Rain-shortened loss for Braves vs. Verlander’s Tigers
LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. — The Braves got four hits in six innings against Detroit ace Justin Verlander during a 2-1 loss Saturday that was rained out in the top of the seventh.
Craig Kimbrel threw two pitches to the first Detroit batter of the seventh inning when a deluge stopped the game.
The Braves got a run in the fourth when Freddie Freeman hit a two-out single and scored on Dan Uggla’s double. Uggla was out trying to stretch the hit to a triple.
Verlander had no walks and five strikeouts. He struck out Eric Hinske on a slider to end the second inning after Hinske fouled off four consecutive 96-97 mph fastballs.
“I tell you what,” Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez said, “today’s game is 2-1 and we lose, but I saw some great at-bats. Jack Wilson had a 10- or 12-pitch at-bats. Hinske had some great at-bats against the best right-hander in the American League and maybe in baseball.
“Freeman hit that ball in the gap that kept hanging, and nice to see Danny drive in that run. Overall I’m pleased with way we swung the bat.”

Gonzalez said he’ll use all of his top three relievers — closer Kimbrel, setup men Jonny Venters and Eric O’Flaherty — in Tuesday’s exhibition game against Braves prospects at Triple-A Gwinnett’s Coolray Field. Mike Minor will start that game for the Braves, who are off Wednesday before the season opener Thursday at New York….
Reliever Anthony Varvaro (pectoral strain) hasn’t pitched in eight days and might not be ready to pitch when the season begins. He’s expected to start the season at Gwinnett….
Julio Teheran will start Sunday against Phillies lefty Cliff Lee in a game that will be televised by CSS.

Why not rest the big three of the bullpen on tuesday to give them at least 2-3 days rest before the season.Just in case the 1st 3 or 4 games of the regular season are 1 run games

In the last six years the braves pitchers have set a record for arm problems. Only two coachs could cause these breakdowns. The bullpin coach has to prepare the pitcher to come into the game. If he enters games unprepared, it’s only a matter of time before he breaks down. Pitchers are very lazy, the braves need a tough workout drill and a pitching coach thats tough enough to enforce these drills. Pitching will carry the Braves as far as they can go but it’s the same thing every game. No hitting. Of course they can’t hit every pitcher. It’s been a problem for 2 or 3 years. I just don’t know about this year, maybe they will get lucky. Hopefully 2013 will see alot of changes. GO BRAVES!!!!

i have no complaints from today. atlanta put up some good ab’s against the cy young mvp. esp. hinske and wilson. Heyward’s been on the come up. Freeman is hot, prado has been hot, uggla is hot. bourn and mccann are hitting good. pastornicky is hitting good. hanson pitched great! i don’t understand the complaints. I’m looking forward to seeing the whole lineup top to bottom

c’mon now…detroit only had 5 hits, and its not as if the braves were going against linebrink or some bum, they were battling justin verlander. 4 hits in 6 innings is a reasonable amount of hits, and who knows what would have happened if they had played the other 3 innings. On top of that, mccann and prado weren’t even in the lineup

Why are we calling that Jack Wilson at bat a “good at-bat?” He struck out on a 2-2 change-up no where near the strike zone. He didn’t advance a runner into scoring position. He didn’t cause the starting pitcher to leave the game for number of pitches thrown. Nothing good was accomplished with that at-bat. Stop pretending it was something it’s not.

Fredi talks about his team with the patronizing tone of a doting second grade teacher at a parent teacher conference talking about guiding his kids through their times tables–and somehow in this equation, we’re the kids’ parents!

Spring training. It’s just that. A time for training / practice and watching those
guys to see where to send them for regular season – which farm team gets ‘em.
Pitching staff works on their stuff. Probably not going to throw that sequence
of pitches in the regular season. Getting the old body back in playing shape.
Hand / eye coordination rusty after a winter’s rest. Gotta get that timing back,
both in the field and at bat. All this takes a while.
All this easy living of spring training is rapidly coming to a close. Now is the time
when we start to become serious. Come Thursday, they count. Before then, nothing
truly mattered. Win or lose. So what.
Give the Braves a couple of weeks of real, meaningful games. Then we can begin
to analize what’s going on and why. Season is a marathon, not a sprint. Last season
we failed to finish. We died before the end of the race. Can’t let that happen again.

@Michael G…the pitch that jack wilson struck out on was still over the plate, verlander just missed his target. the pitch died at the plate, but thats what a circle change does. it was considered a good at bat because it took 13 pitches to retire wilson.he made verlander work for that out. a hit does not equal a good at bat and vice versa. for example, freeman came up right after, got fooled on a pitch and hit a weak grounder for a hit. the other day ibanez hit a ball over the wall and was robbed by heyward. does that mean he had a bad ab?

