NEW YORK — So what should we make of the fact that 23 of 30 major league teams hit one or no home runs through Friday, including 11 teams with zero? Or that 11 teams have scored two or fewer runs including seven with one or none? Or that the Marlins have scored one run in two games after being by far the lowest scoring team in the majors in spring training?
What should we make of the fact that the Pujols-less Cardinals lead the majors with 15 runs and four homers in two games, wile the Braves, Royals and Pirates failed to score in their season openers?

Pastornicky's all-around performance in the season opener was a bright spot for the Braves in the rookie shortstops major league debut. (AP photo.)
The answer to all is nothing. We should draw no conclusions about any of this stuff after one or two games. Or after five, for that matter. (We’ll give it six — the first two series. OK, we’re kidding. Sort of…)
But seriously, it’s folly to jump to conclusions about how a 162-game season is going to go based on the first game or first series or first trip or homestand for any team. It’s not an 16-game NFL season. It’s a 162-game season.
That said, I certainly can understand the worries or frustrations of some Braves fans following Friday’s shutout loss againt the Mets in Johan Santana’s first start in 18 months since shoulder surgery. Especially since some fans couldn’t avoid stewing it in and thinking back to the September slide because of yesterday’s off day in the schedule.
(Notice we used the word “slide” there — we’re going to avoid using the c-word today, because some have complained that we keep dredging it up and reminding them of what happened when the Braves lost 20 of their final 30 games in 2011 and blew a 10-1/2 game Aug. 25 lead over St. Louis and an 8-1/2 game wild-card lead after Sept. 5. Semantics is our friend.)
As I mentioned yesterday, the two things I found concerning about Thursday’s hitting performance, as it were, by the Braves was the return of a recurring theme in 2011. Again, it’s one game and it was against a lefty who’s got the second-highest winning percentage among all pitchers since his debut in 2000, and was particularly focused and determined in his first start in 18 months since shoulder surgery.
But Atlanta also managed just two hits in four innings against the bullpen. And until they prove otherwise, these Braves, with virtually the same lineup they finished with in 2011, are still the team that finished last in the majors in average (.229) and OBP (.291) against lefties, and last in the NL in slugging percentage (.354) and OPS (.645) against lefties.
And they’ll face three more lefties before this trip is over – the Mets’ Jonathon Niese on Sunday (he was 2-0 in three starts against the Braves last season) and Houston’s Wandy Rodriguez and J.A. Happ.

After throwing 83 pitches and allowing one run in five-plus innings in Thursday's opener, Tommy Hanson (above) will come back to start Game 5 on Tuesday and fifth starter Randall Delgado will start Game 6. (AP photo.)
The Braves will face a righty Saturday, albeit an unconventional one – R.A. Dickey, who mixes knuckleballs with mid-80 mph fastballs. We’ll see the Braves debut of Juan Francisco, the new primary backup to third baseman Chipper Jones after coming over in a trade from Cincinnati the day before the Braves broke camp at Dark Star.
Then it’ll be back to facing a lefty on Sunday in the series finale, and two lefties in three games against the lowly ‘Stros. Chipper hopes to be back in the lineup Tuesday, the day he’s eligible to come off the DL, but he might opt to wait till next Friday’s home opener depending how he and his surgically repaired knee feel in the next couple of days.
How many people realize that three Atlanta lineup regulars hit .210 or below last season for the Braves?
Jason Heyward hit .192 with a .270 OBP against lefties, with 23 strikeouts in 104 at-bats.
Dan Uggla hit .202 with 49 strikeouts in 163 at-bats vs. lefties, with six homers and a .652 OPS. (Compared to 30 homers and an .806 OPS in 437 at-bats vs. righties.)
And the Braves struggles vs. lefties even seemed contagious after Michael Bourn arrived in a deadline-day trade from Houston. After hitting .284 with a .341 OBP against lefties before the trade, the speedy leadoff man hit just .210 (17-for-81) with a .226 OBP against lefties as a Brave, with 23 strikeouts and one walk. Yes, 23 strikeouts and one walk.
Which brings us to a big reasons – two, actually – that the Braves need to get Chipper back as soon as possible. Even rusty and approaching his 40th birthday, he remains one of the Braves’ best against lefties and in clutch situations.
He’s a .305 career hitter against lefties (.304 vs. righties). Last year, at age 39 in another injury-plagued season, his .270 average and .344 on-base percentage vs. lefties were the highest marks among Braves with at least 40 or more at-bats against lefties.
And with runners in scoring position – the Braves were 0-for-6 in those situations Thursday – Jones led the team with a .337 average in 2011.
• Francisco debut: Martin Prado moves from third base back to left field Saturday with Francisco at third making his Atlanta debut. Manager Fredi Gonzalez plans to use that arrangement against right-handers whenever Chipper is out.

