Braves will start Beachy on Wednesday, Minor on Thursday, Delgado home/Jurrjens road in split squad Friday, and Hanson Saturday
Sorry to break up your streak Jimmy…Coach’s non-argument, argument with multiple links is very convincing. But Mantle and AJones comparisons are laughable at best.
Coach; You are right, with Mickey only having won 3 MVP’s, finishing 2nd two more times and a third, with Andruw having impressively won NO MVP’s, you have changed all of our minds.
I feel bad for the bloggers that can’t enjoy the game or think positively about anything unless it all results in a championship. Must be depressing waking up every morning and looking at yourself in the mirror. Probably makes it even worse when you remember you’re still living in your parent’s basement!!!
DOB, why not Vladimir Guerrero to platoon with Hinske? Is that too much of a defensive stretch? Also it seems that the Angels would consider parting with Torri Hunter or Bobby Abreu. I think the greatest fit would be Franklin Guitierrez!!
Uh, Express Oil Change ads – I used them a few times last year. But when I had my oil changed at NTB yesterday, they told me that the last place where I had it done had only hand-tightened my oil filter. Guess where my last oil change was. Yep, Express Oil Change. Not going back there, no matter how many runs our guys score.
Amanda Comak @acomak
Gio Gonzalez’s day is over after 5 innings, 7 hits, 3 ER, 1 walk and 6 strikeouts. Retired 7 of the last 8 he faced. #nats down 3-1
Braves haven’t said yet, but looks to me like Hanson in opener, Jurrjens, Minor, Beachy, Hanson again, Delgado in Game 6 and Jurrjens in home opener. But that’s just guessing based on how rotation is lined up this week and using the off day after opener, which would allow Braves to bring back Hanson on regular rest in Game 5.
Just put my vote in for a 1st place finish for the Braves this year like I’ve been saying all along. Not going to repeat why once again but this team was one of the best last year before the last month and a half without Bourn, a bad Uggla for entire 1st half, a hurt and bad Heyward, a hurt Prado, McCann, and top end starters. I don’t care what the pessimistic muppets say.
BravePack, truth is, the same people were saying the Braves would struggle all season this time a year ago. They were one of the best in the league almost the whole season. It means absolutely nothing what anybody says anyway, they have the power.
I’d like to see the Braves give Luis Durango a good amount of playing time in LF while Chipper is out. Still have Diaz/Hinske/Parraz as options. Braves should see how they start the season before making a trade.
“we have to wait and give the kid some time to get used to his new mechanics”
Think we’ll be saying that in June? Makes me dizzy and ill, but I won’t be surprised at all if he’s a dud. At least a dud until a some yers down the road when he might finally get it all figured out. He’s still only 22.
I guess we’re seeing early signs again that the big three will be ran out there until their arms collectively fall off. This is why Medlin needs to be in the pen, no matter how much you’d like him to be a starter. Because outside the big 3 our bullpen stinks. If Vizcaino and Moylan weren’t hurt it would be a different story, but right now you need Medlin in the pen regardless.
HEYWARD SUCKS. He is garbage. Even Parraz has out played the chosen one. How does getting rid of Jeff Francouer look now!!!!
The guy is a bust. Please Frank, ship him and JJ out. Get anything for them.
Im not affraid to say it. The Nats are better than our Braves. Even the Marlins may be better depending if Josh Johnson is healthy. Time to blow this team up and get prospects. Even if that means letting McCann go. Mac is not gettting younger and will be best suited for the DH.
BLOW THIS TEAM UP. THEY ALREADY BLEW THIER CHANCE!!!! BLOW THIS TEAM UP
Ooooh, goody. Perhaps you have time to explain it to me, like I’m a four-year-old. I’d like that.
That’s assuming, of course, that you can find any actually good reasons for your take on the situation. But I’m betting you’re practically bubbling over to explain it, so school me, if you would.
Those are horrific numbers by Jason this spring. Sad. The situation he was in heading into the spring after last years disappointment and how hard he apparantly worked over the winter, he shouldn’t have such awful numbers against mostly minor league pitchers and rusty major leaguers. Spring ball is winding down and his production has done the same as it’s gone on. That’s not good, at all.
Think we’ll be saying that in June? Makes me dizzy and ill, but I won’t be surprised at all if he’s a dud. At least a dud until a some yers down the road when he might finally get it all figured out.
I agree. We’ll see. But I’m definitely not expecting much from him. I’ll be expecting similar numbers to those from last year until he proves me wrong.
You’re lying if you say you aren’t worried about JHey. Everybody wants him to be the next Chipper or McCann, but his progress may take a while. Numbers don’t lie, he is fighting it pretty bad. Braves have to be searching for some help about now because that kid is a huge piece to our lineup.
I’m sorry I keep on about poor Jason’s struggles, but when I think of the Braves this year he’s the very first image I think of. I think he’s that important to us. 60 plus at bats this spring and 11 hits with 3 BB and 17 K. We should all be worried.

In 2011’s ST, J. Heyward went 16-for-45, 4 2B, 1 HR, 5 RBI, 10 BB, 11 SO and a .356/.508./.511 line.
This year: 11-for-60, 2 2B, 2 HR, 8 RBI, 3 BB, 17 SO and a .183/.222/.317 line. (not including today)
