We’ve never had one on our feeder, either—don’t know if they’d fit… But yeah, they love the woods behind our house, and they used to love The Lightning Tree. It fell last week during the storm (and some Nuthatches were making a nest in it… )…but I’m sure the Pileateds will still like it—they love fallen logs…
I wonder what the daily posting numbers are this spring training versus last year – total number. Seems like interest is down even in the old blog with the Braves collapse last fall and slow start this spring
March 8th, 20126:55 pm
I also wonder if there has even been a team meeting in Spring training
March 8th, 20126:56 pm
I wasn’t the one pushing to leave the office yesterday, since I’d only been here (after my other part-time job) about 2 1/2 or 3 hrs. But, hubby had been “locked up” here most of the day since he had that skin light burn done to his face on Mon. for any pre-cancerous conditions existing and couldn’t be out in the sun AT ALL and, since his beer drinking buddies didn’t come by to keep him company, he was ready to leave.
They have one every year, right before their first full workout.
March 8th, 20126:59 pm
Good friend of mine has eagles nesting close to her house and is totally fascinated by them.
Thankfully, it is almost Friday, which means it is almost Saturday, which means IT IS ALMOST SUNDAY!!!
March 8th, 20127:00 pm
And……Sunday would be when you leave for Vegas?
March 8th, 20127:01 pm
March 8th, 20127:02 pm
I have to count down to the 17th which is when we leave for Orlando and three ST games.
That’s pretty close too
March 8th, 20127:03 pm
Haven’t seen “choppinmama” on here. Wonder if she’s already done her ST trip. Would’ve been nice to meet up with her there. (Finally met here face to face this winter.)
March 8th, 20127:08 pm
And actual b’day is when?
March 8th, 20127:10 pm
OK…….you’re on my handy dandy calendar.
March 8th, 20127:11 pm
OK…..as I figured….hubby is ready to go. Y’all take care and hopefully will see ya tomorrow.
March 8th, 20127:12 pm
Am I all alone now?
March 8th, 20127:13 pm
I think I’m alone now…
March 8th, 20127:14 pm
There doesn’t seem to be anyone around
“All by myself …”
Maybe I can catch VJ…
March 8th, 20127:15 pm
No one was with me
March 8th, 20127:16 pm
Thanks again to VJ for his PbP today
“Don’t wanna be…”
All by myself…
“all by myself anymore.”
March 8th, 20127:17 pm
We Are Not Alone
“Don’t wanna live…”
March 8th, 20127:18 pm
there are only about 30 folks in Carrabelle, how did it take you so long to find her???
March 8th, 20127:19 pm
wordpress has decided that i cant finish.
March 8th, 20127:20 pm
One of our songs.
Josh Smith wants a trade. Ha, of course he does.
Oh, now that he’s actually playing like he’s supposed to, he wants out?
March 8th, 20127:21 pm
I always liked that song Mixxo!
Join! DOB Blog Tourney Pick ‘em.
I don’t care if you don’t know a thing about college hoops – just guess. Honestly, people that don’t know about the teams usually do best.
March 8th, 20127:22 pm
You’ll have to post that again after the brackets come out…otherwise I will probably totally forget to fill it out
He’s tired if being the escape-goat.
March 8th, 20127:23 pm
No cann do. If the Braves kick BMac out, I’m still McFann. I’m still a Braves fan, too, but BMac is my favorite, and I don’t think that’s ever gonna change.
I had a feeling that you would said that.
Oh, I will cab. Get VJ to join too. I think tiger won last year so he better join and try to defend his title.
March 8th, 20127:25 pm
That dumbo, I thought he actually matured this year but no. Same ol’ nonsense. Let him go and blow this whole thing up.
March 8th, 20127:29 pm
I like it too. One of my faves.
Too bad the album went “plywood” though.
March 8th, 20127:31 pm
Yeah, it’s all been kind of funny, Soph. I don’t follow the Hawks like I used to, but I’ve thought they were nuts for the last few years. They draft all these jump out of the gym, swing guy athletes, and then play an Iso Joe offense. Always seemed at odds. Oh well………..
I might give it a go. I jumped on the Hawks bandwagon after their sizzling start and haven’t been following college hoops much.