David Wright drove in the only run in the Braves-Mets season opener. Runs were scarce in most major league games in the first couple of days of the season.
Gonzalez also plans to play Francisco against lefties, or at least some of them early in the season, to see what he can do against them. (He played Matt Diaz in left field on Thursday because Diaz had a .500 career average in 32 previous at-bats against Santana, which he maintained by going 1-for-2 against him with a double Thursday.)
With the Reds’ Triple-A team last season, Francisco hit .343 (72-for-210) against right-handers with 30 extra-base hits (10 homers), a .370 on-base percentage and a .956 OPS, while against lefties he hit .269 (29-for-108) with six homers, three walks, a .298 OBP and .798 OPS.
In limited major league opportunities over three seasons, Francisco hit .284 overall with 11 doubles, one triple, five homers and 29 RBI in 169 at-bats, only 26 of which came against lefties. Gonzalez said he wants to give him a chance to show if he can hit lefties.
• J.J. vs. R.A.: 2012 All-Star Jair Jurrjens will try to get back to that first-half form from a year ago and continue the momentum from his last couple of successful spring starts against modest Houston split-squad lineups. Jurrjens is 8-4 with a 2.94 ERA in 13 career starts against the Mets, including 0-2 with a 5.40 ERA in his last two against them in June. (He had a 2.54 ERA in 11 starts against them before those two starts on June 4 and June 14.)
He’ll face Dickey, who was 1-2 in five games (four starts) against Atlanta last season despite a 2.60 ERA and .190 opponents’ average in those games.
And can you find a hitter with a worse couple of matchups out of the gate than Uggla, who was 1-for-19 with 10 strikeouts against Santana before going 0-for-2 with two strikeouts against him on Opening Day. So he’s 1-for-21 against the lefty — which is one hit better than Uggla is against Dickey.
Uggla is 0-for-21 with five strikeouts and one walk against him. Gonzalez said Uggla’s hitting streak was at 23 games last year when the Braves faced Dickey after an off day. Gonzalez said he called Uggla on the off day and asked if he wanted to rest and not face Dickey. Uggla told him no, to put him in there.
Then he went 0-for-3 against Dickey and got a hit off a reliever to extend the streak.
• Mets’ Torres on DL: Opening Day was a rough one for new Mets center fielder Andres Torres, who reinjured the left calf he hurt in spring training. Torres was placed on the DL and prospect Kirt Niewenhuis was added to the 40-man roster and brought up from the minors to start Saturday.
Torres got a taste of the Mets’ recent bad fortunes, getting hurt in his first regular-season game with the team that acquired him from San Francisco as a defensive upgrade in a trade that sent fellow speedster Angel Pagan to the Giants. Torres had already been picked off first base by Tommy Hanson to end third inning, after reaching on an error by Uggla on a routine grounder.
• Santana gives Mets hope? After 33-year-old Santana, making his first start in 18 months since shoulder surgery, limited the Braves to two hits in five scoreless innings in the season opener, Jones was asked about the veteran pitcher by a New York writer.
The guy wanted to get his thoughts on the Mets pinning much of their hopes on the former two-time American League Cy Young award winner, and Jones compared the situation to the recent Marlins doing the same with Josh Johnson.
“And I think you’ll see it again this year – if the guy [Johnson] can go out and make 35, 36 starts, the Marlins are going to be pretty good,” Jones said. “Same thing with Johan – if he can go out and make his scheduled starts and pitch like he did today, you’ve always got hope. Long as you’ve got that horse at the front end, the other guys kind of feed off him. If they feed off what he did today, the Mets can win ballgames. That lineup is solid.”
As a reminder of how long Chipper has been around, consider he’ll be 40 on April 24 – nearly seven full years older than Santana.
Since debuting with Twins in 2000, Santana is fourth in the majors in strikeouts (1877) and his 133-79 record gives him a higher winning percentage (.658) in that period than any starter except Roy Halladay (.671).
• Saw a terrific Bruce Springsteen concert last night at Madison Square Garden. The Boss started it with this masterpiece, “Badlands,” while the house lights were still on. Click here to see Bruce and the E Street Band doing it live three decades ago. (They still tore it up like nobody’s business last night, playing for just over three hours.)
An off day in New York is a rarity. Guess I should thank the schedule makers for building in the off day so teams won’t have to give up a large gate in the event of an Opening Day rainout. Friday was sunny and about 60 degrees. Waldy’s Pizza, a long walk to Greenwich Village, stop at Academy Records … and Bruce at Madison Square Garden. That’ll work.

