Or at the very least, how bout lets see what this team’s front office perceived this roster’s weaknesses to be prior to the season. That could be helpful. That, or maybe you could ask Fredi what he thought of Ozzie’s Cuba comments or maybe just recommend me a good burger joint. Just as long as you avoid asking about Heyward not being in the lineup versus the Astros. (Baseball fans not from and been brainwashed here…wrap your mind around that for a minute). Can you imagine the “future face of the franchise ” sitting vs the Astros with your team down 0-3 in any other market without the local media losing their collective head? Here: just another story line that’s not really worth mentioning. Probably just heat of the moment decision much like hear of the moment comment by team President to season ticket holders. Not worth following up in. Heat of the moment comments don’t deserve attention unless they are made by anonymous blog commenters. Then and only then should they be not only commented on but they should be the subject of both time and ridicule. This whole thing is a joke. I feel for those guys in the field. Shotty expectations due to bad perspective never gave these guys a chance.

Wren may make it through the season, but I doubt Gonzales will. Won’t sell too many tickets with his decisions, i.e. Prado not at third tonite and Hinsky in outfield.

One good thing about 0-4, no need to overwork bullpen. Real easy even for Fredi.
Now that the bullpen is fully rested, will you please let your best pitchers start? Hanson, JJ, Medlen, Hudson, and Beachy/Minor would be solid enough to carry us to the #2 wild card. Please Fredi before you get fired!

For once I’m going to be serious. When we had Scherholz and Cox here we had an A plus GM and an A Manager. Scherholz made sure we had the top players – Bobby managed them. Wren is a B- GM, Fredi is a B- manager and the team is a C plus collection of talent. Put it all together and you get a Cplus team overall. Wren further messed up by bringing back the exact same shell-shoched clubhouse after a horrific collapse. This team has brought back the exact same mentality they finished with last season. So folks – get ready – it’s going to be a very long season. Derek Lowe wasn’t the prblem (see above).

In keeping with the theory that ‘a watched pot never boils’, I hereby promise, since I’ve seen all or most of every game so far this season, to not tune into any more of this crappy excuse for a baseball team effort until they win again…in fact I’m up for not subjecting myself, and whatever jinx I may be responsible for, to ‘em until they get to .500. Point being, I guess I’m out of he baseball-viewing business for the foreseeable future. Hell, I may even resort to ‘Dancing With The Stars’…at least I can see some coordinated athletes there.

Heres an excerpt from my 4-8-12 post. This was 2 games ago of course but really nothing much has changed. But after pointing out why the hel Fredi Gonzalez is answering questions about Stan Van Gundy. I pointed out some reality and got DOB mad at me.

DOB this coddling of Fredi Gonzalez by the Beat writers in Atlanta has gone too far. After 2 games of sub-standard baseball isnt the thing. Its the final Month and a half of last year……you know the complete choke of a 10 1/2 game lead, that allowed a team to come in and WIN the World Series. But the writes dont blame Fredi Gonzalez for his awful moves, his lack of intensity, and overall willingness to place blame on his team losing. Its always “Tip your hat” with this clown, but you writers cant point this out because your too “Buddy Buddy” with Gonzalez. Nobody has pointed the Collapse on him and it appears that you Atlanta writers go out of your way to keep the heat off of him.

Fredi’s biggest mistakes so far this season game by game:
Game #1 letting Costanza pinch hit with runner at third one out. Costanza struck out, the Braves lose 1-0.
Game #2 Not letting Freeman hit 3rd where he belongs. Freeman went 2 for 4 but no RBI because McCann and Uggla wasted all the chances in front of him.
Game #3 Leaving Minor too long, (really should have used Medlen 6th inning) still close ball game then, but the Mets blow the game open, the Braves lose 7-5
Game #4 starting Francisco at third, and still letting him play after 3 crucial errors, the Braves blow 3-0 lead and lose.

Fredi really doesn’t know his personnel, doesn’t know when to do what. no clue.

