85 mph meatball right down broadway. Atta boy JJ.
Crap. Damn awful.
The A Bomb
April 7th, 20121:26 pm
Excellent pitch calling.
Blue is squeezing us behind the plate, forcing JJ to groove pitches.
We’re gonna be in for a long day if that’s the pattern…
87 mph fastball down the middle of the plate is going to full nobody in this game.
I wonder what the mood will be around here if the Braves get swept.
87 mph fastball pitch that the homerun was hit on…many people will tee off on that
What the hell Umpires-1 Braves-0
wow, we squander and easy rbi opportunity and then they come out and blast a homer.
Game over. 1-0. We have no answer for that.
David Wright Owes That Umpire VIP Tickets at the local NY Stripm Joint for that Homer…That was BS
Dr. John Zoydberg
Give Wright 5 strikes and he is dangerous.
Not being negative, just stating an honest opinion. I think JJ’s best days are behind him.
April 7th, 20121:27 pm
If Bourne’s approach doesn’t concern people, then nothing does.
Someone should’ve chewed his ass.
And please, no excuses because the ump’s blind….have to overcome bad calls.
Well, Jurrjens got squeezed, then had to throw it right down the middle.
we don’t hafta win, even if we get swept there are lots of games left….
Woops, I mean fool nobody. Damn, I hate typos
Finally, three outs.
April 7th, 20121:28 pm
feeling any better Jason?
“87 mph fastball pitch that the homerun was hit on…many people will tee off on that”
nolie, that’s what Powell was just saying about Francisco. His range isn’t great, but was voted in the minors to have the best arm for a 3rd baseman. He doesn’t excite me, but you never know, he could catch fire or something. Stranger things have happend.
It’s not right to be pizzed off on Easter weekend. Blasted ump, that first pitch to Wright was a perfect strike
April 7th, 20121:29 pm
Let’s get some runs!
JJ looking really dominant. I think that pitch to Wright was the “eliminator”
“we don’t hafta win, even if we get swept there are lots of games left….”
Some folks don’t see it that way, noleee. Some folks act like we are out of contention after one game.
MFin04 – Well, Jurrjens got squeezed, then had to throw it right down the middle.
Good to see that people around here DO get the idea.
JJ gave up a homer on strike four.
I see that Wright has kept his complete ownership of Jurrjens
Wow, Ballgame already.
Jurrjens did look good. If he got strike calls right down the middle, the inning would have been 1-2-3.
April 7th, 20121:30 pm
JJ didnt HAVE to throw it anywhere. Tho he DID get squeezed.
It’s going to take a heroic effort from Francisco to pull this one out.
Guys gotta bust it out of box on flyballs (unlike what Bourn did on misplayed double)
i was thinking the same thing – seems like triple could’ve been possible
Answer it UGGLA
Well, we just lost cause we won’t score a run.
I Gave Her Undertaker eyes
April 7th, 20121:31 pm
uggla you dont have to hit every ball out the park…
“MFin, So piss off.”
We’re not bad hitters if we don’t hit Dickey. He already has the advantage anyways. Who the hell practices hitting 68 mph floaters?
April 7th, 20121:32 pm
Bourn sux, shoulda gotten Pence. Better player and it woulda kept him away from the Phils and their park
Best we could hope for was a 0-0 tie. 0-2 to start the season.
Nice to see fake bravesgrl4life is back stealing names and being childish
No, still can’t move and the pain is making sick. On my way to the ED…thanks for asking Nolee!
Looks like I am leaving the blog. I am really tired of this idiot hijacking my name. If you are a reguilar, I will echo Trey and tell you to piss off. You are not funny, you obviously have nothing better to do, and those that know me on here know that you are just a pissant punk.
April 7th, 20121:33 pm
This Ump is really beginning to P’s Me off!
JJ would not have gotten that pitch.
Freddie stands in the box and just looks at 3 gofer balls out over the middle of the plate.
April 7th, 20121:34 pm
Gomer Cooper sucks…
Only ones worse — Cuzzi who’s behind the plate tomorrow and that knucklehead Hernandez. Even Hohn’s better.
Okay, good at-bat for Jason.