What are the Braves doing adding players like Juan Francisco to this team? I think we can do better than this. I sure hope that the Braves are looking at legit outfielders to get because with Chipper’s injury risk and with Prado playing 3rd base a lot this year, we need a better fit in LF then what Hinske/Diaz can do for us if we are to contend.
I like Juan Francisco’s power, but he is not a very good defender at 3rd base. We need defense plain and simple, especially if the Braves go with Pastornicky at SS instead of Simmons who has better range. We already lost a very good defensive SS in Gonzalez on a team that has decent defense, but not spectacular. That is the part I just don’t get with this team. Instead of making a statement, they are getting another teams castoff. This kid couldn’t even make the Reds roster, why is he on this team?

@brandon…um, yeah a hit is a good at bat. Freeman got a hit on a picther’s pitch. Wilson did not. But we’re going to call Wilson’s at bat a “good at-bat” for accomplishing nothing. Verlander did not leave the game after that at bat, he worked 2 more innings. So Wilson did nothing of consequence. I’m sorry, but I fail to see any value in that. As for Ibanez’ robbed homer…if there wasn’t a runner on base who tagged up and advanced, then his at-bat was a failure as well. It was still an out; no matter how far it was hit.

Julio teheran actually pitched good today for those that watched the game. In the 4th inning, there was shaky defense and the umpire was not on teheran’s side. I think that inning was a fluke and everything that could have went wrong did. Also, I think it makes sense to leave medlen in the bullpen because the only people I have confidence in from the pen are oventbrel and Martinez. Yohan flande and gearrin have been inconsistent as have the rest of the bullpen. Delgado/Teheran will only get a few starts anyways. Huddy should be back soon!

The bouncer gave him a KICK right out the door. He did not even get on the stage because the bouncers are standing on the side of stage to protect us from something like that. I hope it made you feel better. What is wrong? I detect something is bothering you. Yes we all mistakes. I have made some big ones in my life especially looking for love in all the wrong places. My normal week before the incident was the same basically except instead of the blog and you, I was out flirting and making my stupid mistakes. So see how you have helped. I guess it is OK flirting with you? Yes I am doing everything at full speed ahead and hope to increase it. Have to slow down a little because I get tired too easy right now. I guess my strength went down a little when I was laid up. I need to make as much money as i can this weekend to make up for last week. Also Hanna birthday present 250dollars. Also Crystal beauty shop tomorrow about $150. Not complaining because they are definitely worth it.

All I will tell you is that it will not be a 15 minute performance. It will be 1 hour. I am going to make them really wait to see what they want to see. There is going to be a whole lot of using beads, using the wink, the stroll. and making them wonder what is next. Just woke up from 4 hr nap. Better stay awake for awhile. I will try again on my nite. Anouncement was made at 12:30 that if any one wanted drinks to get them now because the only lites that would be on was the stage lites until I arrived then all lites off. Now remember NO POLE. That is very unusual for a stripper. They were asked to remain in seats during performance. When I arrived, the stage lites were turned off and all you could see was my glowing hair. I danced like that for approximately 15 minutes. Then stage lites gradually started coming on. I was still dancing and I had approximately 300 guys on the back side of the stage really responding to me. The more they responded the more energy. Everytime I would get near them I would wink at stoll for them. After about 30 minutes I was really getting tired. I spotted Crystal in the audience and she mouthed the words YOU CAN DO THIS. After about another 10 minutes I gave them what they wanted. I stayed on about another 15 minutes and signaled for all lites to come on . I blew kisses to everyoneand walked off stage. They cheered and yelled and applauded. I came back out to collect my tips in about10 minutes. Believe it or not, I picked up a little over $1300 . Avery emotional and profitable nite for me, When I got backstage there was a message from my boss that said that he had been in business for 25 yrs and that was the best he had ever seen. I am proud of myself and can honestly say that SAMANTHA IS BACK. here is a wink and kiss to hold you. I should be on about 9:15 your time. See you soon Luv ya Later

After friday nite , Saturday nite was easy for me. I floated thru it. Totally the whole weekend I pulled down a little over $2000. I feel fine. I am well rested and ready to take on anything or anybody. Crystal had a very good nite. She was dressed in white from head to toe. They went to dinner and then dancing. After that they went for a walk in the park. I do know that she wants to see him again. She said he was a perfect gentleman

