So far, it’s the Venters and Simmons show. Ground out followed by a line out, both to Simmons.
March 12th, 20122:42 pm
That’s juice as in fruit juice, not steroids
Venters with a clean inning.
March 12th, 20122:43 pm
Jacks aid he was ahead of schedule and hoped to be able to get into some games the last week of the camp
audio back. go figure.
Simmons not hurting his case with a couple of good defensive plays… this is gonna get interesting.
Venters got the last guy out so fast that I don’t even know how he did it.
Venters has been a BEAST so far this spring. (Not that it means anything when a Braves player does anything good. ask phil.)
Another quick 1-2-3 inning for Venters on 6-3 groundout (Jon Jay), L6 (Beltran) and K (Steven Hill)
March 12th, 20122:44 pm
Venters pitching the 5th:
-ground out to Simmons at short. 1 out.
-line drive to Simmons at short. 2 out.
-Strike out looking. 3 out. That half inning lasted about 6 seconds.
March 12th, 20122:45 pm
stoopid Freddie is so stopid he’ll probably name Jerjens the starting SS
FIER FREDDY!!!! FIRE WREN!!! UP WITH STOOPID!!!
March 12th, 20122:46 pm
2 minutes and 7 seconds officially according to the Braves radio guys.
Announcers just quipped that a game would only last about 40 minutes if the half-innings went as quickly as the Venters inning.
March 12th, 20122:47 pm
Heyward skies a popout to 3B with runner at 1st for 1st out in 6th
Heyward skies a popout to 3B with runner at 1st for 1st out 6th
Heyward with a high in-field fly for the first out.
March 12th, 2012
It’s such a beautiful day today.
Of course we’re all going to die eventually, though
March 12th, 20122:49 pm
Ross GIDP to end 6th, Braves up 3-1 headed to bottom
March 12th, 20122:50 pm
Ross hits into a DP to end the top of the sixth.
It does mean something. A lot. Venters has been terrific.
But equally as true, if guys are playing horribly, as some have been, how is that not just as potentially meaningful after 10 games? I know. Few ABs, etc.
Does Heyward have a hit today? Why am I asking since it doesn’t matter?
March 12th, 20122:51 pm
Ross should be the starter this year….
After all, he hit a few dingers last season.
Minor league lefty Dusty Hughes to pitch 6th for Braves. Ex-Bravo Linebrink up in Cardinals pen.
March 12th, 20122:53 pm
OK Martin – we believe you – that you are back. Please save some for the regular season
Braves will break camp with a 9-x win/loss record.
Then will go on a 10-1 start in the regular season.
I hate that Descalzo guy. He’s another player that hit us well.
Heyward is 0-2 with a walk and a strike-out.
Oh my God….
Linebrink is with the Cards? They must have seen something in that bum that we didn’t. Couldn’t have been much though…
March 12th, 20122:54 pm
I think I just caught whatever DOB had on that Heyward post – sorry guys.
I also think Vizcaino is headed towards Tommy John. May be the best thing to just do it now anyway instead of rest, throw, ineffective, rest, throw, etc. then TJ
I believe they just gave him a minor league contract.
Lee in S GA
Ross the starter…over McCann ..come on now.
March 12th, 20122:55 pm
My gameday is still showing Venters pitching, but whoever is pitching (Hughes?) just gave up a flare for a hit followed by a walk.
March 12th, 20122:56 pm
Hughes it is.
March 12th, 20122:57 pm
Bases loaded no outs.
Announcers are starting the cap-tipping for all the Cardinals walks.
MLB Gameday this ST is a JOKE….
March 12th, 20122:59 pm
3-2 Sac fly.
Andrelton Simmons (Braves) — BaseballMoves.com

[...] Source: ajc.com [...]
Heyward catches a deep fly ball on the warning track. Run scores. First and third for the Cardinals. One out.
How uncharacteristic of him.
What is that, 10 or so infield popouts for the JHey Kid so far this ST? One of you former baseball guys tell me, what does that indicate is wrong with his swing?
So far JHey appears to be picking up right where he left off last season.
March 12th, 20123:01 pm
Gameday and MLB app on Iphone still showing Venters pitching. Don’t we wish?
March 12th, 20123:02 pm
My perdiction is that Stoopid maroon phil will be banned. Bloggers are loosing patients with him because he is and idiot.
Another sac fly to Heyward. Tie ball game (3-3). Man on first with two outs.
Well, this one is getting away from us
3-3 Sac Fly. Cards scored 2 runs without the benefit of a hit. Maybe that’s why there are the defending champs.
March 12th, 20123:04 pm
Can’t believe I’m here for a pbp (usually working) AND…..actually get to watch the Braves Wed. evening!
Play for the tie!
Hughes is walking everybody this inning.
March 12th, 20123:05 pm
Let them struggle now and come out of the gates with a fury!! Watch them win 20 of the first 30 games.
“Linebrink of Disaster” up in the pen for the Cards. There’s hope that the Braves can pull this one out.
March 12th, 20123:06 pm
Who thinks Hughes is going to make the big club out of Spring?
Prado catches a fly ball to end the inning.
if the Braves are up when they start putting in journeymen to pitch, I really am not concerned about the W/L. It would be great to win but I am more happy seeing Prado hit well. Simmons get a walk and SB and solid pitching except when Beachy’s control went to hang out with Elvis as it left the building
Cardinals got 2 in inning off Hughes, who walked 3 and gave up 2 sac flies and a single.
