MIBravesFan, Soph: Thanks.
Soph, as Seth Davis pointed out, real difference for Kansas was in rebounds (+9 against UNC team that led the nation in that category) and at the free-throw line (+9 free throws made).
This is one of the two or three least-talented KU teams in the past 15 years, but they’re as tough as any Kansas team has been.
Yes, I wasn’t ballgaming the other teams, just sharing my thoughts.
March 25th, 20127:22 pm
Me too, George. Hope he comes back next season. Kentucky had quite a scare when Anthony Davis went down in their game but I read he’s okay.
March 25th, 20127:23 pm
Just saw ad on the side ATLANTA has final 4. I did not know that.
March 25th, 20127:24 pm
I think the Final Four is in New Orleans, George. The regional finals were here this weekend.
March 25th, 20127:26 pm
THanks Soph, that was a old ad they did not take down.
March 25th, 20127:31 pm
In colage ball there is way to much “one year and out to the NBA” I liked it when you could see the same kids 3 or 4 years.

Yes, I wasn’t ballgaming the other teams, just sharing my thoughts.”
I didn’t mean my comment to sound that way. You’re probably right about the outcome of the Final Four. But it’s just good to see them actually play the games. NC State’s win comes to mind. And the people on the blog throwing the Braves under the bus before one major league game has been played . . . .
March 25th, 20127:33 pm
Sorry, Soph – tough last 4 minutes…
March 25th, 20127:43 pm
No worries, MIBF. You’re right because upsets happen all the time.
March 25th, 20127:47 pm
Yeah they completely fell apart in the last few minutes, VJ. It was a really fun game for most of it though.
March 25th, 20127:49 pm
Not sure if it has been posted, but Joet T sayid he was playing Gwinett thus AAA Season
March 25th, 20127:53 pm
@JoeTerdoslavich: Excited to be starting in Gwinnet this year. Excited for the season to start
March 25th, 20128:00 pm
jumping him to AAA huh? not so sure that is a great idea
March 25th, 20128:07 pm
Same with Simmons jumping AA and AAA not a good idea and Terdoslavich was looking like a MLB player and Simmons was hitting like an A ball player
March 25th, 20128:08 pm
I’m heading back to LBV tpfor final week
March 25th, 20128:16 pm
VJ – about the Bruce song – thanks again (as always!)
March 25th, 20128:21 pm
March 25th, 20128:28 pm
I’ll be kinda surprised if Simmons sticks
March 25th, 20128:29 pm
Day off tomorrow. One more week of Spring Training.
March 25th, 20128:31 pm
If the April schedule is a “cake schedule” (as TH likes to say), then it may give the Braves a chance to get some guys healthy and get some slow starters a little more polish. Could be just what the Braves need.
March 25th, 20128:33 pm
I’m SOOO ready for this season to start!
March 25th, 20128:36 pm
me too, I caint wait till I get to type my first BALLGAME! of the season….
March 25th, 20128:39 pm
21 minutes to “Mad Men” . . . .
March 25th, 20128:41 pm
You’ll have lots of competition for that, noles. Seems there are a lot more gloomy people out there these days.
March 25th, 20128:43 pm
I HATE Mad Men. Most overrated show on TV along with American Idol
March 25th, 20128:44 pm
I already miss TWD.
March 25th, 20128:46 pm
That’s because you were Robert Morse’s age when the series was supposed to be taking place…
March 25th, 20128:47 pm
I miss TWD, too, Soph.
Waffle House or Bust
March 25th, 20128:48 pm
Did Uggla have a good spring last year? If so, I’m scared because we all know what happened in the regular season. If I were fat Fredi I would go ahead and start a set lineup so the guys can get used to that before opening day. I feel like that was a problem last year. Too much mixing things up. The Phillies don’t do that. They stick with a lineup and ride the highs then wait out the lows of batting order.
March 25th, 20128:51 pm
I coulda succeeded in business, but I never really tried….
March 25th, 20128:55 pm
plus there was The Loved One
Good for you that you did not become a robber baron, nolie! ‘Don” isn’t, either.
March 25th, 20128:58 pm
noleee, 2 words re Mad Men: Christina Hendricks. She’s worth the price of admission anywhere. Her only problem is she’s probably one of those women who looks better dressed than undressed. But she looks smashing in any dress.
