCCANN,FREEMAN,PRADO,PASTORNICKY
Huddy on the mound always makes me feel more comfortable.. reliable. Rev needs new sun glasses or something.. maybe new cleats.
April 29th, 20121:59 pm
Come on Huddy, one more out. Let’s go!
It would not surprise me to see Heyward lead the team in stolen bases at the end of the season.
post surgery Huddy throws harder than “healthy” JJ.
I agree, at least we can’t get swept
April 29th, 20122:00 pm
We do need strong D up the middle. We have it with Bourn. Not so much so far from The Rev. What happens if Simmons tears it up in AA?
Again, Bourn never tries to steal early in the count wnen Prado is hitting, and the Braves never employ the hikt an run (Last night h 3-2 pitch and Prado was just trying to hit the ball where pitched.)
April 29th, 20122:01 pm
Dudes and dudettes…we are NOT losing this game.
Having a little rust is to be expected
damn ,,,the pirates have bases loaded…. :S
damn hudson get out of the jam…..
Don’t wanna any ball hit on the left side of the infield. Absolutely no range over there.
Pastor Tylernicky is just the opposite of what I said he would be at the start of the season. I told someone he would be strong on defense and weak on offense. Lately with his hitting come around he is acceptable on offense and very weak on defense. First time I saw him thought he would be a better 2nd baseman, or with some more weight a 3rd baseman. Was not a fan of Gonzalez but he got to balls last year than TP is not coming close to. He is slow, no range. Has not impressed me at all in the field.
April 29th, 20122:02 pm
Right now, that’s not a concern because Simmons has not been hitting much, although he seems to be playing better recently. I don’t see the Braves rushing him though
DOB – wow! Thanks for all the stats and info-laden bloggage.
I’m ready to see Huddy back to work. Let’s see how he works out of this bases loaded jam.
April 29th, 20122:03 pm
not looking good so far Huddy
Huddy’s not sharp and his defense isn’t helping him. Another defensive gem by Mac.
April 29th, 20122:04 pm
And this is what I was afraid we were gonna see today from Hudson. That and poor defense from shortstop and another ball getting by McCann is a bad problem to have.
Nice. Nobody comments on Ross’s mistakes yesterday, but as soon as Mac is back in…
The way we are hitting again, that hurts
Ok, so we are going to get our butts kicked. Losing a series to the Pirates at home is NEVER a good thing. Ever.
Should be 1st and 3rd. Why does Mac have trouble with balls coming home? Bizarre.
Ah, yes, Blog gonna implode over BMac’s missing the ball, even though the run woulda scored anyway and y’all were nowhere to be found when that one got away last night? (ITS)
April 29th, 20122:05 pm
We will score at least 5 today. Not worried.
So you’ve written off tomorrow too?
Rev has plenty of range. Line drives appear to be a problem for some reason.
bad news : pirates 2-0 braves after one and half inning……
why walked rookie presley? damn
April 29th, 20122:06 pm
Did the error even cost us? Would the runner have been out? The runners who moved up didn’t score…
Let Wilson play when Huddy pitches.
according to gameday in one inning Correia threw 6 different types of pitches
April 29th, 20122:07 pm
CAB, nope…just too dumb to realize it is a 4 game series!
No it did not cost us
Maybe we start jack at SS on days when Huddy pitches. Too many opportunities for failure on those ground balls.
I stand corrected by the way. We’re only the second highest scoring team in the National League.
I guess I should alter my expectations a little.
Maybe a run or two would be nice.
Then why complain about the error?
The Bucs “want” this.
Not dumb! Wrap around series are odd…
April 29th, 20122:08 pm
We do need to do something about Prado batting 2nd with Bourn batting leadoff. It doesn’t seem to be a good combo.
Be glad when Paster has 3-5 years under his belt. Defensively, he’s a way below average major league SS. He’ll get better with age and experience, but right now watching him makes me long for…. Gonzo or just about anyone other than Paster.
Nobody talked about Ross’ mistake because it was a rarity. Mac is good for a defensive blunder once a day.
April 29th, 20122:09 pm
I would love to see the bats break out and score about 10.
DOWN ON THE FARM
G.Men pluck the Mud Hens 8-3 yesterday.
1B ERNIE MEJIA [.269 BA] 2-4, 1 R, 1 HR , 2 RBI , 2 BB. ERNIE’s right on schedule. Excels early on, then has a swoon, followed by a slow recovery at the plate over the course of the balance of the season to finish in the .290-.310 BA area with good power numbers and high RBI’s……
3B JOE TERDOSLAVICH [.233 BA] 2-4, 2 R, 1 HR , 2 RBI , 1 BB. Bombs one while raising his BA 33 points after touching the mendoza-line. He’s made an adjustment at the plate. To any opposing pitcher……TAG, you’re it!
2B JOSH WILSON [.260 BA] 1-4, 1 SO. Slowly raising his BA.
C JOSE YEPEZ [.258 BA] 1-2, 1 R, 1 RBI , 2 BB.
CF ‘Georgie’ CONSTANZA [.311 BA] 1-5, 1 R.
RF STEFAN GARTRELL [.158 BA] 1-4, 1 R, 1 2B , 2 RBI .
RHSP TOOD REDMOND [W 2-2, 3.08 ERA] 6.0 IP, 6 H, 3 R/ER, 2 BB, 7 SO
LHRP ERIC CORDIER [4.66 ERA] 2.0 IP, spotless, 2 SO. Nice!
RHRP JASON RICE [1.80 ERA] 1.0 IP, 1 H, zeros,
April 29th, 20122:10 pm
Nice AB Brian! Never seen Mac beat it I to the shift. He’ll be lucky to hit 250 this year
…and please STOP batting Mac cleanup!
April 29th, 20122:11 pm
the real solution for the braves is trade for RH POWER HITTER 3B or LF or sign a 3B or LF
Nice hit, Dan!
Uggla on fire.
If we had a short stop Pitt don’t score those two runs, Pastor missed two balls that inning he should have had.
Come on, Battle Axe!
We talk baseball, other sports, music, movies, BBQ and whatever (except politics or religion)
