John Buck – 1-1 count…
Thanks Chipper for the memories and a great 2012 season as your career draws to a close.

Sophia, jealousy is unbecoming of a woman…
Don’t make me fling one of my special edition #10 bricks at your face.
And he doubles to the wall in right center…
ARS..Champagne Jam: You bring back some great memories. There used to be lots of clubs with great local bands, you could go to a different place every night of the week. There was lots of talent in this town in the 70s and 80s that never made it big. Mothers’ Finest is the original band minus 1 member and they still tour all over the world. I loved going to the Limelight just to watch the girls and the music was booming all of the time. T-Hawkin would have loved it, he was born too late!
Lee in S GA
March 22nd, 20122:40 pm
I heard them at GA Southwestern College in Americus, GA. My ears did ring for 48 hrs after that concert but they were a underated group to me and you rarely hear their music played anymore..
March 22nd, 20122:41 pm
Thanks for the memories, Chipper.
Sad for me
Wow first it was Skip and Munson, now Chipper.Wish some of our sports icons would never ever leave.Gonna be hard to watch a Braves game without Chipper, remember listening to Braves games on the radio with out Skip it was weird.Sad to me
Chipper you will be missed
I knew this annoucement would come and sooner rather than later. But I’m sad to know that this year will be the final season where I’ll be able to watch one of the best players every to play the game. I really love the pride Chipper has for being an Atlanta Brave. I think that is my most favorite thing about him.
Chipper you are one of my favorite Atlanta Braves. I will miss you.
I’ve always been that if you’re a baseball fan, that you must go to Cooperstown at least once in your life. I think when he goes in would be a great time to go!
Thank you Chipper!
3-1 on Petersen – ball 4…
Toto from here also… the band Kansas all made this their base for years….what a coincidence, Toto and Kansas in Atlanta. Kinda funny. Believe some Kansas guys still here.
Ease (Win for Ten®)
I am assuming that you throw like a girl…so I will take my chances…

Easy fly to right ends the Marlins’ half of the 5th…
March 22nd, 20122:43 pm
Geez-us…Chipper ain’t dead folks…Still has 162 and change left…
Gimpah and Mcerror, you are obviously a world class idiot. If you think Chipper’s contract is keeping this team from winning a World Series, you know nothing about baseball and should be banned from this site forever. Who would we have had to replace him? Oh, I apologize, our big spending ownership would have certainly gone out and gotten a high profile free agent, right? Chipper being halfway healthy is the only thing that kept eight to ten million dollars out of the owners’ pockets and another Jack Wilson from playing third base. Even with the injuries, his on base percentage and power numbers were respectable. Do me a favor, when he gets inducted to the Hall of Fame, don’t watch. You don’t deserve the privilege.
if anyone gets a link to the press conference, please post it
March 22nd, 20122:44 pm
Sophia, jealousy is unbecoming synonomous with being a woman…
Bourn takes a strike leading off…and a second…
Let’s win one for the Chipper in 2012….one World Series, that is!
March 22nd, 20122:45 pm
Chipper was a rookie when i was 5 years old. That’s all i know is Chipper and the braves. I don’t think baseball will ever be the same watching number 10 retire. The best player ever in this game. First ballot hall of famer no doubt. I’ll be there the day he goes in.
. I loved going to the Limelight just to watch the girls and the music was booming all of the time.
oh yeah……been there and done that a time or 2….lol…
Bourn grounds out to Omar…
us southerners say our R’s. you must be thinking of a northeast accent. _ DAP
Ha, that’s true, we’ll even add them where there are none. Still for some reason I read Gimpah as Southern……………..
March 22nd, 20122:46 pm
Prado takes a strike on 3-0…
And Marteeen walks…
March 22nd, 20122:47 pm
How about the old Charlie Magruders? One night you might see Charlie Daniels or Marshall Tucker Band playing there….next night Atlanta Rythm Section.
Saw John Lee Hooker at long gone Moonshadow close to Toco Hills.
Geez-us…Chipper ain’t dead folks…Still has 162 and change left… Ease
If we’re talking ®s and such, see my 11:03

