For those who missed J-Man’s post at 4AM(and you may have) go back and read it. It’s well worth the time as he “hit the target dead center”. May make some people mad, like AJC sportswriters, but it’s the truth. These are the same guys who were saying spring training games were no big deal when everyone was ranting, but now looks like we all knew what we were seeing and they didn’t.
Diaz in RF? Wilson at SS? Pastornicky is a kid, he does not need rest. Why is Francisco not at 3b and Prado in LF? It’s not fair to Prado to bounce him between 3b and LF. It’s crap like this Fredi…
parabrave: I look for someone that has a fire in his belly, under control but will fight in the drop of the hat if need be – thus you have John Smoltz.
Greg Maddox would ‘ MANDATE’ playing the game full speed or you would not be a brave or work for the Braves.
Chipper, without a doubt one of the all time great players and hitters, passion for the game is second to none.
The Mets are starting a left handed pitcher. I guess Francisco is only going to play against right handed starters. Any way isn’t Chipper coming back on Tuesday.
“Judging from your tone, you might want to consider getting a bike (motorcycle). Great way to relax.”
Sounds like you may need to ship your motorcycle on road trips, lol… No place like home. Unless your the Braves where home is where the playoff runs end.
Francisco hit lefties fine in the minors. Well, .269 anyhow. That glorious Diaz season was like 5 years ago or something. Just leave Prado in LF everyday, leave Diaz on the bench and play Francisco when Chipper needs a spell. Next season it’s Francisco v. Terdo for 3b, so, let’s see what we have.
A playoff contending team needs ballplayers who can hit righties and lefties, regardless of what side of the plate they hit from. I am tired of that excuse.
Well I have apparently become “The voice of reason”……..and thats sad lol. But the fact is Braves fans are upset with lackluster performance, not just from the team on the field but the front office and ownership. That 10 1/2 game choke job still resinates with Braves nation. And the fact that ownership did nothing to improve this team has mad an overwelming majority of Braves fans weary. In the entertain industry such as professional sports, perception soon becomes reality and soon we will see all-time attendance numbers. This team is not a exciting team and they lose. Which is a bad combination.

Don’t look now but the Braves are holding down last place in the standings. Looks rather weird but may stay this way the rest of the season. Washington and Houston on top, Phillies in the middle, and ATL and Miami on the bottom. Oh, guess FG is resting some of the “regulars” on Sunday like Cox use to do. After all it has been a long season so far. Also, think maybe he is looking at the first half of the year as an extension of spring training, and they will jack it up after the all star break. Those are the only games that really count anyway. Yep, I am full of SARCASM today!
How about next season? Can’t Prado be the everyday 3B. The Braves brought back Diaz last year ,why not try to bring back Francouer this year. He would be a definite improvement over what the Braves have in the outfield now. He has a reasonable contract and was a fan favorite ,before Bobby ran him out of town. Now that Bobby has retired maybe Francouer could come back,it would be better than this current bunch of talented but unmotivated outfielders the Braves have now.
Right, J-Man, and if the AJC writers were telling it like it is and putting some heat on LIKE THEY DO IN MOST MLB CITIES, then some changes might be made. The writers have direct contact with the fans and are our sounding boards. Doesn’t seem like this is getting passed on to the brass at the top. Everything is just “peachy” as far as they are concerned. I am still wondering if the AJC sports guys are going to let FG get away with what he said last night, or will check it out. Once again, he said, very emphatically that “most teams who score first win the game”. It would be interesting to know if that is correct or he just pulled it out of the air, as he does sometimes. I’m guessing it’s about 50-50. We can’t check with Elias Sports Bureau, but sportswriters can. How about it, DOB? Is that a fact or not? Inquiring minds would like to know.
Uggla is Prado’s problem. We spent what little money we had covering a position we already had covered. And by Uggla, I mean management, I don’t seem to dislike Uggla personally, but, he’s a high K all or nothing .260 hitter. Yes he has power, but I was cool with Prado hitting .310 from the 2b position.
I like Francisco, that pick-up has every potential to be a good one. His biggest problem was Dusty Baker. Just play him. Of course, with Uggla, we’d have two high-power high-K guys, but whatever, this is still a sketchy 3HR kinda offense.
Frenchy was a football player out of high school and saw very little minor league action. His problem was combining that lack of fundamentals with a hard head. If Heyward pans out, and I have not lost faith in him, RF is covered for 10 years.
The correct lineup, given what we have now is Prado in LF everyday, Jones/Francisco at 3b.
What I would give to trade Diaz for Gregor Blanco for that role.
The middle of the lineup is 0-fer the year? Folks, that won’t hold. We’re going to see some runs. Actually, we’ve been mediocre on the mound for much of the spring. That’s the biggest issue I’ve seen. We need to have our starters pitch to contract, get in and out of innings, and save the pen. This bullpen is lights out money. We get the game into the 7th and 8th with a lead…. Going to win a lot of games.
Would like to see someone added to the lineup. We can’t count on Chipper, dude can barely get from the dugout to third base on those wheels.
Just now watching yesterday’s game, since I don’t have cable TV. Nice snare by Francisco on Wright’s liner in the 8th. We have the 3b platoon covered with this guy. Just let him play.