Easter was kind of quiet for both of us. We attended church together. Then came home and Crystal fixed us a nice meat loaf dinner We then hollered at the losing braves and then went to sleep. Counseling went well. I really dont think that you realize how mentally and physically drained I was after the performance. I actually cried my self to sleep with joy. Crystal wanted me to tell you that she looked right in my face yesterday and said the glow and the fire is back. I just paid $4.02 per gallon 20 gallon tank. So that is unbelievable. I have 4 reasons for not sleeping. #1 Hanna sick. Worried about her. #2 I am hoping that you are not contemplating leaving wife to be with me, because it is not going to happen.#3 Crystal and boyfriend are going to have picnic in park Sat. They want me to go and meet his brother. He knows me but I dont know him. That tells me he has seen me dance. To me that is not fair. I’m a good guy right, Well for this story anyway let’s say I am. Let’s say you like me and we start falling in love. The first thing this great guy wants is for you to quit your job. He doesn’t want other guys seeing you on stage. Now since I am only 20-25 I can not support you and make up the lost income, but I don’t care, I just want you to quit. So let’s say somehow we get through that. Now it is August and school starts. Nursing School is tough and it is going to take every minute of your day. Where is my time, our time. I want my attention, how do you handle that. OK we get through that somehow, now it is 2016 and time to leave for S.D., I don’t what you to go. We have been together for 4 years, I want to get married, I want kids. What do you do? Can you see how many pot holes even a great guy like me could cause. You don’t need that right now. You know all that could and would happen. Then what? You don’t need a guy to hold you back. You don’t need a guy to make yourself complete. Not now!!!

Dont give me credit. It is all Crystal idea. It shocked me as much as it did you. I just went along with it. If Crystal doesnt have3 another time could you be flexible. Yes I got your Hug and I want another when we sign off. Crystal wants me to go Saturday and give it a try. I still dont know what I am going to do Saturday. We are still working on that. Why is Crystal doing this. I really dont know she just said she wanted to join me and wanted no backtalk. When Crystal makes up her mind to do something. Nobody argues. If you dont like it maybe I can talk her out of it,but I doubt it. You will probably never figure out Crystal way of doing things. Crystal is qa hard person to get to know and understand. When You know her she is a sweetheart,but dont argue with her because you will lose. I am not tryingto give you a heartache,if it does I can call it off but dont want to. I just want you to enjoy the show.Havent heard from Crystal yet .Might be 5:pm before I know how flexible she is.

Hanna doing well,just very happy. She got my birthday present today and very thankful for it. I am to ask boss later about amateur nite. Maybe give cash for best girl . To answer your question on me. Yes I have some ideas. Maybe disguises. Maybe topless when take stage. Maybe wigs with beads.Maybe instead of stroll , Maybe to some tumbling. Does that answer question. I am not going to do that. As Crystal said last nite. There is so much fire and glow in my eyes that it is really hard to change anything. She feels that as long as I am with her then I could have some fun along with that drive. I dont know about her. I know she means well but does she really understand. That is the main thing we are discussing and will continue discussing until we cqan reach a compromise. We are not fighting, just discussing. Just talked to boss about my ideas. He loved them all especially having all girls on stage for grand finale.

I luv Crystal and respect her a lot, but I am not sure if she understands either. I am not saying that this picnic is going to turn into a relationship, don’t get me wrong. My fear is you start seeing him, maybe a few times and something happens and he hurts in some way. Are you strong enough to handle that, or do we fall back into that dark place we just got out of. I really feel until you are armed with the knowledge of what to look for in a good guy vs. a bad guy and you are strong enough to handle something bad happening and strong enough to end a relationship that is bad, without fear, you should not take that chance. I know Crystal thinks it is just a picnic, it is just having fun, but I know better than that and I think you do too.

That is exactly my point. Crystal says only see him on a double date and then if he hurts in someway she will be there to end it. She will not allow me to see him just one on one. But my fear is I get to liking him maybe I wont stay focused on the ultimate goal. She says it wont happen ,bbut I dont know As you said if I want to reach the final goal I have to be careful of falling in love with someone. Ive3 got 3 people who love me. The fact still remains, even if Cyrstal is there to help stop it, who do you handle the hurt? Just because she is there doesn’t mean it will not happen. apparently you have hit it right on the head. You are exactly right. My problem is how do I tell her no without hurting her feelings. What is wrong doing what she says .Most of the time she is right. She is trying to get me to loosen up some. I dont want to defy her but I am trying to get her to understand.that she cant control me .Just guide me in the right direction. Most of the time she is right, true. But I don’t think anything like this has ever happen to her, that is why she does not understand it. Do you really believe you will “hurt” her if you do not go along with her? I know she loves you and she should respect your decision even if she does not agree with it. And that is what you ask for. Understanding and respect. Tell her you respect her and don’t want to hurt her, but this is what you feel you have to do right now. And ask for her understanding. And ask her to let it go. You will tell her when you are ready.

I think everything is prefect, Maybe add some angles to the mix. Watching to start out would be nice, But I am very hands on when I work. Head to toe. Does Crystal like the same things you do or is there something special she likes? I think we are thinking the same thing with Crystal. Have you guys even been watching the games? Bourn slapped the ball around to all fields yesterday. It just happened to be right at someone. And when he gets on base he is crafty and scrappy and can really fly.