Here’s The New Guy!
Oh boy, the old one sided umpiring today.
Might have to go with the Dan Uggla approach and swing and after thing, if everything is called a strike.
A walk for Heyward
Even the mets guys said at least that last strike was outside. The 2nd one was too
After a Heyward walk, here’s the new guy.
HAHAHA! What else can u do but laugh at this point? This team is garbage. It isn’t “just early” this offense has been pathetic for the past couple of years
Dude does look like Wily Mo Pena…
April 7th, 20121:35 pm
See the ball hit the ball Juan!
I’m on gameday lol
Really good at bat by Heyward, I would think most guys would take a lot of pitches against Dickey.
Is It me or does Ju-Co remind People of Pablo Sandoval in the batters box?
April 7th, 20121:36 pm
Sutton just called out Heyward saying he has to unbutton his shirt on that 3-0 fastball and not just sit there and watch it go by.
come on new guy
cabravesfan – Thank you for some sanity.
Addendum — umps only get worse if the team sucks. And having a “manager” who doesn’t work them like the previous one.
I know it’s too early to make judgements… not if the Braves had won though of course.
If the Braves had won 1-0 on Thursday it would have been, “Braves erase all memories of collapse with convincing win at Citi Field on Opening Day, yay!!!”
Anyway, too early to make judgements (wink) but a walk for the J-Hey Kid. I’ll take it!
I will take that back…I will just call him “New Guy!”
April 7th, 20121:37 pm
Have to admit, I am concerned with the velocity decrease from both Hanson and Jurrjens. Jurrjens has only hit 88 so far and Hanson barely touched 90. Heres hoping it goes up as the season goes on. I can’t imagine being effective without these guys.
If only it would help…
April 7th, 20121:38 pm
This is One of those games where I Miss Bobby!
He would’ve been thrown out by now
This Ump Blows!
April 7th, 20121:39 pm
Here’s where he takes him deep.
Oh Well time to eat
April 7th, 20121:40 pm
11 innings and counting.
guy coulda walked by now. I think he’s gonna frustrate the hell outta me…
*yawns* why am I watching this…what time the hawks play again?
Well he has to swing.. This umpire is in the Mets back pocket
The umpire looks like Freddie G. and we still can’t get calls.
now im not mad at dish network for keeping WPCH off
The new guy’s goin to fit right in
Fresh meat looks like around 150Ks…if he played full time…and maybe .310 OBP…should fit right in…
I jinxed him.
He was going to take Dickey deep and I jinxed him.
April 7th, 20121:41 pm
Looks like it is going to be another long day where the offense looks lost.
Francisco is Jeff Francour basically. Have fun with that plate discipline lol
njbraves — Not 11 innings….21 now.
April 7th, 20121:42 pm
Anybody have a link to the radio broadcast?
JJ says “I think I’ll perplex him with my slowball…” in his best Bugs Bunny voice…
I can imagine being effective without JJ. I’d insert Medlen. Problem solved.
The BP would suffer a bit, but Meds would go more innings than JJ and Hanson. He induces more ground balls and works very efficiently.
This might be the worst offensive team in live ball era history.
Kyle H – I agree. I think Tommy keeps some MPH in reserve most of the time.
Your guess is as good as mine about JJ though. I remember a couple of seasons ago and he said he had dialed it back some, but he was also still around 92-93 at the time.
His fastball is 86 MPH.
April 7th, 20121:43 pm
Sch a positive start so far through the first ten innings of 2012.
Still waitin’ for that first big run. =)
Yep, Greg Maddux sure needed more velocity on his pitches.
lol wow ump are going to call the game or what
April 7th, 20121:44 pm
count_schemula – JJ says “I think I’ll perplex him with my slowball…” in his best Bugs Bunny voice…
LOVE that one!
Now the Mets guys are pointing out that JJ is not getting the same strike calls as Dickey. If even they are noticing…
GIVE JJ SOME CALLS! GOODNESS!
April 7th, 20121:45 pm
Oh, my stuff is slow, rekon I’m Greg Maddux now!
We talk baseball, other sports, music, movies, BBQ and whatever (except politics or religion)
