Fly to left
Tejada hits solo homerun off JJ. Astros 1-0.
March 5th, 20121:26 pm
There is no streaming today – game not on Braves network, just one station in ATL…
March 5th, 20121:27 pm
Spanish Moss then it would be Braves 2-1.
Comebacker to the mound, JJ stabs it and hits Hinske in nads. Hinske misjudged throw to 1st.
Constanza with a sliding catch for the second out…
March 5th, 20121:28 pm
Great read…thanks DOB
Three up, three down for JJ…
March 5th, 20121:29 pm
Thanks for the new blog DOB!
Bogusevic hit line drive to Pastornicky…

“Sending Teheran, at 21, back to Triple-A would not be the terrible thing some act like it would be. Far from it. Again, he just turned 21.”
Who are those “some” who act as if it would be a terrible thing to send Teheran back to Triple-A?
I would like to hear what these people may be thinking because I’m not sure why anyone would have problems sending a 21-year-old pitcher to Triple-A for some more seasoning, when the Braves have solid pitching depth at the major league level.
If everyone would order mlb.tv they’d have the Braves stream.. Unless they black it out in the Atlanta area? I know in Utah I’m listening to it. Getting spring fever now that it’s hitting 50 degrees!
March 5th, 20121:33 pm
Broken bat, up the middle, per DOB…

“I would like to hear what these people may be thinking because I’m not sure why anyone would have problems sending a 21-year-old pitcher to Triple-A for some more seasoning, when the Braves have solid pitching depth at the major league level.”
I’ve seen people comment on the blogs saying that they think it would be wasting their good arms to still have him, Delgado, and Vizcaino pitching in AAA.
Bourn flies to center…
Sorry, posted this comment on wrong blog while ago: Boscan with a broken-bat single up middle, 1 out in Braves 2nd. Bourn up again, facing his former Astros for 1st time today
March 5th, 20121:35 pm
I’m listening to it too… via mlb.com.
March 5th, 20121:36 pm
Pastornicky grounds to second to end the top of the 2nd…
jones boys, no relation
heading to the bottom 2nd still 2-0
March 5th, 20121:37 pm
I’d rather see Teheran and Delgado in AAA than in the bullpen. I’d rather see them back in AA than in the bullpen.
I’d rather see Diaz in a vendor’s unifor… oh… right… said I wasn’t going to pick on him anymore.
Be patient with me.
Venice Jim .. thanks for the info about the streaming today.
March 5th, 20121:38 pm
Man, I need some good barbecue, a nice flat screen tv to watch the Braves and Stro’s and a cold beer.
March 5th, 20121:40 pm
off the wall, standup dub for martinez
JJ allowed a HIT!!!! OMG THE SKY IS FALLING! Trade him! Cut him! He sucks!!!!!!!!!!
(did I get that right?)

First action of spring training for Teheran and getting shelled not a big deal. He’s not spotting consistently yet and suffered for it but he will get better as he progresses. And I totally agree with DOB, let him work at least another 1/2 season in AAA at his craft. His stuff is very good but that’s not always enough vs. MLB hitters.
March 5th, 20121:42 pm
I’m a little disappointed that they aren’t showing more Braves spring training games, just the yank-me’s and other crappy teams
cabravesfan: You forgot “Fire Fredi!!!”
March 5th, 20121:43 pm
Listing to the game on the At Bat 12 app….best $15 I spend each year.
Btw, Ben Ingram’s voice cracks me up…he sounds like he’s in his late 40’s, not 20’s/early 30’s.
One out single drives in run…