“BADLANDS” by Bruce Springsteen
Lights out tonight, trouble in the heartland
Got a head-on collision smashin’ in my guts man
I’m caught in a crossfire that I don’t understand
But there’s one thing I know for sure
Girl, I don’t give a damn for the same old played out scenes
Baby, I don’t give a damn for just the in-betweens
Honey, I want the heart, I want the soul, I want control right now
You better listen to me baby, talk about a dream, try to make it real
You wake up in the night with a fear so real
You spend your life waiting for a moment that just don’t come
Well don’t waste your time waiting
Badlands, you gotta live it every day
Let the broken hearts stand as the price you’ve gotta pay
We’ll keep pushin’ till it’s understood
And these badlands start treating us good
Workin’ in the field till you get your back burned
Workin’ ‘neath the wheels till you get your facts learned
Baby, I got my facts learned real good right now
You better get it straight, darling
Poor man wanna be rich, rich man wanna be king
And a king ain’t satisfied till he rules everything
I wanna go out tonight, I wanna find out what I got
Well I believe in the love that you gave me
I believe in the faith that could save me
I believe in the hope and I pray that some day it may raise me above these
Badlands, you gotta live it every day
Let the broken hearts stand as the price you’ve gotta pay
Keep pushin’ till it’s understood
And these badlands start treating us good
Awhoa whoa whoa whoa
Mmmmmmmmm
Mmmmmmmmm
Mmmmmmmmm
Mmmmmmmmm
For the ones who had a notion, a notion deep inside
That it ain’t no sin to be glad you’re alive
I wanna find one face that ain’t looking through me
I wanna find one place, I wanna spit in the face of these
Badlands, you gotta live it every day
Let the broken hearts stand as the price you’ve gotta pay
Keep movin’ till it’s understood
And these badlands start treating us good
Awhoa whoa whoa whoa
Badlands, awhoa whoa whoa whoa
Badlands, awhoa whoa whoa whoa
Badlands, ahwoa whoa whoa whoa
Badlands, ahwoa whoa whoa whoa
Badlands, ahwoa whoa whoa whoa
Badlands…

Don’t kid yourselves, after that excellent hitting display Thursday, does anyone really expect the Braves offense to muster up anything against a knuckleballer who has pitched really well against him in the past couple of seasons….
They are not going to win today
and a leftie is going tomorrow in Niese and anyone that has watched this team over the past couple of seasons knows that this bunch couldn’t hit a left-handed pitcher if they were throwing a softball up there.
They will start 0 and 3, and that’s the negativity, it’s just the truth.
It’s sad and pathetic

We can say, “It’s only one game” but in reality, it is a continuation of last year’s horrible hitting. Same people, same lineup, same results.
Frank Wren needed to do 2 things this offseason: 1. Get a right handed outfielder (one of the easiest positions to fill in baseball) and 2. Get a back up SS (one of the easiest positions to fill.
You see the results.

These hitters are so not clutch. They have no problem getting guys on but clinch up trying to get them in. Bourn looked awful. Diaz shouldn’t play at all. And this Francisco isn’t an answer to anything but more of the same with strikeouts and unproductive at bats.

One of my all time favorite songs is the old country standard “HERE WE GO AGAIN”. I have been singing it a lot the last 3 days. Anybody notice the Braves have not scored a run now in 12 innings? Yet, spring training did not mean a thing! If there was a contest for “MR OPTIMIST” all the AJC sportswriters would tie for first place. It’s about time they told it like it is!

