That “Put in Jail and thrown away the key” phrase was a phrase for an old show, and btw I live on a real planet, in the real world, and the Avg Joe would’ve got a lot more harsh criminal treatment as opposed to an entertainer/athlete who get slaps on the wrist for stuff like this, trust me. I have known people who were in the military who gotten kicked out for 1st offenses such like this.
And No offense but Try knowing innocent people in GA who get thrown under the GA B-Sht system for crimes like Schafer did before you call someone’s posts BS

Haven’t heard much talk about Venters so far. His numbers look worrisome–all the way back to the final month of last year. I hope Fredi didn’t ruin him.
Say what you want about Fredi’s foibles last year, the one thing that was utterly inexcusable was the way he gassed the pen–especially “everyday Jonny.”

I lived in Georgia for much longer than you have been alive. Military and civilian life have nothing to do with each other. I’m not saying no one ever gets screwed by the system, none the less, simple possession, first offense charges usually lead to probation or less. I long ago lost count of all the ” Average Joes” I know that got popped and did not go to jail. Easily in the hundreds though.

I don’t smoke pot now, though many years ago I did. I can tell you from experience that a pot high and a drunk are two different animals. I don’t know if you have ever been either drunk or stoned, you sound pretty young. If you haven’t, I highly recommend you don’t start. But if I had to choose to drive on the highways with either drunks or potheads, I choose potheads every time. You probably don’t understand what I’m saying but I fooled my parents many times when I was high on pot, but I could never have fooled them when drunk. Think about it.

In California, possessing 28.5 grams (a little over an ounce) or less is not even an arrest able offense…it is a “civil infraction” that can be fined only $100

No they would not. Less than an ounce is just a misdemeanor. First time offender would get a fine and probably probation.
Just so you know,The law here in Oklahoma has a very strict view of possession of even a joint.
It is a crime to knowingly or intentionally possess marijuana (including small amounts for personal use) in Oklahoma. In addition to a possible fine, the judge will sentence a defendant to up to a year in jail for a first offense, and between two and ten years in prison for a second or subsequent offense. (63 Ok. Stat. Ann. § 2-401.)

Growing up in S. Ga in the 70’s all my football friends drank and drove and I don’t recall any of them getting into much trouble. Often times the police would just make you pour your stuff out. But they weren’t quite so friendly to my friends who got caught with less than an ounce. Not that they got sent up river or anything, but definitely treated more like criminals. Alot more misdemeanor arrests than with drinking and driving.

Apparently, Moe, they’ll send a person to jail for a year there for posessing a single joint.
It does say up to a year…..most times in the paper they seem to get 30 to 90 days,but really if a person was silly enough to get caught with a single joint they probly need some time to sober up.

Back then we referred to alcohol as “Oil” and did not drink the mess. Basically, you could smoke a joint and go to work, shopping and movies. In a sales environment and always looking for different ways to get sales the marijuana cleared your head and ideas just flowed. Now, this was back in 1979-1980s..so when you felt you were tripping others probably were too. It did not have any ranks in positions as such because at any time the supervisors – dept managers – and definitely the mail/copy room staff. Because after consumption the smell would go away and leave you in a good mood and feeling deep. Life was easy and we wanted nothing other than what we had then. The establishment messed up a lot of people when it was learned there is money to be had. Let’s say that the cool folks back then are the one’s in your corporation that smoked all the time.
