Bethancourt, Terdo, Gilmartin on Bobby Cox’s “Futures Team”

VIERA, Fla. – Bobby Cox will have plenty of top prospects to choose from (and new nicknames to create in a hurry) when the former Braves skipper manages the “Futures Team” against the current Braves Tuesday night at Triple-A Gwinnett’s Coolray Field.

Cox’s team will feature several prospects who made strong impressions this year in major league camp, including catcher Christian Bethancourt, third baseman Joey Terdoslavich and left-handed starter Sean Gilmartin. Terdoslavich will begin the season at Gwinnett, while Bethancourt and Gilmartin will be at Double-A Mississippi.

Other notable prospects include outfielders Matt Lipka (high-A Lynchburg) and Todd Cunningham (Double-A Missisippi), catcher Evan Gattis (Lynchburg), third basemen Edward Salcedo (Lynchburg) and Brandon Drury (Class-A Rome), and Gwinnett right-handers J.J. Hoover and Jaye Chapman.

Others on the 25-man Futures roster include lefties Luis Avilan (MIS), Ryan Buchter (MIS), Matt Chaffee (LYN) and Ronan Pacheco (LYN); righties J.R. Graham (LYN), David Hale (MIS), Mark Lamm (MIS) and Gus Schlosser (LYN); infielders Nick Ahmed (LYN), William Beckwith (ROM), Phil Gosselin (MIS), Tommy La Stella (LYN) and Elmer Reyes (ROM); and outfielders Adam Milligan (MIS) and David Rohm (LYN).

What did they tell these guys? “Ok boys, today you will get a lesson on how not to manage a baseball game” I guess it’s like when you show a child the symbol on a container that means “poison” and tell him never to mess with anything that bears that symbol. There can be no other justifiable reason for exposing any player who is felt to have true future major league ability to the stupidity that IS Bobby Cox

Robert, get over it already, will ya? We know how you feel about Bobby Cox, let it go…it’ll be okay. Now, pull up your big boy pants and go play outstide and let the adults speak. I”m ready for the regulat season…can’t wait to see what this team does. The team is capable of having a great season and going into the post season…it’ll be fun to watch and see what happens!

Since Leo Mazzone won fourteen division titles, what harm would it do to give him another chance. DO SOMETHING, ANYTHING, LET THE FANS KNOW YOU ARE STILL BREATHING.

I hope Joey T realizes that this may be the year he gets to step on the field with the big boys and steps it up another notch.

Robert, if you have even reached the lower tier of achievement in your own profession, let us hear about it… Bobby Cox will soon be in the BASEBALL HALL OF FAME, while you, I imagine, will be a candidate for the Armchair/Crybaby/ Blubberer/Girlie-boy HOF… what a total asswipe…

Leo Mazzone won NOTHING… any coach with that staff would’ve looked good… Mazzone went straight to the bottom after he left theBraves… You idiots place way, way too much credit/blame on coaches and managers… Just another example of the lack of any understanding about the game of baseball… what a bunch of tools…

Hi Dave -

Any likelihood we will see Terdo with the A-Braves this year if Chipper runs into more injury problems? Thanks

imagine how good the team would be if the Braves drafted based on talent, not cost. the Braves paid only one draftee over slot in 2011, out of (app.) 35 signees. really discouraging .
forget the upside, let’s switch to mostly college guys who’ll have less leverage is their latest MO.
do you think that scouting directors Roy Clark and Kurt Kemp left for no reason ?

Frank Wren is a genius. He signed Livan Hernandez. Is it a bad sign when we’re signing guys that the Astros are releasing?

I guess it was just a coincident that during the fourteen year run none of the braves pitching staff broke down. After Leo left Glavine and Smoltz both broke down. Mazzone never got any credit because most idiot’s don’t understand what it takes to keep a pitching staff healthy.

Leo was a part of a succesful TEAM effort.

That’s what gets it done.

FG couldn’t motivate a team of third graders to even leave the dugout…