New pitcher for Miami – Chad Goudin will face Freeman…
March 22nd, 20122:49 pm
There are tons of bands who used to or still make Atlanta their home. One of the members of the Georgia Satellites lives on the same street as my daughter in NE Marietta…they aren’t full time anymore, but still play occasionally.
March 22nd, 20122:50 pm
2-1 on FF…
Too many different species ruining this town now. Never be the same. Too bad all the newbies have no clue.
March 22nd, 20122:52 pm

March 22nd, 20122:55 pm
kenhotlanta….it’s been a few years and I forgot his name, but one of those guys used to come into a place I went pretty regularly and we’d sit and have a few drinks together at the bar. He had some good stories.
March 22nd, 20122:56 pm
Force at 2nd, throw back from Reyes goes past first, Hinske at first…
jeffrey d (He's not dead®)
March 22nd, 20122:57 pm
But I said it first
Jason with a 3-1 count…
ARS..Champagne Jam: A neat thing happening in the past few years due to the economy and the state of the Recording industry is many veteran acts who played Arenas back in the day, can now be seen in small clubs around town. I have seen several excellent shows at small venues in the last few years and you can usually talk to these folks before or after the show. It’s a wonderful experience.
March 22nd, 20122:58 pm
Don’t worry, Ease. With your big head, there’s no way I can miss.
March 22nd, 20122:59 pm
Jason does not like the strike 2 call – fouls one back – and he walks…
March 22nd, 20123:00 pm

March 22nd, 20123:04 pm
cab, it’s 3:10 p.m. here on the East Coast. If I wasn’t at work, I think I’d have a drink. May go home in a couple of hours and have one anyway.
EOF in for the 6th inning…
March 22nd, 20123:05 pm
He quickly retires Cousins and Tiffee…
Today it’s pitiful and painful what they think is music. Ripping off somebody else’s music and inserting different lyrics (usually just to be vulgar). That takes absolute zero talent. Also, usually speaking instead of singing jackass lyrics. It’s all (C)rap.
To that, I always reply, “Hell, it’s already tomorrow at the International Date Line! That late enough for ya?”
March 22nd, 20123:06 pm
Duarte grounds to Tyler, quick top of the 6th…
March 22nd, 20123:08 pm

Hanley also out of the game…
Foul ball, 3-2 – lines off the pitcher, over to third, Tyler safe…
Gaudin was drilled in the rib cage – might have to come out…
March 22nd, 20123:12 pm
Looks as if The Rev got the memo. Good day with the stick.
He stays in after throwing a few pitches…Matt Diaz to hit…
On Bradley’s blog, Sonny Clusters talking about Chipper’s ingrown toenails needing trimmed.

March 22nd, 20123:15 pm
Single up the middle for Bourn…
Strike 1 to Prado…
Martin grounds to Nick Green to end the 6th…
March 22nd, 20123:16 pm
kenhotlanta….Yeah, that is a nice thing. They’re getting back to their roots and still able to make a few bucks. Unfortunately, I see these smaller venues charging ridiculous amounts for the “retro” circuit. As I said a while back, I don’t know how anyone can afford these overpriced promotions and places. And the bands are just as guilty.
It’s got to hit a plateau, you would think in this economy. Anyways, that’s a different subject.
I miss those days, when Atlanta was a cool town and one of the nations best kept secret by all the people that wanted to come through here. And the women outnumbered the men 3-1.
Heck, I remember when the population sign on Peachtree by Piedmont Hospital hit 1 million. What’s it up to now? Whatever it is, it’s probably about 4 million too many!
Our present hitting coach will soon be fired as well, based on results to date, thus opening the door for Chipper to come in and realize that these guys just can’t hit. Period.
Just kidding. Maybe.
March 22nd, 20123:17 pm
Pastornicky 3 for 3… I wonder if he just won himself a job? I wonder if they’ll declare the SS starter soon so that he can relax and get in the flow with the rest of the starting 8.
March 22nd, 20123:18 pm
Just purchased my tickets to the final regular season home game. We’ll be there to wish him well.
March 22nd, 20123:19 pm
Cory Gearrin in to pitch…2-0 to Nick Green – strike 1…
March 22nd, 20123:20 pm