That’s embarrassing. Nothing has changed. Literally, no changes of any kind were made other than free agents signing with other teams as free agents do and Derek Lowe being shipped to Cleveland.
Same exact team, DOB.
Pretty unbelieveable for you to say TOO EARLY TO MAKE JUDGEMENTS!
If Albert Pujols was at first base right now, it would be too early.
If David Wright was wearing a Braves uniform right now, it would be too early.

JJ is going to get rocked this season if his FB tops out in the 86-88 range. If they were playing a team not expected to come in last place the score would be 4-0 by now or worse.
The offense is a joke sadly. Piece parts glued together not a purposely designed lineup.
Wren grabs odd pieces here and there, tosses in some rookies being asked to do too much and this is what you get.
Cohesion level = 0. Rally together potential = 0. Post season odds = 0
They say all the right things in ST and during the season but this team has no glue, no chemistry and no leadership.
Same story since JS had to start dumping good players due to budget and or arb fears.

I would not say Atlanta is a bad sports town. Metro area is VERY passionate about college football. Also, it is a great tennis and golf town if you play. Watching pro sports on the other hand. Yes, it is a bad town. This coming from an Atlanta native. One factor is all the transplants that have moved to Atlanta. I can understand moving to a new city and keeping alligence to their home team. Plus, pro teams in Atanta are above average, but not good enough to win it all.

Guys we can blast FW all you want, but it’s hard to put together a World Series contender when you have ownership that has a Dollar General Store mentality toward the budget. I find it amusing that Liberty trotted out that same ole song and dance with Terry McGuirk statement, “I almost relish when one of our competitors goes in the free agent market because it’s so inefficient and such a bad use of dollars. You almost never get the value out of a free agent expense.” I don’t relish it. That just shows me that our competitors are truly doing whatever it takes to win and not just giving lip service to it like our owners do.
Thanks, for the Libertyspeak, Terry. Do you honestly believe that a 5-year contract to a premier pitcher that eventually goes 89-33 with a World Series Championship during the life of that contract is a bad investment? I give you Greg Maddux. When I think that we could have had Arthur Blank as owner instead of the current nefarious faction, it makes me sick. Bud, I hope you made enough money off of that deal. Oh, and please, spare me that the “best interest of baseball” nonsense.

I do give FW credit for getting Bourne. However, if you peel away at his numbers. You see a low OBP for a leadoff hitter. Great base stealer YES, but you can’t steal first. Low OBP all the way up and down the lineup. It is very hard to score, when you don’t get on baseball. Hence, all the solo shots last year.

This team needs an infusion, and I don’t mean more feel good stories abut Chipper getting closer to coming back. Or, it needs a seriously good sports shrink. When someone gets on base, this team goes into the can’t hit mode. Heyward hits a triple with no one on, strikes out with a chance to make something happen. Freeman hits into a double play after Uggla walks, but leads off an inning with a hit next time up. It goes on and on like this. This normally shouldn’t be a worry this early in the year, but we are watching the same team play the same way as they ended the season last year.

Excuse machine will be in full force for the 22nd time in the last 32 games…
1) Its early….
2) Gotta tip your cap…
3) Just couldn’t get the big hit…
4) They just got a one more hit than we did…
Facts: 1) Invent ways to not score 2) Lack of clutch hits 3) Can’t score without a HR 4) Poor at bats 5) Too many walks by the starter 6) Few hits to get rallies started…
Where am I wrong?
Not!
2 losses against the worst team in the division…chance to get swept too.
Unbelievable/depressing start to 2012. And don’t give me the “its early” or its only two games bull. This is 22 losses in 32 games period! Its not good!
This is no way to spin it positively.

Well, come on guys. We all knew the emperor had no clothes. We knew this team wasn’t very good. I don’t think we should act shocked and appalled. This is the Mets. Look at what the Tigers did to us in ST. Wren made a choice and now so can we. Stop watching and stop buying tickets.

It’s going to be a long season, but if Frank and Fredi end up getting canned as a result, I’d be OK with it. I have zero expectations for this year anyway.
The Braves need a new direction. Trying to hold on to the remnants of the great ’90s Braves teams by hiring Cox’s and Schuerholz’s lieutenants has proven to be an ineffective strategy.

A front office that intentionally has Costanza, Durbin, Livan and Diaz on the roster, and manager that uses ALL of them in crucial situations do not deserve to be supported. I’ve been a season ticket holder since 89, and seen it all, but this is fan abuse. They know better, and have the money to do something about it, and just refuse because mediocritiy is more profitable in the short term than success. I feel sorry for the players that have to go through it, and sorrier for the fans that pay to see it.

