Funny , PHI
Maddux, Glavine and Smoltz are HOF’s with one World Series.
However, POWER ARMS WIN IN OCTOBER!!!!!
March 25th, 20123:24 pm
That whole Mc lout saga was just odd sports hernia couldn’t throw the ball to cut off man who was in control of his decisions to play through that just odd
March 25th, 20123:25 pm
Doesn’t go to church on Sundays.
Got bitten in the ass by too many Saturday nights.
Sorry all- VJ had to head off to work…you are on your own now (think this one is safe )
March 25th, 20123:26 pm
Luis Durango tripled.
guy just kept denying that there was anything wrong. lotsa grit, no brains at all
March 25th, 20123:27 pm
gee I wonder how many pro baseball players go to church on Sundays….
Grits for brains Gotcha
March 25th, 20123:28 pm
Work? Sunday? Wait.. what? oh man, my head hurts, what’s this feeli– *mind blown* ofrglagnadslfnadlfk
March 25th, 20123:29 pm
Durango over Constanza for me
March 25th, 20123:30 pm
Yeah, Whitey Ford and Warren Spahn were such flamethrowers.
Dale Murphy goes to church on Sunday.
Braves notes: Hanson to pitch on team’s day off; Tehran has had sore arm
March 25th, 20123:32 pm
I tend to go with Durango too. Much better glove, does a lot of things well. But Georgie has seniority with the Braves, so I think he will win out if either does. The way Bourn plays, there’s really no need to have a real backup CF. Apart from injury, of course.
I really was pulling for Georgie but durango is the obvious choice of the two selah we’ll see what Fredi(Wren) thinks
March 25th, 20123:33 pm
Yep. VJ has a 7 day work week (although he is only gone an hour today)
Maybe Murph goes on Saturday?
March 25th, 20123:34 pm
Rats. Teheran down too? He didn’t have much chance of making the team, but that will do it. I’d just stick with Medlen until Hudson gets back. Heck, except for Minor, he’s been our best starter.
We did got our tickets for the Braves game in LA (well, we will have them for one of the games…not sure which one yet)- YAY
March 25th, 20123:35 pm
Are there any Major Leaguers on this Houston split-squad team?
March 25th, 20123:36 pm
One could make the argument that there are not many Major Leaguers on the entire Astros roster…
March 25th, 20123:38 pm
I think Constanza is the best he’ll ever be, Durango is younger and could improve and be much better.
March 25th, 20123:41 pm
The Braves would beat the Shawshank prison guard team 4-2 in extra innings.
March 25th, 20123:42 pm
Braves win 11-1! And I’m off. Gotta get my car cleaned for my trip next week and then go get food for the husb to eat while I am gone. Later, y’all.
braves win braves win
March 25th, 20123:43 pm
I think Durango has a chance to be our CF in 2013, he has a chance to grab playing time and show us what he can do.
March 25th, 20123:44 pm
Mekon5, is it the 1950s anymore. No. Power look at the past winners the past 10 years. POWER ARMS.
March 25th, 20123:57 pm
Very good work by JJ today, all the way around. Great to see! And Freddie, Danny, BMac, and Marteeeen were very enjoyable to watch, too!
March 25th, 20124:23 pm
LOL at Teheran going undernthe knife now too!!
Tommy John time!
March 25th, 20124:34 pm
Current headline on the front page of the AJC; “Hanson to potch on Braves’ offday” (copied and pasted). Sounds painful whatever it is.
March 25th, 20124:35 pm
WTF is so funny about it?
noleee: Does “Ball Boys” come on following Playboy After Dark and Taxicab Confessions?
March 25th, 20124:36 pm
if it was true, I fail to see the humor in it..
March 25th, 20124:38 pm
I’ll be surprised if Durango turns out to be a regular starter on a good team, but we can hope
or we can use the neggie approach and hope the team is no good so he can start….
March 25th, 20124:40 pm
actually ken I don’t watch it so I don’t know. I just ran into some reviews that compared it to Pawn Stars and it is about the sports memorabilia trade I believe.
but I do get your point
March 25th, 20124:50 pm
Prado should be play 2 games at least in SS during spring training.
March 25th, 20124:53 pm
noleee: good to hear, I need to find that show, that’s some of what I sell on eBay and Amazon, so it would be right up my alley. Thanks for the heads up.
Amazing how a few good games, at bats, and pitching performances can change the whole outlook of the blog, ain’t it? At least the doom and gloomers crawled back in their holes for the time being.