Ugly score but errors and lack of SP composure does that. Yes Juan booted it bad but Beachy needed to collect himself and move on. He didn’t.

Beachy like every starter we have needs the hook by the 5-6th inning. How is this rotation so admired when apart from Hudson and Lowe (barf) we have a bunch of 5inning wonders?

BTW – Tyler also over threw one into the dugout so he was no prize pig in the field either.

If Chipper doesn’t play 140 games (hint he won’t) Prado must be a fixture at 3B (no more Juan) b/c Tyler & Juan is a very crappy SS/3B cocktail.

Even then all that means is lots of Diaz, Constanza and Hinske in LF.

Sucks to be broke and overly optimistic about your club (fade in to Wren on a radio show, doesn’t matter which one – “I really like our team as it is…”)

Bobby use to play the crap JS pulled from the dumpster early in the season all the time. FG is a mini me of Bobby.

If felt like Bobby did it for spite. “Ok, John you gave me this crap let me show you what it will do..”

I doubt Fredi was doing that but clearly he was testing JF to see if he should be cut next week and replaced with one of the guys FG sent down in favor of keeping Constanza and Wilson (who blows nine ways to Sunday).

Let’s go back to the three run inning where the Astros took advantage of Francisco’s miscues and frankly, Beachy’s pitching. The great thing about Greg Maddux was when he had a lead, he pitched like he had a lead – meaning, he threw strikes and didn’t try to nibble. Sure enough, Beachy got the first two outs rather easily and then treated Jordan Schafer like he was Albert Pujols and started nibbling, eventually walking him.

THEN he got all worried about holding Schafer on the bag, with a three run lead!! Hello, why was Fredi or Roger McDowell sitting there on the bench, instead of coming out and saying in essence to Beachy, “Look son, you have a three run lead. If Schafer steals a base, it ain’t gonna kill you. Worry about the batter you’re facing and throw strikes! Even if he hits a homer, you STILL have a one run lead.”

Beachy ended up throwing 30 pitches that inning alone because he was not focused on the task at hand – getting guys out with a three run lead and throwing strikes instead of nibbling at the corners. THAT is a management issue. Any manager worth his salt would have at least went out and talked to Beachy and reminded him to just throw strikes. But nope, not this guy. Fredi and Roger just sat there while Beachy (and his infield) coughed up the lead.

And by the way, love how all those recent acquisitions are working out for us. Are the Braves trying to win games or be a slow pitch softball team with all these large guys?

During his pregame comments Bourn all but said he’d give his right arm to still be with Houston. He’s a dead fish.

I realize the defense and relief pitching let the Braves down in this one. But once again the Braves offense gets 3 runs and calls it a day. They have a .612 OPS as a team. They haven’t scored double digit runs since August 12. They only scored double digit runs 6 times all of last season.

This, of course, after firing the hitting coach who, in 2010, had them leading the NL in on base percentage.

The talent level on paper has increased while the production has and continues to decrease.

Reinstate TP as the hitting coach.

Oh yeah, and with each passing day I get more worried that the Braves are turning Heyward into another Matt Ryan. Hyped up to be a superstar, but at the end of the day just a decent player. Maybe players hyped up to be superstars should just avoid wearing any combination of the number 2 on the back of their jerseys. At the very least let the kid play against lefties so that he can learn instead of giving him the Klesko treatment.

I don’t know how much impact a manager really has on a baseball team, but they hired Fredi on the premise that he would more or less be a continuation of Bobby Cox. It’s pure on ugly, folks! The Braves in just four games to open the season have pretty much run the full range of how to lose baseball games: get shutout, go down big early and come up short in the comeback attempt, and completely blow a lead with multiple errors leading to multiple unearned runs.

There is one option left, for the closer to blow a save! Problem is the Braves haven’t once had a lead in the ninth to give anyone a chance for that one!