The Braves would be fine with another manager at the helm, say if Bobby were back.

@smallmouth6, I’m going to agree with you to an extent except to say that while they don’t hit with runners in scoring position, they don’t really hit without runners in scoring position either. Today they were 0 for 4 with runners in scoring position, which means they only got 4 at-bats with runners able to get to scoring positions. Simply put, the Braves just don’t hit. Instead of getting better clutch hitters they just need better hitters, period.

It’s omly two game into the season, but this Braves team will have a problem scoring runs all year. McCann and Uggla are suppose to be our hitting leaders and they are in the middle of the lineup and not producing so far. Its hard to positive when all you hear about is how everyone has made adjustments at the plate, yet this team looks just like they did when they faded last year! they look lost! Now they are banking on a 40 year old Chipper Jones! It will take him three to 4 games to get going and the Braves will be 1-7 before they actually start hitting. Its going to be a long season Braves fans.

What’s discouraging is that they don’t really have any hitters coming along in the minors either. Bethancourt and Simmons are supposed to be plus-plus defenders but there are real questions about whether they will ever hit. Other than McCann, have the Braves developed a top hitter since the 90’s? Maybe I’m forgetting someone. I realize the jury is still out on Heyward and Freeman but it seems like they take a guy like Heyward, with patience and plate discipline, and make him as hacktastic as possible. They did the same thing with Kelly Johnson. There’s nothing wrong with taking a walk. In fact, the best thing for me from today’s game was Heyward working a couple of walks.

I’m not sure a bat or two would be enough to change the culture permeating this franchise right now. These guys are professional hitters: we have rookie of the year candidates and winners and four previous all stars. For whatever reason, the whole is less than the sum of its parts. Tomorrow’s game is pointless. Doesn’t matter if we win. 1-2 against the Mets is worthless. They still would have to sweep the Astros…to get to 4-2, the worst they should have done against these two teams.

Worst managing I’ve literally seen in my life of watching baseball and having a clue for 19 years… 2 guys on, your team cannot score and it’s a tie game. You just had an off day. O’Flaherty hasn’t pitched in days with multiple lefties coming up. Guy had the lowest ERA in baseball for relievers last year? What does Wizard Fredi do? Put in a 300 pound RH to face multiple lefties to blow the come back within minutes classic… Cristhian Martinex earned that spot after last years performance. And don’t give me the 4th inning is too early for EOF, the game was on the line, you have Venters and Kimbrel ready to go later. Martinex could’ve pitched 2 innings. But no, let’s let Chad Durbin throw straight 90MPH fastballs. I knew another Jack was in order…
This game was blown by awful managing and that fierce Mets bullpen! I’m not a fairweather fan, I just know when I see HORRIBLE managing!

John, and how many games will they be back by the time they get it together? Do you think good teams like the Cardinals or Rangers or Rays, and many others are waiting for their players to warm up? This team is awful and its manager and ownership are even worse. JJ broke 90 MPH… once or twice today… so we have two relatively young guys.. Hanson and JJ who can barely break 90 MPH on the radar gun… we have no offense, we have no bench… I know its very very early but this is not panning out too well. How much you want to bet in August when this team is 12 games out Fredi gets a 2 year contract extension? That is how this organization operates now… reward failure, do nothing to encourage success and settle for what you can get. I’ve never been less excited about a Braves season and I’ve been a fan for 20 plus years. This team has ran out of excuses with its fans, we aren’t interested in mediocrity anymore.

You’re a vet here so I say this with all do respect: With what you just said means you fall in the typical Atlanta bin. “Well we had a winning record, so that’s nothing to worry about” It is alot to worry about when that last month can devastate the psyche of a team for the upcoming season, especially with how impressionable all the young players are. Here is a fact for you. No team has ever imeediately recovered from a collapse, especially when the manager is retained. You should worry about that.
I never said this team wasn’t talented. If we were going off talent alone, this team has enough talent to win 95-100 games and end up in the World Series. Sadly this talent is incredibly mismanaged by a man that got his job simply because he was best friends with that of the incumbent.

Seems to me the trend is that the Braves have far too many players that can hit fine in blow-out games and no runners on situations early in close games. You get to the 5th inning or later in a close game and the other team can bring in an outfielder to pitch (somebody did that in a game a few years ago – I forget who) and toss the ball over the plate and these mental midgets will CHOKE.