I just joined, but i can’t seem to get it to change my name to display my blog name
March 8th, 20127:33 pm
And J Smith shines with Joe and Al out. Go figure
March 8th, 20127:36 pm
Go for it, Mixxo. My brackets were way better back when I had no idea what was going on in college basketball. Now that I follow it closely, I overthink it.

It fell last week during the storm (and some Nuthatches were making a nest in it… )…but I’m sure the Pileateds will still like it—they love fallen logs…
A lot of players are really gettiing into that Pileateds. You know most of the Braves are taking classes since Pileateds are famous for developing strength, flexibility and coordination, not to mention flat abs., Those unis will not be able to hide the results of off season work.
Well lets see, Sept/Oct 8-20, ST 1-5. 9-25 something very wrong.
March 8th, 20127:42 pm
cab, did you join twice?
March 8th, 20127:43 pm
Sept/Oct could have been 6-20. I did not look back to last year.
March 8th, 20127:47 pm
Just Pat But, hubby had been “locked up” here most of the day since he had that skin light burn done to his face on Mon. for any pre-cancerous conditions existing and couldn’t be out in the sun AT ALL
Oh goodness! Hope everything’s OK now…
Good talkin’ to ya! Have a safe drive home!
Oh yeah. BMac would have to do something really bad in order to break my alliance…
Yeah- I created a new account and deleted my original listing…but I can’t delete it from the unassigned bracket…GRRRRR
March 8th, 20127:50 pm
cab – let me rephrase – I wonder if there has ever been a team meeting during the Grapefruit league season due to poor play
March 8th, 20127:51 pm
more great pitching by Minor today. In this very small sample of spring training games, Minor has to be considered the bright spot so far. Keep it up Mike
March 8th, 20127:52 pm
Ok, I looked. It was 8-18 so since end of Aug 9-23 some thing wrong, FW should have made some moves over the winter, You should not stand pat with a 9-23 team. Maybe should have looked for a MGR also?
March 8th, 20127:53 pm
Well, we can’t see it anymore. I only see the cab one now.
I’m addicted to Honey Nut Cheerios.
March 8th, 20127:56 pm
In response to your comment last night. I can’t get by on 5 hours sleep if I am in class listening to an instructor all day, especially if the class is boring.
March 8th, 20127:57 pm
I wonder how many times the BRAVES won a division or more starting off 1-5 in ST.
March 8th, 20127:58 pm
March 8th, 20128:00 pm
I couldn’t get by in class with 8 hours of sleep.
I dont know if we’ll win the div this year but I know we could thats why we play the games
March 8th, 20128:02 pm
B-F_52, with the watering down of the playoffs, I think we have more of a chance this season.
March 8th, 20128:05 pm
Depending on the class I can’t always, Soph.
March 8th, 20128:06 pm
with the watering down of the playoffs it makes it more important to win the division than to slide in as a wild card
March 8th, 20128:07 pm
I have no idea why any major league team would be concerned about their play a week into spring.
March 8th, 20128:08 pm
It’s still in the main public pick ‘um. there is no way to delete it…oh well
How’s tricks in the mid-pacific these days? Oh wait, you’re not there now. I looked at some pix of beaches, sunsets etc. Absolutely beautiful.
March 8th, 20128:15 pm
how could you miss that?!?
March 8th, 20128:19 pm
March 8th, 20128:21 pm
Watching CB’s boys take on scoots’ boys. Close game, so far.
March 8th, 20128:24 pm
I think we’ll go 122 – 40 this season. I’ve seen nothing so far to change my mind.
March 8th, 20128:26 pm
Some of you are putting WAY too much emphasis on Spring training games…especially a week in. It’s practice. Nothing more. cab
And apparently, the other teams practices are better than ours. Could also equate to what could happen when the season begins. Oh, I really don’t think we will be this bad during the regular season, but there are just too many holes to believe that this team will compete for a playoff spot. I figure the pitching will carry us just like it did last year, but just like last year the pitching will wear down due to the lack of an offensive cushion.
March 8th, 20128:27 pm
March 8th, 2012
coming off the recent debacle, i can see why we should be concerned. These games are “meaningless” and we still can’t put a bat on a ball.
Hopefully we’ll come on around.
