phil,

We are in harmony 90+% of the time but we do feel differently about Chipper. Obviously he has done great things over many years but my biggest issue with him has been what I perceive as some selfishness and occasional slacking.

Regardless, out of respect for you, I will not post another negative comment or shot at Chipper on this blog.

Regards,

Larry

Crystal, Chipper’s oldest kid is the result of him knocking up a Hooter’s waitress. His first wife, a pastor’s daughter, divorced him over it. He may be able to hit a baseball, or used to, but he is NOT, and never was, a roll model, just a country hick!

It’s not fredi’s fault that Chip is getting old. Chip KNEW he was getting old, but greed got in the way. I blame fredi for everything else, but not Chip

“likely” is the reality….

The national media doesn’t give 2 craps about Chipper.

I’ve been saying for years now that election to the HOF won’t be any sure thing.

DOB is simply stating something none of us like to think.

I well remember when Dale Murphy was being called a future HOFer….

You’re kind, Larry. No need to feel any such way. He has been somewhat selfish but he did help us in recent years. He wasn’t dead weight.

But clearly, if he can’t play, he needs to retire and do it now.

Hang it up Cripper – l. Bourn CF, 2. Prado LF, 3. Freeman 1B, 4.. Uggla 2B, 5. McCann C,
6. Turdo 3B, 7. J-Hey/Constanza RF, 8. Simmons SS – Use the money saved to make a big trade at the trade deadline for the position needed most for the push to the WS.

lol, look at all us, scrambling around like something might actually be about to happen because Chipper … SAID SOMETHING … Chipper just says stuff. What, is it your first day on the planet? He ain’t going ANYWHERE. In a couple of days he’ll get two bloop singles and declare himself fit as a damn fiddle. And then rinse, repeat. He won’t leave until he has to.

I ain’t saying I blame him; he has a contract. But Chipper’s pattern is easy: come out in the press and say some great big “man of the people, tells it like it is” thing, and then turn back on it when he has to face the real possibility putting that bat (and money) down for good.

He ain’t going anywhere. He’ll “explain”/ recant/ talk out both sides of his mouth within 48 hours from now. He’s a Brave, for better or for gimp, all year.

I’ve kidded about him being fat but in jest.

Ralph,

Not bad, but I’d pop costannza in right full time and move Prado to 3rd. We may have trouble scoring runs so with this outfield the competition will have trouble getting anything to drop in the outfield…probably the fastest three in the league with Bourne, Heyward and Constanza!

I’d really like to see what Bourne, Costanza and Prado could do at 1-3 in the lineup, followed by Freeman, McCann, Uggla, Heyward and Simmons, perhaps.

Phil, to Chipper, bloggers are all just losers living in their parents’ basements. Forgive me if I figure the man can take it. I’m sure he is as insulated from real public opinion as any yes-man-surrounded athlete alive. Except when he ventures out here just to have his ego stroked and it doesn’t work out.

The guy can play ball – my goodness can he play ball – and we’re not likely to see his like again on one team for this many years. But his personality is often dookie. And any “straight talk” declaration – which never really is – he utters in the press is free game for ridicule because of he doesn’t stick to his word.

I just wish the Chipper would go ahead and retire so that it would free up the payroll space and let them get some stability in the infield rather than yanking Prado back and forth. The whole scenario that he is creating is wreaking havoc on continuity in the lineup.

I wish the best for Chipper and respect any decision he makes. We owe him more than that. If he wants to continue with bad knees, pain, soreness, and back issue’s. FINE by me, because we owe him much more credit than he is getting. This is freaking CHIPPER JONES people, not some nobody or never could be. He as accomplished so much and he is still a great asset to this team and organization. I will pick on him and joke about him, but I respect him and think he is are best 3b option PERIOD…

Listen to all these fair weather fans crying their woe is me song, again! Listen, this team was not and is not built around chipper. This team will win based on pitching and defesne first and wil be supported by their hitting. Remember, we have a new CF who will change things hopefully and can’t imgaine Heyward playing as terrible as he did last year. There will be some gives and takes on the offense but overall I expect them to hit good enough to contend for Division and or Wild Card.

Chipper has been great for this city and has earned the right to play as long as he desires in my opinion. We destroy players who leave for more money but don’t give them credit enough when they stay. I want Chipper to retire a Brave and if that means part time then oh well.

Go Braves! Gonna be a good season!