Name one current Braves outfielder who had a better season than Frenchy had last year. He mouthed off to Cox and Bobby ran him off . He damn sure did not improve the team by getting some washed up player from the Mets who now out of baseball .
I have never seen so many bandwagon jumping crybabies in all my life. You only support when things are going great. Another example of “everybody should get a trophy, and if it’s my fault, it isn’t” mentality. Yeah, it’s time to panic!!!! Only 160 games to go!!! You Johnny come lateleys are so spoiled. If you werent around for the Braves in the 70s and 80s, I really don’t want to hear you bitching about a bad team.
I’ve been a fan since 1979. Loved Garry Mathews. Thought Bob Horner was the answer. Witness the Len Barker deal go down in real time, was running around Peachtree Street drunk in 1991, crying when the Yankees busted us up, twice, and watched in horror as the Astros, Giants and Cubs all sent the Braves home early in the playoffs. So, you have to put up with my kvetching.
Thanks Mr Collins..I was there in 60 until now…u taking a lot for granted by saying bandwagon, crybabies like we don’t care.If you don’t like the bitching don’t read..take your wife out to eat and play with the kids. When did you become the Braves fan judge?
Get a life.
I don’t know if it is cool, horrible, or embarassing but in the 3rd inning of the third game of the season I am still tied for second on the Braves in RBI and tied for first in hits with RISP.
I have faith in Heyward. Too many people in his ear. He’s gonna walk. Let him get back to swinging at his pitch and he’ll be fine. Every busts on him, but they forget how electric he can be. He’s freaking 22 years old.
Anything to get management to take the horse behind the barn, because UNLESS there’s a change there will be AT LEAST 90 more of these cluster games we’ll get to “enjoy” this season en route to a fine draft position next June.
Spring training made no difference — this has just been games 163, 164 and 165 of 2011.
@ Who Me? …….Its my fault I just opened Pandora’s Box by point out the way the Atlanta media coddles Fredi Gonzalez. And I pointed the people are Fed up with Fredi
Collins
Been a Braves fan since ‘66 ,I remember when the Braves Bandwagon had no wheels. But this current group of Braves seem to have that entitled air to them that you mention in your previous post. There is no one held accountable for their lackluster performance. They don’t do the small things that winning teams do to score runs .They swing for the fences when just making contact can score a run.
@ Who Me? …….Its my fault I just opened Pandora’s Box by pointing out the way the Atlanta media coddles Fredi Gonzalez. And I pointed the people are Fed up with Fredi. Besides he wouldnt be getting mad like this if there wasnt truth to what I’m saying, because people come in here all the time and ramble, myself included. But DOB tends to ignore them as he should when they have no relevant point. But I do and he doesnt like it.
Coming up next: Fredi weighs in on the 2012 presidential race and the Trayvon Martin situation. Beth Keener reads a tweet from Kelli G “woo hoo go braves u r awsum”
Anything but real managing and real critique and analysis of baseball. This franchise is fast on its way to jokedom.
Fedi has enough of his own issues to worry about, and should have told whomever asked him about basketball as much.
The Braves can’t score against the Mets without a HR, and have sored 2 runs in 20 innings against the team most so called experts picked to finish last in the division, and he wants to so he has a pair in responding to something that has nothing to do with his game.
To be fair, pitching has been very strong for the first weekend of the year, but the hitting has been non-existence in all areas since July of last year.
When did the Braves stop winning games? When they traded for that no hitting back up shortstop, who has never played in a playoff game, Wilson. FW brought him back and the trend continued thru spring training and now into the season against a weak Mets team.
Mister Frisky is right about the no no. Do you think the other Mets players are already avoiding Niece in the dugout since they know it is a real possiblity with this Braves lineup?
Judging from your tone, you might want to consider getting a bike (motorcycle). Great way to relax.
Thanks for your concern – I have a ‘55 pan, ‘93 FXRP, and ‘01 FLHRPI. They are most relaxing. Judging from your tone, I am going to assume you are on the road without one. Shame – seems like you couild unwind a bit yourself.

I don’t know if it is cool, horrible, or embarassing but in the 3rd inning of the third game of the season I am still tied for second on the Braves in RBI and tied for first in hits with RISP.
All from the comfort of my easy chair!
Oh and Heyward has a hitch in his swing.

I have faith in Heyward. Too many people in his ear. He’s gonna walk. Let him get back to swinging at his pitch and he’ll be fine. Every busts on him, but they forget how electric he can be. He’s freaking 22 years old.

This has no-hitter written all over it.

Minor backed off Tejada and let him get away, but he has looked good since then. Going after the hitters now.

If Mauchzalez announces at a news conference tomorrow that a bunch of us want him out, I’m sure all of us wouldn’t mind showing up to CONFIRM that.
Unlike that wussy Dwight Howard did with Van Gundy.
