We’ve never had one on our feeder, either—don’t know if they’d fit… :) But yeah, they love the woods behind our house, and they used to love The Lightning Tree. It fell last week during the storm (and some Nuthatches were making a nest in it… )…but I’m sure the Pileateds will still like it—they love fallen logs…

I wonder what the daily posting numbers are this spring training versus last year – total number. Seems like interest is down even in the old blog with the Braves collapse last fall and slow start this spring

I wasn’t the one pushing to leave the office yesterday, since I’d only been here (after my other part-time job) about 2 1/2 or 3 hrs. But, hubby had been “locked up” here most of the day since he had that skin light burn done to his face on Mon. for any pre-cancerous conditions existing and couldn’t be out in the sun AT ALL and, since his beer drinking buddies didn’t come by to keep him company, he was ready to leave. ;-)

Yeah, it’s all been kind of funny, Soph. I don’t follow the Hawks like I used to, but I’ve thought they were nuts for the last few years. They draft all these jump out of the gym, swing guy athletes, and then play an Iso Joe offense. Always seemed at odds. Oh well………..

It fell last week during the storm (and some Nuthatches were making a nest in it… )…but I’m sure the Pileateds will still like it—they love fallen logs…

A lot of players are really gettiing into that Pileateds. You know most of the Braves are taking classes since Pileateds are famous for developing strength, flexibility and coordination, not to mention flat abs., Those unis will not be able to hide the results of off season work.

8:26 pm

Some of you are putting WAY too much emphasis on Spring training games…especially a week in. It’s practice. Nothing more. cab

And apparently, the other teams practices are better than ours. Could also equate to what could happen when the season begins. Oh, I really don’t think we will be this bad during the regular season, but there are just too many holes to believe that this team will compete for a playoff spot. I figure the pitching will carry us just like it did last year, but just like last year the pitching will wear down due to the lack of an offensive cushion.

coming off the recent debacle, i can see why we should be concerned. These games are “meaningless” and we still can’t put a bat on a ball.

Hopefully we’ll come on around.

Jerry

March 8th, 2012

I predict that we’ll finish somewhere just over .500. Maybe 84-78.

Bat Masterson

March 8th, 2012

I was thinking the Braves would win somewhere between 60 and 102 games.

Trey

brian, pretty soon every team will be in the playoffs.

cabravesfan

March 8th, 2012
8:31 pm

I think I will wait until the regular starting line up has played a few games that mean something before I decide if I should or should not be concerned. And than I will decide that I will not get all worked up about it because getting angry over a baseball game or team doesn’t affect anyone but me…and maybe VJ. Win or lose, I will enjoy watching my team.

phil

March 8th, 2012
8:32 pm

Jerry, you’re a hater for voicing such a dire prediction. It’s considered negative to not think, at all times, that we’re playoff bound, unbeatable and just all around good. We have Jason Heyward after all.

Brava

March 8th, 2012
8:33 pm

Haven’t had time to get on here lately, but I have been listening to the games while I work. Trying to get a lot of outdoor projects done before it gets hot out.

I know it’s only a week into ST, but we do have the worst record in the Grapefruit League. Sure hope things get better soon because it’s hard to have optimism for the season from what’s transpired so far.

Jerry

March 8th, 2012
8:36 pm

Personally, I understand rooting for your team, win or lose. I’ve been doing that since 1966. But there is a difference between rooting for your team and being concerned about your team. You can do both. With what we saw last year and the strangely eerie familiarity of this team, can you say with absolute truthfulness that you aren’t concerned right now, even just a little bit?

phil

March 8th, 2012
8:36 pm

I enjoy it more when we win. Period. It’s ok to have different expectations and wishes for one’s teams. I often wish it was otherwise, but it isn’t. I am what I am – a charming blogger that makes this a better place. Seriously, i want to win.

Jerry

March 8th, 2012
8:37 pm

I know phil, and maybe I should see a doctor about all these cigarette burns on my forearms too.

phil

March 8th, 2012

You can’t express concern here, Jerry. Well, you can, but you’ll be chastised for it. Which is ok. To each his own.

cabravesfan

March 8th, 2012
8:41 pm

Last year, the Twins “won” the Grapefruit League with a record of 20-12…and proceeded to go 63-99 in the regular season.

phil

March 8th, 2012
8:42 pm

They’ll heal, Jerry.

If we have many more years of Wayward, i’ll result to smoking cigarettes.

Brava

March 8th, 2012
8:43 pm

Well, I’m not comforted by the assurances of the same folks who swore up and down we would not blow our WC lead in September, nor do I care about being chastised by them. Although it’s only been a week and it’s only ST, I am concerned about this team.

cabravesfan

March 8th, 2012
8:43 pm

There is a difference between expressing concern and moaning and complaining that the Braves are terrible and are going to be one of the worst teams in the league.

phil

March 8th, 2012
8:45 pm

I don’t want to “win” this league. After last september, i just want to see some consistent positive signs.

I’ve seen none. I’m concerend.

For you bloggers “concerned” about the team, it’s ok to be “concerned”, it just gets annoying as all get out to have to read your constant “concerned” whining over and over, and over, and over, and over, about your “concerns”…

we get it, you cool dudes are “concerned”, and you don’t like kool aid…

ChrisfromSacramento,Ca

It is very obvious that this team needs major changes.

Cap tipper out!
Heyward traded for baseballs
JJ and Tommy for what ever could be gotten
Bourn ship his unhappy ass out
Go young and start over.
Let McCann go if need be to save money. He is good but is overweight and is not getting younger

phil

The braves might just be terrible. We’re gonna have to wait and see. Blind optimism is just as bad to me as my griping is to some. But you know, just scroll on by me if it’s truly unbearable.

cabravesfan

My point was that spring training records are not any indication of regular season performance.

I am not blindly optimistic. But I am not blindly negative either. We are going to have to wait and see. Which I also indicated.

And again, I am not sure why it matters what the team looks like a week into spring games. There is still a full month before the season starts.
