I am afraid we will be blacked out on the Yankees game in NC. Why do they do this for spring training games make no sense.
March 9th, 20129:15 am
CB – the game is on MLB network…
March 9th, 20129:16 am
From Carroll’s article setting up the ACC semis:
Only when 10th-seed Virginia Tech knocked off No. 7 Clemson on Thursday night did the tournament have its first upset and another interesting matchup for Friday. The Hokies advanced with a 68-63 win to face No. 2 seed Duke, a team it took to overtime in a loss at Cameron Indoor Stadium on Feb. 25.
Duke might have fallen victim to tired legs in that game, playing less than 48 hours after traveling to Florida State. This time it’ll be the Hokies with the greater concern after Duke got a first-round bye.
VJ – It just points to the fact that MLB would rather broadcast the Yankees as opposed to broadcasting the best game.
March 9th, 20129:18 am
Good Morning Braves bloggers…I think the bats wake up today and they have 2 games to try…do we have the rosters for each game yet?
Is there a Braves-Yankees lineup?
March 9th, 20129:22 am
BravePack – I posted lineup earlier for Mets’ game – it’s also down in the Twitter feed to the right…
If all of the Braves’ regulars are playing in the Mets game then just watch – all of the Yankees regulars will be playing against the Braves’ scrubs. Expect much more World Class bitching and moaning when the Braves lose a posided game that doesn’t matter anyway.
March 9th, 20129:23 am
Well at least I get to see Fab 5 Freddie and The Rev and hopefully a better outing for Teheran. Mets game line-up is more stacked though and probably Fredi loading up to get a W.
Meant Lopsided game. Must be that 58 Bood Sugar reading at 3:30 this morning (or the fact I can’t type worth a damn).
MFin04 – none has surfaced yet…
March 9th, 20129:24 am
BravePack – more likely just keeping those guys off the bus…
March 9th, 20129:25 am
Thanks VJ I went back a page after I posted that. Thanks for doing the daily PBP everyday in case I haven’t told you already…much appreciated.
March 9th, 20129:28 am
I just hope I don’t get the treatment our beloved blogmeister gets when I leave my post after tomorrow’s game for our 3 day vacation…
Yeah probably right VJ…that line-up does have the injury prone players on it like Chipper, Heyward, Prado, and to some extent McCann. I surprised Fredi didn’t send a little more help with Freddie like maybe Uggla to play the Stankees.
March 9th, 20129:30 am
VJ is an awesome blog-entator
March 9th, 20129:32 am
Nicky, Bourne and Freeman are regulars traveling to the Yankees…
It is somewhat sad that I got up at 5:30 because I was curious to see if lineups had been posted yet…
Lew – 58…Man, you better have a helping of pancakes with that delicious VT maple syrup.
March 9th, 20129:36 am
Braves Pack…. we’ve been waiting on the bats to wake up since mid August.
March 9th, 20129:47 am
Though the Mets have made it clear that Matt Harvey will not make their Opening Day roster, fans will have another chance to check out one of the game’s top prospects in action on Friday. Harvey will pitch in relief of Dillon Gee in a 1:05 p.m. ET game against the Braves in Lake Buena Vista, Fla.
March 9th, 20129:48 am
Up next: The Yankees are back at George M. Steinbrenner Field on Friday, welcoming in the Braves for a 1:05 p.m. ET contest, their first meeting with Atlanta this spring. The game can be seen on MLB.TV. Right-hander Freddy Garcia will make his second turn through the rotation for New York. Derek Jeter and Robinson Cano are expected to be in the lineup as the double-play combination, with Russell Martin calling the pitches behind the plate.
March 9th, 20129:54 am
raleighbraves – Yeah, I was stuffing my face in the middle of the night. Didn’t feel real good, but it happens when you take medication to lower it. I forgot to eat an evening snack and paid the price.