You covered all the bases on where this 0-4 start compares to a previous season of horrible futility. The Braves finished dead last many times with a superstar on the team named Dale Murphy. If he had support around him during his prime, chances are he would have hit well over 400 lifetime homers and been inducted into the HOF already.

Brian McCann is starting to look like that kind of hitter right now! Uggla was supposed to provide the right handed protection in the lineup for him. Perhaps Uggla will get it going sooner than June this season!

Braves management and players were insane to think that things “would just work out differently” with the same roster. No matter how you cook the ingredients, they are still the same ingredients that lead to the same outcome…a losing record.

Wren should be fired for being too timid to break up the roster. Its obvious this team doesnt have a lot of talent and all the young talent isnt living up to the hype.

I wish baseball adopted a policy that corporations can’t own teams. Stockholders and boardrooms don’t make good sports decisions. Historically they don’t take risks either. They only want to milk the fan base long enough to see the team appreciate in value. It’s sad to see the team you love become first a “tax write off and then an asset on the books”

Wait a minute I’m not gonna call Franscisco the Worst player in history……yet
But I do believe that Liberity Media is the worst ownership Group in Atlanta,,,,,,And yes they are worse that the Atlanta Spirit Group, because at least the Hawks can make the Play-offs. But for some reason noone in pro sports wants to come here and play or the ownerships here dont want to spend money. It looks like we are gonna be the Forbs most miserable sports city for many years to come.

When, in September, the Braves are 1 or 2 games back and under real pressure, they will look back on these wasted opportunities with rueful remembrance.

Having said that, I still think this team’s problems are 90% mental. A good Cerrano style offering might go a long way towards curing their ills.

The Baseball Gods are angry! Appease them.

I know people are going to say that it is only the first four games and we should not panic, but how many do we wait on before we start? Our infield defense is horrible. I felt like I was watching one of my son’s little league games, not a professional baseball team. These guys get paid more money than most to perform at a major league level. If they cannot, including the manager, live up to these expectations, then they do not need to be there. There is no fire or passion on this team; no intensity; and no sense of urgency. They just seem to be going through the motions and hoping that things will work out. People, you cannot win ballgames that way. I am not disputing that we have talent on this team, but that talent is for @#$$ if there is no passion and will to win. FG is not the man to lead this team. Bad management decisions and no fire.

Playing the parts of Scott Linebrink and George Sherrill this year will be Livan Hernandez and Chad Durbin. Now i know when I see either of these guys on the mound I can go ahead and beat the traffic out of the stadium! Keep up the good work!

Getting ready to hear quite a bit of another Caray saying, “plenty of seats still available if you’re driving around tonight.”

George Sherrill was at least decent last year Durbin is a Joke. Wait Fredi Gonzalaz is the sad joke. Might as well just wait fot the NFL PreSeason because the 2012 Braves are DONE. That’s what you get when you do NOTHING to IMPROVE your team after CHOKING a 10 ½ game lead. Boston fired their manager who won 2 World Series but we keep this buffon just so he can keep saying “Tip your Cap”……Its more like “This is Crap”

WE DEMAND BETTER!!!!!!!!!

This no intensity attitude of this Manager started last year when we started losing the Wild Card lead and players and Gonzo were saying don’t worry about it – same stuff they said after dropping opening 3 games, same stuff they said in pre-season when they were 1-10 – he needs to be fired – Bobby Cox was a horrible manager who destroyed starting pitchers by leaving them in too long and won 1 WS when he should have won 5. This clown is his pick to succeed him and he SUCKS AS A MANAGER!

Well atleast the Atlanta spirit put enough money into the Hawks to win. The problem is that the money was not spent wisely with the Hawks. The Braves just have cheap pathetic ownership. It’s sad too because if the Braves had owners willing to spend money the Braves would be contending for a World Series every year because of the name recognition. People grew up loving and watching the Braves and want to come play for them. It’s the one team in Atlanta that could pull in big time ballplayers if we were just willing to spend the money.
