Norfolk State, lets go Spartans. For those here in Ga, if Norfolk State beats Missouri would be the equivalent of a Mercer, Morehouse State or a KSU beating Missouri. Lets go home town Tidewater, Va.. lets go Spartans.

Simmons is Another Gonzo…but I don’t think he will try to hit the ball to I-20 as the season progresses (In other words he will cut down on his swing as the season goes on)
I like his D over The Rev
Heyward says it’s all about timing now
March 16th, 20126:32 pm
“Simmons is Another Gonzo…but I don’t think he will try to hit the ball to I-20 as the season progresses (In other words he will cut down on his swing as the season goes on) ”
Simmons has better plate discipline and less power than Gonzo. Doesn’t SO much but not many HRs.
Waffle House or Bust

Bobby Cox could have a relaxed clubhouse because he knew how to manage that way. Not that Fredi can’t manage (cough cough), but his laid back approach cost the Braves wild-card last season and you can see what it’s doing already this spring. Guys don’t feel threatened to lose their starting role as if in NY or Boston where they make moves without thinking about it.
I say let the Braves lose this year. We actually need it because fans expect that average baseball each season in Atlanta and maybe we will appreciate it next time we are winners again. Which will be 2013 when Francona is new manager. I’m ready for it. Who is with me?
March 16th, 20126:34 pm
I’m surprised at all the folks siding with ‘OB over the Chipper situation. Must be at least 15 comments now with some sort of blame for Chipper…BAS
lotsa Chipper haters here, has been for years
Is It too early to call “Ballgame?” I need to grill
but on the real tip…Big Red needs no get better at being more efficient with his pitch counts as opposed to being infactuated with the K which leads to him having thrown 100 pitches by the 5th inning
March 16th, 20126:35 pm
Scott, it’s because the Astros wanted way too much for Rodriguez if I remember correctly.
March 16th, 20126:36 pm
Marv Albert killing me with his uncomfortable mispronouciation of Norfolk. Dude its pronounced Norfick. Its not NO FOLK. Hampton, Richmond 2 other 15 seed teams knocking off a 2 seed.
March 16th, 20126:37 pm
“Simmons has better plate discipline and less power than Gonzo. Doesn’t SO much but not many HRs.”
I’m not worried abt power, whoever wins the SS job will hit 8th to start the season by default, Bank on it…I agree with you in that whoever wins it, they need to at least have more productive AB’s hitting 8th than Gonzo did.
Gonzo’s 1st pitch wasted atbats last year made me want to kick the TV
March 16th, 20126:38 pm
Hanson should have kept the wolly bully look.
My bracket is on life support…
When do the World Series tickets go on sale? Jason will be MVP this year, for sure.
Scott from Fairburn (live from Champion Stadium)
March 16th, 20126:39 pm
CTB, they couldn’t find anyone who would eat majority of his salary … I don’t think they were holding out for grade A prospects
Hanson fb mainly around 89-90, occassional 91 or 92
“Scott, it’s because the Astros wanted way too much for Rodriguez if I remember correctly.”
Good! Sometimes The best trades are the ones u never make! (Jake Peavy is a case in point)
And i did not lust for him nor Wandy R.
March 16th, 20126:40 pm
And I think it just died…
March 16th, 20126:41 pm
A moment of silence for the death of my bracket…
March 16th, 20126:42 pm
not even in your heart?
The old sayin in Va for ODU was
We don’t drink
We don’t smoke
And to us that lived in Va that is exactly how we pronounced it
March 16th, 20126:43 pm
March 16th, 20126:44 pm
cab, I doubt too many people took Norfolk State.
Norfolk State lost to Elizabeth City State University this year. Which is apparently a real thing. They lost by 12. I may cry…
March 16th, 20126:45 pm
I have Mizzou winning it all
…in my mind.
darren rovell @darrenrovell
Norfolk State lost to Elizabeth City State, a team who lost to District of Columbia, Barton College, USC Aiken, Shaw & Bowie St.
March 16th, 20126:46 pm
Oh my gosh.
GTI in Brooklyn
Did someone on here write a little earlier that they don’t see any difference in HANSON’s delivery? Because I see a big difference.
March 16th, 20126:48 pm
Thats The Martini Swing I wanna See!
Today’s games much better than yesterday’s.
March 16th, 20126:49 pm
Wow that was terrible
March 16th, 20126:50 pm
yeah there is definitely a difference in his mechanics, and not just his arm either
I think That Umpire at 1st is ready for the Bar tonight?
Blatant Blown Call
March 16th, 20126:51 pm
I was, once again, sitting and waiting to turn to come home (well actually the store to get Mega Millions tickets) and called the homer. Did that the other night with Uggla’s homer. I’m getting good at callin’ ‘em
DOB paid 1st base ump before game. It just paid off as his buddy was called out.
@GTI … He’s still slinging the ball and slow to the plate
Yeah, that ump owes us one.
March 16th, 20126:52 pm
Well done, Norfolk St, well done.
Well, it’s spring training for the umpires, too, I guess. That bad call would have been EPIC during the regular season.
March 16th, 20126:53 pm
As to DOB’s current blog. He will have to spend the whole season trying his best to make FREDI G and FRANK WREN not look to bad. That will be tough to do.
March 16th, 20126:54 pm
That Just landed in our backyard!
@Scott … They never said they were going to cut seconds of time out of it, just that the hitch would be gone. And it’s totally gone. It’s a big difference to me.
At least that one was a solo.