March 25th, 20124:54 pm
Prado can’t play SS, not enough range or arm
March 25th, 20124:55 pm
I believe it is on ABC and probably either last night or today ken
March 25th, 20125:07 pm
Give it up O’Brien. Chipper Jones is merely a baseball player. A mighty fine one, but he is not God. he is not Jesus. He is a baseball player. He bats and throws a ball. He is not a hero. What has he done for the betterment of mankind?
March 25th, 20125:08 pm
another idiot broke out of his cell and got to the ‘puter room….
March 25th, 20125:09 pm
According to the guys in the booth, JJ’s control was much better today than in past starts. Yes, it was a very bad Astros SS. However, it sounds like a better overall performance for JJ than his first few starts.
Sounds like JJ, Hanson, Minor are rounding into form. We’ll see how Beachy’s next start goes, but I’m sure he’s going to dial it up a notch.
I definitely vote for Medlen to get Huddy’s April starts over Delgado or Teheran.
I have a feeling that the Latin Duo didn’t really have a good plan on getting ready in ST (sort of like Minor last year). I’m sure that they’ll be ready to go by May, and ready to step into the rotation in ST 2013.
2013 is going to be a beast: Huddy (option year), Hanson, Jurrjens (final arb year), Beachy, Minor, Delgado (ready at last), Teheran (ready at last), Medlen, Vizcaino (new ligament and all). Methinks someone is going to get traded in the off-season.
March 25th, 20125:10 pm
I heard Chipper discovered world peace. Alas, he didn’t know what it was, so he put it back.
March 25th, 20125:14 pm
noleee: found it on Saturday afternoons, set my DVR to record all shows. Thanks.
March 25th, 20125:15 pm
noleee> i gotta like you response.
March 25th, 20125:18 pm
Chipper is on the Hooters Board of Directors and I think he is their spokesperson. Or he may be in charge of hiring the waitresses.
March 25th, 20125:19 pm
Why didn’t my smiley work??
March 25th, 20125:20 pm
kenhotlanta – I stand corrected!
March 25th, 20125:22 pm
msterpsych: your honesty is refreshing.
March 25th, 20125:28 pm
ken – it didn’t work because there was no space between the period and the colon…
Unless I’m “misremembering” (which is entirely possible), cabravesfan is due a Happy Birthday today! (If I’m wrong, there are far worse mistakes to make.)
March 25th, 20125:30 pm
And your smiley worked. You must be livin right!!
March 25th, 20125:35 pm
MIBravesfan – actually, it was 12 days ago…but it’s the thought that counts!
VJ: thanks, I’m a dummy. Just hope I remember next time.
March 25th, 20125:36 pm
Pretty entertaining game between Soph’s guys and DOB’s guys – of course, I’m watching golf and flipping during breaks (while also scoring essays)…
March 25th, 20125:38 pm
VJ – oops! Sorry! Belatedly then! And you too (in advance or belatedly!)
Some major rain activity right now – definitely a rare occurrence here…
A tad under 3 months to go for me…
March 25th, 20125:39 pm
Oh that’s right, the NCAA tourney didn’t end in the Sweet 16 . . . .
March 25th, 20125:43 pm
Nice putt by Tiger!
March 25th, 20125:48 pm
Nice tip by Zeller – unfortunately for him, into the wrong basket…
March 25th, 20125:50 pm
North Carolina and Kansas is one of those games where you love it that you’re not a fan of either team so you can enjoy watching it!
March 25th, 20125:58 pm
It is Aretha Franklin’s birthday, however —
March 25th, 20125:59 pm
Jurrjens eases some concerns, Uggla stays hot, Freeman homers twice in 11-1 win
March 25th, 20126:10 pm
MIBravesFan – in case you missed it, here’s Bruce doing Death to My Hometown in Atlanta last week:
March 25th, 20126:24 pm
Yea jurggins the lozer! He pitch against minor leegers today so he of course pitch good! Braves will win ten game all the seeson!
March 25th, 20126:27 pm
Chipper Jones taught me how to be a man, not a boy anymore. Without him, I would be chewing wimpy gum or that pu*** Grizzley, but now I chew Red Man and skoal!
Thanks Chipper Jones!
March 25th, 20126:28 pm
ChattTownBrian (CTB) will fall off Lookout Mountain sometime this summer and will not be hurt because of a his hard head.
nolie, but Pasty sure has the arm for SS.