Linebrink to pitch 7th for Cards.
I know the pic is small but Chipper looks fat. When’s he due?
The funny thing about the gameday, Venters ERA went up that inning.
March 12th, 20123:07 pm
I’ll take Heyward’s walk as a good sign…
but clearly the shoulder still hurts if he couldn’t throw the guy out at home from the outfield wall….
For you slow ones, like poor ole Lee in S Ga, I’m kidding.
March 12th, 20123:08 pm
abeeewirght, heres the story on wilson.
As with the Braves and Cards starters leaving the game, I’m out. Peace!
I’d rather see Venters pitch an inning and leave the game. We know what he’s capable of, seeing him go 2 innings in ST kinda scares me a bit.
March 12th, 20123:09 pm
Linebrink will be on the brink of a Cy Young this year with the change of scenery!
March 12th, 20123:10 pm
Kimbrel up in Braves ‘pen
March 12th, 20123:11 pm
The braves pitching staff stinks. I don’t understand why Liberty has stood by an allowed Bobby Cox with his personal vendetta against Leo Mazzone to destroy what was once a history of great pitchers.
March 12th, 20123:13 pm
MLB AT BAT 12 killed the app for Blackberry users? Yikes, I think they should have waited one more full year until everyone is out of their BB contracts. Despite their failures, many of us are still stuck using them. I’m going to miss that app on my phone.
What else do people do while BBQ’n in Winnipeg? I thought everyone listened to the Braves.
Orange Brave f/k/a Billy Jack's BBQ
can martin bat 2x. once as LF and once as DH?
March 12th, 20123:15 pm
Kimbrel is in and got greeted by Beltran with a hit. Sutton is in playing SS.
I didn’t agree with the first fat Chipper comments but hafta admit he looks a little hefty in that pic. However, didn’t look that way at all in the photo shoot about the players’ photos.
March 12th, 20123:16 pm
does the galaxy II phone get the mlb audio package ???
cant get mlb to respond>>
March 12th, 20123:17 pm
I don’t really get the Chipper is fat comments……it’s baseball? Since when is body weight an issue? Little more girth under the uniform might keep him healthy.
March 12th, 20123:18 pm
Coach joe, pretty sure Android gets the app……best $15 i’ve spent!
March 12th, 20123:19 pm
Kimbrel has given up a single and two walks to 1st three Cardinals in 7th
Bases loaded. Kimbrel walks another one.
March 12th, 20123:21 pm
Kimbrel is just confused, it’s the 7th inning…..cause you always test a 9th inning guy in the 7th inning…DUH!
March 12th, 20123:23 pm
Carlos Beltran! Never gonna let him go…
Kimbrel is ready for the season to start.
No worries that he’s becoming a head case like Wohlers did…
March 12th, 20123:24 pm
KImbrell having a flashback! Who says sports isn’t 99% mental?
Gotta love some comments that are so far from reality they make me smile.
After loading bases on a single and two walks, Kimbrel has struck out next 2 batters….
March 12th, 20123:25 pm
thanks. fos will check it out..
… and Kimbrel gets easy fly to LF by Komatsu for 3rd out. After loading bases on hit and 2 walks, he sat down next 3 w/out a run
March 12th, 20123:26 pm
Billy,I never knew there was so many dumb baseball fans until I came on this blog.
March 12th, 20123:27 pm
March 12th, 20123:29 pm
Throw your brick wall at random people, CB. So much more fun than slamming your own head against it.
and Kimbrel gets easy fly to LF by Komatsu for 3rd out. After loading bases on hit and 2 walks, he sat down next 3 w/out a run
reminds me of wags…
March 12th, 20123:30 pm
March 12th, 20123:31 pm
People need not worry about Kimbrel seriously, kids gonna have another terrific year.
Starting pitching health
Hitting with RISP
That’s about all.
March 12th, 20123:36 pm
Can’t capitalize on a decent inning.

Oh, well, we still gotta chance.
March 12th, 20123:46 pm
Waiting for first cuts to see if Heyward goes to AAA or to AA the guy will not hit. Hope Wren keeps his promise that he needs to win the RF job. Keep Prado get a bat for RF.
March 12th, 20123:48 pm
Another of the terminally clueless checks in.
March 12th, 20123:49 pm
If braves want to win this season, they should go with Simmons no doubt. He’s already proven that he is the better SS. Can’t wait for infield defense with Freeman and Simmons going to look sick. Pastornicky good kid, would like to see him spend the year or maybe half the year in triple A. Utility player at best.
Hope Wren keeps his promise that he needs to win the RF job.
Ummmmm… who is he competing with? Constanza? Durango? Diaz?
Not gonna happen. Heyward could pop up every single AB from now until the end of March and he’ll be starting in RF on opening day.
Kimbrel is indeed terrific….
Except in the final game of each season when all the chips are on the table.
That cannot be denied or downplayed. But in this new year, he CAN change that.
March 12th, 20123:51 pm
Wayward isn’t going anywhere.
Finding a way to lose…again. Oh well it’s only ST right?
March 12th, 20123:52 pm
LOL at Lew…
Fumbling Frank fiddled while the Braves burned.
We talk baseball, other sports, music, movies, BBQ and whatever (except politics or religion)
