That’s it for me. I’m ready to go to sleep and I am bored. Great baaseball weekend – lots of positives for our guys. See y’all for the game tomorrow nght.
April 15th, 20129:05 pm
The ump threw his hands up on that triple play, and it looked like he stopped play. That was pretty cheap.
April 15th, 20129:08 pm
Does anyone know what happened with Robert Fish? — Snotboogie
On 15-day DL with elbow tendinitis
April 15th, 20129:09 pm
If Frank Wren paid $1 million to Chad Durbin, Wren is further displaying his incompetence. I will bet anything that the kid they sent down would be doing a much better job than Durbin.
McFann :Ô: :Ô:
April 15th, 20129:12 pm
Brandon Beachy On Brian McCann helping him through jams: “He’s always great at getting me through those situations. I come out there and for whatever reason there’s just a batter where it just doesn’t feel right, I’m off, and he’ll come say something or sometimes a little hand gesture or something will help me to get back to where I need to be. It’s big to have him back there.”
Love it. Would prolly be a good idea to sign that guy long-term…
April 15th, 20129:19 pm
its good that he can at least do sumthang well
April 15th, 20129:20 pm
DOB if you are on I need a big favor
April 15th, 20129:23 pm
I know…I guess that’s how come he’s hung around the Bigs for 8 seasons…
April 15th, 20129:24 pm
prolly has pics of McQuirk being quirky…
April 15th, 20129:27 pm
So quiet when we win.
April 15th, 20129:48 pm
i agree so nice to seee a string of wins after a slow start wjat a diffence heyward is making already
April 15th, 20129:50 pm
How many more starts does JJ get before he becomes the odd man out when Hudson returns?
April 15th, 20129:51 pm
what do you think they can do with JJ besides use him?
April 15th, 20129:52 pm
I understand why the braves signed both durbin and Livan when they could have at least seen if mike gonzalez might have come back… He’s still unsigned. He
pitched in a horrendous ball park these past two years.
April 15th, 20129:53 pm
Don’t let your gaurd down
IM serios here. Havee you heard anything about a Marlon Byrd trade?
April 15th, 20129:56 pm
why would they trade for byrd now?and how would they pay him?
April 15th, 201210:00 pm
I dont know Nolie but I read an article yesterday that the cubs were trying to trade him and braves were interested. I didnt hear any more
April 15th, 201210:01 pm
nolie, I dunno if it’s a function of velocity, location, or tipping off his pitches. If it’s the latter two, then he may be better served by logging some Gwinnett time rather than getting body slammed on every start.
If this continues, one has to believe that he is in crisis mode, as he usually starts a season well.
Maybee we could trade Livan and Durbin for Bryd……and make him the mop man.
April 15th, 201210:02 pm
has he got options left?
April 15th, 201210:03 pm
what was the actual date on that article Samantha?
April 15th, 201210:06 pm
I was dated March 2012
April 15th, 201210:07 pm
they were a bit interested back then, very unlikely now
April 15th, 201210:09 pm
how was the game today…didnt even get to watch
April 15th, 201210:13 pm
I enjoyed very much for my first game. I will definitely go back
tiger – a 7-1 lead going into the 9th? – typical boring win…
April 15th, 201210:14 pm
Durbin threw an inning of BP in the top of the ninth and the Braves still won, so mostly pretty good
very good game tiger, early lead, Beachy done real good, Chipper bopped an early 3 run homer, even got a hit by Ski with the bases loaded. Durbin gave up 3 in the ninth but we had plenty of lead
April 15th, 201210:16 pm
Freddie & Tyler each still looking bad was about the onliest low spot
April 15th, 201210:17 pm
Heyward hit a Homerun
Chris from sac started a fan club for him
April 15th, 201210:18 pm
Freeman did hit a rope to left though, so that’s something
April 15th, 201210:20 pm
Mitchell is excited and bragged about the attendance
I don’t think we make until Dec before the world ends
April 15th, 201210:23 pm
durbin only gave up 3 and finished the inning..thats an improvement for him right?
April 15th, 201210:24 pm
about 118,000 for the three games. not bad at all, but not super for the first homestand and that they were playing well and winning…
No kidding, Bat. Today I saw Sacramento guy write something nice about Heyward.

My goodness, what’s SALAZAR feeding these animals!!!!!!!
what is tylers OPS…as long as its around 600 I think I’m ok with him this year
April 15th, 201210:26 pm
Durbin kept his Homerun allowed streak going. What’s the record for a reliever?