March 25th, 20126:31 pm
Sounds like a compliment to me, ken.
And nolie, you’re right on Prado not being able to handle SS reguarly. Just throwing out that I don’t think Pstornicky, from all I’ve read, is cut out long term for that position either.
March 25th, 20126:32 pm
Does North Carolina ever miss a free throw?
March 25th, 20126:38 pm
Beating an Astros split squad is like beating a special Olympics team with their hands also tied behind their backs, but if it gives JJ some confidence, then we’ll take it.
March 25th, 20126:40 pm
Great win against AAAA competition today. Heh!
Here are some Luis Durango video’s. Great outfield and has a very good arm for a little guy.
March 25th, 20126:41 pm
better arm than Prado and way more range. actually Tyler was throwing in the high 80s in high school ( which is good) and was even clocked at 90mph at a special camp, but that was with a two step start IIRC. guys has a bit of a funky throwing motion that does not help him,
March 25th, 20126:42 pm
Durango is fun to watch, hope he sticks with it and makes the team.
The Astros may, indeed, suck, but what are pitchers supposed to do with teams that suck? They should dominate them, which is exactly what Jurrjens did.
March 25th, 20126:44 pm
nolie – Throwing ion the 80’s in HS is all fine and well, but the idea is NOT to throw the ball halfway between the catcher and first baseman.
March 25th, 20126:45 pm
if he was any damn good at all he woulda thrown a negative hitter against them Lew…
March 25th, 20126:46 pm
noleee- Yeah, but to do that, he’d have to develop that “Interdimensional ” pitch Hudson used in that commercial with Lowe last year.
March 25th, 20126:48 pm
yes overall his throwing is his achilles heel. course if he is reading all the stuff about how Simmons is so much better and has such a great arm he might be pressing too
March 25th, 20126:49 pm
Great article on chipper. My now 4 year old cant quite figure out why he’s hanging it up…took him to glavine’s retirement ceremony two years ago and he still talks about the hr jones hit that night. Anyway for all the regulars…any advice on mlb.tv? Have an iPad and am thinking about buying the premium deal. Live in Montana so the blackouts are for mariners games so no big deal on that front. Thanks for any info.
Yeah JJ did dominate them.
I’m glad he did.
That’s a first for him this spring–actually that’s a first for him going back a ways into last season.
Now let’s hope he can duplicate that against a real offense that can hit.
March 25th, 20126:50 pm
Well, unless Freeman puts on a growth spurt during the season and grows to 6′!0″, he’s not going to get to some of those throws. Of course, if he did and got tired of chasing those throws, he could always join the NBA.
March 25th, 20126:57 pm
March 25th, 2012
Braves notes: Hanson to pitch on team’s day off;
Bet HANSON does not win. Hard to win if team not behind you.
March 25th, 20127:00 pm
Just saw box score, great FREDDY came back strong.
March 25th, 20127:01 pm
It sounds like Chase Utley will be out quite awhile with his knee. Phillies are getting almost as old as nolie.
March 25th, 20127:02 pm
Ryan Howard is gonna miss a huge chunk as well, there missing the 3 and 4 hitter.
March 25th, 20127:03 pm
Derek – I don’t watch the mlbtv games on an IPad, but it’s a good way to get the Braves’ broadcasts generally for those of us who are “out-of-market”.
March 25th, 20127:05 pm
iPad – my bad . . . . .
March 25th, 20127:07 pm
Oh my gosh — lookie here – Kansas!!!
Man, what could’ve been had Kendall Marshall been able to play. Of course it would’ve helped had Harrison Barnes not gone MIA again.
Congrats, DOB. KU played well.
March 25th, 2012
March 25th, 2012
Braves notes: Hanson to pitch on team’s day off;
Why would FREDI pitch HANSON on a day team is not going to play? He is sure to lose.
March 25th, 20127:08 pm
OH NO, NC lost
March 25th, 20127:09 pm
March 25th, 20127:14 pm
Go KU beat Ohio State! Go Louisville beat Kentucky!
March 25th, 20127:15 pm
I know Kentucky’s played great all season but they looked unstoppable today. Still think they win it all easily.
March 25th, 20127:17 pm
Well that’s the joy of it – they actually play the games, and we get to see what happens.
March 25th, 20127:18 pm
Kentucky looked very good, Sad MARSHALL could not play for UNC.
We talk baseball, other sports, music, movies, BBQ and whatever (except politics or religion)