McFann :Ô: :Ô: :ô:
If Chipper’s playing WHY IS BMAC BATTING THIRD????? FREDI!! GYAH…
March 9th, 20129:58 am
Another whiner on the blog…
March 9th, 20129:59 am
I think I heard they were bringing in some rum and incense to wake up the bats.
I know the feeling. I’m not on insulin, just oral…but it can still drop pretty low if I don’t eat right.
March 9th, 201210:01 am
Atlanta Braves @Braves
Today’s SS lineup at NYY (1:05, MLBN): Bourn 8 Pastornicky 6 Diaz 9 Freeman 3 Ross 2 Bethancourt DH Sutton 4 Hicks 5 Constanza 7 Teheran 1
March 9th, 201210:02 am
VJ – They need to change blog title to “Whiner Central…(warning…people acting like 2 year olds)”
Most will go away when Braves start out stron beginning April 5. A few die hards will always find somethng to b*tch about.
March 9th, 201210:06 am
raleigh, I think he was referring to Ms.BethanFann..
March 9th, 201210:07 am
This is BJ Surhoff all over again. He was traded by his hometown team who he would have been content never leaving, and he doesn’t like being an Atlanta Brave and won’t be one any longer than he has to stay here.
He is also a boring interview but at least he is honest though in this case his honesty isn’t really going to help him or anyone else at this stage
March 9th, 201210:16 am
look its pretty obvious bourn is gone after this year.
braves gave up very little to get him, didn’t try and extend him.
so they are counting on him playing in a contract year, which
will motivate him to play to the best of his abilitys.
obviously wren has someone in mind for 2013 or
is plannong on the mayans being right
March 9th, 201210:17 am
BJ Surhoff was a Complete Bust for us, I’m glad he didn’t stay here long
March 9th, 201210:19 am
Wonder why they are sending scrubs to Yankees when they play them 6x this year all at Yankee stadium. The Mets are no threat so if it were me I would send my regulars to the Yankees game to see as much of them as I could.
V. Jim Another whiner on the blog…
Figgered I was being too quiet this Spring Training…
Really, if he sticks BMac with the number 3 spot to start the season, I’m going to jump out the window…
Ease – I understand….and she doesn’t do much whining…and only concerning her idol. My comment was more general concerning the overall tone and mood here, especially since September, but seemingly intesifying and feeding upon itself.
March 9th, 201210:21 am
McFann – I hope you’re on the first floor
Split squad blogging.
March 9th, 201210:22 am
Split squad today…very appropriate…kinda like the current condition of the blog.
March 9th, 201210:23 am
I know it’s just a ST lineup, but 1.Bourn 2.The Rev is crazy speed at the top. It would be sick to see that all season if Tyler could handle it.
March 9th, 201210:25 am
raleighbravefan and she doesn’t do much whining…and only concerning her idol.
And mainly when he gets stuck on the wrong end of the lineup card…then I do a lot of whining—sometimes it’s quite annoying…
I hope you’re on the first floor
I am when I’m watching the Braves…
whats sutton speed like?
March 9th, 201210:26 am
In FA a deep pocket team will give Bourne 12-13mm/yr a year easy. The Braves cannot afford a wheels guy at that price not if they even are dreaming about extending Mac.
Wish they took Pence b/c he would have been more valuable to the club (which never has enough offense IMHO) and worth stretching a bit. Also he won’t be a FA until 2014 so even if he left you got two+ years of him.
Not to mention he also stuck BMac in the game that’s not on TV…
March 9th, 201210:27 am
Oh, nevermind—I don’t get the channels it’s gonna be on, anyway…
March 9th, 201210:28 am
The New Marlins Ballpark is Dope! It Puts Turner Field to Shame!
March 9th, 201210:29 am
Has anyone posted this article by Jon Paul Morosi yet? What a downer.
March 9th, 201210:30 am
The New Marlins Ballpark is Dope! It Puts Turner Field to Shame!
Yeah, but their uniforms look like uniforms that should be worn on gay pride weekend!! Not that anythings wrong with that… I’m just saying!!!
