Honestly, it’s not really a big problem unless the Giants are in town. I’ve never felt unsafe there…but you could clearly see the efforts to step up security after the assault last year…

DOB (March 28th, 2012 2:12 pm): ” ‘DOB: Didn’t you say in earlier blogs that you thought that even with all the FA signings, the Braves would probably finish 2nd? Correct me if I’m wrong, of course, but I’m interested to know what you felt put the Nationals over the top? — Zing’

“Am I not allowed to change my opinion after actually watching the teams play this spring? Because that’s what I did. Sorry if that doesn’t fit your agenda.”

I had 2 tell someone so why not everyone on this blog… My girlfriend and I are getting married July 7th and have a great honeymoon planned in Atlantic City. however when I was making all the reservations I found out that the closest airport to AC that we could fly to was in Philly. So for the heck of it I checked to see who the Braves play on July 8th and yeah, you guessed it… Atlanta in Philly last game before the All-Star break… Now I have the beach, casinos, and a Braves game in a visitor stadium… This whole mariage thing may be worth it… lol

Finally found something official on Moylan. I knew I had read he signed but couldn’t confirm it. This does.

On January 16, 2012, the Braves re-signed Moylan to a minor-league deal worth approximately $1 million. The deal is on a prorated basis for time spent in the majors and includes an invitation to spring training.

Richard

Lots of Tex comments. 25% of the salary would be commited to 1B as opposed to an injured AA pitcher and a Cleveland Indian.

The money spent on those two pitchers for the first four years, after this year, Chipper’s 12 million is off the books. Don’t resign Hudson because of the young arms and you’ve made up the difference.

I hadn’t heard that Tex didn’t want to stay. Is that fact or speculation? He did play at GT you know, so he’s kinda homegrown.

Anyway, it’s irrelevant becuase it’s in the past now. I just hate that a team with the limited budget like the Braves blew so much on those worthless pitchers. I don’t care what you say, no pitcher with a 4+ ERA is worth 15mil. Beachy put up much better numbers for the league minimum.

Sat behind 3 little old ladies, 3rd row behind the dugout on the 1st base side. They were season ticket holders and, at first, were really sweet. Then they got a few beers in them and turned downright nasty. One of them kept calling me a motherf’er… “We’d be having a lot more fun if we didn’t have this mf’er sitting behind us. Agree with Murph’s comments on Wrigley. I wore my Braves cap to a couple of games there a few years ago and had no problems. The second day we were sitting in the bleachers, this was the last year that Greg Maddux played (he was with the Dodgers then, that’s who the Cubs were playing) and there was a pretty big Braves contingent sitting to my right. Anyway, Maddux was out in the outfield catching BP and he saw us, came over and talked us, signed balls, etc. One of my all time favorite game moments, there.

Richard – The Braves had no way of predicting those two pitchers were going to be such disasters (Except for Lowe’s 2010’s September). They, at the time, had a need for pitching. And to fulfill that need, a lot of money had to be used because the market for pitching was thin and there were other teams looking for some.