I predict that we’ll finish somewhere just over .500. Maybe 84-78.
March 8th, 20128:29 pm
I was thinking the Braves would win somewhere between 60 and 102 games.
brian, pretty soon every team will be in the playoffs.
March 8th, 20128:31 pm
I think I will wait until the regular starting line up has played a few games that mean something before I decide if I should or should not be concerned. And than I will decide that I will not get all worked up about it because getting angry over a baseball game or team doesn’t affect anyone but me…and maybe VJ. Win or lose, I will enjoy watching my team.
March 8th, 20128:32 pm
Jerry, you’re a hater for voicing such a dire prediction. It’s considered negative to not think, at all times, that we’re playoff bound, unbeatable and just all around good. We have Jason Heyward after all.
March 8th, 20128:33 pm
Haven’t had time to get on here lately, but I have been listening to the games while I work. Trying to get a lot of outdoor projects done before it gets hot out.
I know it’s only a week into ST, but we do have the worst record in the Grapefruit League. Sure hope things get better soon because it’s hard to have optimism for the season from what’s transpired so far.
March 8th, 20128:36 pm
Personally, I understand rooting for your team, win or lose. I’ve been doing that since 1966. But there is a difference between rooting for your team and being concerned about your team. You can do both. With what we saw last year and the strangely eerie familiarity of this team, can you say with absolute truthfulness that you aren’t concerned right now, even just a little bit?
I enjoy it more when we win. Period. It’s ok to have different expectations and wishes for one’s teams. I often wish it was otherwise, but it isn’t. I am what I am – a charming blogger that makes this a better place. Seriously, i want to win.
March 8th, 20128:37 pm
I know phil, and maybe I should see a doctor about all these cigarette burns on my forearms too.
March 8th, 20128:38 pm
You can’t express concern here, Jerry. Well, you can, but you’ll be chastised for it. Which is ok. To each his own.
March 8th, 20128:41 pm
Last year, the Twins “won” the Grapefruit League with a record of 20-12…and proceeded to go 63-99 in the regular season.
March 8th, 20128:42 pm
They’ll heal, Jerry.
If we have many more years of Wayward, i’ll result to smoking cigarettes.
March 8th, 20128:43 pm
Well, I’m not comforted by the assurances of the same folks who swore up and down we would not blow our WC lead in September, nor do I care about being chastised by them. Although it’s only been a week and it’s only ST, I am concerned about this team.
There is a difference between expressing concern and moaning and complaining that the Braves are terrible and are going to be one of the worst teams in the league.
March 8th, 20128:45 pm
I don’t want to “win” this league. After last september, i just want to see some consistent positive signs.
I’ve seen none. I’m concerend.
For you bloggers “concerned” about the team, it’s ok to be “concerned”, it just gets annoying as all get out to have to read your constant “concerned” whining over and over, and over, and over, and over, about your “concerns”…
we get it, you cool dudes are “concerned”, and you don’t like kool aid…
March 8th, 20128:46 pm
It is very obvious that this team needs major changes.
Cap tipper out!
Heyward traded for baseballs
JJ and Tommy for what ever could be gotten
Bourn ship his unhappy ass out
Go young and start over.
Let McCann go if need be to save money. He is good but is overweight and is not getting younger
March 8th, 20128:47 pm
The braves might just be terrible. We’re gonna have to wait and see. Blind optimism is just as bad to me as my griping is to some. But you know, just scroll on by me if it’s truly unbearable.
Yeah, me either. I don’t care about winning the Grapefruit League. It means nothing. I do think the team should be doing better than the basement at this point, though.
March 8th, 20128:49 pm
Thank you, blog monitor….
No different than reading about guitar playing or the blind optimism.
March 8th, 20128:51 pm
My point was that spring training records are not any indication of regular season performance.
I am not blindly optimistic. But I am not blindly negative either. We are going to have to wait and see. Which I also indicated.
And again, I am not sure why it matters what the team looks like a week into spring games. There is still a full month before the season starts.
March 8th, 20128:52 pm
Attention all blog members,
could someone please point me in the direction of all the blind optimism posts??
apparently they are everywhere..
We talk baseball, other sports, music, movies, BBQ and whatever (except politics or religion)