We’ll play it the company way…
McFann :Ô: :Ô: :ô:
March 25th, 20129:02 pm
Yay!! Girl from Georgia won Cupcake Wars!!
Doesn’t often happen that the one we root for wins…
March 25th, 20129:03 pm
Did Braves make some roster moves after game today? Joey T? Simmons? If you know, please update us. Thanks.
March 25th, 20129:06 pm
This is a tweet from Joey. I guess he was told and tweeted it before the Braves made an official announcement.
March 25th, 20129:08 pm
Joey T was sent to the minor league camp 2 days ago…
The Braves announced Friday that Terdoslavich, Bethancourt, first baseman Ernesto Mejia, left-handed pitcher Dusty Hughes and right-handed pitcher Adam Russell had been reassigned to Minor League camp.
March 25th, 20129:10 pm
RIP Bert Suger – he was always fun to listen to, even if I’m not a big boxing fan…
Wow – quadruple overtime…
March 25th, 20129:12 pm
McFann, does she have a cupcake business here somewhere?
March 25th, 20129:13 pm
VJ yes he was sent to minor league camp 2 days ago is true, but assignments were and still have not been announced
March 25th, 20129:18 pm
This is just a guess on my part. With the Chipper surgery news I am guessing the FO wants Joey just a short short drive away vs Mississippi after the Braves said this week he was very very close to being MLB ready.
March 25th, 20129:20 pm
GIL in MECHANICSVILLE is on the mend folks. Says hi!
March 25th, 20129:22 pm
Thanks. I was listening to Houston broadcasters at beginning of game who said Braves were going to make some more announcements after game was over.
Not even close. Dale Murphy did his best on teams that sucked. Chipper has had talented teammates throughout his career.
JOEY’s timetable had to be put on the fast track. I’m thinking SUTTON goes to AAA, and SIMMONS to PEARL RIVER.
March 25th, 20129:23 pm
Murph was the best.
March 25th, 20129:24 pm
Waffle House – Just looked it up and last spring Uggla hit .231 with zero HR and 6 RBI.
MURPHY was pretty good RICK.
March 25th, 20129:29 pm
Tiring but good win for the Hawks.
March 25th, 20129:30 pm
Think they keep Sutton up until Chipper ready to come back
Joey T said this in a tweet a few hours ago if you are curious.
March 25th, 20129:33 pm
Jim I think you are correct. Sutton will backup 2nd and 3rd until Chipper is activated and Prado back to LF
March 25th, 20129:38 pm
Does Martin become even more valuable for the Braves with Chipper retiring? He played great today at 3rd.
March 25th, 20129:39 pm
Yeah, I think it’s in Marrietta (sp?)…She’s only 23!!
March 25th, 20129:40 pm
Here she is!
March 25th, 20129:42 pm
Well said Dave…thanks for the memories Chipper.
March 25th, 20129:52 pm
Fredi said on MLB Radio today that Sutton can even play OF.
Other thoughts – Durnago and Parraz have outplayed Diaz and Constanza this Spring. No doubt they can keep three of these four at AAA (not Diaz), but LF, not the bench is suddenly a lot more important – 4ABs v maybe 1AB a game. I’d rather see Durango and Parraz stay with team. 18 days left until opening day. This should be an important competition these next couple of weeks.
I would also announce that Medlen will be #5 starter until Hudson is ready to start and that Teheran and Delgado will start season at AAA as starting pitchers and get plenty of work so they are ready if anyone falters on big team.
March 25th, 20129:55 pm
McFann :Ô: :Ô: :ô: I’ll meet you at the cupcake shop one day next week…it’s on the square in Marietta, about 10-15 minutes from my house. I love cupcakes!
March 25th, 20129:56 pm
chipper’s 1999 season is the only one in history to be as well rounded and complete in virtually every offensive category. the key is that he did not strike out 100 times, and he stole atleast 25 bases with 40 2b and 45 hr.
avg 315, obp 440, slg 630, ops 1070, g 154, pa 700, ab 560, r 115, h 180, 2b 41, 3b 1, hr 45, rbi 110, sb 25, bb 125, so 94, and tb 355.
in fact, chipper has never struck out 100 times in any year, and very few power hitters can say that, or non power hitters for that matter.
1st ballot hall of famer, and any sportswriter that does not vote that way because they never vote for someone on their first year has simply lost his ever lovin mind.

