This team is as weak as any Braves team I can remember. Their offense was weak last season and it appears to be even weaker in 2012. Already lost a series and have shown no signs of life in the least.

I know this will get ignored, but Braves management has to be a bit concerned that we don’t have a home game until April 13.

The way we look, the stands may be very empty after opening week-end, probably as soon as Sunday afternoon, April 15.

Because Hinske pinch hit for the rookie SS and the back up SS pinch ran for Hinske so he could go in if they Braves tied the game.

Bad decision after bad decision for Fredi Gonzalez. if you check out my previous posts I actually knew what was going to happen. I said we should have pitch hit for JJ in the 5th inning. Then I questioned him putting Durbin in and then I wondered why Diaz was pitch hitting instead of Henske…………I would be abetter manager than Fredi Gonzalez…….and thats SAD

In addition to the losses, does anyone else think this team is just boring? I can’t quite put my finger on it but there’s just something listless even when they win. There’s no star quality. Like even if you don’t care much at all about the Blue Jays, for instance, you probably stop to watch Bautista hit. There’s nothing like that going on with the Braves.

Matt Diaz is just so frustrating, it’s only been 2 games and he’s left 4 runner’s on base when were trailing already. Constanza comes into pinch hit for Livan Hernandez (Career 222. AVG) and bunts….. Also he K’d with a runner on 3rd with less than 2 outs in the 1st game. These players have had major impact in our 2 losses already.

2011-2012 Braves: First to Worst. There’s so many people I wanna thank! First Frank Wren for building a World-Class lineup of pansies. Second, for Good Ole Freddie Gonzalez, for believing that Matt Diaz is the “missing link”. And Third for Jason Heyward and Dan Uggla, for showing us that bad hitting is a gift from God that should never be augmented.

smallmouth6

April 7th, 2012
4:11 pm

This team needs an infusion, and I don’t mean more feel good stories abut Chipper getting closer to coming back. Or, it needs a seriously good sports shrink. When someone gets on base, this team goes into the can’t hit mode. Heyward hits a triple with no one on, strikes out with a chance to make something happen. Freeman hits into a double play after Uggla walks, but leads off an inning with a hit next time up. It goes on and on like this. This normally shouldn’t be a worry this early in the year, but we are watching the same team play the same way as they ended the season last year.

Excuse machine will be in full force for the 22nd time in the last 32 games…

1) Its early….
2) Gotta tip your cap…
3) Just couldn’t get the big hit…
4) They just got a one more hit than we did…

Facts: 1) Invent ways to not score 2) Lack of clutch hits 3) Can’t score without a HR 4) Poor at bats 5) Too many walks by the starter 6) Few hits to get rallies started…

Where am I wrong?

Not!

2 losses against the worst team in the division…chance to get swept too.
Unbelievable/depressing start to 2012. And don’t give me the “its early” or its only two games bull. This is 22 losses in 32 games period! Its not good!

A front office that intentionally has Costanza, Durbin, Livan and Diaz on the roster, and manager that uses ALL of them in crucial situations do not deserve to be supported. I’ve been a season ticket holder since 89, and seen it all, but this is fan abuse. They know better, and have the money to do something about it, and just refuse because mediocritiy is more profitable in the short term than success. I feel sorry for the players that have to go through it, and sorrier for the fans that pay to see it.

IT STARTS WITH THE MANAGER

The Braves would be fine with another manager at the helm, say if Bobby were back.

Bobby could motivate and did so, pulling verbally for his players at every at bat.

Fredi cannot; he just stands there — watching.

DetroitBraves

@smallmouth6, I’m going to agree with you to an extent except to say that while they don’t hit with runners in scoring position, they don’t really hit without runners in scoring position either. Today they were 0 for 4 with runners in scoring position, which means they only got 4 at-bats with runners able to get to scoring positions. Simply put, the Braves just don’t hit. Instead of getting better clutch hitters they just need better hitters, period.