Green grounds out to Prado – Omar at bat – 2-1…
March 22nd, 20123:22 pm
Omar strikes out swinging at a changeup…
March 22nd, 20123:23 pm
B-52’s and REM at the fabulous Fox theatre were great shows…..nothing like a show at the Fox. Rolling Stones played there for a more intimate setting instead of the old Omni.
GONNA MISS CHIP
love you chipper
March 22nd, 20123:24 pm
I have a feeling the Braves will do a retirement ceremony at the Saturday game at the end of the season, and I already had a ticket for that. But I went ahead and bought a ticket for the Sunday game, too. It will be a bittersweet day, but lets hope that we will be cemented in the playoffs as we close out the season.
March 22nd, 20123:25 pm
Infield single followed by ground out to end the top of the 7th…
March 22nd, 20123:26 pm
To the greatest ATLANTA Brave of all time, Godspeed. I have thoroughly enjoyed watching your Hall of Fame career and I’m glad my two sons are old enough to know who Chipper is and what number he wears. Maybe the Braves can have that magic this year and #10 can retire with his second ring. It just won’t be as fun without #10 out there.
Go Braves! Another Atlanta legend disappears. Freddi Freeman and Brian McCann have to take over the mantle.
March 22nd, 20123:30 pm
Rev’s BA up to .213!
I have watched Chipper since he first came up for that stint in what I believe was 94? Anyway, Chipper is the best ALL AROUND baseball player that I have ever seen and is clearly even a better person…I too went through trials and tribulations in my personal life and like Chipper I did my best to get through it despite the negativity….Anyway, Can’t say enough about the fond memories that I will always have when it comes to Chipper on and off the field…
March 22nd, 20123:31 pm
@Tomahawkin,Forget Kiss and The Crüe.Must see,Michael Schenker Group.Saw them Tuesday night in So Cal.Early Scorpions and all the great UFO songs.Plus if they hit the ATL it will be in a club setting.Up close and personal for a fraction of the price of an arena show and his band kills.
All hail Chipper
March 22nd, 20123:32 pm
Best news? Chipper can pick up only 75 hits in 350 at bats (.187 batting average), and STILL retire with a .300 batting average…
March 22nd, 20123:33 pm
Freeman groundout, Uggla K…Hinske flies to center – to the 8th…
March 22nd, 20123:35 pm
If the story is updated, then please at least tell us how or where the update is, because at first read no one can tell what’s updated. Just sayin’.
Speaking of Atlanta legends…Lewis Grizzard’s book, Kathy Sue Loudermilk, I Love You, is available for free in kindle edition today on Amazon. Scoop it on up, y’all.
Thanks Chipper for leaving it all on the field every time you played. My favorite Brave the past 15 years. Right up there with the Hammer as my favorite players of All-time! I was there the night you hit your 400th HR. I’ll always remember that night. Now, let’s go out in style!
March 22nd, 20123:36 pm
Thanks Chip! Greatest Atlanta Brave ever. You, Bobby, and my dad are the reasons I am a Brave for life! Thanks for the memories Hoss! Now let’s go out in style, 2012 World Series Champ!
Gearrin still in – grounder to Josh Wilson is dropped, E-4…
I wonder if they’ll declare the SS starter soon so that he can relax and get in the flow with the rest of the starting 8.
I’d say he’s responded more favorably since Simmons started breathing down his neck than he did when it was assumed that the job was his. I say keep the battle alive and let it play itself out. I bet Rev will win it outright when it’s all said and done, anyway.
March 22nd, 20123:37 pm
March 22nd, 20123:38 pm
Parraz in right for Jason…
1-2 on Luke Motts…
Think about how many great 90’s players the Braves had and we the fans never got to enjoy or salute their leaving the game. We had 3 of the greatest pitchers in the history of the game and two of them didn’t get to win their 300th game in a Braves uni.
We get to celebrate Chipper Jones for the rest of the season. He is going to be the only guy from the 90’s that gets out on his own terms.
March 22nd, 20123:39 pm
Swinging strike 3 – one down…Scott Cousins to bat…
Bats: Wright Talks About Chipper Jones’s Retirement Announcement
[...] PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. — David Wright on Thursday expressed his longtime admiration for Chipper Jones, who announced earlier in the day that he would retire after the 2012 season. [...]
March 22nd, 20123:40 pm
I’ve always said, “That Chipper–he’s a ballplayer!” —-and I wish him nothing but the best this season and for all the years to come. Thanks for the memories.
We talk baseball, other sports, music, movies, BBQ and whatever (except politics or religion)