March 16th, 20126:55 pm
Congrats to the guys from Tidewater
March 16th, 20126:56 pm
” Did that the other night with Uggla’s homer. I’m getting good at callin’ ‘em”
You should do that more often
Va teams seeded 15th are beast. It was first Richmond, then Hampton and now Norfolk State. Go Spartans.. you killed everyone’s bracket. Now let’s go VCU tomorrow.
March 16th, 20126:57 pm
You the man DOB. Good choice of song in the Flaming Lips. Time to drop some acid.
March 16th, 20126:58 pm
Oh, believe me, Tomahawkin’, I’m gonna call for it a lot!
BTW, good to have you back on the blog, brother!
Duke game to start soon.
March 16th, 20126:59 pm
@GTI … I see what you mean about the hitch however the setup, the arm action, and finish look the same to me … I’m at the stadium one row behind the braves dugout so I haven’t seen the TV shots …
Go yard, Mac!
March 16th, 20127:00 pm
Norcross, that made me laugh.
Guess it only works when I’m in my car and almost home
March 16th, 20127:01 pm
OMG HOW CAN WE GET RID OF THAT DAMN VIDEO ON THE SIDE OF THE BLOG???? IT IS SO LOUD AND ANNOYING!
March 16th, 20127:03 pm
there is a big difference in his mechanics, he is using his lower body more and not dart throwing which is what they wanted to lessen stress on the arm
March 16th, 20127:04 pm
I’m liking this Peraz kid
March 16th, 20127:05 pm
Uh, turn your sound down?
March 16th, 20127:06 pm
March 16th, 20127:07 pm
Almost had him another one.
What Happened? What Did I Miss
I was Cutting Onions for my Big Boy Baked Potato and I heard Chip C. Get Excited on the telecast…?
I don’t think it was nothing big though?
March 16th, 20127:08 pm
Hard to believe FRANK WREN did not make any major moves this winter, I was sure he would. You don’t just stand pat with a team that finished 9-18. The only move he made was to get rid of our SS and now a rookie will have to play the position full time, unless you think about JACK WILSON what a joke he is.
nolie, Heyward looks more calm in the batters box this year. He’s not fidgeting around as much.
Normally I would, but I’m listening to the game online…kinda hard to do that without sound
March 16th, 20127:09 pm
EOF in for Hansen
Just watching JHey in two at bats since last year has me happy because he looks really good at the plate. Last year he looked almost lifeless at the plate compared to ‘10. Now he looks back to himself. Had to have been hurting bad last year
“You the man DOB. Good choice of song in the Flaming Lips. Time to drop some acid.”
OW! I don’t know how you do it???
He just thought a ball was going out and it was not even close.
yeah CB, seems less nervous. less handsy too
March 16th, 20127:10 pm
Billy, you are correct. Marv was killing me with him pronouncing No Folk. Go big blue of ODU. Now back to baseball.
“nolie, Heyward looks more calm in the batters box this year. He’s not fidgeting around as much.”
Yessir and he’s not pulling off everythig
March 16th, 20127:11 pm
we need him to hit 800 or better
March 16th, 20127:12 pm
Yes, I think last year Heyward was diving at the ball too much.
March 16th, 20127:13 pm
“Oh, believe me, Tomahawkin’, I’m gonna call for it a lot!
BTW, good to have you back on the blog, brother!”
No Diggidity, No Doubt! Good To see ya Baby! Its Better when you make those predictions at the games
brb, Time for Riesling!
March 16th, 20127:14 pm
That ball tricked Fab 5 Freddie!
He makes that 9-10 times…
FF is too fat now to get those lazers to his right.
March 16th, 20127:15 pm
Okay, lets try to not give back anymore runs okay? Jason’s slam was too pretty to let it go to waste on a loss.
Simp was on Ponit in how Fab 5 Freddie made the Defense stats a lot betterwith his Defense as a Rook…
Cant wait til Fab 5 Freddie gets some love from BSPN
March 16th, 20127:17 pm
Move to the Netherlands! Then you’ll get the obligatory ‘THE VIDEO YOU ARE TRYING TO WATCH CAN NOT BE VIEWED FROM YOUR CURRENT LOCATION OR COUNTRY’
And yes, it’s in all caps…..
cab know what you mean I just refreshed and wow it was LOUD.
March 16th, 20127:18 pm
And on the Real Tip…No one In The Media or country can expect Easy-E to repeat his season from last year…???
Ditto for Vennie Macc and Kimmie…That is a once in a decade Triple team trio out of the Bullpen
I know Tomahawkin, I lust for BSPN squirming having to give a Braves player some props!
As long as it is SILENT, it’s an improvement!
March 16th, 20127:19 pm
Tomahawkin, just drop it in your eye. Or tongue. Or anywhere on your body. Yummy.
Heyward hit a GS?
Tonight? No kidding? What’s the count?
March 16th, 20127:20 pm
Word on the streets is Andrelton hangs with JJ at the crib! That’s some rich info I just gave ya’ll …
March 16th, 20127:21 pm
like I said last season and scouts were just quoted as saying, he was too handsy last season and they were out in front of his body
March 16th, 20127:22 pm
That means he’ll be hurt sooner than later…
I like this guy Sutton. Makes more sense to keep him than Jack Wilson.
Dob how do you feel regarding Chippers comment about you being a Little reporter after your publication on his retirement (possible retirement). If I recall this isn’t the first time that you took heat from a Braves player. Few years back Tim Hudson was pissed at you because he assumed Griffey didnt sign with Braves because you published an article too early. What is your take on all this DOB?
March 16th, 20127:23 pm
