ARS..Champagne Jam: You bring back some great memories. There used to be lots of clubs with great local bands, you could go to a different place every night of the week. There was lots of talent in this town in the 70s and 80s that never made it big. Mothers’ Finest is the original band minus 1 member and they still tour all over the world. I loved going to the Limelight just to watch the girls and the music was booming all of the time. T-Hawkin would have loved it, he was born too late!

I heard them at GA Southwestern College in Americus, GA. My ears did ring for 48 hrs after that concert but they were a underated group to me and you rarely hear their music played anymore..

Chipper you will be missed
I knew this annoucement would come and sooner rather than later. But I’m sad to know that this year will be the final season where I’ll be able to watch one of the best players every to play the game. I really love the pride Chipper has for being an Atlanta Brave. I think that is my most favorite thing about him.

Chipper you are one of my favorite Atlanta Braves. I will miss you.

I’ve always been that if you’re a baseball fan, that you must go to Cooperstown at least once in your life. I think when he goes in would be a great time to go!

Thank you Chipper!

Gimpah and Mcerror, you are obviously a world class idiot. If you think Chipper’s contract is keeping this team from winning a World Series, you know nothing about baseball and should be banned from this site forever. Who would we have had to replace him? Oh, I apologize, our big spending ownership would have certainly gone out and gotten a high profile free agent, right? Chipper being halfway healthy is the only thing that kept eight to ten million dollars out of the owners’ pockets and another Jack Wilson from playing third base. Even with the injuries, his on base percentage and power numbers were respectable. Do me a favor, when he gets inducted to the Hall of Fame, don’t watch. You don’t deserve the privilege.

ARS..Champagne Jam: A neat thing happening in the past few years due to the economy and the state of the Recording industry is many veteran acts who played Arenas back in the day, can now be seen in small clubs around town. I have seen several excellent shows at small venues in the last few years and you can usually talk to these folks before or after the show. It’s a wonderful experience.

Today it’s pitiful and painful what they think is music. Ripping off somebody else’s music and inserting different lyrics (usually just to be vulgar). That takes absolute zero talent. Also, usually speaking instead of singing jackass lyrics. It’s all (C)rap.

kenhotlanta….Yeah, that is a nice thing. They’re getting back to their roots and still able to make a few bucks. Unfortunately, I see these smaller venues charging ridiculous amounts for the “retro” circuit. As I said a while back, I don’t know how anyone can afford these overpriced promotions and places. And the bands are just as guilty.
It’s got to hit a plateau, you would think in this economy. Anyways, that’s a different subject.
I miss those days, when Atlanta was a cool town and one of the nations best kept secret by all the people that wanted to come through here. And the women outnumbered the men 3-1.
Heck, I remember when the population sign on Peachtree by Piedmont Hospital hit 1 million. What’s it up to now? Whatever it is, it’s probably about 4 million too many!

To the greatest ATLANTA Brave of all time, Godspeed. I have thoroughly enjoyed watching your Hall of Fame career and I’m glad my two sons are old enough to know who Chipper is and what number he wears. Think about how many great 90’s players the Braves had and we the fans never got to enjoy or salute their leaving the game. We had 3 of the greatest pitchers in the history of the game and two of them didn’t get to win their 300th game in a Braves uni.

We get to celebrate Chipper Jones for the rest of the season. He is going to be the only guy from the 90’s that gets out on his own terms.
