Impressed with Beachy today, battling back after a shaky start. Impressed with the clutch HR from Heyward, not so much with the 2 K’s.

Simmons didn’t do himself any favors. Error, 0-4… I wish one of the SS prospects was playing like he wanted to win the job instead of playing like he’s scared to lose it.

Nice tie and sounds like Heyward had a great game…made some clutch plays today…very good sign.

Also Freeman continued to rake and Beachy settled down and only gave up 2 earned runs. Team is getting prepared for the regular season and starting to come together.

Might be neither of those things. Might be that each is playing as hard as he can, just that neither is quite as good, in a small sample, as one might desire. In other words, Simmons might just not be ready, and The Rev only marginally moreso.

Okay…I’m feeling a little better about the Bravos and beginning to think Coach Fredi is a shrewd one.

In checking Spring Training stats, our key players (Uggla, Prado) are near the top in their respective hitting categories and now we have Freeman really warming up nicely. Bourne is definitely doing his job as well.

Other than the filling in for Huddy, the pitching is coming along nicely. If Jurriens comes about soon, we’ll be super strong there again this year. My take on Huddy’s fill-in would be to put Medlen there. He’s proven he can get batters out better than the two rookies.

Here’s to a great year!!!

I doubt very seriously that lack of motivation is what killed this team in September of last season. A lot of things came together to destroy that team down the stretch. Why are we talking about Bobby Abreu?

Kendrys Morales is the fly in the ointment. Albert Pujols and Mark Trumbo are going to split time at 1st base and DH. Vernon Wells, Bobby Abreu, Torii Hunter and Mike Trout are stacked in the outfield. Leaving little to no playing time for Morales.

Dude is there for the taking as he is expendable, and the Angels don’t need his bat.

What some of you are discussing about possible signings or trades is an indication of how far this organization has fallen in the last several years. During the run, we made trades for players with good years left in them. Now, we consider has beens and never weres. Sounds too much like the Braves that acquired the likes of Jimmy Wynn, Andy Messersmith, and Bruce Sutter. You can even look at the acquisition of Jeff Reardon in 1992 to see what happens when you pursue retreads. I’d like to see the Braves going after the Crime Dogs and Denny Neagles of the world than the Len Barkers. But I dream. It’s not gonna happen.

They are going to move those pieces in and out of the lineup down there to keep as many of them sharp as they can. Obviously Trumbo has shown he is not capable of handling third base, but when you look at the age of their outfield, I think they’d be foolish to deal Trumbo or Morales unless they get a legit third baseman in return.

Not… one… single… serviceable… OF… in… the… ENTIRE… organization… that can fill the spot. Diaz for a whole season is a pipe dream on par with Chipper’s good health in 2012 – just a dream.