April 15th, 201210:31 pm
Most Consecutive Games with a Home Run Allowed by a Relief Pitcher
Pete Smith, 5/21/95 to 5/19/97, 6 games, 7 HR
Jay Hook, 6/27/61 to 7/22/61, 6 games, 7 HR
Bat – you should subscribe to Google…
April 15th, 201210:34 pm
Whatever it is, Bat, I don’t think we want to give him the chance to break it. What a boneheaded signing!
April 15th, 201210:36 pm
Where’s the fun in that, VJ
Pete Smith, ahhh
Durbin can take those guys out easy
Another ex-Brave tied for the next position:
Ron Mahay, 5/9/02 to 5/23/02, 5 games, 6 HR
April 15th, 201210:43 pm
I think Freddie said Chad was “Close”. or ” A blooper here and a broken bat jam shopt there.” But he’s close.
April 15th, 201210:45 pm
Save yourself _ Soph
I’ve got Bruce Willis on speed dial.
April 15th, 201210:48 pm
Can’t say Bobby Cox would not give a guy a chance
April 15th, 201211:02 pm
This team reminds me of that squad in ‘10. We’re hitting pretty well, but really working the other pitcher over. That doesn’t always lead to a win, but it’s a very good strategy to have going into a game. It’s called having a plan and Walker seems to be helping some of them especially Heyward. I like what we saw from Minor and Beachy the last games and expect the other to follow. Don’t want to get shown up by your fellow pitcher.
April 15th, 201211:03 pm
April 15th, 201211:10 pm
So, if Robert Fish’s “elbow tendonitis” keeps him on the DL all season does that satisfy the Rule 5 stipulations so that he can stay in the organization?
April 15th, 201211:19 pm
Hello everyone! Tomorrows starters ( Mets- Gee,and Braves- Tommy Hanson.) Should be a close ball game, and a good one.
April 15th, 201211:20 pm
This time maybe the Braves, can get some payback, being at home?
April 15th, 201211:27 pm
I’ll admit that Durbin, didn’t have the greatest game, and it was a bad one, but I’m still going to back him up, unless the trend continues, so bad that he shouldn’t be pitching…… Right now I think Durbin, needs more innings to to get sharp.
April 15th, 201211:28 pm
Bat – Amazing what a win does.
April 15th, 201211:33 pm
Yep, Ward, it is.
Good Nite Everyone. Go Braves
April 15th, 201211:34 pm
sunday and monday night tv suck for me…good news is tomorrow I’ll be at braves and tuesday i’ll be at little tigers game so I’ll likely get to skip them
April 15th, 201211:35 pm
bat – when r u coming up here?
April 15th, 201211:41 pm
geeze sunday is slower than saturday
April 15th, 201211:43 pm
Beats me, tiger.
Too many issues down here to plan a trip
April 15th, 201211:50 pm
April 15th, 201211:51 pm
work picked back up:?
April 15th, 201211:57 pm
Mostly family stuff, tiger.
There has been some improvement in business too
April 15th, 201211:59 pm
personally I think there are a lot of great Sunday and Monday shows.
April 16th, 201212:01 am
I hope y’all have fun tomorrow night, tiger.
Time to call it a day
I read the Red Sox may be interested in Marlon Byrd, but haven’t heard anything about the Braves lately.
April 16th, 201212:04 am
I’m hitting the hay, too. The blog seems to have died. Nite all.
nolie – I’m not watching much of them…I don’t have the remote
Yunel's Frosted Tips
April 16th, 201212:05 am
Nothing stupider than having everyone wear the same number in a game with no names on the back. I guess if they put names on them everyone would be Robinson…..why can’t they just get him a patch or special cap or something to honor him…
April 16th, 201212:21 am
so tired of looking for a job…
April 16th, 201212:22 am
so glad I have one
April 16th, 201212:24 am
I’m just amazed that people actually watch shows the nights they’re on (although, unlike everything else we watch, which we’re a week behind on, we did just watch tonight’s Game of Thrones)…
April 16th, 201212:26 am
Buona sera, Mrs. Campbell…
April 16th, 201212:29 am
Has anyone ! watched the Spartacus series on Starz? Season 2 was great. Can’t wait for season 3 in January next year.
April 16th, 201212:30 am
Meant to put has anyone, and trying to correct my spelling, and punctuation mistakes.
April 16th, 201212:40 am
vj – we watch them night of…but we start about 2 hours late so its still all on the DVR
April 16th, 201212:43 am
I don’t watch them then
April 16th, 201212:48 am
Spartacus, reminds me of 300 format, very bloody, and violent with the scenes done in slow motion, when you see the blood splatter every where. It’s a very well done series.