Brava – I read it yesterday, and couldn’t bring myself to post it…
March 9th, 201210:31 am
T, they do have a nice stadium. Hopefully it will draw them more fans.
Yeah, it’s pretty bad, VJ. I hope the Braves prove him wrong.
Hugo Z Hackenbush
March 9th, 201210:32 am
I’m much more interested in the Yankees game today than the Mets, mainly due to Pastornicky, Teheran, et al. Not sure what you’d discover watching McCann and company playing at this point.
Don’t forget that Pence still would have taken another $10 mill from the Braves for this season.
March 9th, 201210:33 am
I think we are supposed to be moving over to the Hanson blog….
March 9th, 201210:35 am
Umm…that would be quite awkward and very disappointing. But we don’t have to worry about that.
That’s true love, I would compose a sonnet to pay homage to that love but my Muses are dead.
It Puts Turner Field to Shame!
Well lets just demolish it and build a new one. Cake.
March 9th, 201210:37 am
And one would hope that a stadium that is ~17 yrs older would pale in comparison to a brand new one.
Pastor was one of the players that got me motivated to go to Gwinnett games last year. He’s fun to watch and he’s even faster than advertised. I can’t imagine him failing at the next level.
Their stadium looks nice until that ugly dolphin thing in the outfield catches your eye. Looks reeduckulous.
March 9th, 201210:39 am
Ease I’m all for bulldozing The Ted as long as the next stadium isn’t placed in the worst location in ATL again. Move it to the North side!!!
While it would be nice to have views of the city and have the stadium in a better setting but I actually like Turner Field. Nice classic ballpark.
March 9th, 201210:40 am
flange1 is correct – the Hanson blog is the new focal blog…
March 9th, 201210:41 am
Hugo – What I would see is my first game of the season with most of the Braves’ starting lineup in the game. It’s spring training – I’m not watching to make any kind of discovery.
March 9th, 201210:44 am
CraZy, Blank will get his stadium long, long before anything happens with Turner Field…
March 9th, 201210:49 am
The Olympics really screwed the Braves over. I would be willing to bet attendance to games would go way up if the stadium were in the suburbs north of Atlanta.
March 9th, 201210:50 am
Lew,I want to see the new girl that just moved into the neighborhood, not the old floozy who’s been living next door for the last decade or two…
March 9th, 201210:54 am
@ Brava. I read the article but there is nothing new there than most Braves fans already know about this team. We are a good albeit flawed team that will have trouble scoring runs again since we did not do anything to improve our offense. We are counting in players that had subpar performance last year to rebound while hoping that nobody else catch the no hitting bug that have afflicted our team for the last 2 years. I see this year as bridge the youth movement that will be in force by 2013. GO BRAVES!
March 9th, 201211:11 am
“He’s black the Braves will not keep him. Him and J-Hey will not be here are the trade deadline..”
The only color that the Braves management is concern about it is green. We just can’t keep Bourn because he will be too expensive for us to resign. Shoot we may have trouble keeping McCann and he’s a white as anybody can be.
March 9th, 201211:17 am
Oh jeeze, the black-white thing has raised it’s ugly head. I’m not feeding you beast. Go away. Beyond s……
March 9th, 201211:20 am
Thasx for the play-by-play since the blog-meister and assistant blog-meister have been off-line.
March 9th, 201211:21 am
Oh jeeze, the black-white thing has raised it’s ugly head. I’m not feeding you beast. Go away. Beyond s
March 9th, 201211:30 am
Checked out some beautiful pix shot on the atoll that were on-line yesterday. Really nice.
March 9th, 201211:38 am
Hugo – That hot neighbor isn’t likely to be on the field in either game. I’ll see all those pretenders when their time comes.
March 9th, 201211:47 am
@ richbrave: Kwaj is very beautiful place with gorgeous beaches.
March 9th, 201210:19 pm
Might as well expect a losing year. Can’t even beat the Mets. Cancel those season tickets while you can, folks. Look forward to ‘13!
