Bourn hasn’t lost the ability, Umpires are lazy and just assume things. Just because it was a great throw to 2nd base and it beat the runner doesn’t mean its a automatic out, The fielder still has to tag the runner…. MLB really needs to address this issue. Same thing happened to me in softball last night at a play at the plate. He tagged me on my head when I slide but I clearly touched the plate 1st..
So far, this is a well played baseball game by the Braves.
Really impressed by Beachy’s composure. Could have ‘lost’ it after that second, but got right back in there and has continually challenged the batters. Good performance.
And by Nick’s estimation (Uggla is horrible), we’ll see at least one more run: Uggla HR.
katherine, that shortstop’s name is Simmons and he is currently hitting .400 in the minors. And I agree, can’t wait to see him playing up here. I don’t even care if he hits because he is worth the price of admission just to see him play defense.
cab, it is a really good sandwich. I had one on Friday. Nicely seasoned beef cooked to just beyond medium. Served with a side of chips and a container of horseradish sauce to put on it. Yummy!
I don’t like to harp on the umps too much, but baseball does need to do something in regards to the strike zone. It is clearly defined. It needs to be called consistently as defined in the rule book, IMO.
That double play helped a great deal. Fine outing from Beachy to go along with Minor’s superb outing on Saturday. Now the Bullpen needs to record 6 outs with at least a 4 run lead.
Beachy really settled down. Still has a long way to go but if that’s the type of performances we get can get from No. 4 and No. 5 5-7 times this season we’ll be in it for the distance.