April 16th, 20121:14 am
Best thing about Spartacus is a nekkid Xena/Lucy Lawless.
April 16th, 20121:34 am
Ken – That was comedy………Lawless not bad at all. I’ll talk tomorrow, and Peace my friends……”Go!!!!!Braves!!!!!”
April 16th, 20122:25 am
when its sleepy time down south….
April 16th, 20123:57 am
Stevie Ray Vaughan – “Taxman”
I like The Beatles “Taxman”, too.
“If you take a walk, I’ll tax your feet”…
April 16th, 20126:18 am
Pretty shocking we signed Durbin for anything over the minimum. The guy was brutal last year.
His pitches are so flat…slider doesn’t have much bite. There’s basically no separation in speeds between pitches.
“BP” is Durbin’s new nickname.
April 16th, 20126:42 am
Speaking of taxing. You’re un-American, if you don’t like Chad Durbin. He is wretched refuse!
“Give us your tired, poor and befuddled masses yearning to play for free.
The wretched refuse of your team’s core.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost and tost and tost to me.
I lift my balance sheet beside the Accounting door.”
April 16th, 20127:15 am
Durbin is my kind of pitcher…..
Great weekend though!
April 16th, 20127:28 am
Hopefully the Braves can keep up the momentum and put a hurting on the Mets.
April 16th, 20127:47 am
Ward – Durbin hasn’t been sharp all that much for a couple of years – he has two decent seasons several ago and his career ERAs float around 5-6 runs a game.
Of course there was improvement of sorts yesterday – At least Fredi put him in in mop up duty with a six run lead and DIDN’T put in Venters or Kimbrel with a huge lead. That’s improvement, right?
April 16th, 20127:57 am
Mornin’, Braves fans. Here’s hoping the train rolls on and we can beat the Mets. I would love to rub that in my Mutts-loving customer’s face after seeing his email this morning from late Friday about the Home Opener. He had said earlier in the day something about the Braves losing the Home Opener and I said I was convinced it would be a win. He said, “okay, if you say so.” I said, well, we haven’t lost a home opener in a number of years (at least since 2010) and he replied “until now.” Well, I guess the Braves showed him! Now, lets whip his Mutts and I get the crowing rights
April 16th, 20128:13 am
Some random comments, got to go to the games on Saturday and Sunday, had a great time!
1. Minor and Beachy looked great. I hope both can put it together and have good years. Minor had a totally different way about him. He just looked very comfortable.
2. Ryan Braun needs to come out with the “real story” behind his PEDS situation. He was booed every time he got close to the ball and when he came up to bat. Folks think he is guilty.
3. I think Heyward is going to have a real good season. He seems to be focused on the ball and his swing looks better.
4. Chipper Jones is an awesome baseball player.
5. The Braves need Durbin on the team (like Proctor last year) so the fans can have someone on the team to hate. Look for him to be around for a good while.
April 16th, 20128:25 am
First day-game win for the Braves, BTW.
Good schedule coming up for the rest of the month, from a standpoint of stepping up in class. Arizona and Dodgers both playing well, and Braves on the road for both series. A plus road trip through there would have to give one a pretty good feeling. Probably gonna have to do that to get a 14-win month.
April 16th, 20128:35 am
Anybody hearing any big news?
Sandra Golden @sportsandra
#Braves making ‘big’ announcement at 8:40~! hmmmmm……. Schuerholz here to discuss!
April 16th, 20128:42 am
John’s #29 retired June 28th vs Blue Jays!!
April 16th, 20128:43 am
APRIL 13–Posing as a maintenance worker, a North Carolina man allegedly sneaked into a locker room at a minor league ballpark and hid a video camera that “secretly recorded visiting team members,” according to police.
LaDarryl Strong, 32, was collared by Zebulon Police Department officers Tuesday after he sought to flee from Five County Stadium, home to the Carolina Mudcats, the Class A affiliate of the Cleveland Indians.
Obviously, plays fantasy league baseball.
April 16th, 20128:47 am
#31, #47, #6, #29, #10
If I’m counting right this will make 4 numbers retired in 4 years. If they chose to retire chippers number next year instead of waiting it’ll be 5 in 5 years.
April 16th, 20128:49 am
John Smoltz #29 to be retired!!! Congrats to John, as he inducted in to the BRAVES hall of fame. June 8th is ceremony/game!
April 16th, 20128:50 am
John Smoltz will be on at 9:05…