cabravesfan: You forgot “Fire Fredi!!!”
Damn! I KNEW I forgot something. I will try to do better…
cab you are spot on. The Braves are up. Why are all of the intelligent posting naysayers at this moment. Oh yeah they only come out when it doesn’t take any thought whatsoever to open their pie hole.
Ground rule double barely hits foul line and spins into seats…
March 5th, 20121:45 pm
Whoever is pitching for Houston we make him look like CY Young.
One out, 2nd and 3rd…
March 5th, 20121:46 pm
I switched over to the Houston broadcast just to see if they were giving any good inside info on the Astros. Yikes….I feel for Houston fans having to listen to that radio team. Their scouting report on Lowrie, “He’ll give you all he’s got”. Oh, and they mentioned that he’s a switch hitter. Thanks guys!
Scott Moore batting, 2-2 count…
March 5th, 20121:47 pm
Wheels coming off?
did I get that right?
I think you were fine on your panic component, but just a touch lacking on the anger component. And with it being ST, we really didn’t get to see you trot out your give-up component (kinda like a third pitch, as it were).
Still, for the first week of March? I’d call it a good outing; gives you something to build on. And by Opening Day, I’d say you’ll be able to go nine, with plenty of doom-and-gloom to spare.
Full count – grounder to the Rev – get runner on 2nd in rundown – run scores, batter to 2nd…2 outs…
March 5th, 20121:48 pm
Lowrie scored on a groundout. Rev got the runner between second and third in a run down. 2-2 runner on 2nd with two outs.
6-5-4-6, if you’re scoring at home…
March 5th, 20121:49 pm
Dayum. Can’t remember the last time I heard “Monkey Gone to Heaven.” Great selection, DOB, great selection.
2-2 count on Castro…
March 5th, 20121:50 pm
Jurrjens looks good, actually, Some cheap hits, 1 well-hit ball (double to gap) so far. Stuff looks good, velo. Location a bit off….
Bourn has flied out to Schafer in both at-bats so far.
March 5th, 20121:51 pm
Full count – Castro fouls it off…walks him…
Walk – two on two out and Schaefer up.
March 5th, 20121:52 pm
1st and 2nd, two down, top of the order – Jordan Shayfurrrr at bat…
2-1 count on Che-frrrrr
I’m looking forward to most of our prospects failing. That’ll shut some of you idiots up.
March 5th, 20121:53 pm
Fly out to Constanza ends the inning…
I’ve got lots of doom & gloom locked up in the closet. I usually don’t let it out much, so it’s been piling up on me over the years. I have actually been thinking about selling some if you know anyone that might be interested. I can give them a good price…
March 5th, 20121:54 pm
Schafer flies outt to LF to end Astros 2nd with 2 on. Jurrjens worked 2 inn. and allowed 2 runs, 3 H, 1 BB, no strikeouts.
March 5th, 20121:55 pm
RG! HI! Welcome back!
March 5th, 20121:56 pm
The Rule 5 lefty Robert Fish is up in the Braves bullpen, will replace Jurrjens in 3rd
McCann, Uggla, Hinske scheduled…
New pitcher – Xavier Cedeno…
I can give them a good price…
Just donate that crap to Goodwill.
March 5th, 20121:57 pm
Hey, cabaliscious! What up, homeslice?
March 5th, 20121:58 pm
McCann strikes out…
March 5th, 20121:59 pm
Uggla with a 2-2 count…smashes the ball OUT to left field – HR!!!
March 5th, 20122:00 pm
Why should I donate it when I can make some money? I will need the start up capital to launch Rent A Get-A-Grip-Friend
I think whether a possibly future starting pitcher is better off in the major league bullpen or starting in the minors depends on the pitcher. I don’t think we can make the blanket statement that every pitcher would be any better (or any worse) off starting in the minors rather than relieving in the majors, or that starting in the minors would necessarily be better for the team.
I do suspect Teheran specifically would be better off starting in the minors.
Attaboy Mac! Lookin’ good buddy.
Now go siddown!!!
March 5th, 20122:01 pm
His name is Dan Uggla! Never gets old.
Uggla was hitting bombs in BP over that LF wall, and hit one to same spot off lefty Cedeno on 2-2 pitch. No doubter. 3-2 Braves lead
Hinske caught looking…
March 5th, 20122:02 pm
O.K. we can decide today whether FISH is worthy of becoming a BRAVE.
DOB did say that Uggs was killing it in BP. Please no slow start, please no slow start, so far so good.
Must not have noticed how excited Mixxo was when Mac had a hit the first time up…
March 5th, 20122:03 pm
Jason ends the inning looking at strike 3…
And off a lefty…good sign.
I think there are some cases in which it is good for the pitcher and the team for the pitcher to pitch out of the bullpen for a year or two; or at least it does no harm for the pitcher to come out of the bullpen.
So you plan to exacerbate the problem before you fix it? Counterproductive, cab. Counter-productive…
March 5th, 20122:05 pm
No! It’s all about MAKING MONEY! I sell surplus Doom and Gloom, than I rent out a Get A Grip Friend to the same folks I sold the doom and gloom to in the first place, thus making them pay me twice
Can anyone who’s there tell if the strike-zone is being called wide? Just strange to see McCann, Hinske, and Heyward all called out looking at strikes.
Or am I just trying to read too much into the 3rd game of the spring, and 4th or 5th AB of the spring for those guys?
March 5th, 20122:06 pm
Altuve pops out to Hinske…
March 5th, 20122:08 pm
Was out mowing the lawn VJ and missed it….relax.
Bogusevic – 2-2 count against Fish – fastball to the screen – full count…
March 5th, 20122:09 pm
Chopper to Uggla – bad throw, one hop into dugout…
Two-base throwing error on Uggla on high throw to 1st base on Bogusevic grounder, then he steals 3rd on lefty Fish
Stolen Base – runner at 3rd…
March 5th, 20122:11 pm
Martinez batting with infield in – grounder to Terdoslavich – holds runner, out at first…