I thought Diaz could get the Ax… I mean he is coming off a horrible season, He only can hit LHP, no power, no speed, below average defense. Solid possibility that he is on the decline and some younger guy could out-produce him. Sometimes going with the better player should be the choice. Now for Diaz I did say he deserves a chance since he’s the veteran out of the mix, but so far he’s stuck out like a sore thumb. Another offensive explosion (heavy sarcasm). Well I was chastised by fellow Braves fans after my criticism about the lack of offense the other day. It’s only one game everybody said. Uh no it’s not. Lack of offense, especially clutch hitting, has been the Braves problem for the last 2 yrs. But go ahead and stick your head in the sand and defend Wren, who refuses to part with any of his outstanding 8 or 9 starting pitchers for some right handed power hitting. Don’t give me some crap that he’s tried. 90 % of all teams are looking for young talented starters and willing to trade hitters. We will, again this yr, waste championship level pitching because Wren wants to keep at least 3 quality starters stuck at Gwinnett. Go ahead and, stupidly, defend him

It isn’t as if the bitching comes at invalid points with some posters though. How many times do we need to see the Braves fail at the some RISP opportunities as last year? How many times do we need to see Fredi put us in a hole with a bad decision? Why do many of the players have the same looks on their faces of past September?
As long as people invest time and resources in this club, as ill as it may be on the brain, you can bet they are going to complain if they aren’t happy with the product. Essentially the same product as a season ago.

Sorry, just back from the hospital, but I wanted to say: I told you before Thursday’s opening day that dope of a manager would bat the slowest man and most untypical 3rd in the order, McPopup. He’s dumb, his veterans know it, and they haven’t an ounce of respect for Fruiti.
DOB, doesn’t know it (or if he does he’s afraid to say it about his bike buddy), but Fruiti has lost his players confidence in his ability to put together effective lineups, use appropriate pitchers at the right time, or make in-game, situational decisions–in short, he can’t manage a baseball team.
But, I also told you because of the very average Hanson and JJ, and stupidity of their manager, they would also win with Mike Minor on the mound. I said we’d go 1-2 (because of Minor) and all the pork ring goobers snorted pork regurgitated rinds and Schlitz out of their fat nostrils. LOL!

I agree with nolie on Heyward. He got a couple of walks today and that is good. His triple was fortunate in that he wasn’t trying to do that. He was just trying to hit a pitch that he was fooled on and he survived and it worked out for him. I’m not a fan of Heyward. I think he’s missing a lot between the ears, but that’s just my opinion and I could be wrong. It’ll be hard to be as bad as he was last year. If this team is to resurrect itself, they will need this kid to do better than last year.

This team is sooooo not into baseball! They act like they don’t have to do anything until the ninth inning! They BELIEVE it’s going to happen EVERY game . . . just play around, until the last at-bat. Bourn shows he wants to be traded, he don’t want to be in Atlanta. Was not even running hard on the double which would have been a triple if he had hustled, then again on the tag out at-home on the passed ball, he was going back instead of breaking for home and did not even attempt to avoid the tag by going around the plate. Heyward was the smartest hitter, making the pitcher throw strikes instead of hacking at every offering, got two walks and a triple! DANG ! This team is disgusting!

Not a great first two games for our Braves. But hopefully they can bounce back tomorrow against a LHP in Niese. Then it’s Happ, Weiland, Wandy and Wolf. 4 LHP’s in 5 days. That’s gotta get figured out, although I’m just not sure what the solution is. Uggla is a RH hitter who oddly enough stuggles more vs. LHP. Chipper should help when he gets back in there.

Jurrjens wasn’t very impressive. 86-88mph with the fastball and it didn’t look like great sink. A couple of the singles he gave up were just good placement in the infield from the Mets though. Do not forget that the manager picks his players and if, when and where they will play.
Fruiti opened with Hanson’s blistering 87-89 mph fastball
Fruiti followed with JJ with his blistering 86-87 mph fastball
Fruiti bats the slowest and recently very unproductive McCann at 3rd in the order
Fruiti sent down the new right hander with a below 1.00 ERA
Funny, Fruiti calls his best two Hanson and Jurrjens, yet the next three pitchers in the order can throw 3-6 mph faster that either of them.
