About Brown Eyed Girl; I was totally confused one time a few years back when–as I was singing along while driving–I was surprised with an edited version pf the original. The new version repeated “laughing and a’ runnin’, hey, hey” instead of the forever, “Making love on the green grass” . The edited version appears on some copies of The Best Of Van Morrison CD.
noleee- Makes you wonder what numbers Mantle, Chipper and Griffey Jr. could have put up if not injured as often as they were. Them legs will get ya every time.
Now you’ve piqued my interest even further as it seems as if they’ve razed that stand of pine trees just this side of where the old “married students apartments” once stood.
ken – Got the email, but I need your snail mail address so I can mail you a CD sampler. There were at least another ten or so albums after the seventies. Might send you some other rock goodies you might have missed in recent years. How hard can you take your music?
well two bad plays doesn’t mean that the rest wasn’t good ken. I haven’t seen enough to have any real idea. Great players make atrocious plays at times and poor ones make great plays
That song has been a part of my life for quite a while, ( I had the 45 as a kid and that is one great song to skate to, right up there with Edgar Winter’s “Frankenstein”) and I actually read a few years ago that Morrison was behind the edit due to the fact he was taking his own spirituality more seriously.
That means the spot marking one of my few intramural athletic achievements is gone as well. I once hit a softball off the sidewalk leading to those apartments,(the backstop was just behind the ROTC building). Oh well; maybe they’ll have a bronze plaque beside a men’s urinal in the new stadium.

“I thought this was a baseball blog. Seems to be more like a group of a few who just want to chit chat.”–Stinger2
Oh yeah; serious baseball talk is still most definitely here. Sometimes we just treat the blog as a long, seventh inning stretch. Many even break into a couple of bars of “Take Me Out To The Ballgame”.
Lew, I will send it and thanks. I like heavy metal all the way up to Metallica, don’t care much for thrash and beyond. Anything sounding like 70’s-80’s heavy metal is good, and I know you have mentioned some newer bands doing that type of music. Love the Foo Fighters and their sound.
This is a baseball blog that punishes the negative with varying degrees of harshness…topics range from, surprisingly enough, baseball to drugs to liquor to work to other sports to music rather frequently to health to yard work to kissing DOB’s backside to bashing chipper to praising chipper to food to good restaurants to how fat mccann might be to etc…
Medlin has out pitched both Delgado and Teheran. Not a hard decision here, Medlin is presently the best of the 3 and should at least take Hudson’s spot until he is ready.
Hello everyone! Not too bad a 2-2 tie. Will take it,and things are looking good with my new Cap,and breaking it in already.4 wins 1 loss, and 2 ties not bad for my new hat.
Unless both Teheran and Delgado just completely get shelled the last two weeks of spring, I think Medlen should start the year in the pen. I think his presence there will allow the Untouchables to get more rest. Remember we could be without both Vizcaino and Moylan to start the season.
Alex Smith helps lead the 49ers to the AFC championship game, coming off a 17 TD 5 INT 3,144 Yards 90.7 QB Rating. They reward him by having interest in Peyton Manning replacing him. I hope the 49ers end up without either QB…
Harper needs a bit more time in the minors. I think legit major league pitchers would make him look pretty foolish at the plate. Plus holding him back a little longer gives them a extra year of control. He’s different than any other hot shot top prospect I’ve seen, and I don’t like em one bit.
VaBravesFan, I agree, but Davey Johnson was really pulling for him to make the team out of ST back a couple of months ago. Guess I’m a bit surprised it didn’t happen. I do think they made the right decision, though.
Harper is good, but he’s overated by ESPN,and they have a tendacy to over rate players. He should go back to the Minors.ESPN thinks, because your a prospect, you will do good, and a majority of them some times don’t make it.
Another thing that burns me is how Buster Posey is always rated higher than McCann by all these drooling fools although the dude has only played a little more than a 1/2 season.
Another great outing by Mike Minor, and he could work is way to the top of the staff? He could be an Ace down the road? Great solid 5 inninings of work for him.
Bravo- ESPN is in the tank for the San Fran, and they are going to rate anyone higher. Just like they talk about the Phillies ,Boston,Yankees, and who ever else they have their own popularity with.
If the braves are not starting Medlin because he doesn’t have a great fastball, they’re making a mistake. Of course, mistakes are easy for them. Glavine and Maddox very seldom hit 90 mph. I watched Glavine pitch a game one night and he had 3-4 pitches in the 80s. The rest were in the 70s. They got fewer than five hits off him. Medlin is one hell of a pitcher and we need him to start.
For many of you that want to see the Braves trade JJ because of the “over abundance” of pitching. Don’t be so quick. Yanks and Nat’s both thinking they had 7 starters each had pitchers suffer an injury.
DOB, is Venters okay? Has he been looking as bad as his numbers indicate? Is his velocity off? After his collapse lapse year in that final month, I am getting concerned.
braves won’t even consider trading JJ until their question marks are a little more solid. and then, JJ would have to be performing worse than the fifth starter to make a trade even remotely possible.