VJ: In the 1970’s, Bert Sugar published some books on Baseball Cards just when card collecting was starting to become popular and shows were popping up in big cities. I thought it was unusual because his background was boxing and he was not known to be a baseball card collector, but I guess he saw an opportunity to make some money on a hot new subject. The books were very well done and are collector’s items themselves now.
March 25th, 201210:04 pm
Soph (and anyone else in the Metro ATL): you can come to the cupcake shop, too. It would be fun to meet some of the folks we talk to everyday.
March 25th, 201210:07 pm
Diaz should not make this club. Period.
March 25th, 201210:09 pm
In another week all the guessing will be over and we will all know who will be where.
March 25th, 201210:11 pm
Murph was nowhere near the hitter that Chipper is, good team, bad team makes very little difference. Murph was however a much better defensive player after he found his niche in CF
March 25th, 2012
Diaz should not make this club. Period.
Ole Matty was(should be again) Deadly against leftys especially late in the game, his lifetime stats.

LOL at Teheran going undernthe knife now too!!
Tommy John time!
nothing funny at all about what i said here. I did a piss poor job of conveying laughing instead of crying about that news. I’m sure he’s fine, but i swear, we’re getting snake bit again already with injuries.
March 25th, 201210:13 pm
Screaming “BALLGAME” in the first few innings is notorious around here. Some people can’t help it. It gets old fast.
March 25th, 201210:16 pm
old man, but he’s the “hittin’ fool”. Yeah, I agree with you. He’s just not a good baseball player, at all. He does hardly anything right. He almost got picked off 1st base today and should’ve with a decent throw. What does do afterwards? Why laugh about it of course.
March 25th, 201210:17 pm
Meant to put a “he” after “does” there, but yuns get the point.
Coach (2012 Fredi's beisbol fandango)
March 25th, 201210:18 pm
Yep, the injuries are piling up and the N.L. East is much tougher this year.
March 25th, 201210:19 pm
Hawks in 4 OTs….
Wow. 14 yrs since that’s happened.
March 25th, 201210:20 pm
Apart from anything else – facts getting in the way – has anyone said Teheran has to have Tommy John or did I miss that bulletin?
March 25th, 201210:22 pm
No on Teheran. No. No.
still day to day last I heard, mighta missed it I guess
March 25th, 201210:29 pm
I don’t think you missed anything nolie! Or phil!
March 25th, 201210:30 pm
The Braves didn’t say anything about the soreness until Saturday, a day after Teheran threw a 25-pitch side session at camp instead of pitching in a minor league game or against Toronto in the Braves’ Grapefruit League game. His ailment was described as general arm soreness rather than specific shoulder or elbow discomfort.
March 25th, 201210:32 pm

CRAP! He has every right to make this team!
March 25th, 201210:37 pm
Knock that flippin cigarette out of his mouth!!!!
March 25th, 201210:41 pm
March 25th, 201210:43 pm
My my my. So much attention for a knee.
March 25th, 201210:44 pm
Mad Men moment
March 25th, 201210:46 pm
are you old enuff to remember that most folks smoked back then?
March 25th, 201210:48 pm
Chipper is probably the best position player of the Atlanta era. McCann might be as good if he has a long career. It’s hard to imagine how good Chipper could have been had his body held up. He is as valuable to his team as anyone I can think of. We’re gonna miss him when he’s gone!
March 25th, 201210:52 pm
March 25th, 2012
are you old enuff to remember that most folks smoked back then?”
I am old enough to have inhaled decades of second-hand smoke!
March 25th, 201210:53 pm
Maybe these players are too fit? Pulling all these muscles that don’t have enough of that blubber to support them.
March 25th, 201210:54 pm
I never pull anything because I eat grease to support my muscles.

i got Heyward peciled in for a .278/ 19/ 78/ .365 line for ‘12.
March 25th, 201211:06 pm
I hope he does a little better than that but after last year who knows?
March 25th, 201211:13 pm
McCann will have his best so far .305/ 26/ 105/ .382
March 25th, 201211:21 pm
Joey T is definitely headed to AAA. Wren is also looking for outfield and infield options through the trade avenue.
We really shouldn’t struggle with offense. The things Mac, Uggla, Chipper, Heyward, Freeman, Bourn and Prado all together are capable of is really strong. Damn, I have to take a step back and realize that.
March 25th, 201211:25 pm
nolie gets wind of that post Billy and he’s gonna shoot it down. Sux when he does too because the guy is usually right. Damn him!
March 25th, 201211:27 pm
I not only can’t top that! I don’t think it was her best version of it!
We talk baseball, other sports, music, movies, BBQ and whatever (except politics or religion)
